I'm not gonna pretend I'm not incredibly guilty of this, but the Death Note fandom really does give way too much credit to the main characters sometimes. "Why did Near live where the others died" because Light's allies were horny sycophants with rose-tinted glasses so thick they couldn't see five feet in front of their faces, L's allies had already been suckered by the enemy (and also a literal immortal God wanted him dead), Mello's allies were some generic mafia goons (and Matt I guess, who isn't all bad but is highly specialised). And Near's allies were the most competent people in the United States of America and they actually trusted each other for the most part.

Darkness finds; 2022-2024.
OOPS. Looks like we jumped the gun. Earlier this month, we shared the original shorter list of @postpunkindustrial’s finds from our previous music roll (Ω+) and already it’s gotten some fever. We didn’t realize we set the trigger a few days earlier than intended, just as more of these titles were being released for all of us to have.
Good news: We upped the finds five-fold since then. We found a lot of curious stuff worth hearing and an era to appreciate, so here’s the list we intended on posting. Industrial, breakcore, new wave, goth rock, no-wave, hip-hop, noise, and experimental sounds are all on the table - and then some.
In a never-ending race for us to catch up on everything we haven’t listened to yet, we’ll still take more. It’s possible that we’ll use them for future purposes (posting, airplay, etc.) and for you to get some ideas, because that’s what we do here. But, don't thank us, thank him for sharing the wealth. It’s the right thing to do.

꧁Kyosuke Higuchi Analysis꧂
This is an analysis about Kyosuke Higuchi, the 3rd Kira we are introduced to in the Death Note series. I’d like to make it clear from the start that this is not a post to condemn him or justify his actions—the main idea is to better understand his motives and who he is as a person by analyzing the things he says and does. Understanding Higuchi provides striking insight into other characters and the story as a whole.
‧̍̊·̊‧̥°̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥‧̥·̊‧̍̊ ♡ °̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥ ·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙·̩̩̥͙*̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ °̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥ ♡ ‧̍̊·̊‧̥°̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥‧̥·̊‧̍̊‧̍̊·̊‧̥°̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥‧̥·̊‧̍̊ ♡ °̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥ ·͙*̩̩͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩̥͙·̩̩̥͙*̩̩̥͙˚̩̥̩̥*̩̩͙‧͙ °̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥ ♡ ‧̍̊·̊‧̥°̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥‧̥·̊‧̍̊‧̍̊·̊‧̥°̩̥˚̩̩̥͙°̩̥‧̥·̊‧
Okay, I should mention from the start that I will not be analyzing every single scene Higuchi is in, that will be too time-consuming and not really necessary. Instead, I've handpicked the ones I believe are most important to offer perception into who he is. The majority of this analysis will focus on the manga, because the anime does not cover as much detail about Yotsuba and some outside sources.
Higuchi makes his debut in Volume 5, Chapter 36. His features were probably obscured because we're not supposed to know which one of the Yostuba men were Kira yet. But can we just appreciate how funny (in an inappropriate way) this looks?? He's literally got the classic bad guy appearance being this figure in a dark room doing evil deeds. Also, I apologize that the manga caps have to be in Japanese, it's the only version available to me at this moment. However, I will provide translations and explanations.
So, just to summarize what's going on in the first two scenes, it's when Rem approached Higuchi. He's seems to be asking Rem to be precise that he can freely use the death note as long as he kills the criminals broadcasted on tv and she agrees. In the second cap, Higuchi says something along the lines of "This is a good trading business for both Rem and me."
From these first two scenes, we know Rem chose Higuchi to be the person to continue the Kira killings and use the death note selfishly as Light requested. We see Higuchi performs these killings without second thought or remorse, in fact, he's quite content with the circumstances going as far as to call this a "good trading business." We understand from the Yotsuba arc as a whole that Higuchi did not only target criminals but important figures in the business world for personal advantages. We can pick up from this that Higuchi is cruel, greedy, and has little to no respect for human life. He values attaining wealth and power to the extent he doesn't mind killing people who have done him no wrong. We get further insight to his motivations through things Light, Namikawa, and Mido will say, but more information on that later.
