closeup of the top shelf, this one mostly has my hero academia and one piece stuff. also has my junji ito books, and the demon slayer funkos i couldn't fit anywhere else. the mha figures along the top are knockoff wcf figures, not the real thing </3 bought them as cake toppers actually. i don't have all the mha manga i'm missing quite a few, but i have smash 1-2, team up missions 1-3, and all of the school briefs light novels

middle shelf, this one is half midari ikishima shrine and half assorted manga and figures. plus the kyoka jiro plush that wouldnt fit on the top shelf

bottom shelf! the manga is double layered on the sides for space conservation, the ones in the back are et cetera 1-9, chronicles of the cursed sword 1, psychic academy 1-2, .hack legend of the twilight 1-3 and .hack another birth 1-3. those and the buso renkin books were all given to me by a friend

this is one of my favorite figures, himiko toga by banpresto. it was surprisingly cheap for how good it is, i think it was like $38? the kyoka jiro sticker is something my friend got for me when he visited japan, and it still has the original price tag on it which i think is cool. in this pic you can also see the shoyo hinata funko pop (held up by sticky tack lmao) and the kurogiri + twice funkos. these (and my many other tiny funkos) are actually keychains but i removed most of the keychain part and i display them as figures instead

jiro section!! i really want to get her other funko variations, the school festival version of her with her guitar and the gamestop exclusive ofher with her microphone. and i REALLY want a scale of her, the newest one that's on preorder right now is so fucking cute but i'm too broke for it rn :( someday she'll be mine, but for now i just have a counterfeit wcf lmao

YAMATO !!! goddd i love him so much. got this figure super recently actually, it was like last week. i saw him in boxlunch and couldnt resist

the one piece section! i accidentally cut off the nico robin wano figure in this one oops :( i have the two ace's story light novels, the heroines ln (in japanese), the first manga volume in japanese, and the first fullmetal alchemist volume in japanese (doesn't fit the theme here, i know, but it didnt fit on the other shelves). here, i also have a vinsmoke reiju figure, a boa hancock figure in the back, a robin figure (dont ask why she's in her underwear i dont know either. but man do i like it), a yor forger figure, matching wano zoro and luffy funko keychains, and all my demon slayer funko keychains. i'm pretty sure this is the full set of them, i might be missing a nezuko variation though

this small bakugo figure (which sits on top of mha ultra analysis) is the first figure i ever got, i think i got it like five years ago? i don't even remember where i got it from, it was probably a gashapon machine somewhere idk. i lost his original stand ages ago so now he's sticky tacked to a lego :(

here's a closeup on my beloved midari ikishima shrine!! on the side is stickers of her sticky tacked to the shelf, and to the left is a hatsune miku drink can and a small yuji itadori figure. the shrine consists of 6 acrylic stands, 3 keychains, 3 button pins, 2 enamel pins, two sets of stud earrings, 6 stickers, 1 playing card with her on it (above the stickers but its cut off in the pic) and a bottle of purple nail polish that exactly matches the shade of hers. and kakegurui volumes 1 and 3 ofc (i plan to add kakegurui midari and the other kakegurui manga volumes to this soon). i really want more officially licensed midari merch but it's so hard to find and there's barely any of it. the white stand that some of the stuff is sitting on is a funko pop box with paper attached to it lmao

moving down to the second shelf! here's a brook figure, i really love this guy. the sculpting on his hands is SO good

next to brook is a zenitsu figure, a giyuu tomioka figure i got from a gashapon machine, and two tbhk pins

meruem and komugi funko pop on top of the manga :') my god i love these two so much. i really want to get that bandai figure of them but its like $500 at the CHEAPEST and it's not even good quality :( i'd like to get the hunter fan studios figure of them but alas, its also $500 dollars. someday i will </3 there's also a yuji itadori acrylic stand and a yuji funko keychain to the left that i forgot to take a closeup of

i've also got the komugi funko because of course i do, and it's displayed in front of hxh vol 25 because of course it is. someday i'm gonna get the meruem and pitou pops and i want them soo fucking bad but they're harder to find. also a zoro figure! from the same set as brook and the robin and otama figures from the top shelf.

bottom shelf closeups! here's the middle of the shelf, with the rets of my hxh funkos (netero, bisky, and kurapika), my radical ed funko (i want the other two so bad but they're expensive :( got a matching keychain though), a honey senpai funko and a kuromi one. plus a cool large miku pin, a yor forger pin, and a pochita plush. i really love the all in one death note book. also, death note volume 3 (the blue one that's slightly taller than the others) was the first manga i ever got! i got it at a thrift store like four years ago i think. the k-on omnibus is the most recent manga ive gotten

yugioh section! duelest 1-4 and millennium world 1-3 were both gifts from a friend, and i got zexal 1-2 at a thrift store. they were from a school library, hence the stickers on the bottom that say west and south. really annoying, but i mostly covered them with a yugioh gameboy cartridge (i do not own a gameboy lmao). also ohshc pins!

