So... White Night goes hard. Here's a music video dissection!

Way too much to say, I'm doing bullet points again. Comparing CN lines and EN translation of those lines (NOT THE ENGLISH LYRICS) here, but if they say basically the same thing, I won't bother mentioning any differences. I'll look at the English lyrics in another post. For the record, like fuck did I bother to learn what the different zones of Penacony are named.

The transition out of the Hoyoverse logo with Aventurine's hand? That was smooth. Holy shit. I've tried doing a transition like that for a school assignment, and that sort of thing goes hard.

The word branded on Aventurine's neck spells out "slave". That's... concerning. I guess he'd have history with crime (assuming he was a slave and that slavery is illegal under the IPC - but who knows about that last point?) and given Penacony's history, he might hold some more personal sentiments about being there.

Showing off his rings, his watch, his fit... dude is bling-bling-bling. Coin flip sound effect! Love the whistling too.

Those dance moves, synced to the beat of the music. The camera angles. Wooooow. The first time I watched this was breathtaking. I give a fuck about Aventurine now. That's so wild. I had go check if this was official, for a few seconds genuinely thought I was watched a fan-made MMD.

Out of all the luggage that gets knocked over, the blue, circular case stands out the most.

From "Don't forget, shut your eyes, embrace the light", the "embrace the light" part is "才算醒来" in CN (it's time to wake up). Do Misha and Gallagher have something to do with the dreams, besides the whole, Reviere Hotel thing?

Gallagher's lighter, and then the background change plus light turning off (plus sound effect!) when the lighter is closed? He's not the type of guy I'd really care about, but. That smile. Shit.

Sparkle followed by a bunch of koi fish out of water, skipping forward. She winks and sends us off with a koi fish transition.

It's fitting that the line here is "you act in this huge play, a change of attitude" (from CN line; 你参演 这场戏 变换姿态)... the EN line uses "postures interweave" to convey acting I suppose? Makes sense, she's a Masked Fool, acting would align.

Black Swan picking from one of ten cards... she eventually picks a card, revealing a white swan in the front. I wonder who that represents? I wanted to say one of the factions, but there are only nine we know of; the Family and the invited eight. Maybe an uninvited guest?

The CN line says "谜底 结局 我该 怎么猜" (The truth/mystery of the ending, how should I conjecture?), where 结局 can refer to the last act of a play. It's says the same as the EN line, this is just a more linguistic fun-fact.

For the last bit of that line, we see a hand with yellow claws, and at the center of the palm seems to be a red eye. New enemy?

Flrefly holding sparklers! She's smiling! It's a "prelude of dreams supplied by memories". This line definitely does not spark fear, because dreams are built on memories, and Firefly is definitely real. (I speculate that she isn't/only exists in dreams, but I sure hope not.)

Trailblazer tries to take a photo of her! It's synced so it sounds like you can hear the shutter go off, almost.

Transition to the Trailblazer running (in the form of a bunch of still Trailblazers gradually turning back/away from the camera) alongside a light in a very... uh. Absurd environment. Up a bunch of spiral stairs, and near the end of the sequence, seems to be chasing the light. Is the light meant to symbolize Firefly? Fuck me.

"Covered scars still linger yesterday" wherein the past remains, even when swept away... genuinely, what happened to Firefly.

Trailblazer in a room with a bunch of Clockies, standing on Clockie's shoe. We challenging the dream here? Is Clockie a representation of the Watchmaker? They might be holding a sparkler in their hand, hard to tell. They certainly don't look happy.

"Your wakefulness, time foresees" = time is waiting for you to wake up.

Blink, transition by zoom to a falling light, which turns out to be (probably!) Firefly. Throughout the descend, her eyes are closed. Sigh. I hope not. Based on the transition, it's definitely her, and I'm pretty sure she'll die, if she hasn't already died.

IS THAT AVENTURINE? Similar enough hair and outfit, but his chest opening is larger and glowing green. Wearing a mask too. Do we fight him? Is that who we fight with? Questions, questions.

Someone else noticed this first, but his earring looks like a dream catcher! They're protective charms, so Aventurine might be safe from the horrors of an eternal Penacony dream.

I want to point out: the instrumental here goes silent, before a sound that reminds me of a rewinding watch hand plays where Aventurine says "take me away". Interpret that how you will.

We get a view of Clockie and some background or whatever, into the spotlight on the Trailblazer presumably tossing their hat. On the left side, the Clockies are smiling! On the right side... not so much? Either way, they're coming down the steps, and one of them is about to jump the Trailblazer.

Also, ad of a pizza pie with slices of money(?). Or it might just be pepperoni and mushrooms or something. The pepperoni is numbered, so I'm assuming it has something to do with a game of sorts.