I'd like to bring up Halle Lidner here because during the time Higuchi takes over as Kira, he kills Halle's friend which eventually leads to her joining the SPK. This gives us some potential clues about Halle as a person too...Was Halle's friend an important figure in the business world? Was he or she Japanese because Higuchi's in Japan and the majority of his victims probably were? Personally, I believe Halle has connections to Japan. This could explain why Halle understands the language and seems to function well as Kiyomi's bodyguard. This allows us to come up with our own interpretations for her past that are not without basis. Alright, back to Higuchi.
The next scenes I've included are one of Yotsuba's meetings where the men speculate one of them must be Kira or have a connection to Kira because last week and the week before that, the murders decided in the meetings came true. Takahashi questions why did Kira start taking on murders like this instead of just judging bad guys? And we see here, Higuchi essentially tells him that Kira's doing this because it benefits Kira and calls Takahashi a fool. With this little scene we can pick up that Higuchi has no problem with being rude to people but this is perhaps one of his lesser bad qualities when you consider this is a man who kills for benefits and without remorse. Another factor to keep in mind is in a future scene Mido explains that Higuchi only forced Takahashi to join the Meetings of Death because he was considered less sophisticated than Higuchi and Higuchi needs someone like that to make himself look and feel better. So, it's fair to say Higuchi's an insecure person.

Here are some screenshots I took of Higuchi's page on the English Death Note Wiki. We're given a little background info about him which I'm going to try to use to gain better understanding about his history. My initial thought before I checked this was that Higuchi rose to a high position within Yostuba through underhanded tactics and/or he happened to have a connection. We get to see here that Higuchi does in fact have a connection through his father who's the president of Yotsuba Heavy Industrial. It seems Higuchi was probably able to become the Head of Technology Development through this connection and his abilities, I guess. Despite we know that Higuchi tends to be considered one of the less intelligent and less capable folk, he can't be completely incapable in the brains department since he does have 6/10 in his Knowledge Stats.
Now I want to talk a little bit about this scene, when Hatori fearing the potential reality of ending up in jail says he wants out of the meetings, to this, Higuchi assures Hatori he'll be dead by tomorrow with a creepy smile on his face. Let's face it, the other Yotsuba men probably figured out Higuchi was Kira right here, because he's able to say this with such confidence. This scene reiterates Higuchi's cruelty and lack of respect for human life.
So, this is at scene when Namikawa makes the point about how Kira desires status to which Higuchi claims that's 「くだらねー」 which translates to "crap" in Google Translate but in this context, it probably means something along the lines of "how stupid/dumb." This is important because Mido does make a point about this later...which you will find out when we get there. 😁
And now we have a scene with Shingo Mido's look alike Light Yagami (or is it the other way around? I mean, Mido is older than Light, but Light is the MC of this story...) Sorry for the lame joke lol. But anyways, I want to show these two manga caps where Light notices the difference between the Kira killings from before and after he was confined. When Light was Kira, Kira did not kill criminals who had no intention of killing, those who accidentally killed someone and those who had room for extenuating circumstances. To put it simply, Higuchi kills criminals without taking into account if the criminal really deserves to be punished...I hope I explained that well?
Next, I want to discuss the episode where Misa goes on a date with Higuchi to trick him into revealing he's Kira to help Light return to power. At first, I will admit, I thought Higuchi's actions didn't make too much sense and it was a plot device for the most part. But looking at this from the perspective of somebody who's not supposed to be one of the great brains of the series and taking into account having the death note made Higuchi blinded by power it's more believable that he would start to get careless and make mistakes like this. Also, it has to be kept in mind Higuchi has no idea Misa's in love with somebody else and he probably thought Misa might marry him to be something like an arm trophy wife. Something else I would like to point out is how this scene was slightly altered in the anime. In the manga, we just have Higuchi getting into Misa's face at his most aggressive, whereas in the anime, Higuchi physically took her down and towered over. It almost looks like he is about to r*pe her, thankfully, he does not. But I think it is quite a significant difference, perhaps he's even more of an aggressive pervert in the anime than he was in the manga. Personally, I don't like this change because if Higuchi was not depicted in the style of an almost potential rapist in the manga that should not be so in the anime as well.
