FWB AU please and thank you!!
I am open for prompts (ficlets and full fics), from your ideas to mine. Prompt away!
The elevator stopped on five. Margo nodded at Sergei, and Doctor Alpert who had also joined them for this particular elevator ride. "Good night. I'll see you at the panel tomorrow."
"Looking forward to it!" Sergei called out, and Margo tried not to wince at his audible enthusiasm. But that was Sergei Nikulov: every IAC conference, the man was just so delighted at the prospect of making friends, connecting with his colleagues. It was endearing, really. But also a little disheartening when Margo wondered just who he had to connect with back in Moscow.
Out on her floor, Margo made quick work of the few paces to her hotel room. She unlocked the door, kicked off her shoes, and took off her jacket. Her watch told her she had a good nine minutes for Sergei to reach floor seven, say goodnight to Alpert, and come back down the empty flights of stairs towards her hotel room. Just enough time for her to tidy a few things away, roll down her pantyhose, and take a quick drink of the brandy from the mini bar. It wasn't nerves, like it had been that first year during the '85 IAC conference. A newly divorced Sergei, an incredibly stressed Margo with no piano in sight. An argument in an elevator and an offer nervously made. No, this was different.
This was clear anticipation.
Two short knocks on the door. A pause. Then two more. Sergei. Margo reached over, opened the door, and allowed him to enter. He closed the door softly behind him, the latch catching with an audible snick in the quiet of the room. Margo heard her own uneven breathing, the pounding of her heartbeat in her ears. His slow, methodical walk towards her. Fuck. Sergei's gaze was burning: he took in the undone buttons of her blouse, the bare legs under her skirt. The missing heels and the turned down bed.
He finally closed the distance between them and cradled her face, pulling her up for a long, searing kiss. His tongue slid inside her mouth and all the stresses of her work began to melt away. No Jamestown reports; no Senate oversight committees. Just Sergei's tongue running along her own as he held the back of her neck, his other hand firm against the small of her back.
Pulling away, Sergei pressed his forehead against Margo's. He then left a kiss on the curve of her cheek, teeth nipping at the line of her throat. "I have thought of nothing else since leaving Moscow."
"Just since leaving Moscow?"
Sergei chuckled. "Perhaps longer. And you?"
Margo wasn't going to admit how often she thought about Sergei. Her attempts at stress relief often featured him, now, and the things he had done to her during the last two IAC conferences, that seminar in DC a few months back. That telephone call after Margo had got her new cell phone. But admitting that would put her at a disadvantage. So she didn't respond; just pushed his jacket from his shoulders and slid her hand along his jaw, drawing his mouth back down to hers. Margo felt Sergei smile against her lips as she deepened their kiss.
Mouths barely moving from each other, they made it to the bed. Margo hiked up her skirt; Sergei fiddled with the zipper of his pants. Like last year, they didn't worry about losing any more clothes. Margo enjoyed the feel of his mouth against her breast through the layers of fabric, the damp cotton cool against her skin. She relished how the material of his pants rubbed against her inner thigh as he rutted against her. The weight of Sergei's fingers pressing into her thigh as she wrapped her legs around him, pulling him close.
Inside her, moving slowly, Sergei stared down at her in wonder. He opened his mouth; Margo pressed two fingers to his lips. "Whatever you're about to say, I don't need to hear it. I just need you."
Sergei blinked, nodded, and buried his face in the juncture between her neck and shoulder. He would leave marks – teeth marks in the fabric; bruises upon her skin. Last year she had flushed with embarrassment, afraid that everyone would notice. But half the attendees were in bed with other engineers; it was also October in the UK, so high necklines were acceptable. It was a better use of Sergei's mouth, too.
Margo didn't need to be told she was beautiful. She just needed to feel a release.

