will not admit it but he has cried to multiple animated kids movies
definitely the classics like toy story 3, the iron giant, and inside out
but he also BAWLED at the end of finding nemo because he was thinking about gabriella
he thinks that toothless from how to train your dragon is cute
no i will not elaborate on that
secretly celebrates st patrick’s day
likes to wear something green under his suit or have one piece of decor hidden in the depths of his office
has really low spice tolerance BUT really likes it and also he has a reputation to keep up as the big and tough guy so he WILL try and hide how much water he is chugging
he likes the dad ice cream flavours like pistachio and rum raisin
but hates dad hobbies like golfing or collecting stuff like antique coins or dioramas
he just doesn’t have the patience for it
can cook and bake!!!! actually scratch that he can do all of the chores and is basically a househusband but is simply unwilling to do it
peter b may or may not have gotten him a kiss the cook apron that may or may not be the only apron he owns…
he could 100% have gourmet meals every day but he doesn’t have anyone to impress but himself so most days he just lives off of the sealed, pre-cooked chicken breasts from the convenience store and reheated rice that he makes in a big batch once a week
because yes chicken can be store bought but microwaved rice tastes too much like chemicals, especially for his heightened taste buds
is a shower guy
he thinks that baths are too inefficient and most tubs can’t fit him
but if you somehow manage to find one that’s big enough…oh boy he’ll act like you are waterboarding him but honestly he’s having the time of his life
competitive as hell, even when he acts like he could not care less
like he does not understand the concept of letting somebody else win, why is he handicapping himself and letting them think they’re better than they actually are?
he doesn’t mean it in a way to establish dominance or superiority
he just thinks that it’s weird to let someone win because wouldn’t lying to them be worse? now they can’t even improve
designed his own suit and probably gets a little bit self conscious when someone comments on it because he really isn’t an aesthetics guy but he worked really hard and is proud of his suit 🥺
was perhaps a little bit salty about the dark garfield comment but you didn’t hear that from me
please never trust him with naming or decorating though because if left on his own, it’s either going to be the most disgusting combination of items ever known to man or quite literally the bare minimum
don’t even think about a bed frame, there’s a chance that he doesn’t even have a mattress
he’s good with personal hygiene though
a slight germaphobe in the sense that he wants everything to be sterile (a habit he picked up from always being in the lab) but is more than okay with getting his hands dirty, just as long as he can thoroughly sanitize them afterwards
a terrible movie watcher
he either does not understand the movie whatsoever and keeps on asking questions that they just answered a minute ago
or he’s ripping them apart for their weird pseudoscience
honestly his ranting ends up being more entertaining than the movie at times
be prepared for a full lecture if you don’t stop him at some point though
i’ve heard a lot of people throw out spanish songs that they think he would listen to but might i suggest some non-spanish songs
he gives me doja cat vibes, don’t ask me, i just feel it
personally, i don’t think he would actively listen to kpop or be into the fan culture but he probably enjoys some songs without even realizing they’re kpop
i’m thinking newjeans and maybe epik high??
ABBA
mitski and hozier (where are my depressed wlw at) because you know that when he’s in his brooding self hating mood that he needs suitable bgm
HATES cruises
something about being on water does not vibe with his spider-catness
neither does the overall cruise ship experience
hot tubs and buffets just don’t really do it for him
there’s not much space for privacy except for your own room but even then the walls are fairly thin
so it’d be nearly impossible for him to get any sort of peace
me and the rest of the internet all seem to have agreed that he has insomnia and i feel like a cruise ship would not help whatsoever
would complain about how the mexican food is just what americans think mexican food is like
is too much of a workaholic to take an extended break, and it’s too difficult to jump back into work should there be an emergency

。・:*˚:✧。Silent Hill: Downpour Script✧.*
Tumblr media
"You did it! You killed the Boogeyman!"
"Doesn't Matter, it didn't bring you back. Nothing can bring you back."
ᵂᵉˡᶜᵒᵐᵉ ᵗᵒ ˢⁱˡᵉⁿᵗ ᴴⁱˡˡ
(CW?: mentions child murder, child abuse, and horror)
Tumblr media
𝙸𝚗𝚝𝚛𝚘𝚍𝚞𝚌𝚝𝚒𝚘𝚗 𝚝𝚘 𝚖𝚢 𝙳𝚁 𝚆𝚘𝚛𝚕𝚍:
Silent Hill Downpour contains many places and monsters that I would like to introduce so that you understand the story and DR in general.
