that moment when your complex antagonist is starting to make too much sense so you twist the narrative or make them do something truly vile out of nowhere, so that the audience doesn't begin questioning your morals.

Well, after seeing Tippen use this reference for her pretty awesome fanart, I went to check it out and considered it...
Then a dear reader and friend pretty much begged me to do it, so 😂 here it is

i know it's super self-indulgent and highly unlikely to have even crossed most people's minds, but 'SW being a good mom' AU(s)...
i dunno, i know SW is a good villain in the OG and one of the better written characters in the reboot, but i just really like the idea of her being a good mother in an environment not built for people like that.
she'd still be morally grey, i think, but she would have her family in mind first.
( gonna be totally honest and say i don't really care one way or the other if Catra would be a better person in an AU ( or AUs ) like this, but it's more likely than her ending up being a terrible person, i guess. i'm mainly thinking of SW and Adora here. )
and i like the "monster & child" trope, soooo...
SW probably being a bad person, but a good mother >>>

I know this is a meme, and it's hecking funny, but I also have to note that Glimmer's case is the fourth time Shadow Weaver has used a motherly role over a young woman to manipulate her. This is the first time Glimmer is seeing how that has affected and is affecting SW's victims other than herself. Weaver is slipping, and it's showing. It's no wonder that Glimmer was willing to eventually forgive Catra and form a friendship (and possibly more) with her after seeing this. Also, holy shit this scene is heartbreaking. Catra is crying out about all the wicked things Shadow Weaver has done, "and now *you* get to be the good guy?" (Might have misremembered the line) Just... wow. Catra, you're so right. This scene, especially, I feel, is a litmus test for each person's empathy and willingness to forgive. How can you hate Catra after this scene? When it's so painfully clear that she's right about Shadow Weaver and how the rebellion is being corrupted?
Anyway. I'll stop rambling lol

This has got to be one of the worst takes I’ve ever seen. Putting aside the fact that it completely demeans shows made for a younger target audience and those who watch it when those shows discuss many similar topics with impressive nuance just with happy endings, you’re telling me you looked at Arcane and didn’t see SPOP, like at all??
You’re telling me you looked at Vi and Jinx and didn’t see Adora and Catra.
You’re telling me you looked at Caitlyn and didn’t see Glimmer
You’re telling me you looked at Jayce and didn’t see Scorpia
You’re telling me you looked at Viktor and didn’t see Entrapta
You’re telling me you looked at Silco and didn’t see Shadow Weaver
You’re telling me you looked at Ambessa and didn’t see Hordak/Horde Prime
You’re telling me you looked at Mel and didn’t see Perfuma
You’re telling me you looked at Ekko and didn’t see Mermista
Okay, if you say so.
If the only comparisons you can make to Arcane is animated children’s shows like She-Ra and Steven Universe… I’m sorry but you’re too immature and young to be watching Arcane. Come back after you’ve watched Blue Eye Samurai, Breaking Bad, The Sopranos, or Scavengers Reign.
