Had an extended thought about DDLC SBURB-ways that I really wanted to get out there before it runs out of my mind; plus, I could use a second opinion.
Monika begins the story clawing together fragments of SBURB.exe code from various sources, desperate to boot up a session in the hopes it'll free her from her own game - transporting her and the others out of DDLC itself and into The Medium instead.
All she's read about the game for sure is it's intended for the birth of universes, and the prospect of a new world she's in full control of sounds very enticing.
To her [and everyone else's] surprise, the attempt works and all four girls are transported into SBURB; and Monika is very confident in things running smoothly!
...This is not how they run at all.
See, through Monika's previous meddling with codes & character files, she's made one hell of a grievous error.
She's manipulated the characters of Sayori & Yuri so deeply that she's changed the fundamental core of who they are.
In layman's terms, she's artificially altered their Classpects - bringing secondary traits to the forefront, and turning primary traits to tertiary.
And since Monika's manipulation specifically targets her friends' negative attributes, worsening their own mental health? These changes are not good ones.
Monika, here, is a Witch of Light. She's manipulating not just the parameters of her role, now, but the narrative itself. She's artificially transformed the very truth of her friends' characters.
Natsuki, immune to her manipulation through the latent powers of her Aspect; and a few quirks in the code itself, is a Knight of Rage; now saddled with the responsibility of maintaining skepticism.
Sayori, initially pegged as a Sylph of Blood, has been turned into a Page of Doom instead; now threatening to atrophy the components of the game itself the more she sinks into fatalistic depression.
And Yuri, intended as a Seer of Heart, is now a Mage of Time with a destructive obsession with death & entropy; five seconds away from turning on her co-players and ending the session in blood.
So, their session's about five seconds away from going down the shitter; and Monika is forced to consult Natsuki for help - she's the only one without any notable alterations to personality thanks to the abilities given to her by the Rage Aspect.
Predictably, she is really not too happy with Monika once she comes clean, but agrees to work with her to fix this mess for the greater good; after having her own private episode of dread given her newfound knowledge of her game's [un]reality.
Lands are still in very heavy beta phase, but a few ideas:
Monika's could be a verdant, grassy world representing the kind of picturesque future she's always dreamed of - and also a little stealth reference to bliss.png.
Sayori's would be covered in perpetual torrential rain, a little nod to her 'raincloud' metaphor for her depression, with a quest that would involve clearing the skies.
Yuri's I have a very clear inspiration for - The Garden of Forking Paths from ULTRAKILL. A land of pristine, soulless marble; a blank canvas just begging to be painted red with blood.
Natsuki's Land, I see as a frozen wasteland turning her culinary intrigue against her; an Antarctic wilderness with frosting instead of frost; a cold dessert over desert.
So, of course, I am fairly unsure whether or not I cooked something here or whether I burned the kitchen down.

May 9th, 2025: The Great Roll Debacle and Steak Shenanigans at Texas Roadhouse
Alright, internet fam, pull up a virtual chair and let me spin you a yarn about the culinary chaos that was my Friday night pilgrimage to the land of peanuts and endless rolls – Texas Roadhouse. Yes, your favorite 28-year-old African American nerd David (that's me, currently smelling faintly of cinnamon butter) embarked on a gastronomic adventure with my sister Imani and my best buddy Jim, and let me tell you, it was a journey filled with laughter, near-misses, and enough carbs to fuel a small rocket.
The day itself was a classic Friday. You know the drill: the anticipation of the weekend hanging in the air like the scent of freshly brewed coffee, the internal debate about whether to tackle that looming to-do list or just embrace the sweet embrace of procrastination (spoiler alert: procrastination usually wins). I spent most of the afternoon locked in a fierce battle with a particularly stubborn piece of code, a digital wrestling match that left me feeling about as graceful as a baby giraffe on roller skates.
Finally, freedom arrived in the form of Imani's text: "Roadhouse in an hour. Don't be late, I'm craving those dang rolls." Imani's cravings are not to be trifled with. It's like a superpower, fueled by an insatiable desire for warm, yeasty goodness. Jim, ever the enthusiastic co-conspirator in any food-related endeavor, chimed in with a string of steak emojis. My stomach rumbled in agreement.
We arrived at Texas Roadhouse to the usual delightful pandemonium. The line dancing waiters, the buckets of peanuts practically begging to be cracked open, the general air of celebratory indulgence – it's an experience, to say the least. We snagged a table (after a brief but intense staring contest with a family eyeing the same booth) and the roll-delivery commenced almost immediately.