on top of the yugioh manga is my other mha funko keychains, cubone and pikachu figures, a gudetama keychain, and a pochita necklace (which is actually a friendship necklace with my friend @/fartfeild)

other side of the shelf! the demon slayer pins have a glare on them in the pic which sucks. also have a miku pin, a gudetama coin purse thing, a mimukyu plush and figure (there's another mimikyu figure on top of the k-on manga), and four one piece pins

btw, the way i prop up the pins is by sticky tacking them onto legos!!

this thing came with one piece heroines, it's basically a second dust cover that advertises other one piece books. i kept it because of this cute nami drawing and oda's signature

honestly lowkey surprised to see how many people reacting negatively to the trailer? ive been saying to friends that we don’t really know much of anything yet, other than this basically being a partial roster reveal and a confirmation of what we’ve all suspected since mk11 ended (fresh timeline) so that’s not really much of a surprise either. Imo the biggest thing here was a release date + preorder announcement. (Speaking of, I don’t believe Shang Tsung will end up being a preorder only bonus. Dlc? Oh yeah absolutely but I can’t see them restricting him like that. If anything it’ll just be a waiting period before the rest of us get our hands on him.) We don’t even know which Sub Zero that was lmao there’s still really not much story knowledge to be had.

We’ll definitely be getting more information the closer we get to the release date, whether via official channels or leaks, and with that I’ll form more of a solid anticipatory opinion on my expectations but right now it feels too early to go anywhere past ‘oh shit new game this year!’ because we really don’t. Have anything outside of that? Unless some of y’all have inside sources you aren’t sharing djfkfkf in which case, sharing is caring.

I’m excited to potentially see more of Edenia and I’m really curious about what Liu Kang’s version of events will look like. I’m also wondering if they end up pulling something similar to Dark Raiden with Human Raiden where it only lasts for like like half an hour and then he’s normal again, I think that’d be a bit funny. If they let me run around and explore I will be absolutely fucking Delighted. If they have some sort of create a fighter thing going on? (Liu Kang’s voiceover maybe might possibly have hinted it?? Could just be wishful thinking on my end) I would be even more thrilled if that were the case. The tag team thing from what I understand of it now does confuse me a bit, and if given the choice I’d prefer a larger roster over a tag in format, but like I said, I’ll hold off on any strong feelings about that until I see more of it.

Also I think I’m more relaxed about the announcements for this franchise because it’s not like a new timeline completely negates the old one. Normally time travel and its related tropes kill my interest on arrival, but with mk it always struck me as more exploratory than anything else. What I’m saying is you can still vibe with other timelines more than the new one and they’re all still equally canon since they exist separately. 30 years of canon would be an unholy mess to keep track of if they intended to have it all be continuous, from a storytelling perspective having multiple timelines was probably the best choice they could have made with the circumstances given.

Idk I’m just interested to see where this goes and excited to see more from this universe, and it feels like some people are just determined to find something to pick apart no matter what. There will be more than enough space for criticism once we get the final product, a two minute cinematic showing off a partial roster and what will almost definitely be some fatalities isn’t enough to go off of yet. I’ll definitely be finding something in the new game to latch onto in canon and have fun with & I’m looking forward to seeing what aspects of it end up resonating with me in the end

everything you said about jk's solo is exactly how I feel. I'm so happy that he's finally dropped his own music officially and it's something he is proud of. That's all I could ever ask as a fan – that he's still happily working on his music and his style. But since Seven dropped I had mixed feelings that I kept to myself because, yeah, everyone loves it. I feel kind of scared to say or even think about my real opinion on this song (or really the whole direction this first solo album is heading towards given recent news) because I don't want to be perceived as some stuck up, sensitive fan complaining about things that jk is actually happy with. He's my bias and maybe that's why I care that much more about the music he puts out. I would've loved to see jk contribute more to his solo music and I don't want it to be drowned out completely by people who seem to know "best" about the Western market. In saying that, I always knew jk could adapt to any genre and I'm glad he was able to give this one a go. Idk maybe I'm overthinking this too much...

there’s a few things i kept seeing confusion about, so i’ll try to clear it up the best i can with my amateur enthusiast knowledge. 

disclaimer: all of this could be completely wrong. this is just what i’ve learned from working as a bookseller in the past and taking a few classes on publishing and just generally doing a lot of personal research into it both as a reader and with interest in joining the industry. i do not know dan’s individual situation, nor am an expert by any means. i am also coming at this as a canadian, so the innerworkings of uk/us publishing are just from what ive learned here.

