These are all subject to change (of course). I just put voices to whoever I could match, so sorry if this list is a little all over (more characters could be added in the future!). bestie!! can you do some headcanons about minor red queen characters such as sonya, elane, heron, etc?
OOOH, YEAH!!
I'll try not to strech too far with these and I may or may not include Ptolemus because we see so much of him in the books, but he's not a pov character, so yeah.
.
.
Right off the bat, Rohr was a Queenstrial contestant that everyone questioned behind closed doors mainly because of her age.
Sonya met Evangeline through a meeting with Houses Samos and Iral. The girls barely got along, but could at least put up with each other enough to respect their statuses.
Olliver has won against Maven sparingly and lost to Cal more times than he cares to count. He does not take it personally.
Quick homophobia warning here, many members of House Iral were confused and didn't understand Robert's being a consort to the King, though they were sure to keep it all to themselves because he did give their house a good deal of power, being so close to the King.
Samson and Cal get into fights that end in draws. Where Cal fights using strategy, Samson uses mental brutality to either break his opponents or get them to injure themselves to the point he wins.
Ara Iral was quite close with Sonya and gave her some comfort after the Queenstrial.
Lucas was someone MANY of the Samos House members looked down on, but Evangeline and Ptolemus did silently grieve for him.
After the events of the series, Wren has helped Ptolemus and Evangeline through unlearning everything that was taught to them. Needless to say, it was WAY easier said than done.
Bree and Tramy do occasionally have nightmares about the Front, but it's something they've come to talk about with Cal as he's had those experiences.
Cal was the best man in Julian's wedding.
Gisa occasionally gets a phantom ache in her hand because of how long it had been broken.
The electrons, after the war, keep in touch and are close with one another.
Heron was admittedly nervous to have been chosen as Cal's bride because he would have probably won any and all duels in training. Still hurt when Evangeline was chosen, though.
Elane and Evangeline did get married, and Sonya attended.
Davidson did not have long to adjust to being a leader, but he did very well, if he does say so himself, thank you very much.
That's all I've really got, thanks for the ask!!!

Just re reading Red Queen and wtf Ara Iral deserved better than what she got. Like no, she was a queen and she did not deserve to die at all. Just saying that what happened to her was not fair for even a second.

2. Blue Blood
Steel Heart
Summary: Lada attends a luncheon with the other Queenstrial girls.
Notes: none.
The next day Lada woke up late, being met with her mothers’ disappointed face. The day wasn't starting off well. Lada pulls herself out of bed, being reminded that there was going to be a luncheon with the ladies of Queenstrial and their mothers. She couldn't be more disappointed.
Lada dressed slowly, a Red maid sitting in the corner of her room waiting to be called on. She hates these luncheons, even though she should be used to them by now. Ever since she turned sixteen she had been pushed and pulled to all sorts of noble meetings. It became so tiring, and that was five years ago. Her clothing today was a simple, white shirt with purple buttons; sleeveless, as always. Sleeveless dresses and shirts helped to accentuate the muscle in her arms, which she had always shown rather proudly. Her pants flow at the ankles, the color being a deep mauve. Her maid helped thread purple flowers in small braids scattered around neatly brushed black hair. With the addition of a simple necklace Lada was ready to head out.
Lada steps outside of her room, greeted with her mother, wearing her house color of pale blue. Lada always forgot that her mother was a shiver, never usually seeing her fight or use her abilities at all. But she guessed it wasn't useful for her to show off ever since she left the war. Her mother had been a spy before retiring when Miya was born. She never usually talked about her life before her children, and Lada never asked.
The two walk to the Glass Terrace, never speaking a word to each other. Lada learned early that her mother didn't talk much, but her father more than made up for it. However, since Lada had discussed going off to the war, her father had stopped talking about old war stories, and she began to regret her decision. She didn't have time to think about it now as she and her mother had finally reached their destination, and they shared a look of understanding before parting to speak with different crowds of people.
