Spiderverse really said "Your grief was not necessary. It served no purpose. It did not make you better or kinder or wiser. It did not make the world better. You did not need to suffer to do good. You should never have had to suffer the way you did. Grief is so strong and so painful that you had to justify it to yourself in order to accept it. You convinced yourself you are better because of it. That the good things you do are because of your grief, instead of in spite of it. You needed to believe it in order to move past the pain. But the moment you believe your suffering was necessary, you begin to believe the suffering of others is necessary. And when you believe the suffering of others is necessary, you begin to be complicit in it and eventually begin actively and purposefully causing it."
and it was so real for that.

sword af was so enjoyable, i immediately restarted the ep to listen to it again! while i am super bummed about not having a vid (this group arguably has the best facial reactions out of everyone at smosh), the sound design really added to the experience.
i hope the hoh / deaf community, or people who would prefer captions, are able to interact with the podcast soon

So... Skybound Transformers #7. Now that I've had a night to percolate over the bits I liked? More than any other continuity? I'm really wanting to explore Skybound Soundwave/Thundercracker. Just how did Soundwave win him over from loyalty to Starscream? What did he do? Was it really just TC being more loyal to the Decepticon way than he is Starscream? 🤔 (I do look forward to TC eventually learning what went down with Skywarp—who is not nearly as dead as previous issues would have you believe.)
Also, please please please let the Constructicons have separate personalities.
Also also, still no sight of any favorite Autobots.