Here's another scene we're shown how the Yostuba men in particular Mido and Namikawa (though it's probably reasonable to say Shimura as well) have figured out Kira is Higuchi. In this scene, Mido, Light Yagami's Yostuba counterpart, makes a point about how Higuchi needed Takahashi to make himself look better and of the group Higuchi is the one most obsessed with status. The way he talks about how status doesn't matter to him shows how much the opposite is the truth. Namikawa goes on to talk about how Higuchi makes fun of people but can't use them well and it's caused him to be demoted in the past. Now, one could dismiss these comments as Higuchi's colleagues badmouthing him because they dislike him but I'm inclined to believe this is all true because Higuchi's actions have proven all of this. It also brings us back to the point that Higuchi is not one of the more capable characters in this series.
This is another scene that proves Higuchi's lust for power and status. He's gleefully declaring that he now has the Shinigami eyes because he has stopped the Kira killings for 3 days like Misa requested so that she will marry him. He goes on to say he's going to tell the president (of the company) let's just say "CEO" because I'm about 99% sure this is what he means, that he is Kira, he's going to first get a promotion, then someday become the CEO himself and then those six will be...And then he gets cut off because he gets that call from Namikawa to turn on Sakura TV and the demise of Higuchi begins. Before we move on to the next part, in this scene we learn the more specifics of Higuchi’s motivations all along, he wants to become the CEO of Yotsuba and there’s nothing he wouldn’t do to achieve this goal, especially since he was given something as powerful as the death note.
I've fast forwarded to this scene when Higuchi finally makes the Shinigami eye deal with Rem. So we've known this whole time he didn't have the Shinigami eyes which is a lot of the reason he wanted Misa (whom he believed had the eyes at the time) to be his wife. Higuchi didn't want to cut half of his remaining life span for them, and well, it's easy to understand why it's a heavy price to pay. But I guess from this scene itself we learn that if he is pushed far enough between looking at a life in prison and/or death penalty or living a shorter financially prosperous life, he chooses the latter and decides the deal is finally worth it.
I will fast forward once more, to the part here when Higuchi, in a final act of desperation takes himself hostage. We could use this scene as proof of how dumb Higuchi is, but I personally do not think taking this action when under extremely stressful circumstances is unrealistic. People under extreme pressure could do things that could look ridiculous to those who aren't. Even Higuchi in this last panel acknowledges this, declaring that his life is over.
We know after this Watari shoots the gun out of Higuchi's hand and Soichiro and Mogi arrest him.
And then Light got his death note back, regained his memories, and killed off Higuchi.
However, this analysis is not done just yet, you see I would like to now take this opportunity to talk about how in the Death Note films, Higuchi and Kiyomi's characters were combined. And this might be looking too deep into it, but I doubt the choice was completely random because instead of using Higuchi or Kiyomi, they could have just added a new character. I believe this was done because the movie makers (either consciously or subconsciously) might’ve noticed Higuchi and Kiyomi share certain traits in common. They’re both highly jealous people who lust after power. They’re both obsessed with having others envy and admire them, but try to conceal this fact due to their pride. However, I will say I think Kiyomi is not as morally depraved as Higuchi, has a little more respect for human life than he does, and is more intelligent/capable but that’s beside the point.