Lada didn't have many ‘friends’ present today, but when her eyes ventured to Mareena she felt a sliver of hope rise up inside of her. The girl had no concept of the people sitting with her today, maybe she was the friend Lada needed. She was a clean slate, having lived in a Red village her whole life. Lada felt herself moving faster than she meant to, and she unnaturally slows down her pace, not wanting to scare off the girl she had her sights so eagerly set on. Lada notices Mareena was dressed quite similarly. Perhaps that could be something to bond over.
“Lady Mareena,” Lada says firmly, slowly bowing, although the height difference made it quite hard to do so. One thing Lada had noticed about Mareena was that she was very short, and although she was used to looking down at people, this was quite different. Mareena bows as well, although hers was slightly more forced. She probably wasn't used to it.
“Im Lada of House Glazastov,” Lada says carefully, analyzing every bit of Mareenas facial expression she could. She wasn't very good at reading people, but she could see the girl in front of her racking her brain. For what, Lada couldn't be sure.
“I wanted to say hello. We've obviously never met before so I thought it was only right to do it now,” Lada says, hoping for some sort of response this time. “That is very kind,” Mareena says slowly, almost robotically, “did you also compete in Queenstrial?”
“Of course, although I didn't make as much of a show as you or Evangeline,” Lada chose her words carefully, not wanting to seem disappointed or upset in fear that Mareena would get the wrong idea. Although she was sure Mareena didn't start off with a great opinion of other Queenstrial girls, Lada having witnessed Sonya Iral and Elane Haven walk away not long before she came over.
Lada and Mareena spoke a bit longer before being called off to sit down by Queen Elara. Lada always had an awkward feeling about the Queen, although she didn't like to admit it while sitting so close to the woman. Lada reunites with her mother, the woman sitting to her right. Everyone enjoyed wonderful food and Evangeline's boring conversation. Lada was happy when the luncheon was over, and she left quickly with her mother at her side.

ooo idk if anyone's asked you this but what are your headcanons on the minor characters such as iris, sonya, elane, wren, tolly, heron, etc??
Iris is a lesbian. This isn't a headcanon, this is plain truth. Would've made an excellent queen for the Lakelands. But since she's not, she's a great advisor to her sis and even if it is completely self-serving, she pays attention to the people's worries and complaints. During her time in Norta, she was 100% dtf with Evangeline.
Sonya inherited all the beauty yet none of her granny's braincells. She's like Karen from Mean Girls except she's actually mean and petty. We forgive her bc she's nice to look at.
Tolly is whipped, but I already mentioned this the other day. He cuts his own hair and he's insanely good at it. But when it comes to shaving suddenly he "doesn't know" how to do it without cutting his face a million times, and he needs Wren to do it for him 🥺 preferably while straddling his lap.
Wren may be an excellent healer but she sucks at keeping plants alive. This frustrates her so much she keeps trying and buying them only to kill them. Tolly, Elane and Eve call her a serial plant killer. There's this one Pinstripe Calathea that she's obsessed with because it's the only plant in her house she did not unwittingly murder yet. It's her most prized possession. What she doesn't know is that Tolly has been keeping it alive behind her back, changing the soil, watering it, putting it to the sun or the shade— basically saving it from her for years.

How do you think the RQ characters will be in the Hunger Games?
You know what, I have nothing better to do, so I'm about to propose my very own version of a Hunger Games AU, where the Queenstrial is a mix between the Hunger Games and the Selection from the homonymous series (if you’ve never read it, do it, you won’ t regret it)
To Choose a Queen
Words: 1082
The village was unbearably crowded, and with the late summer heat it was the last thing one wanted, but it was an important event, which hadn’t occurred in more than twenty years, and participation was mandatory, so people had flocked to the square unwillingly, generating a smell of sweat so strong that Mare had to restrain herself from throwing up. In no time the space became nearly claustrophobic, after all, although the place was small, quite a few people lived in the Stilts, and Mare squeezed Gisa’s hand harder and pressed herself against Kilorn, her mother right behind them.
