Week 1: My boyfriend got this new supplement for me to try. I'm just here on a track scholarship, but he's taking organic chemistry, so he probably knows what he's talking about. He says it would really help my 500 time if I can strengthen my legs.

Week 3: My legs are definitely stronger, but so is everything else. I gained 40 pounds already, up from 147... I've been fighting these hunger cravings, but I can't help indulging sometimes. It's like the stuff is soaking up my fat. I might have to up calories soon, though. These injections take so much out of me, I barely have the energy to run. Half an hour of light weightlifting with my boyfriend is all I can manage

Week 6: I caved. I couldn't help it any more, I was just so hungry. Boyfriend says it's normal, and that if I stay the course and finish the regiment I'll be able to run again. He says if I don't, my metabolism will spike and I'll lose everything, but he looked away when he said that. At least he's helping keep me satiated. 246 pounds this morning, but who knows how much is food

Week 10: 318 pounds… My boyfriend must have been dead wrong when he sweet talked me into trying this. Or else he knew and just didn't tell me... I bought a shirt yesterday: 4XL. I didn't want to buy a second because I don't know when I'll need to replace it. At this rate I’ll be in 5XL by next week. Will I ever run again? Will I ever stop growing? I don't know if I care. All I think about is food. I ache so bad after each meal, but it only goes away when I lift. It's like an orgasm hits me whenever I hit failure and I have to grind a rep back down safe. And then I'm hungry again. Only two weeks left. I don't know what's going to happen to me.

Fuck it. My body's already ruined, I'm gonna GORGE. Let's see what gives first: my appetite or my skin

Week 14: I think it finally stopped. Only three pounds gained last week, bringing me to 416. The gut is receding fast as we taper down the calories, though, so I might still be growing a lot more than I realize. Running? I can barely walk anymore.

My boyfriend says he can afford another 12-week cycle. Now we just have to decide who gets it.

"Discovery by SpectrumShift"

The journey was coming to a close. It wouldn't take long and he would be the newest citizen of the small lunar colony. Over the past few days, as they were slowly approaching their destination, he was able to feel the increasing influence of the moon tugging within him. After disregarding the first minor changes that appeared a few days ago and the panic that followed the unmistakable ones, things settled down and he came to terms with his hidden condition. By now, it was an irresistible force propelling the change. He looked down at his hands and noted that only the claws and a few patches of fur were still missing. After a long while he slowly glanced up again, looking serenely out of the large observation window, thinking about the new destiny he discovered.

Season 2, Episode 3: Tooth and Claw

My Episode Summary:

Rose and the Doctor travel to, you guessed it: EARTH!  This time, they are trying to go to the 1970s and wind up in Victorian era Scotland.  The sorcerers of Qarth take over a Scottish castle, and loose a werewolf, whose goal is to bite Queen Victoria.  Doctor Who and Rose help, maybe? I watched this episode a long time ago, and while it was decent, I'm not going to check on the accuracy of my memory at all. 

Band Name of the Episode:

Today's winner is "Timorous Beastie" (runner up: "The Empire of the Wolf").  I imagine it is either some sort of knockoff Radiohead type band, or maybe like a cross between zydecko and heavy metal.

Notes/Questions/Gripes:

Obviously, I can't fault the episode for this, but it was poor foresight to cast the guy who would later become iconic as the sorcerer of Qarth, especially if you also cast a host of similar looking dudes, because that was the whole schtick of the Qarth dude (that and murder).

However, Qarth dude can bring the ruckus!

Early note I took in this episode: "So much for retiring platypus rankings."  I am pretty sure this was about orange bald scottish martial art monks.

Everyone is scared of something in a cage. Later, in the episode it will be clear that at present the cage just contains a single person, who does not, right now, look at all scary.

Ok, Rose is putting on overalls (or maybe like, a mashup of overalls and a skirt?), to dress period for this visit to the 1970s. Which is weird, because they literally never bother to dress for their destination otherwise.

The main method of fixing the TARDIS is to beat it with things. Pretty sure I could be a TARDIS repair person, since I am capable of hitting things with other things.