1) the uk vs us edition

the uk cover is the one without dan’s face on it. the us cover is the one with dan’s face on it. its not uncommon to have multiple covers and putting someones face on the cover is a very american publisher thing to do, personally i really like both. the cover you get is dependent on where you/your country order the book from.

if you ordered from danandphilshop or shop.danielhowell, you will be getting the uk cover, as it is a uk business. if you ordered from the us store right when the book was announced and before the signed copies sold out, it will probably be the uk cover (more on that in the bit about signed books). after that, i’m not sure because i do not know how irlmerch’s distribution works. 

one thing to note is all books have an ISBN number which is like a universal barcode for the book at all stores and it comes from the publisher. the beginning of the isbn dictates the publisher/language/product type/etc and the end identifies the particular book. the uk edition and the us edition have different isbn numbers, as will the ebook, audiobook, etc. this is a good way to figure out which edition you are buying from your local bookstore, and you can cross reference with the isbn in uk or us stores. its usually listed at the bottom of the product page online.

if you live in a country besides the us or the uk, it depends whether the book is being distributed or published in your country. distribution is often more cost effective, and is usually the way it works. as far as i know, dan’s book is being distributed (not published) to the countries on this list with the exception of the us where it is being published (not distributed). if a book is being published in a country, it will have a different isbn and sometimes a different cover. if a book is being distributed it will have the same isbn and cover as the country it is distributed from (usually the closest publishing hub, so london or new york in this case).

to know what edition is in your country, you can compare the isbn numbers and/or the covers. you can also take a look at your other books to see whats normal in your country to get sort of an idea. im assuming europe will get the uk edition but im not sure about other countries.

here in canada for example, our books are usually distributed from the US meaning you will be getting the us cover if you order the book from a canadian store. i ordered from irlmerch when dan’s book was announced though, so i think im getting the uk edition.

1.5) covers and book design

most of the time, especially with new authors, the author has very little say in the final decisions re: book cover and book design. they usually get input, and the publisher gets final say. book design is also a very different thing then general graphic design and professionals genuinely go to school for this. thats not to say there arent bad book designs or that regular people can’t do it too, it’s just something to keep in mind. 

2) signed books vs signed editions

there are a few different ways that signed books can work. primarily, there are signed editions and signed books. both are physically signed by the author, the difference is when in the process these books are signed.

signed books is the ‘old-fashioned’ way, where the author will sit at a table and sign copies of their book. the author usually signs on the title page and for a long time, this was the only way to do it. they have already been printed by the publisher so they will have the same isbn as unsigned books. signed books are usually more limited, often they can be personalized, and if you have ever gone to a proper book signing where the author signed the book in front of you, you have a signed book. signed books are also sometimes made available at the authors local bookstore because they are able to sign them in person. as far as i know, the books that were ordered from danandphilshop or shop.danielhowell during the initial signed run will be signed books. i also believe there are/were limited signed books from uk retailers, i think those are/were signed books (not editions) where the isbn matches the normal first edition of the book. 

signed editions are a fairly new thing, and have made signed books so much more accessible which is awesome! signed editions have a different isbn then their normal edition and signed book counterparts. they are technically two different books and are listed as a separate book in stores. that is because signed editions have one (1) extra page. this allows the author to be sent boxes of pages, not books, to sign BEFORE the books are bound. the pages are then sent back to the publisher to be included in the final printed copy of the book.

signed editions help authors to sign even more copies which allows for things like signing hundreds of thousands of copies of a book in some cases. if you are familiar with john green’s books (and hank’s too), he is a large part of the reason signed editions increased in popularity. for example, his book turtles all the way down had a signed edition and a normal edition, they were the same price but the signed edition included the one more page that john had signed. this also allows authors to do fully signed first edition runs, such as john’s new book the anthropocene reviewed (which comes out the same day as dan’s book lol), where every single copy of the first edition is signed (so there is no such thing as an unsigned american first edition, this is becoming more popular for some authors to do especially if the first edition print is not very a large quantity).

if you saw dan’s ig story from today (which was almost definitely a delayed post lmao), he was signing the signed edition papers that will be bound in the signed edition copies of the book in the us. as far as i know, it is only the us publisher that has this option. as you can see on the us store books-a-million, there is a signed edition and a normal edition. they are listed seperately and there are different isbns. the signed edition will be bound with the one extra page that dan has signed. 

both types of signed books have been actually signed by dan and are so cool to have if that’s something you want and are able to get. if not, you’re not missing much.

3) book piracy and pricing

i’m not here to tell you what to do, so i won’t. i know being able to buy books is a privilege and dan is a millionaire. full stop. he doesn’t need the money and you probably do.

books are expensive. the difference between cost and price of a book can vary drastically. does your calc textbook actually cost the publisher $300? probably not, but it does cost more per copy to print less copies of something (like a textbook) then it does to print millions of copies of a nyt bestseller. does a $24 book cost that much to develop/print/distribute? maybe. 

but most of that money goes to the publisher. the fact of the matter is authors get very little from the actual sale of the book (usually only a couple dollars), which okay, not exactly convincing you against piracy but hear me out. the actual number of sales a book has lets a publisher know how successful a book is, which helps to decide how many more prints/editions are made and often dictates future opportunities for authors.

a series of books that i love is very popular on tumblr, but there was a serious problem a few years ago where copies of the book were being pirated so much, sales were down so drastically, that the publisher almost didn't continue to publish the series. in the case of smaller authors or your favourite ongoing series, buying your copy of the book could be the difference between the existence of the next book or not.  in dan’s case, i don’t know what his future plans are, idk if he plans to write more in the future, but i do know that publishers look at previous sales to decide if they are going to publish a book in the future.