2024: 100k words of FAM fic (!!!) 2025 plans: no clue. Send me prompts/requests!
Thank you to @havingbeenbreathedout for inspiring me to reflect on my writing in 2024 and share plans for 2025! (Also, special thank you to both @sparkleplatypuswriter and @tiltedsyllogism for bringing me into the For All Mankind community this year so I didn’t have to write, read, and geek out about the show alone ❤️).
I can’t believe I am typing this, but I literally wrote 100k words of For All Mankind fic in 2024 (!), 94.5k of which I’ve published on my AO3 page here. I wrote 7 fics (6 of them complete, 1 of them 80% complete). The one I’m most proud of is my monster post-S3 Aleida fic This hunger, it isn’t you, but I loved writing them all! Thank you to everyone who has ever left a comment on one of my fics or might be inclined to do so in the future - they truly mean everything to me as a writer.
For 2025…I actually have zero plans or WIPs except for Turns within me, turns without me - my Aleida (and Margo) fic set during the S2 to S3 gap. I’m pretty close to finishing that fic and have already written 5.5k words of the final two chapters. After that…I honestly don’t know! I LOVE writing Aleida (and her family), and would write more if anyone was interested in reading it - I’m just not sure if I’m boring the FAM community with my stories at this point 😂 I could also write about other characters - some of you may know that I wrote a Karen fic in a fic exchange for @havingbeenbreathedout, and it was a really lovely experience!
So my ask is, if you are someone who likes reading my work and might be interested in reading more of it, are there any characters or prompts that you would love to read or would enjoy seeing me tackle? Comment here or send me an ask ❤️

Fic writing 2025.
So both @sapphoshands and @sparkleplatypuswriter tagged me in a variation of the 2025 WIP meme that asks to identify three stories or ideas that you've been thinking about that you might actually publish this year.
And like, this is massively out of my comfort zone. I am notorious for, like, not telling my beta I'm working on a story until I show up on her doorstep with it like a cat who killed a mouse as an unwelcome gift. The routine sharing of WIP snippets gives me hives (I love you all anyway, but a;lkakjhdf). Stories are precious things, and they need love until they are ready to be shared with the world. Mine tend to freak out and run off.
But look, it's a new year. I will try a new thing. If these ideas run away because I wrote them down and told the universe, I will never do this again. Also forgive me, you aren't getting, like, summaries. I would rather eat my own feet.
Margo x Sergei first time(s). Trauma recovery things, unexpected roles.
5 choices Margo didn't make, and one that she did. Probably the closest thing to Margo character study I have going at the moment (you knew it was coming). Canon divergence AU until it isn't. (This is actually the very first story idea I had in this fandom, and I planned to write it first until a couple scenes from acts of survival were literally keeping me up at night.)
I think some of the other big ideas aren't ready for prime time, so let's just say: more kisses! I have at least four ideas scribbled down, and one of them is a giant angst fest I've been thinking about for eleven months, so. Stay tuned!
Tagging @moocowmoocow and anyone else who wants to play.

Fic number tag game
I was tagged by @sparkleplatypuswriter - thank you!
rules: give us the links to your fic with the most hits, second most kudos, third most comments, fourth most bookmarks, fifth most words, and fic with the least words (feel free to interpret however you would like; if not on AO3, can be on Tumblr or FFNET!).
I'm choosing to only use the fics I published on AO3, as the comparison with fics from 15 years ago wouldn't be fair. It should be a nice mix of FAM and House fics :) which are the two fandoms where my heart is at, always.
Most hits: Home Again (House, M.D. x The Good Doctor). An ambitious cross-over where House and Cuddy reunite with the son they had when they slept together in med school. Officially on hiatus but it's still dear to my heart, and I'd love to finish it one day.
Second most kudos: Night Reading (House, M.D.). A smutty one-shot in which House and Cuddy read erotica together. I don't like it as much as I used to, but I love that it's garnered such enthusiasm!
Third most comments: Brazil (For All Mankind). The back burner WIP that's taking me forever <3 but that I'm enjoying working on/tearing my hair over little by little. It challenges me to think about plot and character development in ways I usually don't.
Fourth most bookmarks: It's a tie between A Good Team (For All Mankind) and Mess of You (For All Mankind), aka the Margo x Sergei babysitting fic (probably the fic I'm the most proud of), and Margo and Molly fucking on a desk (😈).
Fifth most words: Arrivals (so far! as it's my current WIP): a collection of Margo and Sergei, in a long-distance relationship, reuniting every six weeks. No need for a plot when there's this much fluff 😂
Fic with the least words: All Over Again (For All Mankind): some years into Margo's prison sentence, Sergei comes to pick her up. I probably could have written more, but it was a get-it-out-of-my-system kind of fic. I'm happy with it as it is.
One interesting thing that's come out of this game, is that despite the House fics having the most hits and kudos and being years older, the FAM fics have the most comments. I love it here; writing for this fandom has been such a different, more interactive experience, which at the end of the day I feel like is absolute catnip for fic writers (at least it is for me!) <3
I wish to tag: @ddagent @moocowmoocow @h4t08 @alexdumas-ghost @pirateboots and @milkwithginseng (and anybody who'd like to do it!)