Furthermore, in my opinion the film creators did a great job with this because they did not simply swap Kiyomi with Higuchi, but rewrote Kiyomi to be a more intriguing villain—that and Nana Katase is a great actress. Kiyomi was different from Higuchi in how she was able to make decisions and take actions on her own when she became Kira. If you haven’t watched the films, I want to encourage you to do so. The female characters are handled much better and Kiyomi easily became my second favorite female character in the movies.
To conclude, I intended to offer some insights into Higuchi's motivations and character while also making a point about how understanding him helps us better understand seemingly unrelated characters like Halle and Kiyomi. There's always so much more that goes on beneath the surface, that ignoring side characters can cause a person to miss out. Higuchi is, to put it simply, greedy, insecure, and has little to no morals whatsoever. He shows us this in how he would kill innocent people to criminals who don’t deserve the death sentence, use Takahashi to try to make himself look better, and would try to take over a company through murder and threats. Higuchi is an excellent example of how power in the wrong hands can blind someone and the chaos they can create due to low moral character. And I’m not exaggerating Higuchi’s actions ruined Yotsuba and took the lives of many innocent businessmen and women. l think Higuchi is interesting, and I can fully appreciate him as a fictional villain. Higuchi is my second favorite Kira, when I say this, please don't misunderstand this as I like him as a person standing in the same room with me or wish for him to be my friend…I bet however, nobody can ever guess who my No. 1 favorite Kira is. 😆 Anyways, thank you so much for reading this post. I sincerely hope it was worth your time. Have a great day/night. 😊💖

Beyond Birthday faked his death in 2004 and now lives alone as a poor and pretty miserable theatre actor with a fake name. Oh, and also it's a Kira wins au.
Years after the Kira case has concluded, L takes on Near as an apprentice.
Matt takes Near on a tour of an afterlife-like world they both wound up in. It's more like a dreamscape than anything else but it serves as an afterlife.

The influence of Thelema upon experimental Industrial and, later, post-industrial, post-punk and neofolk groups cannot be overstated.
Consider that Psychic TV’s membership at one time included Marc Almond (of Soft Cell), Rose McDowall (formerly of Strawberry Switchblade), Douglas Rushkoff (Cyberpunk media theorist) Consider that SPK member Graeme Revell went on to work in film and tv score (Freddie vs Jason, Sin City, Aeon Flux, CSI: Miami)
And you can begin to appreciate how thee seeds ov occulture can be sewn into popular society by a fringe group of practitioners
Chart is taken from ZERO KAMA, NEKROPHILE REKORDS AND THE OCCULT UNDERGROUND OF THE POSTINDUSTRIAL ERA
A rather insightful talk from Zoe Dewitt of Zero Kama infamy (if you haven’t listened to Secret Eye of LAYLAH, get on that right now)
It should, as always, be noted that my alignment is strictly with these pioneers of musical exploration, chaoete mindwarps.

Thanks for the addition @medhasree, and thank you @mayavanavihariniharini for the Kathakali reference. You learn something new everyday.
Both Krishna and Maa Kali, respectively named Shyam and Shyama, face this issue where the artwork sees them in this vibrant shade of blue, a darker version of the sky on a lovely autumn day.
A direct translation when put in Google results in the word Kala [(of) dark skin], but look around and you will find the word blue-black. As @medhasree puts it, the word is supposedly used to describe healthy, glowing dark skin (and I would ask you to scroll up to my comment about there being a cool undertone that gives a reason for the word 'blue') and it is used to PRAISE the dark skin, to APPRECIATE it. I used to envy that particular teacher for her glowing skin.
But, artists use these lovely adjectives, the words of appreciation, and use it as an excuse to lean completely into the word 'blue' and use it everywhere, so that there is a very small amount of artwork where these Deities are portrayed as dark skinned. This blue phenomenon is so popular, that, and this I have seen mostly with Krishna (or Vishnu), we often see a very soft, light blue or a purplish glow skin tone. I have seen cartoons where the shade of blue is very, VERY light, and all of that happens because we took the word blue out of blue-black, and ran from there.
