An Oakville cemetery is once again facing calls to remove a monument that pays tribute to a Ukrainian unit that was recently thrust into the spotlight when controversy erupted over a decision to honour one of its veterans in the House of Commons. The monument in question is located within West Oak Memorial Gardens, a 100-acre cemetery at 1280 Dundas St. W. that is owned and operated by St. Volodymyr Ukrainian Cemetery. In 1988, a large statue commemorating what is known as the First Ukrainian Division of the Ukrainian National Army was erected at the burial ground, which is the largest Ukrainian cemetery in Canada. Yaroslav Hunka, the 98-year-old Ukrainian man at the centre of this controversy, served in that military unit, which was founded in 1943 and is also known as the Waffen-SS Galicia Division and the SS 14th Waffen Division. This unit was a Second World War Nazi German military formation made up of mostly Ukrainian volunteers and fought in Ukraine, Poland, Slovakia, and the former Yugoslavia. It was disbanded in 1945.

Meet Me
Word Count:1592
Warnings: Language, sexual themes (no sex, just making out really)
I  find ATJ’s Pietro to be a huge flirt for some reason
Ya’ll I don’t know where Sokovia is supposed to be but it said in between Slovakia and Czech Republic, and then it says the language is a mix of like, 50, so I just did Ukrainian as that showed up the most
Also, this whole time I though Sokovia was real place.....yes, I am American
And this also goes with the WandaVision thing that they were born in ‘89, most of my fics that involve Wanda and/or Pietro are actually the OG thing of them being born in ‘98/’99, even if it’s Evan Peter’s version as I have no freaking clue when that takes place, but due to the lyrics and how I was taking it, I decided ‘89 would make more sense
I am very much aware that the sun rises in the East, please, let’s act like it doesn’t