The Scottish mounties are all "stop or we'll shoot", and then they accuse Rose of being naked. 

Rose tries, and fails, to pull of a Scottish accent.  The Doctor, on the other hand, is masterful at it.

Psychic paper: still absurd.

The Queen's first reaction to meeting some weird strangers is, "They should ride with me".  And, as we later discover, she has had several recent attempts on her life.  Maybe she needs better security procedures?

Rose, on the other hand, can't figure out why a member of the royalty would have any reason to be worried about threats on their life.

"Timorous Beastie" is a great nickname for Rose.

Here is a note I took: Rose bets the Doctor 10 quid she can get the queen to say "We are not amused." I bet 100 quid she is awful at being subtle about this.

Victoria is really really bad at taking a hint. The guy who owns "Torchwood Estate" (ugh) is heavily hinting that she should not stay there, but she is all, "what-evs, I heart werewolves to the max".

Rose's first attempt: not at all subtle. And the queen is not buying it!

So, this is when we find out that the cage contains: a guy, who looks a lot like other guys, and not at all "Gasp-of-horror"-worthy.

One of the 10th doctor's main character traits is an inability to know when he is being rude.  Did the regeneration eliminate the part of his memory that included his previous knowledge of when he was being rude?

Rose's second attempt: also not subtle, and, shitty, on top of that.

From my notes, "conversation goes something something wolf, qarth guy interrupts, in a way that would certainly raise all sorts of suspicions."

Rose's third attempt: for reals not subtle.

It's a full moon, so the dude in the cage is a werewolf, or, more likely, a space werewolf (called it!).

Rose takes a really long time to not change into new clothes. Pretty sure she winds up wearing the overalls for the whole episode.

Someone is chilling out in Rose's second armoire.  Flora, I think.

Rose promises to keep Flora safe. And then Flora is immediately captured.  Good on you, Rose!  Rose is captured too, though, so maybe that is her punishment for lying.

At dinner, Victoria is failing to be amused by some things, but Rose isn't there, so she can't make a fourth unsubtle attempt of it. Poor Rose!

However, we do learn that stern Victoria is also a zany New-Ager.

She wants to believe in werewolves because, and I swear this is the reason she gives: she is sad that she can't communicate with the dead.

The legend of the werewolf in the area actually sounds suspiciously like the legend of just some actual wolves.

Rose is an idiot, because, when she sees that there is a dude in the cage that has everyone scared, she is all, "Parley?"

She assumes he is an alien, which fair enough.

The kind of alien that possesses people.

And…turns them into a werewolf?  I guess?

The Wolf's master plan is to possess queen victoria? Or have wolf-bite offspring that possess victoria? Hard to say.  

Regardless, it is probably safe to call him a bad wolf?

Additional alien superpower: to be a few episodes late on the thematically relevant finale arc.

No one is bothered by the Qarth monk chanting in latin. I suspect this is because everyone is an idiot.

The queen's guard decides to get involved (finally).

But, Protip: if you have a gun, do not step into karate chop distance of the wolf-cultists.

The doctor jumps into action and locks a door. A door that the wolf can probably just break pretty easily.

Queen Victoria is smart enough to shoot her gun at the Qarth monk.  Maybe she should be her own bodyguard?

He seems to think he is immune to gunshots? But, I feel like he didn't come back later in the episode, so he must have been wrong about that.

The wolf guy breaks out of the cage on his own.  Why keep him in a cage if he can break out of that cage? why not just, you know, let the harmless human form walk around cage-free?

The show's implementation of "wolf-vision" is just ridiculous.

He can't break through wood? Provided the wood has been laced with Rosemary?  First off: I have a pretty good suggestion for how to construct a cage for the wolf, next time.  Secondly: What?

Rose's fourth attempt was SO BAD.

Mistletoe, not rosemary. Whatever. still doesn't make any sense.

The Doctor erroneously claims that some random books are the best weapons in the world.  Does he not remember captain Jack's sonic blaster?  Or, like, pointy sticks?

Fortunately, Victoria has the most important glass paperweight in the universe.