Zoom out to get a better look at Penacony. We can see the whales in the sky looming over sll the buildings, ads everywhere (cartoony-looking Times Square), and massive bubble gum machines roaming the streets. At the heart of the city is... I'm guessing that's the Stellaron? Whatever the blue light is.

Flashes of whales, some kind of circular thing, a fan(?), and a very hard to make out sequence of numbers. The last three digits are 183. I've edited the screenshot I took to try and make the numbers more clear. (You might have to open the image to see what I mean.)

The whales are very reminiscent of the abyssal whale from Genshin Impact. We know that Genshin and the Honkai games are all connected in the same multiverse, though seeing these whales after fighting the All-Devouring Narwhal is raising flags...

A slot machine, falling gems, monsters on the street, oh my.

The line here is "Cease the shattering, let withering subside" or more literally, "Don't break again, don't wither again" (别再破碎 别再枯萎). I guess this has to do with the dreams? Don't let dreams shatter and wither; they must be good dreams, and Penacony must stay a land of dreams.

Transitions into an angry Clockie, though the face flickers back to a smile. Camera flips back up to a whale!

The clock ticks, passage of time, all that... sheesh, that synced well.

A bunch of tiny whales and monsters headed in the same direction. Clockie in the streets too, next to a monster holding SoulGlad.

Wacky flash transition to whales. Then zoom out of a TV screen (Clockie's face?) to see the monsters broke into the hotel, I think? That's not good. I guess that's where they were heading!

"Indulge anew, in the self's meandering stride"... I'm going to guess this is a reference to the dreams, the winding detours they lead you on, trippy experiences, stuff like that.

The rest of the Astral Express gang now! These are their dreams, I guess. Dan Heng is in the Reverie, I think, with a bunch of whales and wacky lamps. Maybe he's investigating, or he escaped his dream?

Himeko floats, eyes closed, one arm reaching outward. She's surrounded by semi-circular tables and chairs floating. Seems like it could've been a banquet, had there been more people.

The line for both of them here was "Savor at last, the taste that's ever true", and might be referring to SoulGlad. It's the only big thing I expect we'd literally be tasting in Penacony.

A huge March 7th is taking a selfie. Typical March.

Welt is surrounded by some toppled buildings, holding the Star of Eden in his hand as he looks out at the city. Maybe he knows what's up here?

Black Swan seems to be picking from one of ten circulating cards again, this time floating above the city. There's something inside the cards though—seems like a catalyst weapon. She holds it instead of a card.

"In the dreams of that night, we'll meet anew"... the first part is said with March and Welt, and the last bit is with Black Swan. Have we met Black Swan before? Or maybe this is us meeting her again/a second time on Penacony. Or it could be about someone else...

A white void with black cubes surrounds Sam, who gains these green wings (propellers?) to fly out of the void space into a fight with Acheron. I doubt the Stellaron Hunters would go out of their way into a fight with her, and they've had a record of staying in line with Elio's scripts (case in point: Kafka on the Xianzhou Luofu, Sam's "You should really stop playing with your food" line). This fight didn't seem to happen by choice.

Acheron swings her sword at Sam. We don't know a lot about her, but we do know that she doesn't pull out her sword that easily. Her eye glows, and red petals appear, followed by a swing of red lightning. All the other strikes had purple lightning instead.

"The more deceptive, the more pristine", where Sam is deceptive and Acheron is pristine... these adjectives might apply to both characters, to be honest. The word used in place of pristine also means perfect/ideal (完美).

Not sure about Sam, but the fact Acheron doesn't pull out her sword often is easily grounds for underestimating her.

Sam doesn't dodge the red lightning; instead, he's trying to block it with his arms.

A huge explosion follows, either from the backlash of contact with the lightning, or it could be entirely unrelated. Annihilation Gang, is that you...?

The translation says "Dreams in slumber, despair's endless spin", though the exact term used where endless spin is was 轮回. It's more so used to mean reincarnation, or the cycle of life and death... so dreams and despair go hand in hand, in a cycle like sleeping and waking.

Sam is down on one knee with electricity flickering around his body. Did he lose? He's not completely down yet.

The Trailblazer jumps with a running start, with Belabog in the background.

"With each blink, a retreat in time's cruel cue" is... hard to decipher for me. Where are you going back from? I doubt we're going back in time, it's a little to early to be traveling alongside Terminus... If Firefly is dead and was a real person, then it could traveling back in time to save her.

The Trailblazer throws pure light??? In the black and white for a few frames, you can see Stelle/the Female Trailblazer.

I don't think there are any major implications from this. The way I see it, Stelle is Caelus and Caelus is Stelle, in that both of them are the Trailblazer, and there was only ever one Trailblazer like them in this story (the choice we made/Kafka picked at the beginning doesn't matter when the end result is the same).

