Owl facts- by me, Dapper!

Greetings and Salutations! In this post, I'm going to talk about: OWLS!

Owls are one of my favourite animals, I've always been enthralled by them, so I shall waste no more time getting into

FACT 1: Owls have asymmetrical ears! This is so they can pinpoint where sound is coming from!

FACT 2: Owls may seem to have "ears," but the "ears" are actually just tufts on the bird's head!

FACT 3: If you were to look into an owl's ear, you could see the back of their eyes!

FACT 4: Owls' eyes actually take up the majority of the space in their heads, so their brains are quite small!

FACT 5: Owls can NOT move their eyes, hence why they move their heads, because they can't move their eyes (and, by proxy, their pupils)!

FACT 6: The owl known as the Stygian Owl (or as its nickname "The Devil's Owl" due to its tufts looking like horns) has orange-yellow eyes. However, when artificial light reflects off them, they turn a striking shade of red! (THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU SHOULD SHINE LIGHTS INTO OWLS' EYES, IT CAN DAMAGE THEM.)

I PASSED IT #I NOW HAVE AN ORAL EXAM NEXT TUESDAY #AND BY THE FOLLOWING MONDAY I'LL KNOW IF I'M IN OR NOT #for what i've heard. the oral exam is basically just an interview where they ask you about your phd proposal #so it should be fine #it just depends if they like it or not i guess

#and by trouble you of course understand that i mostly mean doflamingo #but also laws well established penchant for doing Bad Ideas in coras name #of course if i end up rewriting the damn thing again it may end up being out slightly later than monday but we have two days for editing #so it should be fine

Was at the airport in Austria when they announced a massive delay on my flight to Belgium. Not gonna make my UK connection. Go to help desk. She taps away at the keyboard for a few minutes.

"You're going through Munich instead."

"Okay, that's fine."

"Your flight leaves in ten minutes."

"My flight WHAT"

She nearly throws my passport back at me. "Go. Run. It's that way."

"OKAY!!!!"

I sprint through the terminal. I get in line to board. I arrive.

I did not know I was going to Munich today but that's just another of life's little excitements I guess.

My mum: *ends up getting the German audiobook for it because I loved the book so much and recommended it to her*

They didn't ask me to do this, but everyone should follow bee_barb on twitch cause they're very cool and just starting out and they play a fishing simulator that is incredibly relaxing to watch (and most importantly, they're not on tumblr so they'll have no idea I made this post)

hopefully i'm not getting ahead of myself with the second job idea but i'm v excited abt the possibility

#i miss the kiddos!!!!#and like 3 of my coworkers lol #but it may not be any real benefit to have someone who can only come in for 1.5 hours a day to close #bc they would be paying me potentially more than one of my coworkers to do the same thing #then they would have two people working middle shift bc im gonna close but they're still paying them like full time and then paying me also #idk it may not work for them #however theybcant retain people for shit in that program and nobody wants to close except me lol #so it mught be worth it #if they can offer more middle or opening shifts to people #also what they really need is a fourth full time teacher innthat room but they'll never do it #but another part time teacher could help bridge the gap in coverage so that it works #maybe #idk #i would really love to do it i think #bc all the issues there were related to being full time but i dont think they'll be too hard on me if i'm part time #like i'm an independent contractor basically and i have another full time job so its not like im desperate #they cant shit on me or ask me to do anything but the shift i told them i could do lol #so it should be fine #there's literally no superviser during closing i'm basically my own boss and there's nothing to do except hand the kids off #then clean and lock up #no decisions whatsoever #im letting myself get way too excited tho #bc it could potentially not work out #this has been a shitpost

Never have I been more happy to live in a country that people have no idea exists most of the time because I have never been more happy that the uoa library was under construction, and that basically every study space on campus was taken by 8am, and bc of that we went to a local library instead.

DAMN THAT MAN ALSO STUDYING AS THE LIBRARY WAS FINE. MAN HAD TOJI BODY TYPE AND I WAS LIVING FOR IT ... I WAS ONLY PLANNING TO STUDY FOR 3 HOURS BUT WAS THERE FOR 7

on the other side of things i got all my work done and wrote half of the zolu chapter (5K so far) that im going to post soon

#for once living in new zealand is acceptable #but goddam that man was fine #i regret nothing #but i swear ive seen him on campus before #the joke that engineers are hot is no longer a joke #DID I MENTION THAT HE HAD A MOTORBIKE #IT WAS A BLACK KAWASAKI NINJA - MATTE BLACK #im crying dying and simping all at once #the zolu fic is coming along quite nicely too #though 2k of the chapter is just about zoro being lost #but its zoro #soooo #nz doesn't exist and i hope he doesnt see this #tumblr is basically dead in nz with people around my age #so it should be fine #he was so fine #the toji body really be giving