So, the wolf busted in through a skylight and fell down into their library room.  They rushed out, and left the rosemary peppered door to the room open. But the wolf couldn't get through that door before, so why didn't they just close the door behind them?

Turns out the dad of the guy who runs this place built a moonbeam cannon, that everyone thought was a broken telescope.

And it seems like the queen got bitten? But everyone is just like, "I guess that explains the rumors about the royal family, LOL" instead of "oh shit, a hostile alien controls the monarchy".

The queen finally says a thing about not being amused.

BUT: she does not use the royal "we", so who cares?

Victoria is pretty much harsh as hell towards the folks who saved her life.  She literally knights and banishes them simultaneously.

PS: this means that Doctor Who and Rose are lawbreakers in all previous episodes that take place in the UK, since I will bet no one rescinded that edict of banishment.

Does any of the show torch wood take place in the victorian era? I'd get behind a sort of steam-punk mystery investigation show where everyone is ostensibly trying to prepare to fight the Doctor, but since the Doctor never tries to threaten anyone they just do like, x-files Monster-of-the-week stuff.

The Many Uses of the Sonic Screwdriver:

Top Gripe:

If the central mission of the Torchwood Institute (which has existed since queen Victoria's day) is to combat the Doctor, why didn't anyone think of him as a hostile bad guy, or express concern about him when he was hanging around during an alien invasion in season one?  Like, there was a torch wood institute then, right?  It must be, since there was one in Christmas Invasion, which also predates (from the Doctor's time-line) this trip to queen Victoria. So it must have been there all along.

I know, I know, searching for continuity in Doctor Who is like looking for some type of thing in a place where you are especially unlikely to find it [apologies, I didn't have the patience to come up with an analogy, so it is left as an exercise for the reader].

Most Painful Dialogue:

You'd call it a werewolf, but technically it's a more of a lupine wavelength haemovariform.

Just...no.

Cheesiness Rating:

Bonchester, because Scotland.  The episode wasn't too cheesy, to be honest.

Inscrutability Rating:

I guess by the end things were reasonably scrutable.  So, maybe it gets like, one rosemary infused platypus.

“Anything Nice”

I was amused.  I mean, yeah, it was goofy and didn't worry too much about making sense, and if you think about it too hard, you'll just hurt yourself, but it was a fun episode, the humor worked reasonably well, and we're at a point where everyone behaving like an idiot is just another way of saying "the show provides consistent characterization of its protagonists".  So, yay!

It has been actual MONTHS since I felt good enough about myself to put on some of my thrifted lingerie and flounce around the house like the fucking minx I am. Working out just a few days and the addictive feeling of a routine sneaking back in is enough to get me back in that mindset. This is another project I have been working on! Converting my Space Werewolf doll to an articulated ball joint doll version! It was scanned by @tripdwyr , digitally sliced and jointed by Kippar on @fiverr ( highly recommended) then further digitally modified and printed by @syntheticephemera ( also highly recommended!) I don't do digital work so it's nice to be able to lean on the skills of others to make an idea work. I will NOT release files but I will offer cast blanks and finished versions for sale once I get master molds completed. Almost there! This was NOT an easy one. 15" tall resin cast articulated elastic tension doll aka ball jointed doll ( BJD) These are cast in translucent urethane with different swirling colors and glitters that shine through the surface. @tripdwyr took a digital scan of my handmade sculpture and it was then sliced / further articulated by Kippar on @fiverr , printed/modified by @syntheticephemera - so glad to be able to rely on folks with skillsrts I do not have to make things a little easier. SO GLAD I didn't try to mod this by hand 🥲 Just making the 20 molds for this was a three week process! Still a little off on the edits but let's try this again! I will have two handmade, one of a kind artist cast Space Werewolf ball jointed dolls available this Friday at 2pm PST. These elastic tension dolls tested every ounce of my patience , 20 molds made, 20 casts for each doll and so much trial and error that I regretted being born. Boy am I tired of prepping casts but I am VERY excited for this. Once the casts reach the factory and production starts I will open for preorders, probably in 2-3 weeks.