A big Sampo and big trashcan duke it out with Belabog in the background. This should all be be the trailblazer's dream, since dreams are made from your memories, and using the trailblazer's memories would make sense to generate the scene within Belabog.

"In the dream of that night, we'll meet anew" should be pointing to the Trailblazer meeting Firefly again.

The Trailblazer is on a rooftop with Firefly. When the Trailblazer looks back, Firefly has disappeared...

Acheron in front of a black hole(?). She's crying?

We get a few frames of Sam that fade into a faint red light.

The video ends with Clockie and the Trailblazer dancing together! Clockie either gave us the hat or returns it to us.

Characters who we don't see in the video: Duke Inferno (or anymore from the Annihilation Gang, for that matter), any of the other Stellaron Hunters (did they ditch Sam, or did only Sam arrive at Penacony...), and Dr. Ratio (where did he go...). Genuinely, where is the doctor.

I think the song is overall from the Trailblazer's perspective, and about their relationship with Firefly, trying to save her. I'm 100% convinced something sinister happened, or will be happening, to her.

VIBE is very much giving me 80s groove mixes, stripped back. Only thing missing is a Kenny G saxophone solo.

My favourite parts/timestamps:

1:55 - I love how they stripped back the instrumentals in Jimin's chorus so we really **hear** him. God, his voice. It's almost acapella and I'm glad Teddy had the sense to not bury that magic under useless synths.

2:17 - What is it with Jimin and bridges? He understands the assignment. Every single time.

Because I was aware of my bias going into it, I gave this song a few more listens than I typically do before forming an opinion. And like I suspected, the only reason I like this song is because of Jimin.

Taeyang gave me nothing to work with I'm sorry. The D'Angelo aesthetic failed to land, the only person who brought sauce to this joint is Park Jimin. I think even Taeyang, Teddy and co recognize that too, because though it's Taeyang's song and technically a feature, it feels like Jimin's song with Taeyang featuring. (The lines split is also smart from a business POV because it will get ARMYs and Jimin solo stans to buy/stream it more). Jimin has writing credits [*] so I can only assume he wrote his verses because the difference between his verse and Taeyang's is like night and day, and in Jimin's verse, the lack of gendered pronouns is something I can't help but notice.

In terms of jikook/ML collabs so far, I actually prefer this to Left & Right and Dreamers, but I like Bad Decisions more. So I'm giving this song a solid 6.8/10. It's a decent track and the hook is fun to sing. And thankfully, the song is short enough.

Frankly, if this single was supposed to whet people's appetites for Taeyang's album, it does the opposite for me, but it does do that for me with Jimin with PJM1. I **need** to hear more Jimin.

Anon in Ask 4, Taeyang has said there's a live performance so it's possible we get to see Jimin perform it live with him. (Jimin is blonde right now, in case anyone forgot)

Anon in Ask 5, you might not have heard, but ARMYs have a running joke that the tannies collab with people unlikeable to the fandom. I think a collab between Blackpink and BTS/any of the members is certainly possible (everything is possible in Chapter 2), but it will be a character building exercise for everyone involved.

Mostly the lyrics about a hero, lucy herself has agreed that natsu is kinda like her hero in the RAVE x FT crossover little comic if you didn't know. I would said the sound kinda fits lucy its not too brooding but not too crazy and hyper and its a good middle ground that I think would suit her :)

i loveee this song and honestly a lot of dreamcatcher songs I imagine nalu scenarios in my head to them because theyre songs are sooo catchy and fast paced I can imagine the craziest things,, anyway the reason I chose this song was mostly the lyrics i mean things like

i cant explain it but this is definitely them theyre soulmates and the "maybe you dont but i love you" definitely suits lucy i specifically thought of the line in 100yq of her thinking natsu doesnt like her in that way but you know she loves him anyway and they'll be together forever in his words etc etc

again i cant really explain how this is them but if i had to i would say the way theyre really close and best friends and yet have fallen in love with eachother but are hurting eachother going in circles with their relationship and not confronting their fears about losing each other either quite literally or their relationship and it's gonna build up until it explodes lol

okay last part these lyrics really remind me of the ending in dragon cry when lucy tells natsu that even with the different conflicting parts of him she knows him and she knows that even with all of that hes still just natsu and its what he needed to hear and she just knew that so :)

Okay after the essay on the last one I wanted to do a song that has a more simple explanation,, so Billlie have amazing songs theyre one of my favourite kpop groups and if you haven't listened to their songs they bang so hard please listen <3 anyways the lyrics are all based around of course an enchanted night with lines like "The moon is freaky, the stars are dreamy" etc etc which of course suits lucy due to the stars and such but also the moon part made me think of the galuna island arc and of course the whole eclipse gate and such so yeah! another song based off of lyrics being very nalu i mean... playing with fire as a title is very nalu,, but also the lyrics are about going too far in love and getting hurt getting burnt etc etc which like you know that one scene in 100yq and like the whole slow burn thing they have,, its very fitting to me imo and also the sound suits lucy its again middle ground powerful but not too overwhelming to the point where its too powerful that it wouldnt suit lucy (not saying she isnt powerful she has her moments which is why i think a middle ground is good)

