sometimes i go on fightcade for some casual ssf2t and then i am cruelly reminded that i, unlike some of my colleagues have not spent 20 years honing their gameplay

so why the fuck did they make the ai in super street fighter 2 turbo so cheap? it's such a good game when played with others, but the singleplayer is straight up unplayable. even on easy. it's as if they erased everything they knew about making fun but challenging ai for the earlier sf2 games and instead tried to follow in the footsteps of the quarter-stealing, brainless, input-reading, cheating ai that was in mortal kombat.

like i know ssf2 was hated when it came out, but i never really ever heard anyone pointing to this aspect as part of the blame. i can't imagine any new player putting more than a quarter in that godawful machine. which cut off new players. it certainly turned me off so badly that i didn't come back until alpha 3. and i know i wasn't the only one.

srry i guess what made me think about this is that sf6 has all these cool emulated classic arcade games. and it's awesome. except they're singleplayer only. and because there's a leaderboard aspect to it, they upped the difficulty to what i'd confidently assume was hard (based on things like the enemy count in final fight, a game i'm pretty familiar with). and while i def think being unable to change the difficulty soft dipswitches even on unranked freeplay was overall a bonehead move, at least the other games were still enjoyable on some level.

but super turbo with hard ai turns it into a... bad game. i'd genuinely rather play sf1. the only sf i think is worse is sf5 and that's pretty fuckin bad lol. i guess it's a weirdly similar situation tho: a potentially really good game ruined by dipshit dev decisions. but it almost hurts more because ssf2t is probably my favorite version of sf2 to play against other players. anyways rant over.

That is why there is a black screen the switch is NOT frozen, lol. Instead, copy and paste the cheats u need and save it as a new cheat. The load will be considerably shorter.