And, because this blue skin is almost synonymous to Krishna, we see lots of portrayals (in TV and movies, to name some mediums) where Krishna has normal, fair skin tones. Because, slowly but surely, we have move past the picture of a dark skinned person. We think of Krishna and an image in blue pops up in our mind, and hey, a human don't have that skin tone and an actor is not and should not wear that much paint. Which, okay, that is a very, VERY reasonable argument.
But there is a solution, because, hey, HEY, KRISHNA DOESN'T NEED TO BE BLUE! HE IS A DARK SKINNED PERSON? THEY EXIST!!!
And yes, out of all the portrayals I have seen so far, Nitish Bhardwaj was the one who was NOT super fair. (BRC also tried to show Draupadi as a dark skinned person, in the initial episodes, but later they didn't add that makeup and although that's not much, with the other Draupadis I have seen, it was an attempt.) They didn't show Arjun as having dark skin, but again, none of the popular portrayals do, and maybe it is the coloring of the show, or my personal bias for the actor, the actor didn't look super fair compared to the others who have essayed the role.
My main issue with Star Mahabharata, even before I saw the program (and noped out of it within minutes of opening the first episode), was that all of the actors were super fair. SRJ and Pooja Sharma were so fair, even Shaheer was really fair. And let's not talk about the disastrous SPK, I refuse to call that one Mahabharata (although this one, too, held up the tradition. Yay them!) and Radha Krishnan show (this actor is probably the fairest of them all?)
And this is such an important issue, because it shows where we take the slightest mention of the word blue, and use it to move away from the dark skin aspect. Creative liberty is all nice and good, and I am not demanding that we stop painting them blue, but let's not forget that they are, in fact, DARK SKINNED HUMANS AND DEITIES and IGNORING THAT IS A FORM OF COLORISM.
And however unintentional, colorism is not good. We need to address the issue, and we need to do something about it. We can paint them however we like, but let's not move away from the reality.
Also, I can't believe none of us addressed this in our post, but why is Shiv painted as blue? Most of the source material, if they describe his skin tone instead of the layer of Bhasm that coats his skin, depicts him as fair-skinned, no? I mean, his actual skin color has less mention because he is almost always depicted as covered in Bibhuti (or Bhasm), then why this trend to paint him blue? I have never heard any adjective or any name that would hint at a story where he is blue-skinned (except his throat, which pulsates blue because of Vish/Garal), so please, if you know the reasoning or story behind this, tell me. I love to learn about our Mythological figures. Especially Shiv.
Is it a reference to Hari-Har atma? Or something like by painting him blue, we associate a color to the DEITIES, like Vishnu, Shiv, Devi Kali in an attempt to distract us from questioning the hidden colorism? Shaon stop your theories.
You know it really pisses me off that Krishn, Ram, Vishnu, and Shiv (and probably others) are showed having blue skin like. Why? Why would a god or a deity or a reincarnated version of God have blue skin? They are Dark Skinned. Not Blue. It seriously annoys me that people substitute blue skin for dark skin because apparently gods don’t look good with dark skin???? Because they don’t match your aesthetic??? They’re GODS. Literal Gods. Krishn was said to be as dark as a rain filled cloud. Their literal name means Dark. And you showed them having blue skin. Honestly.

BSLK003 - DsorDNE “Tristi di Rabbia”, reissue on 12″ plus two remixes by Phase Fatale and Unhuman. Artwork by Silent Servant.
Out on July, 17th 2017 via ready made distribution.
Blacksilk proudly announces its third release, the second on vinyl, reissuing a selection of tracks from DsorDNE, experimental electronic band active in Turin during the 80’s and early 90’s. Thanks to the proactive and collaborative spirit of Marco Milanesio, band’s founder and author of most of the songs, deserved and proper attention is finally given to three stunning original masterpieces of dusky, heavily post-punk influenced tracks veined with some sort of industrial aftertaste. These songs have been selected from a span of works, mostly autoproduced, that DsorDNE released in the years of activity on various labels (primarily the related HAX Records) or fanzines of the thriving Italian underground scene of the time, which provided the perfect environment to experiment while representing the dull, grey and nihilist reality of the already post-industrial Turin of the mid-80’s.
