Shah Rukh Khan Admitted To Ahmedabad Hospital Due To Heat Stroke

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has been admitted to a hospital in Ahmedabad after suffering a heat stroke. The actor was in Ahmedabad to watch the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between his Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad on Tuesday.

"The actor was suffering from dehydration amid a high temperature of 45-degree Celcius in Ahmedabad. He is under medical observation although his health is stable. Security has been tightened around the hospital," news agency IANS reported, quoting sources.

The actor's dear friend and actress Juhi Chawla visited the actor at the hospital. An official statement from the hospital is expected soon, news agency IANS reported.

Shah Rukh Khan, co-owner of IPL team Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), celebrated the team's triumph on Tuesday night with a lap of honour at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Accompanied by his children, Suhana Khan and AbRam Khan, Shah Rukh Khan greeted the audience following KKR's impressive win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which secured their place in the IPL 2024 finals. The official Instagram pages of KKR and the Indian Premier League (IPL) shared pictures and videos of the family's celebratory walk. Chak De and SRK

(A couple of months ago, for the 15th anniversary of Chak De, I wrote this article for a publication. It was commissioned, edited and published, but it was taken down the same day. The editor told me it was “technical glitch” but now, it’s been 2.5 months and the glitch hasn’t been sorted. In the meantime, I’ve heard of other writers’ work being taken down from that site if it spoke about minority oppression.). 

When I first watched Chak De! India 15 years ago, one of the things that instinctively bothered me, though I was too young to articulate it then, was that when Kabir Khan and his mother leave their home, amidst the accusation of being a ‘gaddar’, no neighbour or friend is standing up for them. Is there no one in their mohalla who they were friends with, I wondered? Wouldn’t someone miss them? And wouldn’t they silently, if not publicly, ask the others to be more kind? 

Fifteen years later, I know the answer. They wouldn’t. We wouldn’t. 

As I sit down to write this, the news coming in from everywhere is proof that nothing much has changed in the last 15 years. Things only seem to have become worse. I read on Twitter that the Indian Women’s hockey team has lost the Commonwealth Games Semi-Finals to Australia 3-0 in a penalty shootout. Fifteen years on, Indian women’s hockey is notoriously neglected. Gender discrimination is rampant. And, of course, Muslims are still perceived as enemies of the state. 

No one knows this better than Shah Rukh Khan. 

Chak De! India was a story of the quintessential underdog triumph. It wasn’t just the triumph of a women’s team over the dismal conditions and mentality of families, media, and fans. It was as much (if not more) the triumph of their Muslim coach in his attempt to prove his patriotism. 

Chak De has achieved cult status in the country. There are still memes referencing 70 minutes of crucial and intense time. The title song became a national sports anthem, and the dialogues are a part of everyday life. The brawl scene in Mcdonald's became an example of implicit brand placements, mentioned in B-schools and quizzes. “Ja Dikha de apne launde ko” was a mantra of female solidarity. There’s a lot to celebrate about Chak De and the impact it has had on our pop culture over the decade and a half. A sports film par excellence, it doesn’t lose its thrill even with multiple rewatchings. And, of course, Shah Rukh is gorgeous. 

It also marks one of the first times he truly embraced his Muslim identity on screen. (Sure, he played a Muslim in Hey Ram, but that never captured people’s imagination the way Chak De did). In Chak de, the Muslim identity is a crucial part of the plot, and it is emphasized with the references to his name, his betrayal, and his religious/inspirational chants. SRK goes on to play the Muslim protagonist in multiple films after this — My Name is Khan, Dear Zindagi, Raees, and the upcoming Pathan. 

In 2017, journalist Rana Ayub said about SRK in an article on NDTV, “In a country where it is rare to find a Muslim or a Christian character as the lead in films, with minorities usually reduced to caricatures and stereotypes, the fact that the biggest star plays a Muslim in three simultaneous films (Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, Dear Zindagi, Raees) is a strong message to a country, a rebellion that needs to be noticed and lauded.” 

This week, we have another movie releasing by two superstars: one a Muslim man, one married to a Muslim man, with children named after rulers who happen to be Muslim- Taimur and Jehangir. Calls to boycott the movie grow louder, the posters and WhatsApp messages about the same more and more disgusting. Aamir Khan has declared that he loves India. Of course, we need to wear our patriotism on our sleeves. Whether it is with a birth certificate or with the shouting of slogans, with the display of the National Flag or standing up in the movie hall when the anthem is played, we are all being asked to prove our patriotism again and again and again. No one more than Muslims in India. 

If you are a privileged Muslim actor in India, you can continue making movies worth 100 crores that will face threats of boycott, and maybe your family members will end up in jail for months on flimsy charges. For a regular ordinary Muslim person, you might get lynched if you are suspected of eating a certain kind of meat. 

In the final scenes of Chak De! India, the team overcomes all kinds of external and internal challenges to defeat the favourites, Australia, and win the tournament. Yet, it is not just the journey of the women who have faced gender stereotypes, family pressure, anger issues, and race and language discrimination. It is as much a journey of their Muslim coach, who will finally make it back ‘home’ where he was labeled a traitor and forced to leave. It is a grim picture that Chak De presents. That nothing will ever be enough to get the kind of acceptance and belonging all citizens of this country should feel. Maybe if you do something as grand as winning a world cup, you might be spared for a few days.

