yesterday for April Fool’s my workplace had a short training article on recognizing computer-generated faces from real ones and one of the tricks mentioned was “count the teeth” and I just wanted to say that it’s both ironic and kind of horrifying how society has unwittingly cycled right back to IF YE MEET A MAN ON THE ROAD, COUNT HIS FINGERS LEST YE DEAL UNKNOWING WITH A FAE

Thank You, Jeeves! (1936) - The Better Version

This movie - the earliest extant Jeeves adaptation - is overwhelmingly terrible and you shouldn't watch it. However, despite being completely out-of-character, about 25% of it is honestly still kind of fun. So as a collaborative effort between myself and @beetle-goth, we are happy to present you with a supercut of all of the scenes in this movie that are entertaining, with nearly all the rampant racism and sexism cut out. Will it make the movie good? Maybe not! But at least it will be... better.

have a cool program for e2ee file transfer inspired by thinking about two wizards opening up wormholes to transfer tomes to each other

Get things from one computer to another, safely. This package provides a library and a command-line tool named wormhole, which makes it possible to get arbitrary-sized files and directories (or short pieces of text) from one computer to another. The two endpoints are identified by using identical “wormhole codes”: in general, the sending machine generates and displays the code, which must then be typed into the receiving machine. The codes are short and human-pronounceable, using a phonetically-distinct wordlist. The receiving side offers tab-completion on the codewords, so usually only a few characters must be typed. Wormhole codes are single-use and do not need to be memorized.

it also has some different clients including a gui version here (note; it's also a program you gotta use with command line but once it opens it'll have a window and you can just pin that to your taskbar to not have to run the command line to get it up and running)
