Wizardmon

Wizardmon becomes a bit flustered by such a confession. He grips his staff harshly in his hands and stammers as he takes in the fact that they had just confessed their love to him and he just.... He doesn't know what to say! He fumbles over his words for a good minute before he shyly hides under his hat as he mutters that he feels the same way towards them, and he's glad they decided to confess first. Since he certainly was never going to be able to, not when he was as self-conscious as he was...

Sorcerymon

He's... well, he's flattered! Honestly, he didn't quite expect this coming from someone he grew such a friendship with. But he's not complaining about it at all! He is a bit speechless over it, since -- to him -- it practically came out of nowhere. Sorcerymon is more than glad to say he feels the same way towards them as well!

Reapmon

Reapmon has to take a moment to process what he had just been told. A confession? Of love? Towards him? He squinted as he thought for a moment and was assured that the feelings were true and not some sort of prank towards him - not that it would be a good idea to do such towards a Reapmon. He may not look as excited as he should have been, but rest assured that he does feel rather happy over it when it's true feelings for him.

Beelzemon

Both is pretty smug about their sudden love confession, but also has a feeling that maybe they're just trying to mess with him... he fronts with his smug ways, and slightly teases them about it, too. But after his teasing, he does slightly ask if they're actually serious about it, his softer side shining through as he looks... hopeful that it's an actual confession. When they confirm that it is, he smirks and goes right back to it as he picks them up in his arms. They're stuck with him now!

Working wicked hard to get Digimon where I want them in Cyber Sleuth. RN levelling up some Etemon so I can digivolve them into Platinum Numemon. And I’ve got my farms decked trying to get Tactician USBs for extra EXP grind (I need 7/9). Someday I’ll get Beelzemon. Someday.

Digimon & Magical Witches

Bandai V-Pet Crossovers Part 2 (see Part 1 here)

With Tamagotchi's original launch in 1996, then Digital Monsters in 1997, Bandai and Wiz released Magical Witches in 1998!

While Tamagotchi were based on eggs, and Digital Monsters on cages, the Magical Witches v-pet is shaped like a book, cover and all!

Just like the original lines of Tamagotchi and Digimon, Kenji Watanabe was also the designer for the Magical Witches. Besides going through different stages, the Witches were also divided into four different clans each representing a different magical element. Which tribe of Witches you would raise depends on the version of the v-pet you have.

The clans and their respective magic are as follows:

Eneruge, who specialize in fire magic, Earthlin, who specialize in Earth magic, Baluluna, who specialize in wind magic, and Aquary, who specialize in water magic.

As your Witch grows, it can study other elements of magic! They cannot learn their opposite element until Gen 4 (and master it by Gen 5). So a Eneruge Witch has to learn Earthlin and/or Baluluna magic before they can learn Aquary magic.

Unfortunately this franchise never took off, and no further lines were created past the original line up. The toys are now quite the rare find and any online listings are super expensive.

But part of the franchise lives on within the Digimon franchise!

The Land of Witchelny is now portrayed as another dimension, so to speak, another layer to the Digital World we know. According to offcial DigimonWeb profiles, the land is ruled by elders of each clan and three sages that lead a council governing the clans.

Witchelny is split into four blocks for each cardinal direction, each occupied by a clan, and in the center lies Mount Brocken. On the top of Mount Brocken, the clans have established a joint magic school. Those who master magic (advanced programming language) at said magic school, move on to travel to the Digital World we know.

Here is a list of Digimon, who have been confirmed to have come from Witchelny: Wizardmon /X (master of fire and earth magic), FlareWizardmon (master of fire magic), Sorcerymon (master of light and ice magic), Witchmon (master of wind and water magic), Mistymon (master of various magics, of which fire is its forte), MedievalGallantmon (a legendary hero, who protected Witchelny in ancient times) and Wisemon (born in a magic-less region of Witchelny).

Furthermore, Hexeblaumon is a Digimon that came to Witchelny from the Digital World, and mastered ice magic there.

On the Option Card, Absolute Blast, which features HexeBlaumon, you can also see the symbol of Aquary!

Comparing the original Magical Witches evolutionary charts to the what magic we know these Digimon to be proficient in, we can make some possible connections.

Wizardmon being a master of fire and earth magic, and Witchmon being a master of water and wind magic, these original Witches line up with their abilities.

However with official artwork, such as the one below, portaying fire and water magic as their respective specialties, I believe the top sprites would be more likely.

With Mistymon being proficient in all magic, only the "Soul" type of Witch applies, which is the same in all clans.

A Digimon that was transformed into a half-beast, half-man form when Chackmon's power was halved. It lacks Chackmon's military paraphernalia, but it can still be a very capable fighter whenever it needs to, hiding great speed and dexterity behind its childish exterior. However, it would rather play around in the snow with its friends. Its Special Move is throwing hard frozen snowballs directly to the opponent's face ("Flurry Fire").

Suggested pre-evolved forms: Hiyarimon, Tokomon, Nyaromon, Frimon

Digimon Frontier - Episode 13

Big drama time. The plot was really plotting this episode, which I appreciate. I'm impressed that they're not just lazily following a formula of introducing a new spirit each episode. It's more exciting when things are unpredictable.

Notes:

It's kinda late to be asking this, but why is Rika the narrator for this series in the dub? I like to imagine she's watching the show with us now that her show's ended lol.