Ah, the rolls. Those warm, pillowy clouds of deliciousness slathered in that addictive cinnamon butter. It's a dangerous game. You tell yourself you'll only have one. Then you blink, and suddenly you've constructed a small roll fort on your plate. Tonight was no exception. Imani, Jim, and I dove in with the ferocity of wolves who hadn't seen bread in a week.
This is where the "great roll debacle" comes in. I, in my enthusiastic consumption, attempted a particularly ambitious maneuver: dipping a roll into the butter mid-conversation with Imani, while simultaneously trying to catch a peanut Jim had tossed in my direction. It was a triple threat of potential disaster. Predictably, the roll slipped. It wasn't a graceful fall. It was more of a slow-motion plop, landing squarely in my water glass, instantly transforming it into a murky bread-water concoction.
Imani and Jim erupted in laughter. The waiter, who had just arrived with our drinks, gave me a look that clearly said, "Sir, are you alright? Do you need adult supervision?" I just shrugged, fished out the soggy roll (which, surprisingly, still tasted pretty good), and requested a new water. Dignity? What's dignity when there are warm rolls involved?
The steaks, when they arrived, were magnificent. Imani went for her usual perfectly cooked sirloin, Jim tackled a massive ribeye like it had personally insulted his ancestors, and I savored a juicy filet mignon. The conversation flowed, punctuated by the satisfying sounds of chewing and the occasional burst of laughter. Jim regaled us with a tale of his latest attempt to build a self-folding laundry contraption (which, predictably, ended with more clothes on the floor than folded). Imani shared some hilarious anecdotes from her work, involving a particularly dramatic office plant.
Even the line dancing waiters, usually a source of mild amusement, seemed extra energetic tonight. One of them nearly took out a nearby table with a particularly enthusiastic spin, adding another layer of comedic chaos to the evening.
By the time we waddled out of Texas Roadhouse, our stomachs were full, our faces were sore from laughing, and my shirt had a faint butter-related stain. It wasn't a night of high drama or profound revelations, but it was a perfect Friday night spent with two of my favorite people, indulging in good food and even better company.
So, here's to friendship, family, and the eternal allure of warm rolls. Just maybe next time, I'll keep my bread products a safe distance from my beverages.

This cookbook (link below) is a joint project between museums in Austria and Czechia to collect recipes from 1750 to 1918 (my great-grandparents left in 1912—a part of the Slavic diaspora that was getting out before WWI) that were going back and forth across the borders as Czech and Moravian domestic workers went back and forth—introducing Czech folk recipes into Austria and Austrian recipes back home to southern Bohemia and Znojmo (my great-grandparent’s region of southern Moravia).
This is the first half of the summer section. I should have posted it before Pentecost but I forgot.
Everything is doubled because it was published in both Czech and German.

You have told us how to court your average gallifreyan but how would one go about courting a Gallifreyan member of the Faction Paradox? Like are they in to freaky shadow stuff because I can not move my shadow like that? Like what major differences are their in courting a member of Faction Paradox compared to your average run of the mill Gallifreyan or Renegade?
And is it technically possible to court a Celestis or is that to messed up?
How should you court a member of Faction Paradox/a Celesti?
Courting a Faction Paradox member is very much NOT recommended by the Institute, however, here are some pointers you may find helpful:
🧠 Continue to be intellectually stimulating: Faction Paradox members are no different to normal Gallifreyans, at least when it comes to you remaining intriguing enough for them. Discussing the intricacies of time loops over dinner might score you points, and so might proposing a toast to the entropy of the universe.
🍽️ Pick the right meal: Forget the spaghetti bolognese; think of dishes that defy physics or even just culinary decency. Maybe go for a meal that exists in a state of quantum uncertainty or a dessert that tastes like regret, if you can find such a thing.
✔️ Embrace mind games: Members of the Faction Paradox love a bit of an enigma. A potential partner who can maintain an aura of mystery is likely to be very intriguing to them. A sudden, nonsensical act or something like an outburst of Woody Woodpecker laughter signals that you're not just another predictable human.
🗣️ Give what you get: They'll probably test you with some snappy comments and insults, cos they love a bit of bants. Give back what you get like some kind of interstellar rap battle.
🫨 Embrace the rituals ... and the chaos: The Faction love a good ritual. You might not be able to move your shadow in eldritch ways, but participation in or even just an appreciation of these can go a long way in impressing them.
