I think grow so g of the evertree decided 5 hours of play time was enough for me as it crashed twice in the last half hour while trying to finish requests and adopt creatures.

Hey, hi, hello! 馃憢 How do?
Starting off the day with a Sketchy Ramble, ramble ramble. 馃槄
So I got a new hyperfixation during that little hiatus, and now I'm gonna show it off now that the art blog is back online 馃ぉ
I think I need to put this one under the cut. 馃槄
I bought Grow: Song of the Evertree back in March, I've since played it from start to finish 5 times now, and recently failed to resist the urge to start again for the 6th time. I just like this game and all the different tree worlds you can create except for the Gross biomes, I hate those worlds. They're a good test for scopophobia/ommetaphobia turns out 馃槵.

Apparently I decided to play all of those rounds as Meds. So here's "Little Tayler" and a few friends that he made in Grow (well, the five on the right are very GOOD friends, I've romanced all of them, which is funny to me because Meds is aromantic! 馃槀 It's half the reason for 5 different playthroughs.) 馃グ
There's a photo mode too, so here's the dork in-game at the end of round 1 vs sometime through round 4:

I mis-read your summary and thought it said Rathma's creature and I was like oh, you're into Diablo too?!? Sweet!
Sadly, no, I do not know of most of the... top-down combat type games like that. My scene is simulators and sandboxes. Spore, Rune Factory (i see you in my like notifs, person with a wooly avatar), Song of the Evertree, modded Minecraft, petsites...
Rune Factory and Minecraft is the closest I get to combat games, most of the time. It's not that I don't LOVE fighting mechanics, I just need to be collecting stuff for a base or collecting creatures from it, lmao. Diablo and Darksouls and other things of that nature are waaay out of my orbit.

Playing Through My Unplayed Games Library, Part 10:
Grow: Song of the Evertree
Many platforms, pick your favorite from here
I have more to say about this one, because it is significantly larger & longer (my final playtime was about 40 hours) than any of the others I've written up these little reviews for yet!
This one has lovely vibes, very soft & pretty color palettes and a theme of restoration. There's town management but it was nice and simple, not too complicated for me to manage at all, and I liked progressing from locale to locale and customizing each village with different themes (This one's pink and pastel! That one's blue with icy crystalline trees!).
Running and jumping around in the world (that you gradually uncover more of as you drive the evil darkness back) is very satisfying, with lots of treasure chests, hidden caves, and little puzzles scattered around for you to find and solve. Even the platforming is fun - "Can I jump up to the top of that big mushroom, if I hop onto this tiny boulder that's slightly jutting out? ...I CAN!!"
The bulk of your playtime hours end up being dedicated to cultivating the islands you plant from World Seeds. I loved the different themes & biomes of the world seeds, which are things like Forest, Icy, Desert, Mushroom, and PRINCESS! Which is a sparkly pink pastel world, which was great. I collected the coolest trees & plants from that one.
The reason you spend a lot of time on the World Seed islands is because the main gameplay element is repetitively pulling weeds, clearing debris, planting new stuff, and watering them every day. If your favorite part of Harvest Moon or other farming sims is the actual cleaning up of your farmland - all of the chopping stumps and hitting rocks to make room - then you will LOVE this game.
In my case, I DO rather like peaceful, repetitive tasks like that, especially seeing how the world gradually grows to show your efforts as the days pass. Seeing interesting little discoveries pop up as the World islands expand is exciting - will there be a new cave with puzzles and treasure today, or perhaps a little gnome's house?
This game is excellent for playing while listening to some other entertainment, such as a podcast, audiobook, youtube video series, or TV show if it's something you only need to half-watch. I settled into a cozy routine of watching twitch streams while playing this game, which made it even more enjoyable for me, because now I will always associate this game with being all snuggly on the couch and watching streamers satisfyingly react some of my other favorite games. 馃寛
The other major game from this developer is called Yonder: Cloud Catcher Chronicles, and it seems from reviews and comparisons between their two games that Yonder is the "better" of them. Well, I liked Grow quite a lot, and if Yonder is even better then I am looking forward to checking that one out, too! 馃槉
Rating: 4 pastel crystal trees out of 5 馃尦馃尦馃尦馃尦 It comes just shy of a perfect score because if I didn't have other entertainment during the long hours of debris-clearing, I don't think I would be reflecting so fondly upon it. 馃槄

My Switch Lite video game backlog right now. Games I haven't beaten yet:
Hades (not in a hurry to beat it tbh)
Grow Song of The Evertree (also not in a hurry to beat)
Yugioh Legacy of The Duelist Link Evolution (not really beatable since there are over 500 duels)
Etrian Odyssey III remastered (been playing it on and off; it was ported mostly well to Switch and works great in handheld mode)
Tokyo Mirage Sessions Fe Encore- taking a break from this game, but I think I am most of the way through it; currently on the chapter 5 interlude
This Way Madness Lies- I think I'm close to beating this one but I'm not sure. This is an indie RPG about magical girls in a Shakespearean theater troupe and it's made me laugh a lot.
Scott Pilgrim video game- recently bought; have completed level 1 with all characters and will soon pick a character to beat the rest of the game with (might do Ramona first tbh)
.hack//gu last recode- this is 4 games in one and a recent buy. Currently playing through Vol. 1.

It's 3am and I had a thought for a crossover: Outer Wilds x Grow: Song of the Evertree (the way I saw it was Outer Wilds with the story of Grow)
I don't have the finer details down yet. Maybe people had actually found the Eye of the Universe, actually followed its song to the source and lived in prosperity for a time until the song shattered and gave way to... what's the Outer Wilds equivalent of the Withering? Either the Bramble or Ghost Matter, I'm leaning towards dark bramble, they both look the same. Maybe Ghost Matter doesn't exist in this AU (the sun exploding and the time loop doesn't exist here! 馃槄)
Maybe Hatchling stayed with the Eye to try and heal it, they made a "world seed" and as they tended to it reconnected with the Song of the Universe (Signal of the Eye?)?
That would mean something else made the Eye. Also apparently time and space does not exist because there's at least 7 different races of Younglings in Grow (Everkin, Pohko, Bistan, Veiled, Aerum, gnomes, pissed off gnomes, and also Bisha and Bosha), and at least 5 different races in Outer Wilds across 2 universes.
Basically a crossover of a game that I've played 200+ hours on and a game that I can't play without my laptop exploding (I am obsessed with both 馃ぉ)
Anyways, the 3am ramblings of someone who REALLY wants to sleep but can't until this is written down 馃槶