"I still remember when Queen Coriane won,” she murmured in her oldest daughter ear. The thing that Coriane Jacos had won was the throne and it happened through the Queenstrial, the event that for the following weeks would be broadcast live twenty-four hours a day for those who could afford a private television or in short evening summaries that everyone would be forced to watch, and it was very simple: when a prince came of age, every High House that had a female daughter between the age of twelve and eighteen, and everyone made sure to have one when such a possibility was at stake, had to “provide” her to the royal family, who would then send them in a large open-air arena, which could contain everything from a torrid desert to a frozen wasteland, to fight to the death. The last one still standing would win the throne. It was barbaric and disgusting, but Mare wouldn't have complained if the Silvers of the worst kind decided to sacrifice a few of theirs for the entertainment of the masses nor did it surprise her that those heartless beings decided to sacrifice their daughters for a chance to end up in the royal family. The woman her mother was talking about, from what little Mare had been able to understand from history books and gossips, hadn’t made a great impression at first and it didn't even seem that she had been prepared to participate, for how weak and frightened she looked, but when there was just a handful of opponents left she had used her singer ability on a girl, she didn’t remembered which House she was from, who in her place had exterminated the remaining participants, starting from what had been considered the favorite from the beginning, Elara Merandus, and then slaughtered herself. She had been ingenious and she had come out of that perverse game with her hands practically clean, which had earned her some sort of respect from the Reds as well, who she didn't seem to disdain like the rest of her race, but they were all futile thoughts, which left Mare's mind once the national coat of arms, accompanied by the hymn, appeared on the screen. First a general gave a quick update on the war with the Lakelands and a couple of other, even shorter announces were made by some ministers and then, finally, the king spoke: “Today we honor tradition, but before I announce the Queenstrial participants my royal wife would like to say a few words to them.”
The woman stood up, showing a beautiful yellow dress, perfectly matched with the jewels and the golden crown. She had a serene smile on her lips, as if she had forgotten the horrors she had been forced to witness, and joined her husband: “Enjoy your last night as normal girls, because tomorrow your life will change forever.”
Mare doubted that the High Houses’ daughters had ever had a normal life, but she didn't said it aloud, too busy looking at the first face that appeared on the screen. They must’ve taken the photos from the Blood Register. They updated them annually, and if even the Reds had to try to look their best during those shots, she couldn't even imagine what the Silvers were doing to look like gods.
“Clove Arven, silencer,” announced the king, and despite the forced applause, her name didn’t ring any bell in her, just like many others later. Clarissa Eagrie looked particularly pretty with her porcelain-skin but Kilorn said that the hottest so far was Camille Gliacon, even if he wasn't convinced she would go very far in the competition. After her, Elayna Greco, a strongarm, was introduced and after her Elane Haven, a shadow that was Gisa’s Silver copy, just with lighter complexion. By now Mare had grown accustomed to the king's almost monotonous voice, and after Sonya Iral she had missed at least a couple of names, if not more, when a banshee was presented. A rapid look and Mare knew she was a walking corpse: she wouldn’t have survived the Blood Bath, the first race to the Cornucopia, the giant golden horn-shaped cone filled with supplies and weapons around which the Queenstrial started, even if she had been allied with more than half of the participants. After her the name of Samantha Nolle, who looked like a real lady, was made, but Tiny Nornus looked like the biggest deal so far. When Tirana Osanos appeared on the screen, the prince smiled. Maybe he already knew her, maybe he wanted her to win. It was sad that he couldn’t choose his wife, but she understood the logic behind the madness.
“Kriss Provos, talkie,” said the king, and a girl that looked vaguely like a cat appeared on the screen. They were without a doubt all beautiful and dangerous girls, although Rohr Rhambos seemed more like a child, but Mare was getting tired of standing and looking at people who had no meaning for her. For a moment she thought that maybe she should’ve bet: she didn't approve when Kilorn did it during the Feasts and Evangeline Samos seemed pretty lethal but she immediately got the idea out of her head at the thought that she might’ve lose.
“Wren Skonos, skin healer.”