👏 Laud their achievements (but not too much): Faction members like to hear how good they are. But not too much, because there's a fine line between providing compliments and just being a sycophant.
🔥 Show hatred for Gallifreyan traditions and customs: They really don't like them, so you shouldn't either. Down with Rassilon!
😍 Physical and telepathic boldness: Unlike typical Gallifreyans, Faction members might be more open to physical and telepathic intimacy, though this could vary, as some may just find it all primitive.
🌟 Courting a Celesti
The Celesti inhabit a realm of existence that transcends conventional physical and temporal boundaries, making the concept of "courting" as we understand it a challenging idea. It'd be a bit like trying to date a cloud.
If you do manage to get into a relationship with a Celesti, don't think in any way you'd be able to control or influence it. Sorry, but you're not driving that ride.
🏫 So ...
Once again, despite all of this, remember that every person is unique, with their personality traits, interests, and views. Tailor your approach based on the individual you're courting.

Support Families in Northern Gaza through Rooftop & Home Vegetable Gardens
"My name is Laila El-Haddad. I'm an author and advocate for Palestinian rights and food justice. Many of you might know me as the co-author of The Gaza Kitchen: A Palestinian Culinary Journey. I'm also an avid gardener and though I am from Gaza City, I'm a farmer at heart! Farmers represent the deep rootedness Palestinians have to the land. For Palestinians, farming, especially during a time of genocide and ecocide-is an act of deep faith and the very embodiment of Sumood- the Palestinian concept of steadfast perseverance.
Background
Once known for its lush apple orchards, strawberries, and citrus, northern Gaza is now completely cut off from the rest of Gaza.
As part of its policy to make Gaza unlivable, Israel has destroyed 50% of Gaza's trees and farmland, and severely restricted the entry of food and aid, especially to the north. The scale of damage and destruction is catastrophic. Israeli forces have leveled agricultural land, 90% of all greenhouses, olive groves, and poultry farms. The entire population is now facing a forced starvation policy and experiencing extreme hunger.
Your Donation Will Help Change This Reality by Providing Rooftop, Home, and Urban Vegetable Gardens through seedling and seed distribution for Vulnerable and Displaced Families in Northern Gaza who are subsisting on 245 calories a day.
What and Why?
I'm organizing this campaign to help support farmers and families in the areas of northern Gaza most impacted by Israel's ongoing war to start their own rooftop and home gardens-a small step towards self sufficiency and food sovereignty. All international and local aid agencies have had to evacuate from the north, leaving the population especially vulnerable, and whatever limited amounts of fresh produce and aid are available are sold astronomical prices.
How?
I spent months researching and consulting with agricultural experts in Gaza and abroad on the most secure and effective way to give Palestinians sustainable access to fresh produce. Next, I partnered with with the Gaza Palestinian American Association and the Middle East Children's Alliance, both accredited 501(c)(3) who are taking 0% overhead, as well as a team of community based partners in Gaza, who will be sourcing the supplies needed to start the home gardens locally and managing the project.
Our team on the ground has been working hard to source and start growing local seedlings to distribute to families, and other materials needed to provide them with the resources they desperately need to start their own home, rooftop, patio, and community vegetable gardens, depending on the spaces they have access to. We will roll out the project in several phases, which each phase targeting 100 families.
Each family will receive:
* At least 30 assorted seasonal vegetables seedlings (Palestinian summer squash, hot peppers, eggplant, cucumber and tomatoes, depending on availability)
* 80 grams of local seeds (dill, mulukhiya, chard),
* Compost, soil, and amendments
* Plastic planters, irrigation cans, where needed
* Training and follow up by agriculture experts
Your donations will also help fund the purchase of several solar panel systems to power community wells that communities rely on to drink and irrigate their gardens and farms with (currently, municipal access to water is limited to once every ten days, and well motors are inoperable due to an Israeli ban on the entry of fuel).
With your support, we can help Palestinian families sow the seeds of a brighter future, cultivate hope and grow some of their own food again!
Your donation is tax deductible and zakat eligible! 100% of the proceeds will go towards the project in Gaza!
Together, we will help families in the north grow healthy food for themselves, their neighbors and their friends!

