Russian women's folk attire of Kursk province
Tumblr media
The Kursk woman's outfit is the most beautiful to me. The headdress is a kokoshnik decorated with real or artificial flowers, married women have their head covered completely, as in other provinces of the Russian Empire. Black sarafan - sayan, made of stiff, woolen, prickly fabric, embroidered with ornaments and ribbons. Shirt - sorochka or rubakha, either of homespun cloth with embroidery, or a kiseyn blouse. And a balalaika :)

Mavka
Tumblr media
Day 5 of Annie Week on Twitter: Mythology In Ukrainian mythology, the mavka is a forest spirit, close to a mermaid, in the form of a beautiful naked girl or girls dressed in a long white shirt with green hair and pale skin, plant crown with plants as a fern (also magical plant in Ukr mythology). According to folk beliefs, the souls of drowned women turn into mavka. They also live not only in the forest but close to rivers, lakes, etc. The tales of mavka are popular in the West of Ukraine, Carpathians, Podilla, and Galicia regions. Each region of Ukraine has a unique embroidery style and the embroidery is used in traditional clothes in Ukraine. Patters are used primarily on the shirts and we call it "vyshyvanka"/"vyshyta sorochka" which is literally translated as "embroidery shirt". The pattern I used here is a mix of patterns from Galicia region. Each shirt is like a separate work of art.

Also, which folk costume does Gosia wear?
Gosia is from a mountain village near Kielce but lives in Warsaw, she would likely be wearing a more modern (as in early 20th century modern) town costume for everyday wear but in the one drawing I did of her she was wearing clothes I referenced off an old photograph from Świętokrzyskie. And I imagine for parts of the story where she's in Ukraine Oksana would just give her a Ukrainian sorochka to wear. She's a regular model what can I say

What about the dressing of newlyweds on the Ukrainian Wedding?
The dressing of newlyweds on a Ukrainian wedding is typically a grand affair that involves traditional clothing and customs. In Ukrainian culture, the wedding day is considered one of the most important days in a person's life, and the dressing of the bride and groom is a significant part of the celebration.
The bride typically wears a traditional embroidered dress called a vyshyvanka, which is adorned with intricate patterns and designs. The dress may also include a headdress called a vinok, which is made from flowers and symbolizes the bride's purity and beauty.
The groom usually wears a traditional embroidered shirt called a sorochka, which is paired with dress pants and a vest. He may also wear a special hat called a kolpak or a ceremonial sword as a symbol of his status as the groom.
During the wedding ceremony, the bride and groom may also participate in a custom known as the Rushnyk ceremony. This involves holding a special embroidered cloth called a rushnyk while they exchange their vows, symbolizing their unity and commitment to each other.
Overall, the dressing of newlyweds on a Ukrainian wedding is a beautiful and meaningful tradition that honors the culture and customs of the country. The intricate embroidery and traditional clothing add to the beauty and elegance of the celebration, and serve as a reminder of the importance of family, love, and tradition.
In Ukrainian culture, wedding rings hold great significance and are an important symbol of love and commitment. The ukrainian wedding rings are typically made of gold and are exchanged during the wedding ceremony, often accompanied by a prayer or blessing. In some Ukrainian traditions, the wedding rings are also blessed by a priest before the ceremony. The rings are worn on the right hand during the engagement period and then switched to the left hand after the wedding ceremony. The design of the rings may vary, but they are often simple and elegant, representing the purity and strength of the couple's love for each other.

Some people think that white lingerie is for brides only. I don't agree! Look at this cuteness, I'd wear this one every day 😍 Electra Chemise https://corsetshop.ru/queen-size/sorochka-electra-chemise-obsessive-4.html Некоторые думают, что белое белье предназначено только для невест. Я категорически не согласна! Взгляните на эту милоту, я бы носила её каждый день!
