The first chapter of roots., a Naruto fic centering on found family and recovery from trauma, has been posted!

Summary:

Harimoto Hitomi struggles to find meaning and stability in her life, not only as a civilian trying to avoid being caught in the crossfire of shinobi, but also as a woman tortured by the ghosts of her past. The first place she’s able to put down roots is mired by trouble of its own. She won’t let the world or her trauma take her kindness, though. Every lost child who stumbles across her path is one she can protect from an otherwise terrible fate. If nothing else, she can give them a family. Sound 5 and other Sound shinobi centric, adopted kids/found family, canon divergent, a middle-aged civilian lady keeps finding traumatized ninja kids and bringing them to live in her weird Land of Waves homestead, and maybe they can all find some kind of healing together

So, we all know that in the epilogue, Gale tells Tav:

I love you.

And if you look at the datamined dialog files and read the dev notes, you’ll see this:

Devnote: With the warmth of having said this a thousand times before.

So, taking that statement as a FACT (which, you know, I’m certain it was intended to be…) we now have a solid numerical value to start with: 1000.

Next, we know that per the narrator at the epilogue start, it’s been 6 months since the defeat of the netherbrain; therefore it’s been 6 months since Gale and Tav got engaged/agreed to live together. We’re going to conclude that they have spent every day together since then.

6 months = 182.5 days

Now, assuming that Gale says ‘I love you’ to Tav on a relatively similar schedule each day (ex: when they first wake up, when Gale heads out to Blackstaff Academy, etc. etc.) we can make an equation:

1000 declarations of love divided by 182.5 days = the amount of times Gale tells Tav he loves them every single day.

We solve the equation and get 5.47945205

We round that down, and voila! We now have flawless mathematical proof that

Gale says ‘I love you’ to Tav an average of 5 times every single day

Digitizing the age charts for the Sound 5 from my RP with my sister.

Kidomaru's up first because he's my favourite (plus he and Kimimaro are the only two actually sketched). The charts aren't super long; basically just them at around 7-ish, how we see them in canon (so 14 for Sakon/Ukon, Jirobo, Tayuya, and Kidomaru, and 15 for Kimimaro), and then how they look in my RP with my sister (around 25-ish).

I mostly wanted to make this post to stipulate that they look so different as adults (25-ish) because they have been revived by Alexander, the Eldritch Being of Family, and are no longer human.

They have been turned into Nukai, which is the species Alexander created using the Immortal Soul (the "human" soul as it's often referred to, despite being the soul that many other creatures also utilise) as a base. Alexander despises humans, so he, obviously, was not going to revive them as what they were before they died (human). Granted, they are basically nothing but an experiment, but I digress.

They still look like them, but they have Birthstones (literally just their soul solidified and embedded into their flesh), and their bodies no longer function the way a human's would. Even the weird humans from the Naruto universe.

This won't be clear from the age chart; pretty well only their height and their clothes change, but I did still want to stipulate this, because I will probably digitize their Nukai forms eventually, and they are very different, but are based on their Curse Mark forms (So Kidomaru is a Drider, Tayuya is a Satyr, and Kimimaro is a Drake; wingless dragon).