Fic number tag game
I was tagged by @youreorangeyoumoron. I'm sorry it took me a little longer to do this.
Rules: give us the links to your fic with the most hits, second most kudos, third most comments, fourth most bookmarks, fifth most words, and fic with the least words (feel free to interpret however you would like; if not on AO3, can be on Tumblr or FFNET!).
I'm choosing to only use the fics I published on AO3. It’s been a hot minute since I’ve been on ff.net. I don’t even remember my password. A lot of these ended up being the same story, so I changed it so that each section is a different fandom.
Most hits (Star Trek Voyager): Temptation - Janeway, Chakotay, and an alien orgy. That’s it. That’s the premise of the story. There are some feelings, too.
Second most kudos (Call the Midwife): The Nun - An AU where Shelagh, a prostitute known as The Nun, meets and falls in love with Dr. Patrick Turner. This story was over a year and a half in the making. It's what really got me in writing AUs. I wish I could finish the sequel, but I think the time for that has come and gone.
Third most comments (For All Mankind): Amsterdam - I loved this one so much! Instead of the Americans and Soviets meeting in Houston, they meet in Amsterdam. It is there Margo really gets to know Sergei before knowing that he is the lead engineer for the Soviets.
Fourth most bookmarks (Gilded Age, Stargate SG-1, 9-1-1, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel): A Conspiring Universe (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) - It’s my guess on how Rose and Abe could have met in the 1920s. They are so dang cute together, their relationship, fascinating! I actually had a lot more written, but I could not finish the story, so I posted up to a good stopping point.
Fifth most words (Gilded Age, Stargate SG-1, 9-1-1, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel): Secrets (Gilded Age) - This was originally going to be about a secret relationship between Luke and Ada, but it turned into more of a character exploration for Ada. With the new season coming out soon, I hope we learn more about her and Agnes' past.
Fic with the least words (all): Merry and Bright (Call the Midwife) - Genuinely, this is crack cocaine. It was meant to be a silly version of how Patrick and Shelagh spent their first Christmas together. The first 2 chapters equal 111 words. The third is a sneak peek to The Wife, which was a sequel to The Nun.
I'm gonna tag @miss-ute @ddagent @sparkleplatypuswriter @thatginchygal and anyone else who would like to play along.

"Falling Slowly" just came up on a playlist I'm listening to, and reminded me that I still really think there should be a Margo x Sergei fanvid set to this song. (I know several other people brought it up when @sparkleplatypuswriter asked for song suggestions for vids a while back ...)

If you're still doing the number thing I am curious about number 7 👀
@sparkleplatypuswriter: 7
7. Defectors Margo & Sergei sneak out to the IAC conference and reunite.
Her badge read Margaret Reynolds. As did her passport, her driver's license. Margo had grown out her hair since her departure from JSC, but the jet black wig hid any greying red hair from view. The contact lenses felt uncomfortable against her irises but they were another line of protection. If anyone recognised her as Margo Madison, she would be escorted back to the US and would never see daylight again - or thrown in the back of a cargo plane and then in a very dark, very damp cell.
Escaping her handler had been easier than expected. But it was Aleida's first IAC conference - Margo couldn't, wouldn't miss it.
But sitting in the bar, staring at the spot where she and Sergei had wiled away many an evening, Margo's thoughts drifted to him. To how he was doing in the US. Whether he'd been able to get a position at NASA, like Margo had hoped to arrange for him, or whether he was stuck teaching twelfth-grade physics. At least she wasn't the only one lost in a brandy. Across the bar, an older gentleman with a flat cap pulled low on his face and a cane hanging over the back of his chair stared at the same spot Margo couldn't keep her gaze from.
After too long down memory lane, Margo abandoned her brandy and headed back to her hotel room. There were a number of panels she wanted to attend tomorrow; she would need her rest. The gentleman with a cane followed her onto the elevator. Five. Seven. This was the first time she had been back to the IAC since '93 - she had hoped, prayed to find Sergei at a panel, in this elevator. But he never came. She would never see him again: not here, not in the US, not even in Moscow.
Standing beside her in the elevator, Sergei Nikulov was thinking the exact same thing.