“Tristi di Rabbia” (Sad of Anger), title taken from the almost madrigalic song opening the record, is completed with the electronic punk of “Love is my Eversion” (that will meet the taste of fans of SPK et similia) and “Guardami”, melodic slow industrial gem.
On the B side are featured two contemporary reworks of other original songs: “Aria” remixed by Phase Fatale, gloomy dancefloor-friendly track that emphasises the vocal abstract games of the original bringing the song to a new rhythmic dimension. and “Rimani”, remixed by the emerging artist Unhuman, who deconstructs the dark ballad achieving the result of a brilliantly crafted lo-fi EBM banger.
The artwork is curated by Silent Servant, that visually caged a picture from an unnamed Orthodox icon taken at the National Museum of Art in Bucharest reprocessing it in his own distinctive macabre-surrealist style, already appreciated in the numerous visual works for the Jealous God’s catalogue and still delivering the shock of the new.

Friend Code.
When it comes to communication, I am not the greatest at expressing myself or telling others how I feel. I get worried about what people think - what I’m going to say may be embarrassing or trivial. I do harp on that I worry about what others think of me I think it’s important for me to clarify... that I do care but I’m not consistently always thinking about it . This blog is my forum to talk about those moments and time. To step back and look into it and scope the whole perspective of those involved and not just thinking about myself! So let me be clear I have strengths and I have my weaknesses and for me, they are pretty black and white (I will be posting these soon - with a feature of friends insights)
I just don’t get how I can be completely open about some things but completely shut off about others. I like to play the cool guy with exciting and adventurous stories who comes across as laid back yet i do caught up on little things and hate feeling certain feelings - it can spiral me down into a hole which makes me feel worse! Part of my issue is that with certain friendships and relationships, I have had, I set expectations of how I expect people to act, react or treat me and get taken back when it doesn’t go to plan - I almost struggle to explain it in writing what my thought process is or how it makes me feel though I have summarised it the best I can.
In March, I was back in my homeland, when I got back to Australia, one of my best mates was distant and hadn’t been in touch. I could sense that she was off but I also was too. I felt a bit off about a few things that took place and they were putting me out of place and I guess I expected things to be a certain way and they weren’t. I was looking at situations one-sided and getting wrapped up in expectations and emotions. We ended up having an hour phone chat to talk about our thoughts, feelings and emotions toward another and although best mates we had never opened up like that before. It was confronting but so refreshing.
To set the back story. It played out in two stages.
Stage 1:
A group of my girls went to dinner, SP was running late due to traffic and the rest of the girls were already seated at the table. I was super excited to see her and we give each other a big hug. As soon as she got there, my expectations kick in, expecting that she would ask me how my day was, or how I was going .... but she started a conversation over me and I could feel myself falling into a funk’
(I would describe my ‘funks’ as me being quiet, reserved, distant, non-communicative, cold, short, sometimes snappy. I let off a grumpy fine. That vibe when you ask your partner if they are ok and they say ‘im fine’ but in there head thoughts, emotion and clocks are ticking over. )
Now my self-analysis of this situation
My expectation wasn’t met - I was self-absorbed and only thinking of number 1
She hadn’t seen the other girls in a couple of weeks ( and we talk every day)
Maybe I felt jealous that I didn’t get her undivided attention
I instantly closed up and felt myself going quiet and overthinking! In my head, I’m panicking and trying to self-assess which is harder at the time and in a moment. I whispered over and asked, “We are all good right ?!, I just want to double check for my own reassurance”. She confirmed “Yeah of course”.
*Back to normal*.
