Sejanus was definitely a physical manifestation of Coryo's good conscience. Sejanus represented kindness and innocence that borders on ignorance due to his upbringing, the same upbringing that Coriolanus should have had, if his father hadn't died. Sejanus lingers around, annoying Coryo with his goodness that reminded me of an angel on your shoulder.

And then we have this scene that I just can't stop thinking about where we can see how Coriolanus is not quite at Dr. Gaul's level regarding her ideas about the Hunger Games, but they're the only ones standing. She literally comes down to his level to hear his ideas. And in between them, Sejanus. She asks him what he thinks the Hunger Games are for and his answer in this moment doesn't satisfy her, and then when Sejanus dies, the barrier dissolves, and he knows the answer she wants and sets himself up to become her.

So I was drinking and talking with my friends about TBOSAS yesterday and I remember one of them joking and saying something about how the story would’ve been so much different if Coryo Snow had the same ✨goofball energy✨ as Tom Blyth (his actor).😂

I think I choked on my drink on that one, ‘cuz imagine thee Coriolanus Snow (Le Poor Cabbage Boy) with the same himbo goofball energy and carefree attitude as Tom Blyth. The Hunger Games would’ve died right there and then. Heck! Dr. Gaul would rather feed herself to her mutts or die from aneurysm than consider Himbo!Coryo as her apparent heir and apprentice.

Also, Dean Highbottom would probably be too busy dying inside whenever he sees a happy Coryo Snow smiling and skipping like an idiot while hanging out with his genuine BFF, Sejanus Plinth.🤣

Thinking about cat-like Coriolanus, dishing out his affections to Sejanus in a begrudging way, and only on his terms.

Like- stalking over to him during study period to lean his head onto his shoulder, shooting angry looks at anyone who raises a brow.

Visiting his apartment to do school work together and suddenly laying his head onto Sejanus’s lap. Grumbling as Sejanus begins to pet through his hair, but secretly loving it the whole time.

Always stealing little things from Sejanus. He takes his chewed on pencils, acquires his thick, warm sweaters that smell like him.

He follows him whenever Sejanus gets up to leave a room, needing to know exactly where his person is going.

And he always stands far too close, always sits too close as well, his thigh pressing against Sejanus’s. And if Sejanus is the one to initiate contact? Coriolanus pushes away.

can we please spread awareness of Sejanus being taller than Coriolanus? I beg of you. It's literally the only thing that annoys me of the movie, that he's shorter.

Coriolanus is, in canon, shorter than Sejanus AND EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW. Coriolanus is so annoyed by this too 😭

What actually drives me insane is that Coriolanus Snow literally said, “The thought of blackmailing old Strabo Plinth had definite appeal.” And then in District 12 he just doesn’t do that??? He could have sent the jabberjay to Strabo or just a letter hinting at its existence and the man would have folded like a cheap suit to protect his son from death. Instead he gets his arguably only friend (let’s be honest here even if he denies it) killed and thus Lucy Gray is the “only remaining love of his life.” this boy for all his proclaimed genius is really stupid. probably all that bottle bleach going to his head smh

Guys I am absolutely frothing at the mouth

I just finished my copy of shakespeare’s coriolanus and this is going to sound insane but i am completely convinced that the role that sejanus fills in the story of tbosas (whether intentionally written by suzanne collins or not) is that of virgilia (coriolanus’ wife).

They have so many parallels i'm not even joking

Virgilia is uniquely the only Roman character in the entire play that dislikes violence

Virgilia is constantly seen as pathetic by the other characters because of her refusal to engage or rejoice in the spectacle of war ei: She never views corionlanus’ wounds as something to glorify or marvel at the way menenius and volumnia do.

They also see her as pathetic because she's deeply loyal and devoted to coriolanus even though coriolanus never returns the same level of affection and only ever chooses to protect his pride and only reserves his respect and admiration for another person (aufidius/lucy gray)

Virgilia’s influence on coriolanus is extremely minimal compared to volumnia (dr. Gaul) and she's always treated as an afterthought compared to the other people in his life. He also readily condemns her and their child just to achieve his own means