• Fog World
-The town Silent Hill is always covered in a thick fog or mist, causing strange things to occur such as unknown creatures appearing and losing your sense of direction. The thick fog and strange occurrences is what makes it the "fog world". You'll be able to find every type of common creature you have encountered along the mysteries of Silent Hill in the fog world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
• Devil's Pitstop
-Devil's Pitstop is a basic diner with barstools, and booths along the walls of it. There is an old Jukebox in the back of the diner and behind the counter is a door to the kitchen with a few grills.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Devil's Pit
-Devil's Pit was a popular tourist attraction to visitors of Silent Hill, there were multiple activities to do with the family including sky-tram rides or the train ride down into the mines which was the most popular rides for the children that would visit. That was until a tragedy happened on one of the train rides, an operator had derailed the train and caused the deaths of 8 children.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Otherworld
-The otherworld is a counterpart of the Fogworld that I mentioned earlier. The otherworld is filled with a prison-like setting with machinery due to Murphy's time in Prison. Water is a prominent thing in the otherworld, water actually triggers the otherworld to unveil due to Murphy's trauma with water.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
St. Maria's Monastery/Institute
-St Maria's is a place of worship but also an overnight school for children to learn and play, most of the children there were neurotypical or autistic. There is also an Institute in the Monastery which was in charge of "curing" the children with autism by conducting abusive and harmful treatments that lead to serious injuries or even death to the children.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
𝙸𝚗𝚏𝚘 𝚊𝚋𝚘𝚞𝚝 𝚖𝚎:
I am a biological woman who looks androgynous in this DR who is married to Murphy Pendleton. I am 24 years old and had a kid with Murphy, a son named Charlie (All of these things are important to the story trust trust).
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tumblr media
𝚂𝚝𝚘𝚛𝚢:
Me and Murphy Pendleton are married and have a child named Charlie Pendleton, but one day Charlie was kidnapped and drowned by me and Murphy's neighbor Patrick Napier. Patrick was soon convicted as guilty for kidnapping and killing Charlie and was put in Ryall State Prison.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(Murphy and Charlie is in the left photo while Patrick is in the right)
Me and Murphy grow devastated after Charlie's death so me and him steal a cop car so that we could be put in the same prison Patrick is in so that we can get revenge on Patrick. Since the prison is a men's only prison, I have to bribe a corrupted cop into allowing me to get and stay inside of the prison with Murphy. Due to my androgynous looks it is convincing that I am a "man" and I make sure I can't get hurt in prison so that I don't have to go to the infirmary and get exposed that I'm actually a woman. As time goes on Murphy and I make a deal with another corrupt corrections officer in order to get revenge on Patrick without getting caught so that me and Murphy can still look good for probation. Soon the corrupt officer who is named George Sewell finds the correct time to lead Patrick into the showers with me and Murphy so that we can get our revenge on Patrick which we finally do by killing him in the showers. Of course I clean up me and Murphy's crime because me and him are married partners in crime.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The left picture is Murphy getting ready to attack Patrick and the right picture is of George)
A few days later me and Murphy are getting transferred to Wayside which is a maximum Security Penitentiary by bus but as we were heading to Wayside the bus driver gets distracted and crashes the bus into silent Hill. Me and Murphy soon wake up from the crash and we started to explore Silent Hill stuck in our prison outfits but we soon find extra outfits so that we don't look like escapees even though we are.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(The left picture is Murphy in his Prison uniform (which is what I wear as well) the middle one is Murphy's new clothes, and the third one is my new clothes.)
The only way for me and Murphy to get out of Silent Hill is to realize that it wasn't our fault that Charlie is dead and how killing Patrick didn't help us and just made us as low as him by going through the town as it tortures us with monsters, memories and horrid secrets of the world around us.
Tumblr media
That's all I got for my first script I'm posting on here. if you have any suggestions that I should make please tell me! And good luck shifting to you all!

I admit i didnt believe in birthdaygate/memorygate for a long time but after recent events with the st writers twitter i'm starting to believe, and after looking further into how it could be plot relevant i cant believe i never realised how important the shed scene is. like omfg its been right there the whole time???? vecna knows all of wills happiest memories???? ofc he is going to use them to his advantage somehow
(Referring to this post I made and the memorygate theory)
Heeeeey!
Yeah, I guess we'll see in Season 5 whether there's any kind of valid thread here (I'm personally on the fence with the whole thing, and just spitballing and having fun with it)
So far it's been established that Vecna "consumes" the thoughts and memories of the people he kills. They're kept in his mindscape. Everything that made them who they are as a person. And that's going to be an important plot point, especially surrounding Max in S5, imo.