3. What loves do you tend to write about? Agape (unconditional, spiritual love), Eros (romantic, passionate love), Philia (affectionate, platonic love), Philautia (self-love), Storge (familial love), Pragma (enduring love like between long-married couples), Ludus (playful love, infatuation you feel during the “honeymoon period”), and Mania (obsessive love that leads to madness and jealousy)

Definitely Agape because I think it's so perfectly undefined?  I first heard the word in the song of the same name, Agape by Bear's Den (in a Dan x Blair yt edit to be specific) and I've felt attached to it since then. The "I don't wanna know who I am without you" sums it up pretty well.  It's important that it doesn't say "I don't know who I am without you" because you do know. You're you even without your soulmate. You exist for yourself. But it's your soulmate that makes your life better, iridescent as you put it in your poem (go read @the-girl-who-cried-wolf 's poems now).  That's what I wanted to show with Revelius and Dorothy in my scrapbooks wip. I also believe that Nova and Revelius are soulmates. Actually, all of my characters are Nova's soulmates. She's a light reflector, a wallflower. There are little pieces of all of them inside of her. The reason for that decision hides behind the fact that Nova is my oldest character. It all comes back to her. Everyone else is just one version of Nova that I had during a certain time period of my life. That's also why I think of Nova as the narrator of the story and that's why she doesn't seem to be in continuity. Back to Agape, all of my characters are closely intertwined with each other and are connected by agape. You do get more than one soulmate in your life. I also feel the need to specify how I personally view the concept of soulmates. I don't think it to be magical or otherworldly or anything like that. It's an extremely down to earth thing for me. I also think that soulmates aren't born, but made with time. The invisible string is there, but you have to cherish, dedicate time to understand and be careful with it. Otherwise your soulmate might never transform into your closest companion.

7. Favorite description in your wip? (If asked more than once, respond with a new piece each time)

Right now it's:

"Those are flowers, my brother paints them". He looks at her. She looks at him. This is when he is supposed to drop her hand. "It's like you have your own personal garden right there on your hands." It's not before he says it that it hits her just how much Lyerr actually talks about plants.

Partly because of the stars around scars aspect but also because of the last sentence. It happened to me a lot and I finally found a way to sneak it into my writing. That moment when you realise just how much there actually is to someone. How many things that you have never really given much thought. Here, I'm saying: there's an entire world trapped in everyone, you only have to be curious enough to see it.

22. How do you come up with character names? Do the names have a special meaning? If so, what are they?

I put much much thought into this. I'm going to describe each character name that I created:

Revelius - comes from the french word "un rêve" which translates to "a dream", Revelius is practically living on the edge of dreamland, he's never sure if things around him are actually happening or it's just him imagining them. this scares him.

Dorothy -  drawn from three things:

1. The song dorothea by TS (basically Rev's pov)

2. The song Dorothy by Her's (🎶Come on outside, I got a place we can hide/nobody knows, I just wanna feel alright🎶)

3. Dorothy from The Wizard of Oz, especially Judy Garland and the iconic "somewhere over the rainbow", that song always makes me cry and reminds me of my Dorothy (🎶somewhere over the rainbow/way up high/and the dreams that you dream of/once in a lullaby🎶)

All of this is implying that Dorothy is also a part of a different world and is walking between reality and fiction. The difference between her and Revelius is that she likes that. She feels like Revelius might be too good to be real and she's completely fine with him maybe being fictional.

Audrey - Audrey Hepburn, especially the Sabrina and Breakfast at Tiffany's vibes

Lyerr - this one's on the anon who put the ivy lyrics in my ask box, "lierre" means "ivy" in french, I just adjusted the letters a bit to make it more visually interesting, I'll explain the meaning once I post his chapter

Celestine - wait till her chapter, but the word translates to "heavenly"

Nova - it's always been Nova, it means: "a star showing a sudden large increase in brightness and then slowly returning to its original state over a few months" that bring me back to my Nova as a light reflector theory. basically, I created a special sorting system for scrapbooks, it consists of:

1. light reflectors

2. light summonurs

3. light collectors

4. light providers

Every character of mine belongs to each of these groups, all depending on perspective in question. For Dorothy, Revelius is a light provider and she is a light collector. For Revelius, it's the other way around.  But Nova is the ultimate light reflector, she evolves quickly ("returning to it's original state over a few months") but she consists of little bits and pieces of the people surrounding her. She's their reflection, in a way.

