Seal-Shark Jerky (Zukka)
Chief!Sokka, ExiledPirate!Zuko AU
Sokka stays behind in the village to help his people and only Katara and Aang go away.
In the Tribe it's common knowledge that Sokka loves seal-shark jerky. It's his favorite food. Everyone, including Zuko, a pirate known by the name Blue Spirit, feared in the Four Seas by every Fire Nation stamped ship and revered by any outcast, who likes to spend the crews breaks and recoveries in the lands of the young Chief.
Or so he thought, until...
"I hate jerky" admitted Sokka in the silence of the night, Zuko to be the only ear in miles "I've never said that outloud before..." he laughed shakily "when I first started taking care of the Tribe, when I was around ten-... Oh, by La, I was so young" a hand in his mouth, incredulous.
Zuko couldn't even imagine the pressure, the fear.
"A-anyways, back then, the food started depleting, because all the hunters had gone to war and nobody knew how to hunt. At least not well enough. Later on, people learned"
Sokka shifted, avoiding his eyes, but unable to stop himself.
"Everyone, the children more than anyone else, hated jerky, which was the most abundant source of nutrients, and almost the only one, for a while" a sigh, reminiscent "I knew that I, being the closest to their age, excluding Katara, and having been left in charge by the Chief, my father, that they had begun to see me even more as their role model" he closed his eyes, a small smile touching his lips "So I used that to my advantage"
Zuko couldn't take his eyes away from the young Chief. Even if he had wanted to, which he didn't.
"So I started telling everyone how jerky was the best thing ever invented, salty and impossible to chew as it is. That winter was the first, and the only one, in which jerky almost went out" a soft laugh, Zuko blushes, and bullshits himself into believing it's because of the cold air "The next winter, there was more variety of food, but the Tribe wholeheartedly believed I went crazy over jerky, and gave me their jerky rations all the time, until jerky was the only thing I ate for a while"
A rush of cold air goes through, and Sokka closes the gap between them completely. Zuko is the warmest thing in the entire continent, at that moment.
"And so, they ate other things, and left the jerky to me. I think eating so much jerky may be the only reason why my fangs are so sharp" He laughed, from deep in his belly, this time. He wasn't sad anymore "Now, when I eat it, I'm happy, because it means someone else is eating something better. So yes, jerky is my favorite food, and I hate the taste of it"
Could Zuko actually fall more in love with that idiot?
It seemed like he could.

I think ur down playing exile on accident. The times where people visited don't rlly count because to c!Tommy they were ingenuine and just there to pity or for decorations which that third one was something c!dream told him about ghostburs visits
[context]
Perhaps you are right, but here’s the thing, just because c!Tommy sees things a certain way or thinks certain things are true doesn’t mean they are true. Not to say his feelings aren’t valid, of course. Exile was terrible and tragic regardless if it actually happened the way he saw it. You can feel alone, even in a room full of people. You can be suicidal and depressed even if the circumstances aren’t dire, and Tommy was just betrayed by his best friend that could cause anyone to spiral and feel alone. Even so, that’s not me saying that Exile wasn’t horribly isolating and Dream wasn’t cruel and manipulative. I was simply (perhaps not the most successfully) trying to look at it from an outsider pov - if it was from their pov then it’d be kinda more like this:
Dream (loses his armor and weapons, spends months tortured everyday, spends most of a year eating potatoes, his best friend is trying to kill him (like everyone else)): “I quite enjoy life.”
Tommy (his items are taken over and over again, spends Exile getting tortured by green bastard, spends Exile getting manipulated and screwed in the head to the point of contemplating suicide, his best friend doesn’t visit (just like everyone else because the green bastard turned everyone against him)): “I built a pillar because of Dream and I almost intended to jump off it.”
If that makes sense… I appreciate you using accident and thinking the best of me <3. Yes I’m not trying to minimize Exile but at the same time, 9 days to approximately 83 days of torture and 314 days of imprisonment total, it’s hard not to minimize Exile with that comparison, even if his 9 days was starvation, torture, and isolation (besides his torturer) it still wouldn’t compare and that’s not even what happened anyways, ya know? (<- not an open invitation to talk more about exile, I’ve talked about it quite a lot more than I care to, so go read those posts)…

In my opinion Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II (2004) was inspired by two of those stories
1. Spirited Away (2001)
I. First of all masks
II. Lord of hunger & Ghost of hunger
At one point No-face (your ghost) is eating everything and everyone in bathhouse.
2. Alien 3 (1992)
I. Story
Doctor in alien 3 (Jonathan Clemens) odly similar story to Atton. Bitter Sweet Romance of him with Ripley where he hides who he realy was in the past reminds me Atton and the Exile a lot.
II. Visual style overall, atmosphere, many desaturated colors.
What do you think?

The entire Anglo-Saxon identity rests upon murder due to blood feud, as the Anglo-Saxon tribe broke away from the Caucasus Judaic tribe due to someone’s wife cheating on them, starting a blood feud and endless battles. The spiritual path of an Anglo-Saxon is to kill a bunch of people for essentially no reason, find God afterwards, only to realize that you killed a bunch of people for no reason and you’re going to Hell, so you just have to make the best of it. Anglo-Saxons who find God in other ways are disavowed as Anglo-Saxons, and used to be killed or exiled. This is why Anglo-Saxons have no real spiritual leaders and very little or no connection to the spirit.

FINALLYYYY~~ Seal-Shark Jerky (2/2) [I think it can be read on it's own, tho].
Look, I loved doing this comic, but I can't deny it was a lot of work. At least for someone who's used to making one fan work=one post.
This proyect ended up becoming five different posts. That's quite a lot. I don't know if I should make a masterpost. Let me know if I should, pls
Also, I downloaded and *cof, cof* pirated *cof, cof* (don't worry, I stole only from AI xD) a lot of new brushes, textures and onomatopeias.
If it's annoying, or you guys think it just doesn't work with this particular comic/my art style, also let me know. Taking the onomatopeias out of this wouldn't be all that difficult, I think.
Clothing Design (Skipable).
Zuko's Arrival (Skipable, but I'll be sad :c).
Seal-Shark Jerky Comic (Part 1/2).
Interlude (Skipable).
Seal-Shark Jerky (Zukka) The One-Shot I based this on~

Originally this Navali piece was for a contest Path of Exile was running. But didn't have the time to finish it.
I still really enjoyed the sketch though, so been workin' on it in spurts between other projects. There were a few creative liberties taken on design.
