Alrighty, so I mentioned this in the notes on a post a little while ago, but allergies on top of colds.

Spring is almost here, but the suddenly changing temperature has weakened their immune system (which can actually happen!) and they've come down with a miserable cold. Congestion, exhaustion/lethargy, coughing, sneezing- the works. They've holed themselves up in their house for a few days and tried to sleep it off, and it's just started to work.

Then, spring hits with full force. Everything outside is blooming. And suddenly they're even worse off than they were before- their eyes are burning, their sinuses are pulsing, they can't take a breath without needing to sneeze. To say they're miserable would be a gross understatement. The only option is to take a double dose of Benadryl and pray they can sleep the cold off at least (can they? You decide!)

Thinking about a stranger sneezing on the back of someone’s neck.

Maybe they’re in a tightly packed line or train. They have their hands full or can’t cover their nose in time. Before they have time to warn the person the sneezes start coming and they don’t stop.

There’s so many wonderful scenarios.

Packed tightly on a train with nowhere to move.

In line at a book shop and their hands are filled with books so they can’t cover.

Waiting for a rollercoaster ride to start/end and the person behind you goes into a fit.

At a concert and someone behind you came to the show with a sneezy nose.

in your pinned post you said you help with the more academic side of things. Can you help explain good sneeze spellings and descriptions please? I use the same two in most of my stuff and I want to give the OCs in my head specific sneezes. I know how they sound but I don’t know how to write it down if that makes sense. Please send help.

Of course! I’m not exactly the expert on that sort of thing, but I am more than willing to help you out, especially since I’ve totally been there — you would not believe how I used to spell my sneezes.

Here’s a short little cheat sheet that you can use…although, if you need more specific examples, feel free to send another ask!

Releases:

______’CHNX! — a harsh stifle

______’CHH! — a less harsh stifle or more “polite” sneeze

_______’ TSH! — not quite a stifle, but a more controlled release

______’CHNXIEW! — failed stifle

______’CHNX’iew! — successful stifle with a false ending

______’CH’HIEW! — cartoony, or just more dramatic sneeze

______’CHIEW! — slightly cuter, but can be a basic sneeze

______’SHIEW! — basic wet sneeze

______’PTSHIEW! — can be cute based on volume, but can be used as basic

______’CHOO! — basic big sneeze

______’CHUH! — unapologetic, big sneeze

______’CHHHIEW! — big, wet sneeze

Build-Ups:

HUP’______! — caught off guard

HTCH’______! — basic, but usually leads to a bigger or wetter sneeze

HETCH’_______! — take cover; big and wet sneeze is on the way

HA’_______! — the jeans of build-ups; can go with pretty much anything; can also allow for bigger flares of the nostrils

GAH’______! — really caught off guard, or really didn’t want to sneeze

HIH’_______! — quick build-up; usually used for quicker, smaller, or cuter sneezes, but not always

RAH/GRAH’______! — animalistic; I usually just reserve this for furry content or monsters

Also, experiment with what gets capitalized and what doesn’t. Quiet parts can be completely lowercase, and louder completely uppercase. For example:

h’tsh! sounds a lot quieter than H’TSH!

Based on what part you want to emphasize, you can also bold or italicize. For example:

H’tsh! focuses more on the build-up, while h’TSH! focuses more on the release.

There are also COUNTLESS combinations, including within the same category (e.g TSHIEW!), so I would recommend experimenting to find what you like to use! Everyone’s spellings are different, and it depends a lot on style, tone, and plain personal preference.

Also, this is all based on my personal experience. While I tried to make it as foundational as possible, it is still quite possible you’ll have sneeze spellings very different from mine and other writers. And that’s okay! Just keep writing what makes sense and feels good to you.