A very dark-skinned girl appeared on the screen. Her eyes were dark gray, bright and expressive, and she seemed kind but strong willed. Even if she would never admit it, Mare was a little sorry she was going to die. She was followed by Ashley Thany, a stoneskin, and Mareena Titanos, an oblivion. When the photo of the latter appeared on the screen, the blood froze in her veins. The face before her, the eyes that were watching her, were hers, and in a matter of seconds, everyone in the Stilts turned toward a nobody that had suddenly become somebody else.

Scene Short: Pointless
Someone requested Queenstrial from a different POV. I hate how Tumblr doesn’t save a copy of asks!! But I did write it down. And here is one...
The tags: @anyone-anything-canbetrayanyone, @lilyharvord, @runexandra, @spookysamos, @chelsthebookworm, @mareshmallow, @delilahronnelle, @red-queen-united
Evangeline Samos. Evangeline Samos. Evangeline Samos.
Her name sits on the tip of everyone’s tongue except mine and most of the other girls don’t say it either. But their mothers and aunts and who ever else they’ve packed into the preparation rooms certainly are using it in vain.
“Evangeline and her parents came two days early and ate lunch with the Queen,” one hushed gossip babbled to two others. They all feigned shock.
“That’s not fair! No one else got an audience with the Queen.”
“Oh, please, they picked her two years ago when we all came to Summerton for the August feast. Remember the tea set she pulled together for the Queen? Made it out of that old suite of armor and Elara was smitten. Well as smitten as a snake can be.” The triad laugh and suck in long breaths at the end, falling silent while they all thought of the next thing to say.
My mother rolls here eyes and continues to stitch blue ribbons into my braids. The woman may be stating the truth, but what bothers my mother is that they already know it. In fact, at least two of them had the same exact conversation just fifteen feet further down the hall an hour age. Why they bother pretending it’s something new to say is beyond me and well beyond my mother. She’s never been one for gossip to begin with and certainly not making it for gossip’s sake. And since we left Paracove, the ancestral home of the House of Iral, she’s been nothing but terse and to-the-point. We aren’t here because we want to be and if I were to bet, none of them are either. No one’s here because they think they actually have a chance at their daughter being picked for queen, well, except House Samos. We’re all here because a sentinel showed up carrying an official invitation to enter the contest and would only leave with our agreement.
I watched my father thumb the edges of the note card and scrape the corner through his beard for fifteen minutes, pacing in my Grand Mother’s parlor. The silent sentinel stood in the hallway just inside the door and waited. My father sighed, nodded his head at my grand mother, and then returned to mumble his regards to the King. Only then did the Sentinel carry our commitment back to the palace.
“Heaven help you, my girl,” he sighed, one hand on my cheek.
“Evangeline Samos will be picked.” My mother patted his arm, but her assurances fell short of bringing the doom off his face.
“I know that. I’m not worried about their pick for their first born. It’s that witch’s son I’m concerned about.”
That conjured shivers up my spine. Our house was barely cordial with the palace, but our armies and our intelligence capabilities are invaluable in a country deep in a perpetual war. My Aunt, everyone calls her the Panther, had been instrumental in gaining the only ground in the last fifty years. Her work as an agent, a spy, had given Norta the upper-hand and because of her, the boundary in the Choke advanced over a hundred yards. But something else had happened when King Tiberius took his new wife, Elara Merandus. Something about an uncle of mine disappearing off the battlefield and, according to the whispers I overheard when I was young, my grand mother believes he was interrogated and murdered by the kin of our Queen.
Around me, maids rush and mothers preen daughters with no possible claims. But at least they are a distraction from my mother’s fingers tugging on my tender roots. We’re all safe from actually competition with Evangeline Samos, but you wouldn’t know it from watching them scurry and burst into rages. Red maids and tailors dash out of the way, some not fast enough. I watch Wren Skonos heal one caught by a pair of scissors in her arm. At least one of these girls might be bearable for the festivities that follow selection. We’re all expected to remain at court for the entire month. I plan to find the library, or a cozy nook on the roof. Maybe an open window will serve me well in unlocking the fate of whoever will be stuck with the witch’s son, as my father put it. For myself, for my house, I’ll put on a show of our abilities, just enough to let them know we’re still skilled, still strong. But I don’t intend on doing anything spectacular or revealing. Someone else will have to light up the stage, I won’t be drawing the queen to our door. I have no intention on every becoming a princess.