i’m leaving this blog

hi! this post is a bit long but at the end you’ll find prompts and requests that you are free to use if you’re a writing blog :).

hi there!! if you’re reading this, i hope you’re doing well and staying safe. i just wanted to say that i’m leaving this blog and i’m not sure if i’ll ever come back. the years i’ve spent being a harrie have been great and it’s been a crazy amount of time! pretty much since the x factor! however, for a long time it’s also felt like i’ve been forcing myself to be a fan of harry’s. i’ve put so much energy into being a fan of his that it hasn’t been fun for me in a while and neither has writing fanfiction, which is what this blog is mainly for. it’s felt very difficult to sit down and write a fantasy about somebody who i might not even like anymore and in hindsight it seems a little dumb, but i did stress over writing all the time. this isn’t really about anybody i’ve interacted with on tumblr because you’re all lovely but sometimes it feels as though harries don’t treat him like he’s a human being and instead like he’s a god. me, included. even though i know we joke about harry being the only man we’d let degrade us or destroy our lives or whatever, he is still a person at the end of the day! it took me a very long time to realize that and thinking of him as otherworldly or completely perfect was my way of thinking for a while and i think it was pretty damaging. the fact that so many people would literally die for him is sad because unfortunately, none of us are going to be on his “level”, so to speak. we don’t know him personally and chances are we aren’t ever going to. ahhhh please don’t be mad at me for saying this, it’s just something i’ve realized i need to change about myself and i think it’s something we should all consider about everyone we are fans of. 

anyway, the time and energy i’ve spent on something so ridiculous is exponential and i really feel like it’s time to put it in the past. i’m dedicating this year to self-growth and part of that is learning how to be my own person. feeling like i have to be interested in something or someone in order to be normal has been a common theme in my life and harry has been that someone for as long as i can remember. this isn’t his fault of course but i’m getting older and i don’t want to think of this time in my life as the era that i was obsessed with harry styles. instead, i want to form memories and real life experiences instead of using fanfiction as a way to cope with all of the things that i can’t handle in my life. it worked for a while but at this point i’ve been reading it and writing it for so long that it feels like i’m living inside my head, like i’ve become dependent on it (obviously this is very bad lolol). so, long story short, i will be leaving this blog because it just isn’t good for me anymore. thank you to everyone who has requested things for me to write and anyone who has interacted with my writing. sorry i couldn’t get through them :(. i’d also like to thank everyone i met through this blog because you’re all such amazing people and you deserve the world. i will leave my writing up but the sentiment still applies- i’ve worked very hard on everything i’ve written so please don’t repost any of it without crediting me, thank you.

i had a specific plot i wanted where harry was in a car wreck because of a vampire who ended up biting him in like an alleyway. reader saves him and is a vampire herself! she nurses him back to health n teaches him how to be a vamp with various shenanigans along the way

3. hospital au?

this one i’m not too sure about but if you’ve seen the red band society you’d sort of know the direction i was going with this. there’s kind of an in-between for people in the hospital who are fighting death or going into surgery and in that in-between is a boy who has been in a coma for a long time. i pictured this as being angsty and for harry to be the boy who guides people in certain directions but he ends up falling for the reader while she’s there

4. ghost au!

self explanatory but i pictured harry as the ghost who kind of just wants a friend lol

5. tea au?

this would probably be pretty short, i just thought it was cute! reader has different kinds of tea all the time and it’s a surprise each time he kisses her 

6. strawberry farm au?

reader has a strawberry farm LMAO maybe harry buys them from her or it’s another vampire au, who knows!

7. threesome

most likely has been done b4 but a threesome w 2 guys and the reader where the guy is inside harry while he is inside the reader

BNHA Rewatch: Episode 14 “That’s the Idea, Ochaco”

Oh my god you guys. I’m here. I’m so excited to be at the Sports Festival Arc. I freaking love this arc. And this whole season, really. BNHA S2 is possibly the best single Season of TV I’ve ever seen, the way the whole thing fits together...I love it on so many levels.

Cause whether they meant to or not, Bones managed to make this Season feel like it has a theme: Motivation. It opens with an exploration of Uraraka’s motivation, and closes with Shigaraki finding his. Throughout, it’s a season focused on characters figuring out what they want, why they want it, and how hard they have to try to get it. So I’ll be noticing this theme whenever it pops up this season. Anyway, onto Episode 14 (Season 2, Episode 1).

Holy crap this intro scene! This isn’t in the manga, but it’s so cool. I think Bones was eager to make sure fans got hyped going back into Season 2, and to fill up time (since S2E1 is based on only one chapter of the manga). 