ebooks are usually cheaper and more accessible if money is an issue. used books, while not helping with sales, are also a great option if you’re willing to wait and look around. you can often request your local library buy a book and read it that way, or they might even already have it. there probably even audiobooks and ebooks at your local library. stores like am*zon are usually cheaper as well. online stores of large chains like b&n and indigo will often have the books cheaper to match amazon. however if you can, support your local bookstore.

of course if the author is a horrible person do whatever tf you want. also fuck the textbook industry. 

tldr: dan worked really hard on his book with professionals to make it the best it could possibly be. i think it looks beautiful, and it will help a lot of people. the publishing industry is a mess but really cool. check the isbn of the copy you ordered if you want clarification or you can just wait for the surprise.

It’s a commitment, but also, easy to just take a breather from my day to see how they’re doing and then continue working on whatever I was doing. I also downloaded the MyMeets thing bc I kinda want to try and make my own pixel bg bc wouldn’t that be cute??? Would also want to commission Poo for one as well bc I always liked their pixel works. I’ve also wanted a Sanrio Meets one, but they’re SO expensive, so I’m going to wait a bit before buying one. I really want to marry Sanrio meets tamas to my On and I think it would be cute to see. The blue one is technically my fiances (though I’m the one that mostly looks out for it) and the other one is mine. I named my first tama child Denjitchi, after Denji from Chainsaw Man bc I read that a couple weeks back and FELL IN LOVE. I really love the characters and world, and it’s how I felt with Dorohedoro, where the world seems so dire? But the character relationships are so fun and you get attached to so many. I also really love how it’s violent, but also fun??? Not only that but the concept fo their abilities are weird in a cool way, the devils are kinda freaky too and I love that. Also love the entrance of the Darkness Devil and the name itself made me laugh bc u know. LMAO-- I like the sense of dark humor it has. After that, I made sure to preorder both Denji and Power nendoroids bc I love their relationship the most! I wonder if there’s gonna be a part 2... I need it, after the heartbreak I experienced with Aki...

I also figured out how to buy nijisanji goods, so I caved and bought chronoir kuma rubber charms and they’re so cute, I don’t want to take em out of their plastic-- I have no idea where I want to hang these either bc I don’t want them to get dirty or lost bc they’re expensive. I also preordered two Kuzuha nendoroids from different sites (bc they have different preorder bonus LMFAO) along with Himawari nendo bc I like her too and I swear nendos NEVER really caught my attention before, but for SOME REASON goodsmile started coming out with REALLY good ones that appealed to me and now I find myself wanting a new one every month??? Smh, calm down!! Anyway, Idk why I like vtubers-- something about watching someone with a cute anime avatar just doing something so mundane such as playing video games or singing is a nice comfort to me ever since quarantine happened. Like not only that, but all the Holostar goods I ordered months ago are all finally being shipped and idk where the heck I’m gonna put those either LMAO.

Hmm what else, in February, I got a instax printer thingy and I’m having fun testing out how my art works look on it! I think it would be cute to make personalize polaroid pics for others too as a commission, though I’m a lil hesitant atm because it’s kind of hard to not have the colors too washed out. When I was testing it on Kii, I had to bring the brightness down along with increasing the saturation and contrast just so that his colors wouldn’t be so washed out! 

Besides talking to close friends, I’ve been keeping mostly to myself on social media, not even posting art everyday, which is nice, but also social media has skewed my relationship with art where if I’m not posting it, then I’m just wasting time. I’m still trying to get over the fact that I’m not just an artist and that I’m allowed to venture out into new things and work on projects myself without having to post every single detail about it on the internet. Every since I graduated university, I shifted from just drawing all the time to having more time to find more interests outside of art. Sushi and Poo convinced me to do journaling as well, so I started that in February and it’s been fun to write down unfiltered thoughts, even though it’s a mess, along with making random spreads. I enjoy being able to still be creative without having to post it, you know? I’m still trying to find my flow when it comes to balancing commissions and my own projects and interests-- I have to keep myself accountable with my own schedule.

There are so many things I want to do, but it’s easy to feel so overwhelmed that I end up not doing any of it at all and reverting back to whatever I’ve always done. I enjoy immersing myself in my work, my projects, my interests. I want to do that, but at the same time I do need to be active on social media from time to time because I still need to do commissions. I like sharing my work to have that connection with others, I just don’t like the pressure of trying to upkeep an audience or anything that social media culture pushes onto people. I guess that’s why I still like tumblr because I can just post whatever and not care too much lol. That’s all I can think of from the top of my head in this convoluted, messy, post about my life (I say this as if it's not some essay or some shit lmao). Nothing really eventful tbh??? Just been doing my own thing and then I would have weekly voice calls with Sushi and Poo and then catch up to other friends once or twice a month.