Re-blog to spread the word. :)

SONYA IRAL has been her grandmother’s protégée since her skill was first proven, when she was able to slip past even her grandmother to get something she wanted (it happened one time and never again, but it was enough, and the proud gleam in ara’s eyes made sonya want to do it again). the panther turned the child into a panther cub, trained her in addition to the usual silver training. once it became clear EVANGELINE would be queen, the training only intensified. (almost) everything ara knew she told to her granddaughter, and soon sonya’s knowledge of elara’s doings solidified, to her own horror. whatever must be done to take her down would be done, no matter the cost.
sonya’s loyalty is to her grandmother and her family, first and foremost. secondarily, to her friends: evangeline and elane. after that, to the crown...though never to elara. that last loyalty depends entirely upon who sits on the throne.

Twelve
shes got a schedule now. for learning how to be a princess. also what is “protocol” supposed to mean?
theres something so extremely funny to me about mare calling her makeup “war paint” like some straight cis guy. such “im not like other girls” energy.
lucas and mares banter is so good. please become besties.
of course the women all eat together. of course this is mares torture.
Across from me, Evangeline laughs into her hand. “You’re still taking Protocol?”
shes is so obnoxious girl what are you five. shut up.
“You mean you aren’t” […] “Excellent.”
on the other hand mares response is an a++
queen elara mentions lunch will be with the other queenstrial girls. nice! maybe some of them wont be horrible stereotypical rivals/enemies.
mares anxiety when she realizes shell have to see these people again still: 📈
oh and then theyll go to the capital, archeon. that name is so cool.
mare is kind of a messy eater. lucas is a good not-friend and tells her.
lady bess blonos- her protocol tutor -is a blood healer, which means she can heal herself. there are also skin healers who can heal other people. shes there in case mare looses control.
lucas leaves her and she wanders towards the window where she see what appear to be people training with the help of a machine or something? oh nvm its cal and maven. using their sick fires to hit targets. nice.
evangeline, however, uses her sick metal darts to hit the targets.
lady blonos shows up and mare seems distraught about… something. is she really that ugly?
oh ok so its like an old lady using plastic surgery to look pretty. but wrong. aight.
lady blonos mentions her horrible posture and i can only think of that one tiktok about this person following another tiktoks advice to make your face look thinner that made them push their head forwrd too much- its so funny but i dont think ill be able to find it. anyway. bad posture. yeah.
mare is understandably upset about being called a savage, but even angrier because she knows shell need lady blonos’ help.
alright, soup time.
the glass terrace sound really pretty… columns that work like prisms? maybe theyre like… square shaped, to do that, right?
two girls from house iral and haven walk up to her as she enters.
ok so the iral girl- sonya -is dark skinned and dark haired (and cat like?) and haven girl- elane -is a pale red head and quiet. they sound cool ngl. but they are a little bitter over participating in queenstrial for mare to get the princess tittle by tripping.
sonya calls her grandma- lady ara -this old lady sounds awesome lemme tell ya. HER NICKNAME IS THE PANTHER??? THATS SO FUCKING COOL DUDE.
lady ara is good at poking at the holes in the story king tib and queen elara came up with. it helps that she makes mare incredibly nervous.
so the recap for lunch is that evangeline is very good at chatting for two people and the queenstrial girls are Cowards for not ganging on her.
mare is very aware of the iral women. they will come for her again.
hdjkfjgjf maven being described as friendly puppy is so adorable. mare. what are you doing mare. they were supposed to be the Enemy. be careful growing attatched to them.
mare comments about lady iral and maven seems on edge about it. i mean yeah. she was a fucking war spy i should hope they are worried. he tells mare hell tell queen elara to do something about it.
aight, she became aware of maven status again. dont let your guard down, you never know who will be a twist villain.
he offers to show her around but shes got lessons. so he leaves her with a gentle and warm hand grab. adorable.
“You know, we’d get there much faster if actually moved.”
“Shut up. Lucas”
see?? theyre already besties.