This is one of my biggest challenges I sometimes close off and wind up in this awkward funk and not sure how to address it at the time. I was pretty impressed with myself at dealing with it so fast. However, when SP closed these issues out over the phone the following week she told me how it made her feel. She said it makes her feel uncomfortable when I close off, she doesn't know how to act towards me without setting me off. “ I sometimes feel like I'm walking on eggshells around you”.I actually thought “Wow, you know what I’ve never thought how does that make others feel, or what they are thinking “. My funks can be unpredictable but it was a bit of an eye opener really. I never have stopped to think about how anyone else is feeling while I’m funking and how they feeling. Though it’s sometimes really hard for me to get out of it. Not all my friends have experienced this side of Sam and it probably would be something they wouldn’t imagine I would get like.
Stage 2:
We had a party at our friend's house for St Paddy’s. I have no issues partying while being sober however if I feel left out or experience any emotion it’s not hidden with alcohol and I have to deal with it. On this particular night, I had felt the feeling of being “left out” - over something so small I didn’t know how to address it. SPK took a photo with our friend LH and I felt excluded because she didn’t want one with me. I couldn’t understand why! ( But I also didn’t ask). The next day after, SP posted the photo of her and LH to Instagram and I noticed SP never posts pictures with me. My instant thought process; Is she embarrassed by me, Am I not good enough, is it because of how I look? Silly right and so sad my mind went straight to that thought process ( Will delve into that another day). I did mention this in our discussion and she confirmed... I'm silly. I am usually the one posting photos and didn't even cross her mind.
I later found out that I had made a comment while playing a drinking game which had made SP a bit upset with me. It was a game where you built a word with each player saying a letter. We had already spelt “S-A-M”. LH directed SP with the next letter “What did you go to today”, thinking the sample sale that they had been too. She was trying to give her the letter “P”. I said, “What is something you smoke”. I knew immediately it was the most foolish thing to say in a group of friends. It’s so common for people to be smoking P back home these days and I know that a few people in that house that night had experimented. It was unfair of me to make the comment and it made her immediately feel awkward. I didn’t even think.
When SP and I addressed these issues she felt like I was singling her out. The comment was uncalled for but I would have made it without thinking to anyone there. She had a point, I do single her out and she even confronted me. “What makes you act this way”. She said that I wouldn’t treat anyone else like that from the group. I couldn’t immediately answer on it because it’s true I do single out my best mates more. Jealousy? Possession? Attention? Expectations? I’m still trying to work on this. I remember having a meltdown as my best friend SG, was hanging out with another girl and not giving me any attention while I was with my then boyfriend. I recall him saying that he wanted me to care about him the way I cared about my friend which I didn’t’ ...until he pulled away.
SP and I have been friends since high school, we got closer when we left school and she has been there for me through ALOT. She even flew over to Sydney to spend a weekend with me when I was going through a really rough patch. She is someone I can tell anything to without getting judged. She is always so truly supportive. We have never taken the time to discuss each others feeling before, primarily hers. I never had asked. “How does it make you feel”. We are both so different in character. I learnt so much about this conversation and her being open and upfront about her feelings! I think it made me feel better as it made me deal with other situations better and almost resolved any feelings of jealousy immediately as there’s no reason to feel that way! Jealously is how you lose friends and lovers ... not keep them.
The conversation was initially confronting but also just what I needed to hear. I can be so oblivious and stuck in a certain behaviour. I self-reflect were I can and identify triggers and those pinch points. I also appreciate it when someone points it out to me as well. It's just like a workplace setting - How are you to improve and get better if you don’t do a self-assessment and get constructive feedback?. I'm truly blessed to have this chick in my life. We have gone through some little fights here and there but it only makes us stronger individuals and we also learn for next time.

@alcoveoflove replied to your post “@alcoveoflove replied to your photo yeah about...”
oh my god i'm so sorry i promise i didn't mean anything weird or uncomfortable. sorry again
Yeah, okay, okay, peace. It’s all right. I figured you were new to Tumblr. But I (like all fanfic writers/graphic makers) do appreciate just... proper, honest interactions rather than likespams or something. So now you know.