I'm not sure if you're accepting requests at this time, but if you're feeling up to it as this is an idea going around it seems:
Ruby Ascends in the Ever After. But now she is nothing but her purpose to save Remnant, if it/or someone does not contribute to that goal, then she doesn't care about it, just complete apathy for anything other than her purpose.
How would WBY take this?
(Getting this out before the new episode so I dont lose what I want to do with this. Might not be completely accurate, but you did ask for this.)
Ruby came back but everything was wrong.
The first to notice was Yang. It should’ve been more clear to her that something was off, Ruby came back slightly older, hair longer and more like Summer’s, but Crescent Rose was still on her back and she was still Ruby. What really made her realize she wasnt the right Ruby was her smile. It was empty, no longer hiding pain, no longer trying to radiate optimism. It was forced, almost as if she didnt care beyond her single minded mission to get back to Remnant.
Blake was the next to realize something wasnt right about Ruby. No longer did the huntress seem to care about the issues they passed, pushing Jaune away and only ever heading through the Ever After to reach the tree. But what really struck that something was wrong was how she treated the Curious Cat. It became clear that she treated the cat differently to reach the tree, almost as if she didnt care about anyone else or anything else unless it led everyone back to Remnant.
Weiss realized it once she tried to apologize and Ruby blew her off. Her heart broke as she tried to make things right with her friend, only to be pushed aside as if what happened never mattered. Words that were said still lingering in her mind, still upset at herself for not seeing the pain that Ruby was in and only focusing on her own. Words left unsaid that she desperately wanted Ruby to know, but this Ruby didnt want to hear.
Jaune was the last to realize what was wrong, figuring that Ruby was still upset with him. When Neo attacked again, he realized it wasnt the same Ruby he knew. The Ruby he watched fight through Neo’s images didnt seem to care about what came to the end of her scythe, instead slicing through anything that got in its way. Allies, enemies, plants and trees, Ruby had no regard to anything that had gottten in her way.
Once they were all back to Remnant after going through the tree, they figured Ruby would be herself again. Yang kept an eye on Ruby while Blake and Weiss did what they could to help share the burden that Ruby carried, trying to give gentle reminders that they were there for her.
But none of that seemed to matter to Ruby.
Yang finally had enough once they reached Vacuo and shoved Ruby against the wall of a building. “What’s going on with you?” she asked. “I know you’re not feeling great about everything that happened, but you’ve changed. What happened to you?”
“I found a new purpose,” Ruby said, her voice steady and calm but still devoid of the optimism it usually had. “I know what I need to do to make sure Remnant is safe, how to stop Salem. I can finally be the hero like in all the fairytales.”
“...you ascended, didnt you?” Yang pulled back as all the pieces finally started to make sense. The way Ruby treated anything in her way that wasnt allowing them to reach Remnant. The way she fought as if time was being wasted, the way she moved through every obstacle as if it was just another annoyance in the way. “Rubes, you didnt need to-”
“But I wanted to, Yang. Ruby couldnt… I couldnt be the hero that needs to stop Salem. So, now I am.”
“But you’re not… you. At least, not anymore.”
“I could never be me if it meant stopping Salem.” Ruby let out a soft sigh, a little emotion starting to slip through the cracks of the mask she continued to wear. “Ruby was just a shadow of Summer, of the heroes of fairytales and the stories of how huntresses are supposed to be the ones to keep everyone safe. So, instead, I’m now Ruby Rose, guardian of Remnant. A new person with a new purpose to keep everyone safe.” She paused and took a breath as her body shook to get her back on track. “And right now, that means we need to safeguard the relic and then take the fight to Salem. We’ll find where she’s at and I’ll stop her.”
Yang could only watch as Ruby started to walk away, her heart breaking as she watched her sister continue forward. She knew none of this was right, that the Ruby she had known as a sister was gone and replaced with a different Ruby from the Ever After, a Ruby who would only keep going until her purpose was fulfilled or until she died trying.
“Is everything okay with her?” Weiss asked, arm held to her chest.
“She… ascended.”
Weiss looked down at the ground and wiped a tear from her eyes. “Of… of course she did. After everything we did, after everything she said… of course she ascended.”
Yang slowly reached out to Weiss and put a hand on her shoulder. “We’ll get her back-”
“But we wont be able to, will we?” Weiss put up a weak smile as she tried to hide the pain in her heart. “She’ll stop Salem and then… what happens? Will she be pulled back to the Ever After for a new purpose? Will her purpose carry her away somewhere else? Its… Its going to be problem after problem for her to fix to help save Remnant, she’s never going to be back.”
“We’ll talk to Ozpin and find a way to get her back. Back to herself.”
Blake finally spoke up, ears folded. “And we need to prepare for the idea that we cant get her back. At least, not fully. And even if Ozpin does know how to get her back, does that mean we’ll have to go back to the Ever After?”
“I… I dont know…” Yang sighed, eyes still glued to Ruby as she watched her sister speak with Headmaster Theodore about the relic’s defenses. “But we’ll get her back. Even if it means giving everything up.”
—--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ruby panted as the dust settled, scythe blade broken next to her as her legs gave out. It had been a long shot, but she had managed to trap Salem in the space the relic vaults inhabited, finally freeing Remnant from her. A sense of serenity washed over her, quickly interrupted by Weiss’s voice.
“Ruby? Ruby!” Weiss called out. “Ruby!”
“I’m… still here…” Ruby said, voice weak as she felt her body start to give out. Her arms felt like they weighed her down, her chest pounded as her heart throbbed. “I… I did it. I saved Remnant.”
“What… did you do? I… I dont see her.”
“I trapped her in the space where the relics were kept.” Ruby smiled a bit. “She wont be coming back.”
Weiss tried to help Ruby up, her hand going right through her. Her arm shook as she desperately tried to pick her friend up, each attempt ending up as the same as the last. “Ruby? What… what’s going on?”
“I’m… done.” Ruby fell back as her voice started to become emotionless, her body slowly dissolving into rose petals as she watched a tree start to grow in front of her. “I need a new purpose, but the tree cant give me one.”
“But Remnant isnt saved yet!” Weiss started to try to gather the rose petals as they broke off Ruby and slowly started to disappear, her fingers digging into the dust left from the grimm. “We still have to deal with the relics. A-and then the huntsmen academies! You heard Cinder, everything is still broken and its going to take years for us to get things right! And then there’s the faunus! We can help Blake and Yang-”
“But that wasnt my purpose.” A smile crossed Ruby’s lips as she closed her eyes. “Maybe one day I’ll make it back to the Ever After and gain a new purpose. But for now, Ruby’s purpose to save Remnant from Salem is finished. She’s never coming back and I have no reason to stay.”
“Of course you do Ruby!” Weiss slammed her hand down onto Ruby’s chest, freezing as her partner disappeared into a storm of petals that disappeared in the light. Her eyes widened as her arms shook, a few words still on her tongue. Words she had wanted to say for months but never had the right time to say it. Instead, she slowly picked herself up, holding back the tears that so desperately wanted to leave her.
Yang finally made her way to Weiss, panting as she leaned against the doorway. “Weiss? Did you find her?”
Weiss looked silently up at Yang, and then back to the broken blade of Crescent Rose. Her heart finally broke as her legs gave out and tears started to flood out.
Yang made her way to Weiss to help comfort her, pausing when she saw the broken blade and no Ruby in sight. “She’s… gone, isnt she?”
Weiss nodded between sobs and pressed into Yang.
“Lets get out of here,” Yang said as she picked Weiss up and helped her walk. “We’ll figure out what to do next.”