HI CLARI ITS 🦖 and my goodness part 3 is incredible!! i wanted to send something in last night after i finished reading but i needed a bit to process... i reread it this morning so i could properly absorb it and AH i absolutely adore it

first off — i LOVE the way you use, like, anatomical descriptions?? idk if that’s even the right term but the way you utilize drool and blood and bones is just so beautiful. tomura’s breakdown and the blood and crystals in that scene in particular had me speechless

and speaking of tomura’s breakdown, that whole scene was heartbreaking. tomura’s downward spiral and the way that it affected the reader really hit home for me — (tw mental illness) my ex struggled with drug use and really bad delusions, and ive had my own troubles with depersonalization. so i felt for both tomura and reader. this piece felt really cathartic, especially the part where dabi was telling reader “you cant save him”.

i just... i truly have no words to describe my love for this universe and these characters. thank you so so much for creating such a beautiful piece and for working so hard 🥺 and when you publish your book based on bmb i will preorder that shit so fast hehe

truly, thank you so much for sharing this with me. (i was just saying this to someone in the comments but) i pulled a lot from my own experiences and struggles with mental illness (so much so that i triggered MYSELF lmao) and hearing that it resonated with people who have either gone through something similar or had a person in their life go through something similar seriously means the entire world to me. mental illness is very personal and it can manifest differently from person to person, but i’m more than happy that my depictions of it were relatable in some way to others in addition to myself!!

even though i did end up wounding myself a little while writing it, it was extremely cathartic for me as well, and i’m so happy you felt that way!!! i hope others who have suffered or experienced similar scenarios/emotions are able to find some catharsis or comfort in it as well <3 YES my mom said that to me when i was very young (she said ‘you can’t help someone who doesn’t want help’) after an incident in our family and it really stuck with me. but it’s very true.

I think the first time I heard it I liked it but it wasn’t an “I LOVE THIS SONG” as soon as I heard it. Buuuuuut, the more I heard it the more it grew on me and now I really really love this song. It makes me super happy to listen to and makes my mood rise whenever I hear it.

Pretty savage~ 10000/10

Pretty Savage is that bitch and you’re lying to yourself if you say you hate this song. The beat, the vocals, the raps 🙈✨ Oh and then when Jennie is like “saaaaavvvvvaaaagggggeeeee” and Jisoo saying “you better run run run” 🥵 Rosé saying “pretty girl” and everytime Lisa says “all my diamonds blah blah” oh my god. So I had a lot of hopes for this song because of Cardi B but it kind of fell through. To clarify I really do like this song, when it comes on I don’t skip it because I still enjoy it but it isn’t my favorite off the album. Rosé’s vocals saved this song and it shows lmao. Like I said, still like the song but it’s not my favorite.

Lovesick girls~1000/10

Okay so when I first heard this I thought it was super cute and I liked it but it was just 🤷‍♀️ for me. But for some reason I just kept rewatching the MV (I don’t stream cause I ain’t got time for all that) and I would replay it everytime it came on. There are lyrics that really hit home. To be specific: “we were born to be alone but why we still looking for love” , “Everyone eventually leaves, I’ve become numb to crying, Hurt over and over again”. There were more but those are the ones that stuck out to me the most. I feel like this song applies a lot to things and relationships (like friendships and other relationships) I’ve had or have so it just hits a little different. Of course there also is Jennie’s iconic rap and then the MV! Lisa’s jacket that has flashing lights hits different, Rosé with pink hair in the bathtub, Jisoo in water 😭😭 Oh my god I can’t! I really love this song and music video.

Crazy over you~ 10000/10

Once again, this song is that bitch. It’s the beat for me and when they say “sound the alarm”, “I’m crazy over you” oh gosh it’s perfect 🥴😭 And the vocals right before the “I am crazy over you”!!!!! Don’t even get me started on Rosé and Jisoo 😭 JeSuS this song lives in my head rent free. I LOVE this song. The way I walk around the house just repeating “I am crazy over you” and dance is embarrassing. That song makes me feel like a bad bitch for some reason. Everything about it is perfect. Pretty Savage was my fafavorite song but I think this has replaced it honestly. I could go on and on as to why this song is THAT song but I’ll save y’all the headache lmao.

Love to hate me~9/10

So I don’t hate this song but it was pretty forgettable for me. The first time I heard it, it was my least favorite. It’s not that I hate it because it’s constantly stuck in my head but it just doesn’t stick out to me as much as the other songs do. However, this song hits a little different. Like the lyrics 🙈✨ Oh and I really love the part where they’re lowkey whispering. Like the “wake up, yeah, make up, maybe” that part and then Lisa’s rap....those parts hit a little different. So yeah, not my favorite but still a good song.

