Something Sunday!
No one tagged me but I'm excited to show you some baubles I made yesterday so I'm kicking things off early.
I basically haven't touched the baubles at all since I showed you the Barbie one last week... They're just not a lot of fun to make. But I sat down yesterday, put Brooklyn 99 on (again) and did some work. So here they are:
I'm very pleased with the pride bauble, I just need to work on adapting some other pride flags now. There's only 2 weeks until the faire though so other flags might have to wait until next year, I just have too much left to do for this one!
Share some of your creative genius friends!

it's interesting how Kairi and storytelling have been linked since the beginning like
KH1:
and her one memory of living at Radiant Garden being her grandmother's story
KH2: her letter that helps Riku and Sora return
KH3: her diary keeping/letters to Sora
And with KH4 (and perhaps future games) focusing on worlds of Fiction...i wonder if our young writer/poet here might have a link to that somehow

The more I learn about judaism the more I wonder where tf christianity got all its bad shit. Why is divorce a sin in christianity when judaism has recognized the right to divorce for nearly a millennia and has codified religious laws for it. Why does christianity consider sex to be dirty (to the point where puritans considered it a sin to enjoy having sex with your own spouse) when in judaism it's considered holy and it's a literal mitzvah to have sex with your spouse on the sabbath. Why does christianity consider it a sign that you're faithless if you question your religion when in judaism that's considered an essential part to developing your faith. I'm probably stating the obvious here but I still can't get over the fact that there's no historical basis to any of this shit before christianity started, it's like christians just said "hey guys what if we took the torah and built a new religion around it but this time it was actively hostile to human life"

Thinking about Robin and Sunday's halos.
About how Robin's halo isn't a closed circle, but more like a branch forming a circular shape, where the start and stem don't touch. It's also uneven in shape and splits into three flowers, like it's allowed to grow freely, unobstructed. Something about Robin having left Penacony and having escaped the confines of her cage, being able to flourish. About her being able to let people in, and connect to them.
Meanwhile Sunday stayed behind to be the head of the Oak family and conform to the strict role that's expected of him, and his halo is a perfectly symmetrical shape that's practically fully closed off. It's sharp, almost more like a crown of thorns than a halo. And it almost doesn't have any openings to let anything, or anyone, in easily. It actively discourages getting close to it.
And then if you want to get sappy about, which I will - Sunday doesn't let anyone in, with that almost completely sealed, thorny halo of his... But there's an opening in Robin's halo, and so it can fit around Sunday's. Something about him always being able to find solace in her, because there's room for him in her (halo) heart always, by design.
Anyway I'm not normal about them.

Something Sunday Monday
Thanks so much for the tags @forabeatofadrum and @ileadacharmedlife sorry I'm late to the game, again 😬
I bloody hate Christmas but the rest of the world (exaggeration, much of the world does not celebrate Christmas) seems determined to force it on me so I'm working on something christmassy for the next craft faire:
I've been fiddling with these baubles and I think they're as good as they're going to get. I have done one in a more traditional red green and white Christmas colour way, but this brings me more joy and I thought people might be doing Barbie inspired Christmas decs this year, so here it is.
Yes I am wearing a giant fluffy oodie, that's basically the only good thing about winter. It's cosy.
I will tag people but you've probably already been tagged, so hello 👋

A Something Sunday thought: For a while, a lot of us thought this scene
was Kairi holding back from revealing her traumatic past (bc she does have trauma from Appnort grabbing her and putting her in the arc thingy). It is a common visual trope to crop out the eyes of a speaker to convey that they are hiding something, after all. However, it turns out she honestly didn't remember, according to Melody of Memory and what she said to Aqua in KH3.
Another eyes hidden trope is for a character to hide a strong emotion away from who they're speaking to like anger, fright, or what I think is going on...frustration and sadness
Ok frustration of forgetting your old home, yeah but why sadness? Well, remember the scene with Aqua I mentioned? Take a look at Kairi's expression
Yeah. Sadness :(
This is all to say....Man if they could have squeezed in Kairi exploring Radiant Garden (with Lea in there somewhere) in KH3! The angst opportunities!!! The reconnecting with the past!!!

Don't want to put this on the post itself for risk of derailing it, but that post the other day about Terry Pratchett's early work really stuck in my mind. OP had sent in an ask saying that they heard some of Pratchett's earlier works had problematic elements (not unusual for a male english writer in the 80s) and they weren't sure whether to go ahead with reading the work anyway.
What I really want to ask that person, or indeed all persons who are hesitating over whether or not to read problematic works or works by imperfect authors:
What are you worried about happening, if you read a work with problematic elements?
I'm worried that if I read this art, I will run across hateful images or words that will shock or upset me
I'm worried that I will spend money on a work of art that then financially supports a bad person, and that thought makes me uncomfortable or upset
I'm worried that I will read works of art written by a bad person, and comment or react on them, and other people will see what I am reading and will think less of me because of it, or will assume that I hold the same bad beliefs as the author
I'm worried that I will read works of art written by a bad person, and I will enjoy them, and the author will find out about my enjoyment and feel emboldened to do bad things because of it
I'm worried that I will read works of art written by a bad person, and their badness will contaminate my way of thinking and make me a worse person in turn
Because these are all different answers and some of them are more actionable than others
