Okay but I need to know what the people who have only watched c3 think about Beau and Caleb because I've been rotating them in my head for three years too long to be objective anymore but like. Getting to see them through the eyes of a new party just reminded me that even though so much of our delight in C2 was focused around the constant indignity of the Nein, they are objectively a flickering metronome between "how the fuck are these people alive" and "this is the most hyper competent group of mercenaries I've ever seen" and I just. Do they know. Do they know that Beau is so fucking cool. Are there people who learned these two npcs have a whole campaign and want to learn more about them. I look at these two and see a montage of tiefling dicks and red eyes and promising to kill the other if something goes wrong. I see Caleb smearing mud and bat shit on Beau's face and Beau just resigned even as she makes the most aggrieved and annoyed sounds, Beau hauling Caleb's dissociated ass over her own skinny shoulder and walking him to safety. I look at them and see 500 hours and more of the empire siblings. The weeks and months they spent going from hating the parts of themselves they saw in each other to loving in the other what they still struggled with in themselves. I see chosen siblings, best friends. What do other people see?

vax trusting gilmore even after the initial scare from the rakshasa — that tried to kill him disguised as gilmore — and allowing to be pushed off the cliff only for the wings on the vestige to work-
and then him hugging gilmore tightly while those same wings envelop them both-
is such a beautiful image that matt painted for liam and i am honestly on the verge of crying. they are special. vax and gilmore are special.

Gilmore s2 Theory
*Feat. Jazz Hands and Larkin
So this has been sitting in my head almost before ep. 12 ended, but I didn't have the energy to put words to paper and post them. On the slim chance that this holds any water, I do want to get it out before season 2.
SPOILERS! Below Cut!
By continuing you agree to the exposure of stream knowledge, plot twists, and my unavoidable rambling.
I believe that Gilmore is going to be given Seeker Assum's role in season 2, and this will be revealed with a scene similar to the stream's scene on top of a Whitestone tower.
This comes from a few of the changes that were made in season 1, and the knowledge that the crew is open to changes in order to make the story better and clarify things that they couldn't due to the improv nature of D&D. (I haven't been active in the tag for the last few months so if someone else also pointed this out I'm sorry.)
The first change is that Vax's campfire story was Hotis. It does mean that Vax stilled killed Hotis in the show but having him show up in the middle of the conclave arc for a single fight might be too out of the blue. There will be plenty of show watchers who don't remember the two second shot from episode 5. Similarly, while Seeker Assum was mentioned as a member of the council having him show up in Whitestone and suddenly be important could possibly be a neon red warning sign. Switch out Hotis for Larkin and everything is more connected and less disjointed.
The other piece of this theory is more subjective, and I am less sure of how it can be fit into the story without different problems down the line. I think that they are going to have Vax and Gilmore's relationship grow closer over the beginning of season 2. Possibly using the Gilmore/Larkin reveal to then step away from that and back towards canon.
My Watsonian explanation for this is that Vax takes Keyleth's "no" to heart. On the Doylist side I believe the crew wants to make sure that Vax's interest in Gilmore is more than just inuendo and implication. This also doubles as a way to create more of an emotional connection for the audience.
Now they might take Vax and Gilmore in this direction as it could spiral into a much larger deviation from canon than the crew wants to deal with. CR especially has been criticized for not having 'perfect' representation, and a bisexual man leaving a mlm relationship for a mlf one could bring some heat. (While on the other side I would love to see acknowledgment that being in a mlf relationship doesn't erase anyone's queer identity.) People might make a fuss over any deception involving Gilmore, especially if the story aligns closer to Seeker Assum's long con vs Hotis' quick swap.

it's so interesting and, for the lack of better word, amusing, how travis got back into his normal voice to say his bonus action when scanlan was on the death's door during the fight with the white dragon — poor guy has been clawed and bitten by a dragon and automatically got his two saving throws failed.
and i bet it wasn't grog who run up to him to poor a healing potion down his throat. it wasn't grog, who was throwing him the fuck away from the dragon. it was fucking travis with the way his voice sounded, terrified and determined and serious.
he sounded like the dad. and i find that beautiful.