Opening the tap, she gently rubbed her arms with water trying to clean the wounds. She slowly looked up at the mirror and couldn't help but laugh at her disheveled state. Here stood Aadvika Yadav, the rising star of bollywood, known internationally for her beauty and emotional range of acting. In her mere five years of acting, she has worked with the likes of Shah Rukh Khan, became the audience's favorite for her simple way of living and no-nonsensical attitude, often called as 'princess of bollywood' and here stood the princess, who was struggling to even make it past a day. 

Her phone buzzed, a message from SRK's team regarding the time and details of the match. Kolkata Knight Riders, a team co-owned by SRK, was having a match with Mumbai Indians in Eden Garden. He wanted everyone to go to match with him as he saw it as a way of promoting their upcoming movie, Jawaan. Aadvika being herself, refused but after a lot of insisting from SRK, she agreed. She was supposed to reach the hotel, near the stadium by ten in the morning. She looked at her arms again.

Shubman slammed his phone on the coffee table kept in his balcony. He was annoyed by even the thought of these articles. Is this all media saw about him? Why can't they write about the his batting skills or even criticize him about it? 

'This is what you get for dating celebrities so early in your career.' his mind said. He knew it was wrong to get linked up in a relationship with Sara so early in his career but the other boys of his age did the same thing as well so was he wrong?

'Because you were spotted with models and then Sara broke up with you. Now you are a cricketer who was dumped and is slowly losing his form.' his mind reminded.

Shubman let out an scoffed at his own condition. He looked back at his bedroom through the glass mirror.  He could see the girl, who was barely covered by his bedsheets stirring in her sleep. He thought of ways to smuggle her out of his room in the morning without letting his seniors know. 

'What was her name?' he thought. He pondered over it for a bit but then gave up, it's not like he has ever remembered the name of girls he has slept with. He looked at the time. It's 2:30 A.M. He took one last look at the city and then proceeded back to his room, not knowing what the upcoming day had in store for him.

Shah Rukh Khan starrer Jawan to premiere on Zee Cinema; Ridhi Dogra reveals, “I said no first to playing his mother onscreen because I love Shah Rukh Khan so much”

Jawan, which marked the debut of Nayanthara in Bollywood and garnered ample love from Shah Rukh Khan and Vijay Sethupathi fans, is all set for its world television premiere. The Pan India Atlee directorial, which released in theatres in September and later on Netflix, will be premiering on Zee Cinema during the upcoming Republic Day weekend, on January 28. In an interaction, Ridhi Dogra, who essayed the role of Kaveri Amma, the foster mother of younger SRK, Azad in the upcoming actioner, revealed about her experience of working with such big names and also mentioned about how she prepped her character.

In an interview, Ridhi Dogra opened up about her experience of sharing screen space with the cast which included Shah Rukh Khan, Nayanthara, and Deepika Padukone who featured in a special role in the movie. “I'll be honest, I was very nervous about playing SRK's mother on screen. I said no first to playing a mother onscreen because I love Shah Rukh Khan so much and was in two minds about this. I mean 'it's SRK,” revealed Ridhi. She also went on to add how the actor paid her, her biggest compliment by expressing his desire to reunite with her on screen. “I think my biggest compliment would be from Shah Rukh Khan himself. I don't think I need any more responses after he said that he would like to work with me again. And for me, that is fantastic.”

Further talking about working with the leading ladies, Ridhi couldn’t stop gushing about their sincerity and hard work. “Nayanthara is very focused when it comes to work, she is very real. Her family plays a very significant role in her life but she manages her professional life equally well. It was a great experience with everyone,” shared the Jawan actress. She also praised Deepika Padukone adding, “Deepika is a beautiful human being and very generous and very friendly. She made me feel very comfortable in spite of being such a big actress. I remember her sitting with all of us and having conversation, everyone got rid of any intimidation they had.”

In the same breath, Ridhi also opened up about the prep she had to undergo to essay her character since she donned an avatar much older to her real age. “Everyone wants to look beautiful in the quintessential way; starlet, fashionista, but I am also an actor. The only thing I saw in it was that it was challenging for me. That's the only thing that pushed me to do it.” She concluded, “On-set, it would take me close to 2 hours to get into costume and hair and make-up, but that wasn't stressful at all.”

The action sequences in 'Netri: The Leader' and 'Jawan' bear a resemblance to each other. Ananta Jalil and Barsha have consistently expressed their deep admiration for Shah Rukh Khan's movies. New Delhi: When Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan wants something, he usually gets it. This is exactly what happened on Monday when SRK made a passing reference to the popular food-delivery app Swiggy during an Ask Me Anything session with fans on Twitter. Fans from across the world quizzed SRK on a range of things - his movies, family, and everyday banter. It all started when a fan asked SRK, “Khaana khaaya kya bhai? (Did you have your food, brother?)". To this, the superstar who is famous for his wit and humour wrote, “Kyun bhai aap Swiggy se ho….bhej doge kya? (Why brother? Are you from Swiggy…will you send me food?)" The food delivery app lost no time in joining the conversation and made an offer to SRK.