This was the perfect way to end the album. A softer song that has that raw emotion...absolutely beautiful. This song really really hits home. A lot of people think I’m this perfect person because I’m pretty smart, I have good friends, I get the leads in the plays and musicals, im nice to everyone, I go to an art school and it basically just seems like im thriving but the truth is I do be struggling. I have a lot of hardships I’ve had to overcome and that I’m still overcoming yet a lot of people don’t know that. I’ve gone through a lot to be where I am today and people like to think I have this perfect life because that’s the front I put up. So this song just hits a little different. When Jennie sings the chorus that really hit different because it just made me think of how much hate and bullshit she has to go through. Obviously I also thought about all the hate every single one of them has to put up with. We think their lives are perfect yet we’ll never truly know how much they struggle unless we’re in their shoes. This song is so beautiful and the vocals just....wow. Idk what it is about how Jisoo starts the song but there is something so pretty about how she sings. Anyway, love this song so much. I saw some people say this was forgettable but I completely disagree. The lyrics hit different. Even if you haven’t gone through what the girls are singing about, you’ve experienced someone who has and I feel like thinking about that person while listening to the song just makes your heart hurt a little. Idk, this song is so perfect to me.

Physical Album Thoughts~

So, the physical album is super cute! So for version 3 I had the impression that it was going to have a smoky look but it ended up just being shinny so that was lowkey weird lmao. I got version 2 because pink is my favorite color but I almost got the 3rd version (version 4 was sold out when I went to preorder) so I’m glad I got the 2nd version. I love the cover of the photo book, it’s so beautiful and it was a nice little surprise that the picture changes. All of the pictures in each of the photo books are so so cute! The girls look absolutely stunning. I personally perfer their past photo books only because I’m a sucker for the concept photos and seeing pics from the music video buuut like I said all of the pictures are beautiful and I’m so happy with the quality and how many pictures are in the photo book. The only other problem I had with the photo book is I wish they did it like the past ones where all of the pink versions had color with the black stuck to the darker gray, white, and black themes. Version 2 is kind of like both of the black versions but still, the pictures are great so I cant complain at all! Love the postcards and they feel very smooth. Great pictures, could look at them all day. Love the size of the poster, very cute! I saw pictures of the group PCs and I wish they were different cause they kind of looked the same but maybe they look different in person. The sticker is so cute, love the black and white picture you get, and I LOVE the random postcards and random photo cards. Overall, you get a lot and I’m in love with the packaging. Some little things that bothered me but the quality was great so I can’t complain 🤷‍♀️

Final thoughts~

Everything about this album is perfect. There are no songs that I hate or dislike. None that I skip and none I wouldn’t listen to by itself. I disagree with people saying pretty savsavage should have been the title track instead of lovesick girls. We got the black with how you like that, we got the pink with ice cream, and lovesick girls was a mix of the two. Obviously that song meant something to the girls since Jisoo and Jennie wrote some of the lyrics and helped produce it. I think people would have complained if Pretty Savage was the title track because they always want the girls to do “something different” and lovesick girls was something different. At first I was a little sad by the fact that there were only 8 songs but honestly I’d rather have quality over quantity. Each song felt like they spent a lot of time on it and if there were more songs I feel like there would have been some filler songs so the quality wouldn’t have been as good as it is now. Like I said, packaging was cute and you get a lot. The issues I had are more personal issues and they don’t really bother me all that much so the positives out way the negatives by a LOT!

Idk what or why I thought of this, but unfortunately I did, so sorry in advance

Also yes this is technically a non-volleyball au bc I really can’t wrap my head around a future where Ushijima doesn’t play volleyball. And as a side-note, I’m not an expert, I just thought this would be fun

Iwaizumi

- No offence to the other two, but I feel like Iwaizumi would have the best social skills out of the three of them

- If anybody of them were to have the idea to start a business together, it would probably be him. They’d probably be acquaintances with each other, he knows Ushijima because Oikawa hates him and probably met Asahi somehow through Kageyama (HIGHKEY HC THAT IWAIZUMI AND KAGEYAMA HAVE A GREAT FRIENDSHIP BUT THEY’RE JUST NOT VERY VOCAL ABOUT IT AND OIKAWA GETS SALTY)

- They have Kiyoko as an assistant who takes care of the regular stuff, but Iwaizumi sometimes takes orders for customers who want super specific things (one time this dude wanted 20 revolving bookcases that hid secret rooms around his house. It took Ushijima and Iwaizumi 3 months to complete them all)

- Like Ushijima, don’t see him having a specialty? I think he mostly just does the in between stuff

- Ushijima is fine with doing house calls for literally everything except for kitchen cabinets (rip the kitchen cabinet incident of 2018), so Iwaizumi takes care of those

- Also keeps everyone sane and on task, chases away all the Karen’s

- Mostly does customized furniture. Ushijima will do most of the basic stuff, while Iwaizumi polishes it and does the finer details like if there’s any designs that he needs to carve

- Just? An? All-rounder? Loves creating things, it’s therapeutic for him (gives him a break from Oikawa) and he likes creating things that are tangible, like how in volleyball you can feel the ball and are really present

- Oikawa has definitely stopped by before. He met Tendou one time and now it’s their personal goal to annoy Iwaizumi and Ushijima as much as possible

- You CANNOT tell me that Iwaizumi Perfect Husband Material Hajime does not cook or bake, I refuse to believe this

- Sometimes brings in food for the gang and has definitely purposely made milk bread on days when Oikawa has plans just to spite him

