God, he hated when there were kids involved. They'd huddled against their father's side, the smallest clutched in his arms as Bucky had driven them away from the only life they'd ever known. But their mother had put them in the firing line when she'd joined HYDRA, and now there were targets on their backs – leverage for her, if nothing else. So Bucky had gotten them out, given them a fresh start. But there had been nothing he could say to fix the terror in their eyes.

It was late, but he hadn't been surprised to see the lamps still on in the living room. He'd kicked off his boots, shrugged out of his jacket and slumped down next to Steve on the sofa, curling up against him. Something was playing on the TV, but he paid it no mind.

"Stevie," he breathed, wrapping his arms around Steve's shoulders, hiding his face against his neck. "Hold me for a bit?"

This has nothing to do with anything but I'm in the middle of a houseplant fixation and I'm having a lot of fun. I've always had indoor plants, sometimes more, sometimes less, but it's starting to feel like I might've finally figured out some of the more advanced stuff, like personalized substrate mixes, different pot types, fertilization, growth lights and humidity.

My plants are doing really well now! I've repotted a few, trimmed the ones that took damage during the winter (or got hit by a thrips infestation late last year) and propped the cuttings, and they're putting out roots! I've never tried propagating anything before, it's exciting times. I'm going to plant them soon, maybe later this week.

Every morning and every night I do a little routine plant tour, simultaneously marveling at them and endlessly worrying about whether they're happy and thriving or not. They're making so many big, shiny new leaves right now and it's driving me to the brink of tears.

Very stressful but also tremendously rewarding. Just felt like sharing, since I've been mostly inactive or focused on complaining about health woes lately.