I like how Cherubimon's goons all look like they were designed by a different artist. Mercurymon stands out to me. He kind of reminds me of a Salvador Dali painting or something.

It seems like every other food the kids have eaten this season has been gross. Guess they're being realistic lol. At least the soba looked delicious...

Some dub differences I noticed were they cut Deramon being strangled so the bad guys just kinda pointlessly appear at the restaurant and then leave. Also, instead of showing the digivolutions side by side they showed them separately. It must be an interesting job being an editor for a localized program.

Seraphimon's castle was aesthetic af. I was like "yaaaaasss" while taking screenshots lol

I've definitely seen Seraphimon in one of the video games before, can't remember which one though. His design is amazing. I don't think he was mentioned in D-Project, in that it was basically just Ophanimon vs. Cherubimon, so the lore has expanded.

When Sorcerymon was lore dumping the animation was really bad lol. They were basically just moving PNGs around. I liked how Bokomon was like "gee, this story sounds familiar" in the dub. It did feel weird that they felt the need to repeat it verbatim. They could have just told us the new part.

Kind of rolling my eyes at Sorcerymon's sacrifice. Just because Wizardmon sacrificed himself in Adventure its gotta happen again with Sorcerymon? Feels like Leomon's repeat deaths.

Again with the inconsistencies with death in this franchise. I think this is the first time in Frontier we've seen a digimon turn into a digiegg instead of just vanish. Also, Mercurymon took his data but he's still able to turn into an egg which sets this apart from Tamers (I know they're alternative universes, no need to explain that to me). The kids acted like they knew all about digieggs for some reason. I could have sworn we haven't seen one yet...maybe it's just obvious.

Only just realized that Ranamon is called that because rana means "frog." She's cute but why'd they have to make her boobs so pointy at the end? lol

It really bothered me that Takuya (Izumi in the dub) told Tomoki not to cry. Why not? If Izumi was crying would they have told her to stop? Just seems shitty to me. (Also though he was crying over a digimon he met two seconds ago which bothered me for a different reason lol)

Wait, why were they clinging to the sides of Trailmon instead of sitting inside him? I guess they were just in a hurry

i ranked the wizards

on combat ability, mental stability, and currently available content. why? cuz i was bored and those categories seemed fun/doable. top of list is most, bottom of list is least. i’m not trying to set some kind of fanon rules here, nor am i claiming to be an expert on what content exists out there. this is just my personal take. rank the wizards yourself if you want, however you want.

Wizardmon x

+ went back to school for a phd in ass-kicking (fire magic)

+ Has evolved beyond the need for wands/staves

+ ‘Quantum’ magic

+ Can freely traverse dimensions at will

+ X evolution means inherently stronger than base version

Flame wizardmon

+ Double the wands, double the power

+ Armor evolution means inherently stronger than base version

+ Courage based armor evolution means intense aggression, less cautious

- hasn’t been shown to have any healing/defensive abilities

+ Out of the 3 animations he’s been in, only died in the one where he was just a background character (tho he was defeated in the other two, he lived)

Wizardmon (classic)

- Basic wizardmon, nothing fancy

+ Has two masters degrees (fire being best at attack, and earth being best at defense)

+ Has been shown to have greater power than the average champion/adult digimon

+ Has been shown with ultimate/perfect level wards/shields and cure/healing spells

- Died after 1-3 episodes of the anime but cheated death in two mangas

Sorcerymon

- Just a wizardmon recolor

- Died in his debut episode without doing much

- Focuses on water and healing spells, no notable offensive or defensive abilities

- Really just a support guy/healer, not a fighter

=Mental Stability=

Wizardmon (classic)

+ Shown to be very pragmatic, even in dire circumstances, and highly resistant towards torture and emotional goading/baiting

+ Has been through some pretty crazy shit (traveling through multiple dimensions, being reformatted, and dying) but maintains a cheerful, calm demeanor without being unrealistically optimistic

+ Loyal, determined, but also flexible and adaptable

Sorcerymon

+ Similar personality to basic wizardmon due to just being a recolor

+ Water element lends itself to calmness and gentleness

- Alas the above is at odds with digimon’s natural tendency towards violence, and he kinda cracked under the pressure when the person he devoted himself to died

- If you’ve ever been healer/support in a multiplayer game, you know this guy’s a little crazy

Wizardmon x

+ Technically very similar to basic wizardmon, just with an x antibody, but

- In all TWO of his official images, he is grinning maniacally, very unlike his base form

- What kind of sane wizard would go hand-to-hand instead of using a safety stopgap like a wand or staff (yes i’m looking at you, witchmon, we all know you crazy)

Flame wizardmon

- Genuinely just enjoys violence and screaming

- Is just casually on fire pretty much all the time

- Dual-wielding wands is pretty crazy imo

- In one of his anime debuts he was stealing people’s hutzpah, in the other he worked for a literal clown

Okay, genuine doubt.

if I remember correctly, both Wizardmon and Sorcerymon are canonically capable of flight, but FlameWizardmon is not.

Has there ever been a time when Wizardmon and Sorcerymon were flying for some random moment and FlameWizardmon just climbed something to avoid being left out? Or demanded they return to the ground?

i wish i could fly too but, I'm afraid of heights...