Don’t worry, this gets easier with practice, I promise!

you know the perfume you’re wearing makes them itchy, but it’s not quite enough to coax out a sneeze and that’s exactly why you’re wearing it. you made sure to run it through your hair and rub it into your neck just for this occasion. you’re riding them. burying your face in their neck and making sure your hair lays across their face, making them breathe in your carefully chosen scent.

their harsh breaths start to catch on the mess building in their nose and their moans become thick with congestion. it’s not long before the sounds coming from their mouth become laced with hitches and laboured breathing.

“hh-hih! hiihh- guhhh…” the tickle subsides, just as you had planned. you know teasing their nose turns both of you on.

“tell me how it feels, baby.” you whisper into their ear, making sure your hair continues whisking around their face and poking their nostrils.

“haahh.. it-it-hh it tickles.”

“show me where.”

they remove their hands from your hips and trace their sinuses up to the bridge of their nose. “all through here. it burns. i want tohh! hihh- hahh! sneeze.”

“why don’t you sneeze then, baby?” you feign confusion, all the while continuing to ride them, eating up their delicious moans and hitches.

“iihh want to.” they grab your hair and press it into their face, breathing in deeply, only to set off another series of hitching, desperate gasps with no happy ending. “i want to so bad. please help me.”

“what if i did… this.” you grab a small piece of your hair and trace their flaring, red nostrils, just barely teasing the inside of their nose. the reaction is immediate and strong. if you keep going they will sneeze. so you stop, pinching their nose shut and letting the mess wet your fingers.

“hih! hih-hih! pl-please! put it back in.” they grab at your hair desperately, trying to put it back in their nose with hands shaking from both pleasure and the burning need to sneeze.

“ah, ah, ah. only i’m allowed to do that.” you grab the stands of hair from their hand and insert them into their nose. “i’m feeling generous today. let’s get those sneezes out of your poor nose.”

“oh-! oh my-hh-hih! hih! hih! i’m going to sn-ihHTTchhiu! tchu!tchu!chu’chu-tch’chu!” you grind down on them with each sneeze and hitch, bringing their body closer to the relief their nose is getting with every sneeze and thrust.

Their sneezing subsides and so does your movement. They whimper and grip your hips as you take the hair back to their nostrils. You’re both going to have fun tonight.

i think one of my favourite things in the world is when someone sneezes and then explains what made them sneeze…like they have to justify their sneeziness 🥺 especially when it’s something unusual or cute!

Tending to their raspy throat with warm, honey-lemon tea after relentlessly inducing them til they’ve practically screamed out their last few sneezes, just when you thought they couldn’t get any louder~

you’re laying in bed together and they tell you their nose has been itchy all day but they haven’t been able to sneeze. you prop yourself up, hold them close to you, and start lightly tracing their nostrils with your fingernail. the reaction is immediate and they start scrunching up their nose, whining in protest.

“shh baby, you’ll feel better after.” you lightly insert your finger into their nose, being met with a few soft, but desperate, hitches

“h-hih-hihh.. heh.” each small prick of your fingernail further coaxing out an increasingly whiny buildup.

they start lightly bucking their hips up and you watch the pressure grow in their pants.

“do you want me to touch this, or this?” you coo at them, poking their nose and the bulge in their pants respectively. each light touch pulls a different but equally delicious sound from your partner’s lips as they’re left desperately hitching and moaning.

“myhh my n-nose pleahhh-hih! please..”

they’re already rubbing at themself before slipping their hand under their waistband as you slip your finger back into their red nose. their hitches and moans mixing together into a slurry of desperation.

when they finally sneeze they do so full force into your hand which is already conveniently in front of their mouth. after a few seconds they sneeze again, and then again. ramping up to what seems like a full expulsion of all the day’s tickles.

their nose seems to be taking care of itself for now so you nudge their hand out of the way and take over stroking them. sneezes littered with ramping moans fill the room.

once they’re finished, their nose still seems to be quite far behind and, after a blow, they guide your hand back down to them for round two.

for the rest of the night you go back and forth between touching them and teasing their nose until you both fall asleep.
