#sonic frontiers final boss

i just finished sonic frontiers update 3 and,, oh my god.

this update is literally the sonic game i dreamed of when i was younger. constant character switching based on the story, all characters using all their powers, with all characters working together to defeat some huge threat, with a NEW SUPER FORM AT THE END OF THE FINAL BOSS???

like, seriously, this is the kinda thing id act out with my plushies in 2013.

seeing this update play out the way it did made me so happy. no doubt the best finale to any game ive ever played

I just found out that i fucking bugged out of the final boss fight. Like i swear to god, in The End fight, the only thing i has was the meter-hit-the-blue-area. I was just like “huh??? Thats it??” But then didnt mind it because sage fucking died so i was busy crying and then cheering that Eggman revived her.

But now i watched the final boss gameplay because it was still weird to me and theres a whole section where u do the hack pc thing??? But with titans??? And like how did i even manage to skip all that???

Okay it's been one week.. even if you havent finished the story or even gotten to play, at this point you probably have SOME sort of opinion on the thing. So:

No "it's complicated" option bc of COURSE it is 🙄. Take a tally, weight it however you like, and then use the tags to show your work :)

I finally finished Frontiers and the final boss was underwhelming to say the least. But like, in a good way!

Picture this: Sonic has just beaten The End. The Chaos Emeralds all go flying every which way like the Dragon Balls. Sonic and friends are cheering, and Eggman's like "ready to go home, Dear Daughter™?" Sage looks over towards Sonic and says "Not yet. There's one more thing I'd like to do."

An orchestral arrange of I'm With You starts playing as she floats over to the heroes. "Sonic. Now that you no longer have access to the Chaos Emeralds ... it is time for us to do battle." Knuckles is facepalming himself into next week, we talked about this Sonic, but Sonic's like "nah it's cool, she just needs to blow off steam, right?"

Cue final boss Sage. She's her father's daughter, after all! Of course she's gonna wanna test her mettle against Eggman's arch-nemesis! They square up, and have a boss fight which is just normal Sonic against normal Sage. The background music is the orchestral I'm With You just having fun.

She's fine, after you win! It was just a Cyberspace projection, damaging it doesn't actually harm her. But after fighting The End ... well, now you've got a new beginning, right? The beginning of Sage's place at Eggman's side.

This is my favorite boss introduction in a Sonic game, hands down.

I LOVE how even the title card glitches as The End takes control of Supreme, it's such a small detail but it adds to this "oh shit" type of moment, and the music ramps up just as you are given control back to fight this monstrosity.

The original The End title card wasn't really all that bad, but it was kinda funny to watch a close up to this world-ending entity that felt more like "lol purple moon bad", and the rest of the actual fight didn't help it much tbh.

Here the purple moon is still "lol I'm evil", and it has even less presence than before, but we get to see the nasty things it's doing to poor Supreme, and I have to admit I feel really bad for the titan, it's going through a lot in this fight, and it becomes a hollow husk possessed by the overwhelming power of The End (power that can kick Super Sonic 2 out of his charged Super form and harm him, I have to add).

Poor thing.