I went into The Owl House apprehensively. It's not my aesthetic. Spooky things make me uncomfortable, and checking things out because other people like them doesn't always work out in my favor.
It's not over yet, but I'm pretty sure now that it's a masterpiece.
First of all: three episodes for the entirety of the third season is kind of insane. I think Disney wanted to hamstring the project, or they just didn't care and gave the creators this so they would shut up and go away.
A lot of shows feel rushed when this happens. Everyone is scrambling to cram everything they wanted to convey into a space that isn't big enough for it, and it's obvious in the final product.
The Owl House managed to make it feel natural.
They used a montage to show the main group's development in the human world, which felt really smart instead of contrived. I'm not entirely sure why. Maybe it's because I know about their time constraints. Maybe it's because the characters interact in the same way they do during speaking scenes.
Either way, this is something could have taken up multiple episodes. Luz spent quite a bit of time just palling about the Boiling Isles. I'm betting that they wanted to do more with it, and could have given us some domestic fluff if they'd had, you know, a normal amount of air time.
Seriously, 3 episodes for an entire season is not normal. Fuck Disney.
Then they do it again: they streamline Phillip's backstory by making it a "scary story" during a hayride. It's possible that this was just the plan all along, because it really fits with the show's motif, but that festival could have been an episode all by itself.
You know, if things were normal for the producers.
They managed to fit a ton into one episode, and it didn't feel forced at all. Hunter, Luz, and Mama Noceda all had personal plotlines, and they still advanced the main story by several miles.
Then there's the character dynamics. This came first, I just--THREE. EPISODES.
(I don't think anyone should ever get over this, Disney just about spit in the creators' faces. Okay, so I don't work in the industry at all. Still! I know how much goes into this! One of the reasons a lot of fans prefer TV shows over movies is that there's more time to explore concepts! And they took away that time!)
Anyway.
This series is a prime example of the characters having lives outside each other. They have things to return to that aren't related to their friends at all.
Especially Amity: she could have been reduced to the supportive girlfriend, and I do think the brawl episode felt a little bit rushed and/or forced. But overall?
She doesn't just worry about Luz. She goes out of her way to help her family, even when they're cruel to her. Her friends help, and Luz is just as supportive of her as she is of Luz.
Even in their personal interactions, they're still... themselves. They bring their own personal insecurities and desires into the relationship. It's not just about them being together, it's about who they are as people and how that affects their relationship.
In my opinion, this is the example that others should look to when they want to write similar character dynamics.
This is the kind of story that makes stories exciting again.

So the only way that Endwalker ends in my head is if the WoL takes Deryk's place. It concludes the god's stories, it gives more impact to the choice the gods made, and it kind of concludes Azem's story. In my head, the WoL disperses all the aether from all the things he's overcome and then he's suddenly back in Elpis and Venat welcomes Azem back and asks him how his travels have been.
Dawntrail is the next WoL starting his story as one of those greatly affected by the dispersal of aether back into the world. The Echo is literally memories from the WoL and olds content is simply remembering those past adventures to draw on for future encounters.