- The garbage can in the corner of his studio has “Oikawa” written on it and is used solely for when he wants to scrap an idea

- Has a shelf filled with different small trinkets he’s made when bored and some pictures (even one of Oikawa except Iwaizumi would rather die than tell him that)

- His workspace is actually the most comfy? He probably gets headaches from Oikawa a lot, and likes to feel relaxed when working, so he has a really nice chair and a couch with blankets in case he stays late and is too tired to go home

- It’s not overly nice though, or he’d never get Oikawa to leave. It’s just a nice room with a few personal touches but still keeps the productive atmosphere

- Unlike Asahi, is not afraid of threatening to use any knives he may have lying around to scare off Oikawa

- People love him? He’s just really polite and also makes sure to explain everything and offer fair prices

Asahi

- As we all know, despite his appearance, he really is a soft guy

- I think out of the three of them, Asahi would also be the most artistically inclined, definitely very detail-oriented and loves working on smaller-scale projects 

- So less of your traditional carpenter or construction worker carpenter, more like a woodworker than anything else

- Probably does a lot of nature-inspired works and things that are more for display purposes

- Specializes in birdhouses and cuckoo clocks, loves to add flower details on the side

- During Christmas, he gets flooded with orders for Christmas tree ornaments, to the point where there are people preordering all the way in July (trust me, everything Asahi makes is very very pretty and worth preordering that far in advance)

- His workroom faces a forest and the window is always open because he claims the fresh air helps him concentrate

- Loves to work outside, although it’s a little hard for him because he has so much equipment and of course it rains just when he’s set up outside

- Also takes nature walks during his breaks to get more inspiration

- Gets a little shy when talking to customers so tends to stay holed up in his workroom, but also loves hearing their thoughts on the finished product

- Sometimes scares customers when they see a 6’ tall guy holding a knife, but it’s just for his whittling!!!

Ushijima

- I get the feeling he’s the most likely to work on a construction site

- But bc I want the three of them to work in the same business, bc I could kinda see that happening, let’s say that he mostly does their maintenance and assembly work

- But does sometimes do temp work as a side job to help out crews that might be missing people

- Mostly, he’d do the house to house repairs and large furniture like tables and chairs. Also does flooring and dabbles in roof retiling 

- I think he’d probably start out in the business if his dad or someone else he really respected did carpentry before him, and he thought that since he looked up to them, he should follow in their footsteps

- Don’t see him having a real specialty? He’s just known for being really good at basically everything, like he is with volleyball, and for being strong

- Like Asahi, can’t actually interact with the customers

- He’s not a huge fan of small talk, so often intimidates the customers bc of his silence (really he just doesn’t know how to respond it if he’s supposed to)

- His workspace isn’t very pretty, but it’s organized and functional. Probably doesn’t have anything personal there, but there’s a pile of shounen jump that Tendou updates weekly so that he can have someone to talk to about manga

- Ultimately this backfires since Ushijima ends up just reading the ads, but Tendou keeps it up for the day when he can convince Ushijima to finally read manga

- Jokes on him, Ushijima does read manga, although it’s exclusively shoujo

Honestly? Their personalities may not be the most complimentary, but they work well together and I can see them being pretty good friends after awhile. Ushijima will probably never stop bringing up the Shiratorizawa thing to Oikawa though lmao

I know it makes some feel uncomfortable and God knows I don’t like it at all and wonder why it ever had to happen. We should always be critical of the media we’re presented with, and I’m often so glad I found my way here where I feel comfortable discussing things with others who feel the same (because wow have i ever and very enthusiastically lol)

But what happened with that post, it’s not okay. There’s no reason it needed to get to that level and seeing people who claim to support Liam celebrating it getting picked up by entertainment media outlets is ??? Because who is it benefiting?? It makes Liam look bad; I’m sure it absolutely makes him feel bad; for all the talk of Maya being super young idk if anyone cares about her but it doesn’t do her much justice; it’s not going to suddenly end the stunt any sooner, like “oof lol sike you got us!” and anyone who was at least here for Gigi and Cheryl should know that. And like you mentioned, I just don’t understand how we went from Liam saying things like “when will it end” and opening up about dark moments that almost killed him to feeling like it’s our place to directly call him out on a relationship most of us don’t even believe is real! I read the apparently leaked plot line of TLOUP2 from a screenshoted post on 4chan and I just... if ND seriously approved of that writing then they've really wasted all those years of development and fucked over a fanbase who seriously love Ellie and her storyline lmao. It's just sucks that a lot of these games that people hype about nowadays have all these leaks from ex devs and workers just seem really perfectly timed for some reason, considering they refunded preorders etc. (1/2)

(2/2) I completely agree that it is wrong for devs to be putting so much pressure on their staff to get the games they work on completed but it also feels like with every game which has a massive fanbase/following, like CD Projekt and the Witcher games with the overtime stuff, also gets these leaks and a huge amount of shitty reception from people before anything official is released. Idk maybe there's more to this than what's been rumoured.