PEACE SIGN!! OP2! The iconic OP of BNHA, my 2nd favorite after Odd Future. I hear this song, see this intro, and I know...I’m in for somethin’ good. It’s a fun, relaxing OP to watch, with lots of cool imagery. Though one particularly sticks in my mind...

Though more seriously, Bakugou is working out in the remains of Ground Beta. Still brooding over that loss to Deku, aren’t cha? 

Our actual opening is a bunch of Exposition. Which is a byproduct of the manga chapter, but does also help catch people up who apparently didn’t see or remember Season 1. (I’m going to complain a lot about this kind of stuff one season from now). I wish they’d stop calling Tomura a ‘man-child’ though. I do love how they hit on the “League of Villains=evil Class 1A” idea pretty quickly. That is one of BNHA’s unique features, actually, how its villains are learning to be villains just like the heroes learn to be heroes.

Back to Class 1-A! Tsuyu is showing particular concern over Aizawa again. She definitely is the one in the Class A to be the most consistently concerned for him.  Now we’re hyping up the Sports Festival. First time I watched this episode, I was firmly in the “who the eff cares about some sports fest” camp, feeling like this would just be some boring, light-hearted arc that I’d never get into. Oh how very, very wrong I was. 

And now I’m being reminded right off the bat that all my favorite ships sit next to each other in class, every day. First off Kamijirou, who do their usual routine of flirting-through-insults. 

Which was BKDK’s thing first. (Though he’s actually yelling at Mineta here. Go, Kacchan.) 

Todomomo too. This facilitates lots of conversations between them.

Tooru and Ojiro chilling too.

And Iidaraka getting pumped to round out the main set! (All that’s missing is Kirimina) Ochaco looking ready to go!

Speaking of our titular heroine...

I think we need to start a “Mineta gets pwnd” counter. Let’s see, smacked and drowned by Asui in the USJ arc, nearly dissolved by Tomura (dammit, Tomura, you had one job...), yelled at by Bakugou and smacked again by Tsuyu...that makes 5. Let’s keep it going.

Now for my big Iidaraka moment! OK first tho Uraraka’s motivation is so interesting. It gets discussed all the time, it’s such a unique reason for her to want to be a hero that could really only exist in the world of BNHA. Motivation is such a big thing this season, and Uraraka’s is one of the most relatable in the show. 

And from a shipping POV, while I do enjoy some Tsuchaco and Kacchako, it does seem like Iida and Deku are the only people she’s told about her backstory and motivation, the only two she’s confided in. So till she talks to someone else about her motive, her deeper secrets, these two seem like her best shipping options. And of the two of them, Iida’s the one who’s confided in her too (unlike Deku, you Kacchan-confiding weirdo) and he’s so supportive to her here, outdoing Deku in every way in that regard. (Look at the diff between them in this shot alone.) 

And OMG her backstory. It strikes a real chord with me. Not to get too personal, but I’ve been in this situation too. Just wanting to provide for/support my family, but realizing they wouldn’t want me to do it if it meant not having a life/dream of my own. It so consistently makes me tear up in all the scenes featuring her backstory. Even this cuteness, in this scene, makes me well up a bit.

And Iida does his Bravo! bit here. The bravo scene was very subdued in the manga, focused on Deku’s reaction; the anime expands on it, to give Iida some time to be dramatic (and even more shippable with our gravity-defying heroine).

These two beans are somehow so close and yet so far from figuring out Deku’s secret. Like, Tsuyu, Todoroki, and Bakugou are all onto him, the former two just from observations, but his two BFFs have no clue.  

Speaking of Todoroki, his Midoriya radar is tingling...This is the first time Todoroki seems to particularly notice Deku, though. Like, i’ve got nothing against people shipping them, but going on their canon relationship, Todoroki is the only one of Deku’s close friends who doesn’t take notice of him because of some big, dramatic, self-sacrifice-y thing he does (Kacchan=creek scene, Iida and Uraraka=Entrance Exam, Kirishima=Battle Trial Arc) but just because of his connection to All Might. Before that, nothing. So it seems like Todoroki initially only pays attention to Midoriya because of the All Might connection, not because of something particular in Deku. Not the best starting point as a relationship, though it works fine as rivals.  

And now to All Might and Deku’s conversation. I still can’t figure out exactly how Deku controlled OFA fighting Tomura back there. And he hasn’t revisited this since then, he’s just training up full cowl more. Some day I want to know exactly how this happened. 

“Tell the world YOU ARE HERE.” First time watching, I was Deku in this scene. Totally like “seriously, why are we putting so much hype into some dumb sports festival?’ Now, I keep thinking about that motif throughout the SF Arc, where everyone keeps calling Todoroki out for not trying his best or going all out...it’s all being setup, right here. 