WIP WEDNESDAY
Thanks for the tag @sparkleplatypuswriter 💛 and thank you for this little sneak peak at the next chapter of #brazilverse… I think it goes without saying but I love it there!
I’ve been playing with some FAM ideas for a while, especially Margo’s relationships with the other people in her life, like Emma! Here’s a little of something I’ve been working on (even though Wednesday was the other day). I don’t know if it will ever fully see the light of day, but it’s fun to mess around. It’s saved as “wrapdress” in my WIP folder
Tagging anyone who wants to share!
With a heavy sigh, Margo's arms dropped to her sides.
Glancing between Margo and the equally offended hangers swaying on the rod, Emma's curiosity finally broke. "Is there something specific you're looking for?"
"I thought I had..." Margo's voice trailed off, looking at her clothes as if they had betrayed her. "Somethin's come up."
Emma's brow creased as confusion clouded her features—a question suspended on her lips.
Margo's discomfort was evident; her posture had gone rigid as she shifted uneasily. "I, uh…" her chin twitched with hesitation. "I'm meeting Sergei Nikulov later tonight."
Emma's eyes widened, flickering with intrigue.
"Not." Margo held up her hand, needing to waylay the assumptions that were surely gaining momentum in Emma's mind. "Not for…" she sighed and defensively crossed her arms over her chest. "He and I need to have an honest conversation about this docking problem." Her eyes moved back to her clothes, hanging in her closet and continued, "Without his damn babysitter."
Their eyes met, and the corner of Emma's mouth twitched into her cheek in a commiserative smirk. "So you've invited him..." The question was left unfinished, as Margo answered with a subtle nod, "Yep."
Emma raised an eyebrow. She knew about Club 11:59 from almost the beginning. Having heard that Margo played the piano, she brought it up one day as she made small talk, trying to get to know the woman who had asked for her specifically to be the assistant to the Director of JSC.
Margo stepped away from the shelf they were filling with technical manuals and design specs. "Did Molly tell you that?"
Emma's brow furrowed; it was well known that there was tension between Margo and Molly, but she wondered why Margo would jump to that conclusion. "No," she answered honestly, looking over to Margo. Their conversation had been light and superficial, if not one-sided, as Emma had been doing most of the talking. "Uhm," she faltered in response to Margo's tense expression, knowing the truth could (probably would) be worse. "It was just something I heard," and then added, "a long time ago," for clarification.
Margo turned, putting one hand on her desk and the other on her hip. Her eyes narrowed. "Who?" Weary suspicion laced her tone.
Emma's lips rolled under her teeth, shifting her weight uncomfortably as her eyes darted to the floor.
"I do...play piano," Margo's voice surprised her, and she looked back up in time to see the tension easing from Margo's face. "I'm classically trained, but I prefer," she faltered, lifting her hand to her ear, "I play jazz."
They both inhaled. A mixture of relief and self-consciousness filled the space between them. "It was..." Emma cleared her throat, preparing herself for Margo's reaction. "It was Dr. VonBron who told me."
Margo recoiled, her back straightening, clearly surprised.
Wringing her hands, Emma continued, her words tripping out of her mouth. "I wouldn't have... I mean, I should have realized before I asked...it's private, obviously," she shrugged. "He told me, but I won't...." she hesitated again. "The only way for me to do this job well is if you trust me."
Margo's nod was subtle—accepting.
"I would never," Emma added softly.
A hint of something flickered across Margo's face as she turned toward the bookshelf. Emma watched her take a fortifying breath before going back to arranging books in a way that made sense to her. Her hand hovered over the box on Margo's desk, waiting until finally she reached in and plucked out another binder, which she placed next to the others on the shelf. They worked together in silence until the shelves were nearly full—until Margo's voice eased into the quiet. "I play at a jazz club sometimes. At night." They looked at one another. "It's something I do, for me...to clear my head."
Emma smiled.
"Your dry-cleaning won't be ready until the end of the week," she offered as an explanation for the absence of whatever Margo was looking for.
"Damnit," Margo muttered with an air of exasperation.