omg im literally in shock at this whole thing like i went directly from being a pete stan for 3 years to stanning green day for like 2 months and have been fixated on swmrs/ultra q for 2 1/2 years and im like, deep enough that i usually know what and neither i nor anyone else i know saw this coming.

in retrospect it makes perfect sense. im only like 80% sure all of this is correct as megacorporations are deliberately confusing and im very high and this is all taking me like an hour to write but anyway

fall out boy left their label, island, which i believe is part of universal and not warner. green day are on warner, and weezer is on a subsection of warner, atlantic. i would not be surprised if fall out boy are in the process of joining warner. swmrs are on fueled by ramen, which is a subsection of warner. swmrs label uncool might as well be a gateway to warner, and there’s only so many small alternative labels on warner.  

in terms of my opinion? both jakob and joey were bred to be sellouts, so like that isnt a surprise. im kind of interested in where this is going. on the one hand, everyone is putting out really, really bad music right now. fall out boy, panic at the disco, swmrs, and green day have all disappointed me. so i dont really know if i have high hopes or very low ones.

i definitely think the ultra q EP could have been better. gool and redwoood i initially disliked but they grew on me. i loved we get along and what dya call it blew my god damn mind. wild was ok. i like her a lot personally but i feel like she could have been better. the oldest member of ultra q is only 21 and the youngest was 18. swmrs were still emilys army at those ages. i feel like ultra q are just so young that they still have room to improve.

i feel like the decision to release the EP on dcd2 was very rushed? the album art is just an old photo of adie and they’ve been playing stuff live that isn’t on the ep since may. one of the songs has enzo screaming in it, which i feel is very experimental and cool. so far jakobs suits/eyeshadow and their sort of retro aesthetic looks promising to me, although in my dream world where bands are still theatrical they all wear makeup and all black formal. but bands are BORING nowadays so i am content with jakobs suits and chris’ all black and jewelry. ANYWAY,  jakob had a bunch of demos on soundcloud also not on the ep before he deleted them. it was also super weird for them to release the gool/redwood 7” on uncool with a preorder and everything but not release a cd or tape or anything for the full length album. its just strange and i feel like this was last second. idk how to feel about any of this lmao

Not open about their relationship, while it wouldn’tcompletely be frowned upon by all—internal affairs would most likely notapprove… They don’t do public displays of affection, at least not intentionallyfor that reason alone.

Darling wishes they could. Trench is just happy hecan’t—because he thinks they’d look ridiculous.

4. First impression of each other? Was it love at firstsight?

Love, at first sight, doesn’t exist, or Dr. Darling wouldcontemplate it but always assume it was unlikely to be real. Trench certainlydoesn’t believe it, either. When they met, it was curiosity about each other,really that later drew to fondness that drew to attraction and genuineaffection.

Darling is just Darling, always losing the honorific. Trench occasionally gets a “Zach” that doesn’t land well. They don’t do nicknames particularly well. Honey, babe and etc. just doesn’t feel right in the long run.

Dr. Darling has issues communicating himself/his emotionsproperly when in a relationship; Trench is shut out from his emotions usuallyentirely. Both would like for each other to fix that about themselves but knowit’s unlikely.

Darling likes best the fact that Trench is just that patientwith him, and manages to put up with him even if he goes on nonsensical tangents.  

Meanwhile, Trench likes best the fact that Darling is morethan he can appear to be. A genius, if one would.

All the time. It comes up and they don’t shudder away fromit. They find discussions to be comfortable, especially if it gives insightinto what is on the other’s mind.

Drives: Both can, but usually it’s Trench as he has a car,Darling doesn’t. It’s mostly the city, really. Makes it uncomfortable to have acar, traffic is a nightmare there.

Cooks: Darling’s pretty okay at it, not perfect or extremelytalented but he can manage. Trench can somewhat, too, but not quite as good asthe other.

Handiwork: Both try to, Darling admittedly has the upperhand. Yet, if something breaks, they don’t put it off; they try to deal with itas soon as possible.

Cleans: Trench figures, if he’s not too tired, it’s theleast he can do while the other cooks.

Pay the bills: as both live in separate apartments they paytheir own.

Office parties for Christmas happen; they both turn up tonot lose face. Admittedly-- separately. That’s the closest they manage to that.It once almost ended in a total disaster even under those settings (very drunkDarling got very jealous), so they didn’t bother much after. They turn up,greet people, and have a couple drinks then split— while trying not to seemsuspicious.  They might meet up at one orother’s apartment later, baring more alcohol, but that’s about it. Anniversaries would be cute—but they both can’t be bothered with it.

Utter betrayal of their work/the FBC, and it would bepermanent.

It’s hard to gauge, they do care and would prefer to keep the other safe, but it’s hard to do that either way... isn’t it?

As for love… Love is ridiculous to assume exist to beingwith, both would think that. They wouldn’t classify what they have as “love”but there is a fondness, appreciation and what not. Trench thinks and hates it,that he is attached to Darling, and it would hurt to lose him in any sense.Darling, knows he’s in over his head, but he really can’t get over the other.