“Coconut Milk” The Heart of Thai Cuisine 🌴🥥🇹🇭
When you think of fruit in Thailand, the image of the coconut inevitably comes to mind, conjuring visions of palm trees swaying in the breeze.🌴
It's only natural to think of the coconut as one of Thailand's signature fruits, alongside the durian. In Thai culinary tradition, coconut milk, known locally as "Ka-Ti," is not merely an ingredient but a fundamental element ✨.
🥥 Its rich, creamy texture with slight notes of melted butter, profoundly influences the flavor dynamics of Thai cuisine. This indispensable component lends dishes a distinctive character that is both versatile and integral to the regional variations across the country.
.
[ Why is Coconut Milk important to Thai food ? ]
1. Creamy Texture
Coconut milk is celebrated for its ability to impart a lush, creamy consistency to Thai dishes. This texture is crucial, especially in main dishes such as curries.
In Thai desserts, it provides a silky mouthfeel that elevates simple ingredients into comforting sweets.
2. Flavor Balance
Coconut milk softens the intensity of chili peppers while enhancing other flavors. Furthermore, coconut milk enables a more nuanced flavor profile, allowing other ingredients such as lemongrass, galangal, and kaffir lime leaves to surface and be appreciated in the palate.
3. Creativity in Regional Cooking
Coconut milk is a versatile ingredient used in both savory and sweet dishes. Each region of Thailand utilizes coconut milk in uniquely expressive ways.
.
[ 🇹🇭 A Taste of Thailand: Coconut Milk Featuring Four Regions 🍽️ ]
📍Central Regions
In Central Thailand, coconut milk is used liberally to create smooth, rich textures in both savory and sweet dishes. This region emphasizes a balanced flavor profile, where the creaminess of coconut milk complements the heat of chilies and the tang of citrus and tamarind.
🍲 Highlight maindish : Tom Kha Gai (Sour and Sour Soup), Gaeng Kiew Wan (Green Curry)
🍨 Highlight dessert : Khanom Tuay (Thai Coconut Custard Dessert)
.
📍 Southern Regions
Southern Thailand's cuisine utilizes coconut milk to tame the intense spiciness of its dishes and to complement the abundant seafood.
🍲 Highlight maindish : Golek Chicken (Grilled Spicy Chicken), Gaeng Pu Bai Cha Plu (Crab Meat Soup with Wild Betel Leaf)
🍨 Highlight dessert : Khanom Co (Rice Flour Dumplings in Sweet Coconut Cream)
.
📍 Northern Regions
For the traditional cuisine of Northern Thailand, it is characterized by a distinctly unique taste, and the ingredients must come from natural sources.
For example, Northern Thai cuisine generally avoids adding sugar, instead relying on the natural sweetness of the ingredients used in cooking. One of the ingredients that adds a rich flavor is coconut milk.
Coconut milk is an ingredient that not only enhances the richness of the dish but also ensures that the flavor of the main ingredients remains prominent.
🍲 Highlight maindish : Khao Soi (Thai Curry Noodle Soup), Gaeng Yuak Gluay (Banana Stalk Curry)
🍨 Highlight dessert : Khanom Sila-On (Pandan Coconut Sweet Pudding)
.
📍 Northeast (Isan) Regions
Isan cuisine is primarily known for its bold flavors, emphasizing the use of herbs and strong seasonings such as chili, lime, and fermented fish sauce. These ingredients are combined in a variety of ways to enhance the intense flavors of the dishes. Due to this preference for robust tastes, coconut milk, which is milder and adds a creamy texture, is not very popular in Isan cooking.
🍲 Highlight maindish : Mee Ka-Ti Isan (Noodle with Coconut Curry)
🍨 Highlight dessert : Khanom Mok Ma Prao (Thai Coconut Rice Dumpling)
.
💡 Did you know ?
Not only the coconut milk. but also other coconut products, including oil, and desiccated coconut, are typically featured in Thai cuisine.
For example, coconut oil is widely used for frying and in desserts, while desiccated coconut is often sprinkled over sweets and sometimes savory dishes, adding texture and flavor. These products showcase the versatility of the coconut in Thai culinary practices, reflecting its deep-rooted significance in the country's food culture. 🥥🌴🇹🇭

pi04, what kinds of food and/or drink do you like to make the most? is there anything you'd recommend personally? ^w^
I'm rather fond of making tea; I've actually perfected the patented 'name tea' recipe that many addisons now choose to sell! That aside, most of my favourite recipes to make are meals the other staff enjoy.
You should see 105's face whenever I bring him food. It always makes my evening.