But it’s really hard for me to read text that’s not properly capitalised (plus, I can’t read emoji on desktop so I don’t know what you’re saying with those either), so if you want to communicate with me at any length, I’d have to ask you to not do that. I know that’s something all the kids today are doing, but I’ve got hyperlexia (with full comprehension), and every time something’s spelled/capitalised/punctuated etc. in a non-standard way, or squashed into small size or abbreviated to txt spk or something, it’s painful for me to go through because I take in text at such a high speed and have no control over it. It’s like speed bumps on roads, or at worst, actual brick walls in the middle of highways--now imagine you’re driving through such a road at a Formula 1 car speed. It’s no longer driving but crash, crash, boom, bang, guts and splatter and pain. Or like every word’s interrupted by a sound that’s like forks on a plate or nails on a blackboard--it’s physically painful sometimes. I don’t know if dyslexics have the same thing, but that’s at least how it works out if your language centres are overdeveloped. One of those superpowers of suck--I can write elaborate, floridly poetic fic and speak five languages, but something seemingly small like that ties my brain into knots and creates a negative association with the person sending it towards me (like flinching away from them).
JSYK. I try not to go on about all this “waah, I’m triggered by this and triggered by that” stuff on here like everyone on here does (life’s too short), but it’s worth mentioning sometimes because it throws such a huge spanner into interpersonal communications. It’s not me being an arsehole grammar Nazi, but a neurological thing I can’t help any more than I could help an allergy. So if I ask someone to do that it’s not me coming down from on high with thunder and lightning bolts or whatever; more like “ow, can you turn that down, it hurts?”
But anyway. I do genuinely appreciate proper interactions and things. I know a hell of a lot of readers think they haven’t got anything interesting to say, but I doubt *any* fanficcer expects some sort of Wildean wit or highbrow academic conversations from commenters--I don’t really think there is such a thing as some sort of threshold of smartness or interestingness or whatever to a fanfic comment. Even a small comment like “I enjoyed this!” or “Hey, that was hot. Keep up the good work” can make a fanficcer’s day. Especially if they’re in a small fandom where hardly anyone ever interacts with them at all. (Last year I wrote 17 fics and ten of them got *no comments whatsoever.* Even if some of them had *thousands* of readers. Imagine how fun that was?) If there should be a proud, popular BNF person somewhere who’d be all sneering at some “plebs” and thinking they aren’t worthy to comment on their precious fics... well, they can frankly fuck off.
Trust me, even that seemingly dumb “Nice fic!” or “Unf!” is worth its weight in gold. I generally tend to... fucking drown people in cocktails and roses if they ever pipe up!
#alcoveoflove#of course now i'm making myself seem like a big scary formidable bnf bitch right here aren't i#well you can imagine the fucking hyperlexia thing pisses me off exactly for that reason#but it's impossible for me to talk to someone if their output reads like so much noise#but really#i do mean it#genuine interactions are AWESOME and you should never ever be ashamed of them#and i mean this at everyone not just the op#like seriously do you want to feel loved and appreciated? come say 'unf' at a fic of mine#like if we were in a bar i'd be buying you ten drinks#that's the level at which i value rare fandom comments#like... if you feel unworthy and dull and like you can't leave good comments#this might actually be a good chance for you to make yourself feel better#because small fandom writers are the sorts who'll be especially glad for anything and everything#so they'll... fucking be garlanding you and parading you around the streets#not exaggerating#also i'm replying to this publicly because i don't want to get into conversations with people and tumblr only allows chatty things now#and if i send someone an ask there's a risk they'll publish it and i don't want that either#so every means by which i could say this would be too stressful and public anyway#so i'm trying to just say it as politely as possible through this (without the intent of dragging anyone)#*sigh* i know it'll still make me look like a bitch no matter how nicely i say it bc the world's shitty like that