So that’s the Season 2 premiere. It’s good. Better than S3′s filler/flashback extravaganza, though I do enjoy how fanservice-y that one is. This one is cute and low-key and announces what’s coming in the future. It’s got character, and the newly upped animation is visible right from the first frame of S2. But I won’t lie, I’m way more excited to get to what this episode is preparing for us. SPORTS FEST AHOY!

BKDK Corner:

Not much besides the OP symbolism. Though there is some setup for a great one next episode. Deku’s friends be all kinds of inspired and he can’t quite get up the same level...not without help from a certain guy who’s always fired up to win...

Paint You Wings ~ Ethan Dolan {Part Six}

Ethan’s POV

After what happened the day before, I was spiraling the drain of love even more helplessly. Averly was dynamic. She wasn't one of those people who have one interesting quality, then they're just like everyone you've ever met.

She focusing intensely on my face while she was painting. My hands were covering my mouth again, as requested, and my arms started to cramp a little bit.

Her tongue was sticking out of the side of her mouth and one eye was clamped shut. She added a few brush strokes, then stepped back.

"Okay, you can rest your arms a minute now." She sat her brush down and glanced from me to the painting. Without another word, she walked to the wooden table stained with random paint and grabbed a knife.

I was curious to say the least, but didn't want to break her concentration.

The next thing I knew, she stabbed the knife through the canvas and took it off the easel.

"Averly, what are you doing?"

She sighed and sat the knife down, then put the canvas in a big cardboard box. "The proportions were all wrong. There was no saving it." She wiped her hands on her shorts, then grabbed a new canvas. "I'm sorry, I probably should have told you that this is gonna take a while. Do you want me to just take a picture of you instead and go off of that? It wouldn't be that diff-"

"No! Averly, this is seriously so much fun. I mean, yeah, I've gotta sit here like a statue, but I get to talk to you which makes it okay." I stood up and walked over to her.

She looked at me and sighed. "Okay, okay, but you have to swear that if you stop enjoying modeling for me, you'll tell me." She pointed her index finger at me and raised one eyebrow.

I laughed and folded her finger down. "Swear."

She smiled, then sat back down in front of her easel and motioned for me to go back to my stool. I put my hands back over my mouth and looked up at her. She made a few pencil lines, then gasped and stood up. She started erasing what she'd drawn.

She sprung from her seat and walked over to me quickly. "Shut your eyes." Her hands grabbed the sides of my face and angled it towards the floor. "Perfect."

She ran back to her seat and started sketching again. A few seconds later, she turned on some music. I'd never heard any of the songs, but she knew every word to them all.

We took a few posing breaks where Averly mixed colors or washed off a brush. She was good at making sure I wasn't bored. There were hardly any silent moments.

"So what got you and Grayson into YouTube?" She asked after asking me to get back into my position.

I smiled as I remembered. "We've just always had a passion for entertaining people. We actually started on Vine and got kinda big, so then we figured that we could make more people laugh or smile if we switched to a bigger platform."

"You guys are honestly the sweetest guys I've met. I mean, you ask some people why they do stuff like that and they all say money or fame." She commented with a disgusted scoff.

I laughed quietly. "Yeah, Gray and I never really thought we'd get where we are now. It's kinda crazy."

She slapped her hands together a few times, then sighed. "I think we're done for today."

I opened my eyes, then stood up and stretched. She showed me the canvas and I was immediately awestruck. It looked just like me. The shading was perfect and even every eyelash was distinct and precise.

"Averly, this is. . . Oh my God." I didn't even have words. I was just amazed.

She laughed and put her brushes in a jar filled with water. "Thanks. Are you available for the next part tomorrow?" She asked while she put the canvas in a cabinet and started flipping the light switches off.

"Yeah, totally." I nodded my head and checked my phone. Grayson had texted me asking what Averly and I wanted to eat. "Gray wants to know what we want for dinner."

She grabbed her phone and keys then led me towards the door. "I don't-"

I groaned to interrupt her, but we kept walking. "Don't say you don't know or care. Just, what do you wanna eat?" I laughed and closed the door behind me.

"I legitimately don't care." She laughed and walked to the driver's seat of her car. "Whatever Gray wants to make."

We slid into the car, turned on the radio, then I texted Grayson back.

"Whatever Gray wants to make" sooo go nuts

Averly handed me her phone when we started driving. "Here, will you read this message to me?" She asked.

I nodded my head and slid the message over. She put her thumb out so I could unlock her phone, then her hand returned to its place on the steering wheel.

"It's from Ellie. She said, 'I know we fought the other day, and you're probably still mad at me, but don't come home because I want you to. Dad really really wants you to come back just for a few days even. Please please come home, we need you back here. I love you."

She mumbled something under her breath and shook her head. "Will you answer for me?"

"Yeah, what do you want to say?" I looked over at her and awaited her answer.

