"Issue #28: Viscera, Shiny In the Light of Day"

This absolute monster of an issue is one I've been incredibly excited to get to for months now. Deepdark is a very important character, as the primary antagonist, and he's finally gotten a real spotlight on him. At this point I'm really just writing original xenofiction too, which is fun. Yeah, this a Warrior cats story, you're getting a deer murder cult and you'll be happy with it.

One thing that I think it important to make clear is that Longest-Claws was not the "leader of Defiance before Deepdark". He was the leader of a group that Deepdark took inspiration from and poached several of its members, but Defiance is entirely Deepdark's creation.

Also, it's nice to finally reveal that Lingonberry is just Deepdark's original name! He took on 'Deepdark' after he killed Longest-Claws. Although they are not separate characters, I'll be tagging posts that refer to Deepdark's past with just 'Lingonberry' so as to not spoil any future readers who may be looking through the tag.

The animals featured in the big panels on page 2 and page 9 are cameos from the PATFW Discord, many of which are Defiance fan-characters. All of the characters and their respective creators will be tagged under the cut.

Meet the OCs: Bean (she/he/they) - @the-owl-tree

Bean is a former member of the Sisters that broke off after their battle with the Clans to become their new mediator. Settling into a den outside of the territory after his request to join all the Clans was denied, Bean begins to explore their own identity outside of the expectations of the Sisters and learn more about her own abilities. Under the tutelage of Tree and the many other cats they've befriended, Bean must learn how to navigate Clan politics as well handle the numerous ghosts that linger on the territory.

Okay, so this is my little goober named Talon, previously Birdkit > Birdpaw > Birdkit, and he is/was (it’s complicated) my PC in a wc-based DND! He was previously an apprentice of Shadow Branch, but he was trained by a Dark Forest warrior named Creek Splash who encouraged his desire to impress his mentor, Croweye. This led him to do some.. not good things (such as tear out a fellow apprentice’s eye at a once peaceful apprentice-only gathering, leading to him getting renamed Birdkit as punishment) and during a talk with his mentor and leader, Badgerstar, he instead opted to challenge him to a fight! Birdkit didn’t quite win, but when Badgerstar was down he fled as warriors led by Croweye chased him down until he fell unconscious and later granted a swift death by his mentor. Upon arriving in The Dark Forest he renamed himself Talon and swore revenge, but he never really got it in the way he planned.. as the world began to shift around him, and he woke up with gross black scabs across his death wound. Even stranger when he witnessed a younger him eager to impress his mentor, Croweye.

i was going to include them on the post i just made but then decided not to lmfao... they'll be on the post for the google form announcement, but i did just write them up so i'll copypaste them here just for you <3

All weirdgirls must be minors! If the character has no confirmed age, use your best judgment.

Only one weirdgirl per piece of media can make it into the final bracket! You may submit as many as you like during the bracket creation process, though.

Media that is banned from the showdown includes Harry Potter and Homestuck. The mod reminds you that they reserve the right to exclude this media. Please respect this decision.

Prior winners are ineligible to be entered, so Lilo Pelekai from Lilo and Stitch, our winner last year, won't be included! She remains our very cute icon until the end of the second competition, though.