Timeless Loyalty
Spoilers: There are no spoilers for Quantumania, but if you haven't watched the Loki miniseries and don't know about Kang/The Conqueror/He Who Remains, you may want to skip this.
Triggers: Mentions of abuse/scarring/lost family
A/N: This was inspired by Quantumania and learning more about our new big bad. The idea was born as you have a person that can manipulate time and, of course, I thought of Cherry. This is a bit more of a vague outline of her, probably a variant as I see this as one of the many Kang variants. She's escaped Norman, but doesn't seem to be connected to the Starks and hasn't met Wong or Strange.
Right now, this is more of a one shot to get the plunny out of my head. This was how I used to write a lot of my ficlets, in first person, and I honestly miss it. I may need to do some more.
Anyhow, enjoy!
Disclaimer: I own nothing but Cherry and my own imagintion. This is for fun and everyone belongs to their original creators.
***
He surprised me.
I hadn't heard the bell above the door ring or even his footsteps. I hadn’t seen him in a long time. He used to come quite often looking for a kind word and something to eat. I figured since the Blip had ended he’d found his family and a home. There was no need to hang around FEAST any longer.
The building was empty and I was getting ready to close when he was suddenly there. I turned around, hearing my name.
He seemed taller, but maybe it was because he stood straighter, held himself with more presence than he had before. For a moment, I didn’t recognize his face before it shifted. A cold placid mask melting into something shy and uncertain. I did not recognize his clothing. Polished metal and gleaming green fabric. I’d never seen anything like it before. His posture changed, turning into that slightly hunched and submissive stance I knew much better.
“Do you remember me?” He asked softly and I realized I had gone still, frozen in place the moment I’d seen him. I nodded, swallowing hard past the tightness in my throat.
“Of course,” I said, breath thin as I bobbed my head. “It’s been a while…you’re doing better, I hope,”
That shy expression turned sharp and eager as he took a step forward. My heart skipped and I instinctively took a step back. “I am…so much better, it’s why I had to come see you. I had to repay you,”
“Repay me?” I repeated the words looking dumbfounded. “I…don’t understand,”
He could no doubt see the fear and anxiousness playing over my features. I wondered if he could hear the thunder of my heart. I was nothing in this world but a once snared rabbit that had outwitted her hunter. I lived my days plainly and choose anonymity and quiet to keep from the hunter’s gaze from me and yes…kindness.
I had been treated with such vitriol and hatred before escaping my captor, how could I choose anything but kindness? I feared going back, feared the hunter’s friends because he had them. I feared most people and worried they would hurt me again. The man in front of me stilled and I saw his expression change from sharp eagerness to that cool thoughtful mask as he straightened and pulled himself upright.
“You were kind to me without knowing me, without knowing what I could offer you, I don’t forget those who help me…” He said and extended his hand. “And my loyalty is timeless,”
My heart was in my throat. I didn’t often allow myself to touch people. I was scared of being close, being grabbed, being hurt…scared of how they could interpret such intimacy and trust as a touch. I was human though. I craved touch as much as I feared it and something about the man pulled me like a magnet. One step became two and then a third, the wounded rabbit hobbling to inspect to see if this was indeed safe or just another trap.
He waited though, waited with his outstretched hand as I warred within myself before tentatively slipping my fingers against his gloved palm. Strong fingers curled against my own and a moment stretched into eternity.
“You said…I helped you before knowing what you can offer…what can you offer?” I asked, my voice trembling on the edges, breathy and small. My chest felt so tight. I was waiting for the snare to come over my neck and choke me, but the bait had been too tempting. His hand was warm and solid as he held onto mine.
‘Time,” He said simply, as he turned his eyes to mine. “Time to use however you wish. I can take you back and give you all the time you lost,”
I thought of them immediately, my family gone forever in an accident that no one was punished for. An accident that everyone knew wasn't one but no one wanted to look into an impoverish immigrant's shop "exploding". An accident that tore me from my loved ones and set me on a path that changed my life forever. I was constantly searching for them in others and only finding pain. Could he do that? My heart lurched both in disbelief and hope. The man's hand tightened and I could feel my skin tingle,
“or I can cut out moments you never wished had happened," Something happened that I couldn't explain, a sensation that felt like the beating of a thousand butterfly wings as the air around us shimmered. I knew what had happened somehow, what he had done, but I didn't believe it until I pulled my hand from his and shoved the sleeve of my shirt up.
My four years of hell with a man named Norman Osborn had left me with scars. Most were in my mind, but he had left his mark on my skin as well. It had much to do with that fear of letting others near me. He made sure to leave the marks that wouldn't show to the public easily, but I knew as I ran my fingers against the back of my upper arm, under my bunched fabric at my shoulder to feel, not uneven tendrils of scar tissue, but smooth, flawless skin.
Tears gathered hot and bright in my eyes, stinging my vision as I hugged the now flawless shoulder closer to my own self. The man...man? Could he be a man? Someone who could perform these miracles? What was he? Stepped closer and gently took my chin in his hand, the cool expression creasing into one of strange, tender yearning. “I can give you all the time you need. You’ll create all the memories, all the dreams you’ve ever wished to accomplish because you will have all the time you need and nothing can ever touch you,”
I couldn't breathe. It didn't seem real. I wanted to wake up but I wanted to dream forever if that's what this was. It was everything and too much all at the same time.
"I don't know your name..." I said weakly, looking into the dark eyes of the man who held me. "and you don't...you don't have to do all this. I just thought..." I thought back to the man that visited FEAST in the past, a man who looked so sad and alone and broken. I couldn't help but be drawn to someone who looked like that, who reminded me of me when I would have given my last breath for a kind word, "you could use a friend,"
Quiet settled between us before the hand at my chin moved to push my hair away from my face, fingertips brushing over my skin and set my nerves tingling, "I did..." He murmured, eyes turning more and more liquid, and less like the cool aloof mask he held before. "I did need a friend and you were it. I won't forget it. I told you, my loyalty is timeless. Think on my offer..." Leaning forward, he pressed a soft kiss to my brow and I felt the itching sensation of time being redone, my scars returning, things returning to the present. "You can be whatever you choose, your path whatever you want, and I will make it so,"
He stepped away, my lungs empty and breathless, and he gave me that small, shy awkward smile I knew so well, "My name is Kang. Remember it," and he left, clothing melting from the strange armor into a green sweater and dark slacks, walking out the door, but I could still feel the warmth of his lips on my brow and remember the satin feel of my flawless skin which was now rescarred. It only took a moment's hesitation before my feet were flying after him, the clattering jangling noise of the door and its bell silvery in my wake.

If the writers don’t take the opportunity to use Alex’s ‘I would burn the entire world down first.’ from season 3 as a parallel to Michael finding out he’s in danger in season 4, imma be so disappointed and need some fix writers to do their thing.
Michael: *finds out Alex is in trouble*
Michael: *runs off like a man on a mission*
Other Character: What are you going to do?
Michael: *sad worried mad puppy dog eyes*
Michael: I’m going to burn the entire world down.
