Garashir Wedding Registry

Announcing the Garashir Wedding Registry, an ao3 prompt challenge collection for marriage- and wedding-related Garashir fanfics!

I got married a few weeks ago, and my wonderful friend @wanderingwriter87 wrote me a Garashir fic, a slight complication, as a wedding gift! My spouse saw how happy I was after receiving this gift fic and joked that we should have made a wedding registry that just asked for various fanfics, and I was like "...okay, hold on a second, that’s actually genius" lmao!

So! I’ve decided to use the occasion to humbly request/encourage some Garashir (well, mostly Garashir*) marriage fics from the fandom! (*My two most cherished cursed rarepairs, Sloanshir and Siskarak, will also appear briefly in the prompt list as well, so just scroll on by those prompts if you only are interested in Garashir lol. But, because of who I am as a person, my cursed rarepairs are actually always secretly Garashir anyway, so I've made that a stipulation in the collection too haha!) There is absolutely no pressure to write anything for this, I just thought it was a very funny concept to have fanfic wedding registry haha, so please only join in if it seems like fun to you! And despite the shameless self-indulgence of it all, I truly do hope this prompt challenge brings joy to not only me but to the rest of the Garashir community too! Trying to write from Sloan's POV and I feel like he's beginning to turn into more of a cartoonish, moustache-twirling villain than what I was aiming for.

Any pointers or ideas on how Sloan can justify to himself that he can have his way with Julian so long as he can make sure Julian thinks it's sleep paralysis?

Here's what I've got so far -- the tone just isn't vibing with the rest of the fic, in which Julian's pretty distressed about the vivid nightmares he's been having.

It was his own fault for letting the doctor get so entirely under his skin, but really, who could blame him? Bashir was an infuriating conundrum, a perverted danger and self-righteous saint all wrapped up in one augmented package, and Sloan hadn’t been able to get the man out of his mind.

Even before they’d met, he’d noticed his interest in the doctor bordering on obsession as they’d planned their trap to catch Starfleet’s one-and-only genetically enhanced officer. But it had been meeting the man in person that had really triggered these… feelings… within him. Sloan had never considered himself a cruel person, but he had to admit, those rare few moments in the simulation when Bashir’s eyes had shone with fear and helplessness had stirred an excitement in him he’d never felt before.

Part of it had come from the satisfaction of putting the augment in his place, he was sure. Despite the thoroughness of their tests, Sloan didn’t think they could be certain the man was not a traitor – at least, that was what he told himself when he suggested he ought to regularly check in on Bashir. But as he lay awake at night, fantasies began to creep in of what he might have done to the doctor had the two of them been alone in that simulation – and how he might engineer a future situation that would give him what he wanted.

Sloan/Bashir

By basically canon I mean I'm Certain that Sloan's obsession with Julian has something psychosexual to it. Julian himself could not care less and is only going along with it (insofar as he even Is going along with it) because Sisko told him to. He's putting negative effort into making Sloan believe he's not a double agent, and somehow that's not made Sloan leave him alone yet.

I'm "writing" (read: thinking about real hard) a thing where Julian's mental health continues its swan dive postcanon, and a lot of that includes obsessing over the now very dead Sloan. How do you cope with knowing next to nothing about the man who obsessed over you, then tortured you, then let you get tortured by a Different government, then felt betrayed when you finally kill him (well, kidnapped and assaulted then he killed himself, but still)? When you can't talk about any of it publicly because that would involve outing a centuries old secret and putting yet another target on your back, when everyone is still celebrating the war being over?

"Julian shaking and crying from anger and disgust while he is forced by ✨~Circumstances~✨ to kiss Sloan... 😏 " He has to in order to save Garak for some reason? I'd imagine that would be a legit reason for it, which could then segue nicely into angry/upset/jealous Garak going a little feral in revenge for Julian, then into fluffy/comfort Garashir to finish?

Hehe yesss, you GET it! That’s def a direction I'd love to explore! <3 It's especially fun to me if Garak is made to watch... >:3 But I guess I feel like I’m stuck on the specifics. I def would love it to be to save Garak, but what is the reason in "for some reason," you know? Like, how to get Garak in Sloan’s clutches, or why Sloan would ask Julian for a kiss (I feel like he should at least keep up the pretense of being on an s31 mission, right?) and why Julian would believe that complying would actually save/help Garak...

Also, saving Garak being the goal reminds of the set up in that fic Name Your Price, by Invicta, where Sloan makes Julian sleep with him in order to spare Garak’s life. The idea there is that Garak is not trusted by s31 and is about to be killed by them, and Sloan tells Julian he'll call off the planned assassination in exchange for Julian satisfying his lust. So my mental block on this is perhaps that when I try to think of scenarios, the premise of that fic shows up in my mind instead lmao. Maybe I shouldn't worry so much about stepping on toes though bc I know I would not have written that concept the same way Invicta did lol.

So I could make it NOT about Garak. The ultimatum could be about saving a patient's life/curing a disease, maybe. ...But I've already got an Extreme Measures wip about Sloan getting Julian to bang him in exchange for the cure to the Changeling disease, and I'm already struggling to make that one work. XD

But anyway, I think I want Sloan to have an excuse besides his embarrassing crush for making Julian kiss him (even if it's flimsy and doesn't hold up to scrutiny), and I think that's really what's nebulous to me rn. Thanks for sending this ask and letting me ramble and try to pinpoint what I'm stuck on! <3 I'm sure I'll figure out how to make it work eventually. XD

[Excerpt from my new whumpy one shot about Sloan creepiness and Garashir sap. Non-con voyeurism. M-rated.]

Julian blinked blearily, unimpressed. He hated how condescending Sloan's tone was as he admonished him. 

“You are supposed to report all changes in your relationship status to me promptly. Section 31—”

“I don’t work for Section 31.” He rolled over and put his pillow over his head pointedly. Why did Sloan always show up in the middle of the night? And how did he always bypass the security systems on the station without tripping any alarms?

Sloan walked up next to the bed. Julian tried to ignore him despite being acutely aware of his presence, but that became no longer an option when Sloan pried the pillow off of him and dropped it to the floor. Julian glared at him, and sat up.

“Regardless,” Sloan said with a thin smile, “you have worked with us in the past.”

Julian groaned. The mistake of agreeing to help Sloan at that conference on Romulus was truly the gift that kept on giving.

“I don’t see why that entitles you to details of my personal life.”

“You and anyone you… associate with might be seen as a target for enemies of our organization. Not to mention that your partners themselves might merely be cozying up to you to get access to Section 31. So we need to know about your lovers to accurately assess all of these potential risks.”

I'm pretty sure I told someone a few weeks ago that I would not be working on any other fic ideas until Vision Awry was finished... Yeah, about that 😅

Currently writing a Julian-thinks-it's-sleep-paralysis-but-it's-actually-Sloan fic, despite wanting to write more of my Inquisition AU, the Keiko & Julian fic I started last week, a third chapter of 1730, and of course, really needing to carry on with VA so I don't catch up to myself now I've started posting it!

I'm definitely enjoying myself but I'm VERY aware I only have another day of holiday left and man, there is so much to write and so little time 😭

Hmmmmmmmmmm. I don't really have something spicy here- I've gradually become more interested in Sisko/Bashir, but I kind of suspected it might happen upon introduction to the idea, and I'm not upset about it. That said, it's not really a top ship for me. Other than that there's not really any ships I had an ICK reaction to that Ill read stuff for now- for ex. Sloanshir didn't give me a strong negative reaction because while it is a torturer/their victim, something I don't like, it's not presented as aspirational (which is the reason I don't like that trope).