Song 8-Eastside by Benny Blanco, Halsey, and Khalid

When I was young, I fell in love We used to hold hands, man, that was enough (Yeah)
Pietro watched as the girl talk to his sister. “П'єтро! Ходи сюди!” (Pietro! Come here!) He walked over to his sister and the girl and smiled.  “Її родина також вчиться говорити по-англійськи, переглядаючи ситкоми!” (Her family is also learning to speak English by watching sitcoms!)
“O?” He smirked, wanting to impress her he tried to speak some, “You are the duo of Garn.”
“S-sorry?”
“I-Uh.”
She smiled, “Ви маєте на увазі прекрасну, чи не так?” You mean beautiful, don't you?) He nodded, “Ну гаразд,” (Well then,) She let out a breath, “Y-you are very handsome.” He felt his face heat up and felt it et worse as she leaned in and kissed his cheek. “Моє ім'я є ‘Твоє ім'я’.” (My name is ‘Your Name’)
“Моє - П’єтро.” (Mine is Pietro)
Wanda looked at both and spoke, “А я Ванда.” (And I'm Wanda)
Then we grew up, started to touch Used to kiss underneath the light on the back of the bus (Yeah) I know your daddy didn't like me much And he didn't believe me when I said you were the one Oh, every day, she found a way out of the window to sneak out late
Pietro pushed her against the chair in the old bus. The dim light of it illuminating her face. She pulled his face back down to meet hers, but he decided to go else where. His lips trailed down her neck and she giggled as he trailed over a ticklish spot. One of his hands moved under her shirt and began to toy underneath. Both her hands did the same to his.
The two only stopped when they heard someone clearing their throat. Both looked at saw Wanda. Pietro groaned and Y/N rolled her eyes. “Wanda? Why do you have to ruin my fun?”
“Yeah, we never get time alone because of you and my dad.”
Wanda rolled her eyes, “Well I’m sorry that I don’t want you two to do something that you’ll regret later in life.”
“Wanda, sister, we’re 16, we’re fine.”
“Whatever. I’ll be waiting outside.”
“Fine. Fine.” They listened as she walked off the bus and he looked at her. His left hand moved to cup her face. “One day we’re gonna convince my sister and your father that I’m the one for you--”
“--And I for you.” She leaned into his hand, “One day. But Wanda probably stopped us in time. He’ll be up son and will notice I’m gone.” She grabbed his hand and moved it from her face. “I love you Pietro Maximoff.”
“I love you Y/N Y/L/N.”
Seventeen, and we got a dream to have a family A house, and everything in between
Y/N ran to Pietro, she hugged him as tight as she could, terrified that they would be separated again. “I-I thought they had got you, I was terrified that you were hurt.”
He kissed her head, “It’s alright, I’m here.”
“Pietro, why don’t we just leave?”
“What?”
“Go to somewhere safer. We’re 17, I’ll be 18 in a few months. We could do whatever we want! Get a house of our own and have a family. We could have everything we’ve always wanted!”
“But what about Wanda? I can’t leave her, she’s my sister. The only other thing besides you that I have.”
“We could bring her. The three of us could finally get away from this.”
“We can try.”
And then, oh, suddenly, we turned twenty-three And now we got pressure for taking our life more seriously We got our dead-end jobs and got bills to pay Our old friends are now our enemies And now I, I'm thinking back to when I was young Back to the day when I was falling in love
Y/N ran though the streets, trying to make it to the small apartment she owned with what seemed like the only two people who cared about her. She opened and slammed the door behind her. One would think it was because of the unlocked door, but no, that wasn’t it. She had just gotten fired again and had to find another way to pay the bills. It was always the same reason, she was at a protest and they don’t want the fact that one of the workers went to a protest to reflect badly on the company.
She walked into the kitchen and picked up the paper on the counter. JOIN HYDRA TO HELP YOUR COUNTRY TODAY! She looked for the meeting place and saw where it said. She placed it back down and ran out of the apartment to find Wanda and Pietro.
Y/N smiled while talking to Wanda, but she noticed a boy with dark brown hair like Wanda’s staring at them. “Ванда, хто хлопчик дивиться на нас?” (Wanda, who is the boy looking at us?)
Wanda looked over, “О, це мій брат П'єтро.” (Oh, this is my brother Pietro_ She turned to him, “П'єтро! Ходи сюди!” (Pietro! Come here!) He walked over to the two of them and he smiled.  “Її родина також вчиться говорити по-англійськи, переглядаючи ситкоми!” (Her family is also learning to speak English by watching sitcoms!)
“O?” He smirked, “You are the duo of Garn.”
She bit her lip, holding back a laugh “S-sorry?”
“I-Uh.”
She smiled, figuring out what he meant, “Ви маєте на увазі прекрасну, чи не так?” (You mean beautiful, don't you?) He nodded, “Ну гаразд,” (Well then,) She let out a breath staring into his eyes, “Y-you are very handsome.” When she leaned in and kissed his cheek she felt how hot his cheek was. When she pulled away she smiled again, “Моє ім'я є ‘Твоє ім'я’.” (My name is ‘Your Name’)
He smiled widely, “Моє - П’єтро.” (Mine is Pietro)
Wanda looked at both and spoke, “А я Ванда.” (And I'm Wanda)
Y/N held back the laughter, she felt a feeling she never had before. But she knew she would when she was older.
(S)He used to meet me on the Eastside In the city where the sun don't set And every day, you know where we'd ride Through the backstreets in a blue Corvette And baby, you know I just wanna leave tonight We can go anywhere we want Drive down to the coast, jump in the sea Just take my hand and come with me, singing
Y/N ran to the Eastside of the city, were they used to meet up. It was the last place the sun set last. She was about halfway when she remembered the old blue car they had left. She ran to look for it and laughed when she found it. She pulled the sheet off of it and jumped in. She turned the key and drove off down the dirt road.
When she made it to the building, she noticed the crowd of people. She pulled the key out and jumped out of the car. She ran through the crowd, trying to find the twins. “Pietro?! Wanda?!”
She saw someone turn around and then saw the face as Pietro’s. She ran over to them. “Y/N, I thought you would be at work!”
“I got fired again, what you two doing here?”
“We wanna help!”
“But it’s HYDRA!”
“They’ve changed! You just missed the speech they gave!”
“Pietro, I love you but no. They can’t change that much.”
“Come on, join us!”
She shook her head at Wanda, “No, I won’t.” She looked back at Pietro, “Take my hand and we can leave! Go anywhere we want! I have to money! I can go get you guys a passport and license in a different country and we can leave! Go anywhere we want!” She ran a hand though her hair, “We can leave tonight even! I got the blue car we stole and we can leave!”
“Y/N, this will be better! I can guarantee it!”
She looked down and muttered, “Fuck it,” Looking back at them, “Pietro, if you really love me then you’ll go with me! I‘ll be back at the apartment packing my bags. If you aren’t there by the time I’m done then I’ll know your decision.”
She turned around and left the crowd. Already knowing what Pietro was going to do.
We can do anything if we put our minds to it Take your old life, then you put a line through it My love is yours if you're willing to take it Give me your heart 'cause I ain't gonna break it So come away, starting today To start a new life together in a different place We know that love is how all these ideas came to be So baby, run away with me
Y/N walked into the locker room. “Hey.”
The man looked at her and smiled lightly, “Y/N.”
“Pietro.”
“What do you want?”
“Are you really on our side?”
“Yeah.”
She walked over to him, “Good.” She sighed, “Listen--”
“Don’t, you did what you had to, I don’t blame you.”
“I left you.”
“But I’m here.”
She bit her lip, “why don’t we forget all of the past and when we finish this we start again? Clean slate?”
He smiled, “That’s the smartest thing you’ve ever said.”
“My love is still yours as long as you’re willing to take it again.”
He locked her between himself and the lockers and bent down, “Good.” He leaned down and kissed her. And she kissed back. Both refusing to let go so they can catch up on the missing years.