She sighed and clicked her tongue a few times. "Say, 'I love you too and I'm not mad, but I'm not coming home. I left for a reason.' I swear, it's not as sketchy as it sounds." She laughed quietly.

I smiled to the side and sent the message. I didn't want to know right then why Averly had been kicked out. She hadn't told me yet because she didn't want me to know yet. I was okay with that. I knew that if she wanted or needed me to know someday, I would.

We didn't say much more in the car, but when we got back to the parking lot of the apartments, I got an idea for a short video.

"Yo, Averly, when we get inside, we should freak Gray out and act like we pissed each other off." I smirked at my idea and leaned against my door.

She smiled and nodded her head. "Yeah, yeah! But why are we mad at each other? We have to have our stories completely straight." She pointed a finger at me and raised an eyebrow.

I thought about it for a minute. "Ooh, okay, I ripped one of your paintings and thought you overreacted!"

She beamed. "Yes! Okay, okay, come on!" She started to get out of the car, but I grabbed her hand and pulled her back in.

"We've gotta record this, so let's do our intro real fast." I got my phone out of my pocket and got on the camera. "Hey everyone, this is Averly, you might recognize her from our video with Jack and Aaron, might not, whatever. Okay, so we were just now at her art studio and Grayson didn't go, so we're gonna act like we're pissed off af each other and see what he does. Let's go!"

After that we hopped out of the car. I kept recording as we walking up the stairs, making sure Averly was in the frame. Before we got inside, we let all of our little laughs out. I walked in first and tried to close the door, but Averly stormed in after me.

"Ethan, this conversation isn't over!" She shouted and grabbed my shoulder to turn me around.

I rolled my eyes. "What else is there to say?"

Grayson popped his head out of the kitchen and looked back and forth at us.

Averly turned around for a second and scoffed. "Are you serious? That you're sorry! Or that you'll pay me back for my now-wasted supplies!"

I turned around and walked to the couch, then sat down and picked my phone out of my pocket. I laid down strategically so I could record Gray without him suspecting anything. "Yeah, I'm not gonna do that. It was an accident! Why should I pay?"

Grayson chose to speak up. "Guys, what's-"

Averly interrupted him and groaned in frustration and out her hands in her hair. "You're an asshole! Don't come to my apartment for anything. Ever." She turned around and started walking to the door.

I stood up and out my phone back in my pocket, then speed-walked over to her. "Av, wait. I'm sor-"

She slapped me. Right. Across. The. Face. Immediately, my hands flew up to hold the place where her hand hit me.

Then we started laughing. She grabbed me and pulled me into a hug, then rubbed my face. "I'm sorry. I got kinda passionate there." She laughed.

"What's going on?" Grayson narrowed his eyes and put his hands on his hips. Averly and I laughed again, then I pulled my phone out.

"You got played, boy!" I shouted and out the camera in his face.

He swatted it away and rolled his eyes. "I was scared that you burned our bridge with Averly." He laughed.

Averly shook her head and put her arm around my shoulder. I put mine around her waist and pulled her closer to me.

"Nope, were still buddy-pals." She laughed.

Grayson shook his head and called us idiots, then went back into the kitchen. Averly and I went and sat down on the couch. She put her legs on my lap and we both got on our phones. She got a phone call, but rolled her eyes and declined it.

"Was that your sister?" I asked and looked up at her.

She nodded her head. "Yeah, but I can't deal with her right now. I'm still smiling from the memory of slapping you." She laughed.

I smiled and shook my head. "You're legitimately different from every girl I've ever met. But in a good way."

She scooted closer to me and put her legs on the table, then leaned against my chest. "Of course I am. It's one of my charms."

And it was. She was absolutely amazing, and I knew then more than ever that I was helplessly falling for her.

But I’ve got a diff Bokuaka in mind (in the Even Heroes verse).

- Iwaoi soulmates (some angst) AU: there are bits and pieces of this written out, but I keep putting it off. May be completed one day, but eh.- Matsuhana POV of Song of CnF:  I actually discussed how this one would go down with @wataksampingan, but the likelihood of this being written is super-low.

- SanaYuki Chou wa Oto-inspired Dual-ID Imperial Dynasty-Warriors fic: Necessary mention; I’m probably never writing this, even though I 10000% intended to before I went dormant as a fanfic writer. And YET I STILL KNOW THE KEY MOMENTS OF HOW THIS WOULD HAVE TURNED OUT.19) when it comes to more complicated narratives, how do you keep track of outlines, characters, development, timeline, ect.? I leave notes at the bottom of my Google document! These can range from copy-pasted convo on Mesenger, single-word prompts, whole-excerpts, etc - when I get to those key points, I scroll down and move the notes upwards so I can read them while writing.