Fic number tag game
Thank you to multiple Tumblr friends for tagging me, and to @sparkleplatypuswriter specifically for writing a lovely and succinct post that made participating feel less overwhelming 😂
Rules: give us the links to your fic with the most hits, second most kudos, third most comments, fourth most bookmarks, fifth most words, and fic with the least words (feel free to interpret however you would like; if not on AO3, can be on Tumblr or FFNET!).
All of my fics discussed below are for the For All Mankind fandom and — surprise, surprise — most are canon-compliant stories about my love Aleida Rosales 😂
Most hits: Turns within me, turns without me. This is a WIP fic (almost there! I’ve completed nine of ten chapters) that fills in the gaps for Aleida in between S2 and S3, focusing both on her personal life and her relationship with Margo. I have a love/hate relationship with this fic 😆 I’ve been writing it for a long time and evolved as a writer, so there are naturally parts of it (more-so in the first half of the fic) that make me cringe a bit.
Second most kudos AND third most comments: Would it have been worth it, after all. This is one of my favorite fics! It covers Aleida’s POV of, and emotional journey during, the one-month period in S4 when she’s passing notes between Margo and Sergei. I appreciate the love I’ve gotten on this one from Margo/Sergei shippers on here, especially as it’s still a very Aleida-centric story.
Fourth most bookmarks: Only two of my fics even have bookmarks 😂 So let’s go with my fic with the second most bookmarks (a grand total of one): This hunger, it isn’t you. This story is my longest non-chapter fic, and it was the BIGGEST labor of love for me; as a result, it’s my personal favorite, and I think it’s my most underappreciated fic 😂 I was inspired to write this fic after re-watching the flashback scene of the stranded Mars crew just before Dani and Ed find Danny’s body. They all looked so emaciated and weak, and I suddenly had this idea that Aleida — as someone who’s experienced food insecurity herself — would have become personally obsessed with saving the crew from starvation in the months following the JSC bombing. Of course, since I am me, the REAL story quickly became Aleida’s post-bombing mental health journey (i.e. repression of Margo related trauma) and the evolution of her relationships to work and family between S3 and S4.
Fifth most words: Fire in her eyes. My sole non-Aleida fic (okay, I did work in a reference to her). This is a Karen Baldwin POV, Karen &|/ Tracy fic that I wrote for a fandom exchange. This one was a step outside my comfort zone, but I am actually so happy with how it turned out, and glad I got the opportunity to write it!
Fic with the least words: Kept on the inside. If you ever wondered whether Aleida showed Margo her scars, this is my take — set on Aleida’s wedding day. I published this little fic as a standalone one-shot but it was originally intended to be (and eventually became) a scene in Turns within me, discussed above!
I think many of my mutuals have been tagged already but feel free to steal this!

Fic number tag game
I was tagged by @blossom--of--snow a while ago and am just now getting to this!
rules: give us the links to your fic with the most hits, second most kudos, third most comments, fourth most bookmarks, fifth most words, and fic with the least words (feel free to interpret however you would like; if not on AO3, can be on Tumblr or FFNET!).
Most hits: When the Long Trick's Over (Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries, Phryne x Jack), which also has the most kudos (by a great deal). In which Jack follows Phryne to England, and the logistics are the easy part. 8,841 hits.
Second most kudos: for the possession of our smallest sensations (Wheel of Time, Moiraine character study, Moiraine x Siuan). In which Moiraine comes to terms with being shielded after 1x08. 432 kudos.
Third most comments: My story with the second most kudos has the third most comments, and my story with the most hits has my second most comments, so uh, let's go outward in both directions.
Most comments: what we remember of love is starlight (For All Mankind, Margo x Sergei). A ficlet collection based around a Tumblr prompt list for 50 reasons to kiss. This is the most generous fandom in the entire universe. 315 comments, as of this writing.
Foruth most comments: Emblems of the Day (Babylon 5, John character study, John x Delenn). A gapfiller for "Rising Star," which takes place over about a month - John learns to live with his war. 70 comments.
Fourth most bookmarks: Walls for the Wind (Leverage, Sophie x Nate). Sophie Devereaux marries Nate Ford. 42 bookmarks.
Fifth most words: With this last chapter, what we remember of love is starlight just inched out ebb on with them who homeward go (The Doctor Blake Mysteries, Jean character study, Lucien x Jean), but ebb on is important to me. At just over 12k words it was one of my first attempt at writing anything "long." Nothing happens. It is not as good as I think it is, but it is one of the stories of my heart.
Fic with the least words: things you said through your teeth (Call the Midwife, Shelagh x Patrick), 293 words. A true snippet.
Lots of people have played this but tagging @sapphoshands @moocowmoocow @sparkleplatypuswriter for giggles.