Slovakia
General Information Slovakia is a country in Central Europe. It can be traced back to the inhabitants of what used to be Upper Hungary, who retained the influence of the former Slavic kingdom of Moravia, while a distinct Slovak national identity emerged in the 19th Century. The Slovak language, closely related to Czech, likely developed starting in the Medieval era. In 1918 the nation of Czechoslovakia formed after the dissolution of Austria-Hungary. On January 1st 1993, it was split into the Czech Republic and Slovakia. 81.4% of inhabitants are ethnic Slovaks, 8.3% ethnic Hungarians. 62% are Roman Catholic, 13.4% nonreligious. The capital is Bratislava.

World’s First Reservation of Folk Architecture The village of Čičmany is considered to be the world’s first reservation of folk architecture. There are more than 130 houses belonging to it. The traditional wooden houses are decorated with white geometric patterns, which are the same designs as on the villagers’ folk costumes.

Economy The economy of Slovakia is based upon Slovakia becoming an EU member state in 2004, and adopting the euro at the beginning of 2009. Its capital, Bratislava, is the largest financial center in Slovakia. Since the establishment of the Slovak Republic in January 1993, Slovakia has undergone a transition from a centrally planned economy to a free market economy, a process which some observers were to believe was slowed in the 1994–98 period due to the crony capitalism and other fiscal policies of Prime Minister Vladimír Mečiar's government.Foreign direct investment in Slovakia has increased dramatically. Cheap and skilled labor, a 19% flat tax rate for both businesses and individuals, no dividend taxes, a weak labor code, and a favorable geographical location are Slovakia's main advantages for foreign investors. Largest companies by revenue in Slovakia are Volkswagen Slovakia, Kia Motors Slovakia and Slovnaft.

Free trains In 2014, the Slovakian legislature agreed to make travel by train free to all children, seniors over the age of 62 as well as full time students under the age of 26.This deal isn’t just available to Slovak citizens either – any permanent resident of a country in the European Union can take advantage, simply registering to obtain a travel card.

Racism is not only an additional stress for individuals from ethnic minority groups, it is a pathogen that causes depression. Racism usually occurs in the workplace and in schools and is particularly experienced by immigrants and refugees. Immigrants and refugees are often exploited as labor force, human trafficking. Even some 4,444 developed countries like America face a critical situation of racial discrimination.
On December 8, 2018, the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights will hold a consultation on  regional mechanisms to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and “other related forms of intolerance'. Now is a good time to take stock of the situation of people of African descent in America. In 2018, 17 years after the World Conference against Racism in Durban, South Africa, where does the region face these challenges? Given the lack of progress on the Durban agenda, the United Nations General Assembly introduced the International Decade for People of African Descent, 2015-2024. This effort builds on  recommendations adopted at the 2001 World Conference Against Racism in Durban, South Africa, where global actors came together to discuss preventive measures and the implications of racism. For the 200 million people of African descent in the Americas, this is a critical opportunity for targeted change. The culturally sensitive guidelines and suggestions outlined in the International Decade for People of African Descent provide real mechanisms for positive development, but there is still a long way to go before these people feel the positive results of the Program of Action. In the 1980s and 1990s, black movements in countries such as Brazil, Colombia and Panama called on their national governments to include or restore ethnoracial data in the national census. The data, they claimed, would support their claims of deep-seated socioeconomic disparities between ethnic groups and hopefully compel their national government to address the issues. Now, more and more countries have started to include ethnoracial data in their censuses and officially recognize the multi-ethnic makeup of their country. For example, in Colombia, Venezuela and Brazil,  several million Afro-descendants represent 10 to 55% of the population, and countries such as Cuba, Mexico and Ecuador each have  more than a million Afro-descendants. 98 percent of people of African descent in Latin America are concentrated in the above countries.
The  Best Countries Annual Report, a  survey conducted in 78 countries by the US News and World Report, the BAV Group and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, added questions about race equality in 2020. Here is a list of some countries who experience severe discrimination.
1. Qatar 2. Serbia 3.Saudi Arabia 4.Sri Lanka 5.United Arab Emirates 6.Slovakia 7.Myanmar 8.Israel 9.Ukraine 10.United States It is important to note that many of these countries have a large percentage of natives and relatively few immigrants and international residents.
