Within a few minutes of Deviser, we have the main character whimpering in pain, being attacked by a dog, and then agonizing screams of pain. Great start.

Son and Dad are already giving me Arthur and John vibes. Just the way Dad guides Son around, pointing out stuff like John does with Arthur. Son starts off this series with his memories hazy, like Arthur. Heck, Son and Dad even sound like Arthur and John respectively.

So, was the beginning part just a dream? Or did that actually happen and Son has no memory of it? The dog seems fine for now. Although hearing people saying how brutal this podcast is, even more brutal than Malevolent, the dog probably isn't going to last long.

I don't like how ominous "It'll all be over soon" sounds. I don't trust Dad as far as I can throw him.

Why make a ship where there are no windows or no way to see outside? Son mentions he can't see the stars. I feel like that would make things worse, not better.

"It doesn't even feel like we're in space." That comment, plus the bit about the stars, are giving me Pandorum vibes (great sci-fi movie if you haven't seen it)

Oh Christ, those final few lines, what a goddamn cliffhanger. I'm hooked now.

In which the kaminoans make a simple clerical error and hand Prime the wrong clone; Jango spends months doting on and loving his son only for them to come to him and apologize: they confused his unaltered clone with CC-2224. They take his son his Kote the clone from his arms and settle another little bundle there and it pulls loose the thought he’d been so desperate to never think: they’re just babies. Children. If there wasn’t something intrinsically different between them, then Jango had condemned children to death.

Jango can feel a massive headache coming on as he clutches the clone the child his son and wonders where he took a wrong turn in his life.

Using Frankensetin as inspiration for rebuilding humanity, oh god, I hate the implications of what that means.

The sound effects in the background are so unnerving, especially the kids screaming as they were burned to death.

An AI that is attempting to rebuild humanity but doesn't really know the first thing about it due to the limited sources it has. Isn't that so much like current AI? It comes out feeling weird and off because it can't compute the complexities of how people are supposed to look and act and feel.

And Dad is trying to recreate humanity out of love I guess, but what makes any of the people who came before Son wrong? Why does he get to decide? He's playing God and that always leads to disaster.

I do think there’s, as nemali once said, the inherent tragedy of emilie. she should always be dead or dying.

but it would be really interesting to see the one singular universe where she lives.

kind of like the last living planet in a galaxy.

she would be as we know her: the performer, the mother, the lover, the liar. she would be a renowned actress, knowing fame intimately and how much people love her, but, but—

she doesn’t know the lengths the people she’s surrounded by would go to, just to have her back. she doesn’t know how tightly wound the thread of obsession is that she’s weaved.

if, somehow, maybe through the rabbit miraculous, she glimpsed these timelines, how could she sit at the same dinner table, knowing the worst parts of everyone? even worse than she thought?

how would it feel to know you were that wanted?

malevolent is so good. but another work of harlan's i see that isn't too talked about (but maybe i'm just not on that side)

DEVISER. OH. MY GOD. I LOVE DEVISER. if you haven't listened to deviser as a malevolent fan.. what are you doing? it's so in depth and such a well established story for just seven episodes. i love a good dystopian concept and deviser just scratches that itch incredibly. imo.. it's so much grittier and horrid than malevolent like? when i first started i was so like.. in shock? the audiowork is just.. UHRHRHHRHR in the best way possible. harlan is such a creative person and i love enjoying anything he puts out.

PLEASE, PLEASE GIVE DEVISER A LISTEN. seven episodes - 27 mins being the longest and 18 mins being the shortest. DEVISER I AM UR BIGGEST FAN

I have finished Deviser and I have to say I liked it, it was definitely very graphic at times so read the warnings first before you listen to it.

This is the second horror podcast I’ve listened to, the first one being The Magnus Archives which I haven’t finished yet (I’ve just finished season 2) and I’m really loving listening to them, I have a couple other horror podcast lined up for when I finish TMA but if anyone have any suggestions for other horror podcasts I’d love to hear them <3