But Vecna didn't kill any of the people present during the shed scene, so how can he do anything with their memories? Well, we know Vecna has the power to view memories without killing someone, but maybe he can actively manipulate/consume them without killing someone too. As in, it's not something he normally does (because why would he need to) but it's something he's capable of doing if he wanted. And Will is different from all of his other victims (save perhaps Billy). For some reason, he doesn't want to kill Will. He wants to play with him, possess his body, or potentially wants to win him over for reasons we don't know yet. We see El explore some of Billy's memories in S3, and Max's in S4. She's not possessing them, she's just able to enter their mindscapes and explore memories whilst she's in there. So we know that both El and Vecna have that power, it's a lab-kid thing that they can do. But Vecna also has this weird connection with time. So could he effectively alter memories and 'change the past', in a sense? Vecna's spent many hours levitating in the Creel House attic room, moving his consciousness from person to person and reading everyone in Hawkins like books. Watching them. Hearing everything. We visually see how it works in S4, just briefly before Vecna chooses Patrick as his next victim. So after Joyce, Jonathan and Mike tell Vecna what Will's happiest memories are (oops), maybe Vecna goes on to locate those exact memories and fuck around with them. And it's not just that those memories are Will's happiest memories - it's that Will's birthday and the rainbow ship drawing were most important to Joyce, it's building Castle Byers that was most important to Jonathan, it was playing D&D and first meeting Will that was most important to Mike.
I don't think it'd be one big event where Joyce, Jonathan and Mike all got simultaneous headaches one day, to be revealed in S5. But it could be a background scheme that Vecna's been slowly working on ever since the end of S2 after El sealed the gate.
Which is why as soon as we start S3, it's like Will has started to... fade? He's slowly being overlooked and forgotten. By S4, Will's birthday doesn't exist, Jonathan is distant and caught up in his own shit, and Mike seems to think his first real important connection with anyone was meeting El in the woods. There are still maaaany plotholes and questions with this theory, so I'm keeping a very open mind with it <3

date & time: March 17, 2024
ooc duration: March 14-18, 2024
Whether you're Irish or not, come out and celebrate St. Patrick's Day at The Garden in the suburbs of Merrock! We're offering something for people of all ages through the day, and everyone is welcome to come out and have a good time!
Starting at 3PM EST, we will have arts and crafts set up for the kids that want to come out, as well as Irish step-dancing demonstrations, for them to learn a little bit about the dance. Decorate shamrock cookies, or do some coloring and creative activities at the craft station. For the adults (or the older kids!) some outdoor lawn games have been set up on our yard and under the patio, such as redneck golf, horseshoe, and bean bag toss, plus the dart boards and billiards tables are available inside!
For food, sample some traditional Irish dishes that are perfect for this time of year, such as irish coddle, soda bread, shepherd's pie, colcannon, corned beef, potato cakes or fish and chips. Sample desserts like guinness brownies, chocolate stout cupcakes, their own version of a Shamrock Shake, a guinness float, and plenty of green cakes and cookies! Grab a drink, like a half and half, Irish coffee, whiskey mules, Tipperary, or just down a Guinness, Smithwicks, Beamish, Kilkenny, or, of course… green beer. There are plenty of green and old alcohol-free options, as well: refreshers, Italian sodas, mocktails. And much more!
Instead of a pub crawl this year, the Garden is sponsoring 'Irish Magic Flights' in alcoholic, non-alcoholic and dessert forms! Alcohol flights contain five cocktail samplers, non-alcoholic flights have a combination of refreshers, sodas and fruity mocktails, and dessert samplers will have frothy frappes, milkshake, pudding and other desserts. If you finish your whole flight (down the last drop!), you will receive a t-shirt!
The party will go on all night, so don't worry if you show up a little late, or can only stay for a while. Just come out and have a good time! xx

So... I finished the main taskline (for now) for Toontown Corporate Clash. I won't say too much about the end but it was definitely a journey to get through, especially when the server started having issues and districts had to be reset which made making and finding groups a bit of a drag.
So, I figured it'd be nice to have a little collection of screenshots I took over the course of my journey. Of course, I won't dump all of them, just a select few I found neat.
There may be spoilers but I think most of the screenshots I'm about to post are just out of context stuff anyhow so... I'm gonna give you a fair warning anyway!
Tumblr media
I believe I posted this a while back effectively saying that I have been playing TTCC and wanted to post this screenshot. I managed to catch the tailend of the St. Patrick's Day code event so I was able to snag some stuff, including the clover that became a mainstay on my deer.
Tumblr media
I think this may have been the first of many buildings I would take on by myself over the course of doing the main taskline so I guess I took this screenshot to comemmorate my first building (plus it was in Toontown Central, where buildings are kind of a rarity even on private servers) and the fact I barely made it out alive.
This was before I learned the power of Prestige Throw, btw, that little prestige gag carried me pretty hard with its self-healing properties.
Tumblr media
I just liked visual bugs and this one kind of tickled me. You can still get on the elevator, it's just bugged for some reason. No idea if this was a server thing or the behavior of the base code of the game that it ran on.
Tumblr media
Funnily enough, BB was the first playground I got to the final kudos rank-up task for just so I could go see Rainmaker, who would otherwise be known as Misty Monsoon if you searched through some ARG stuff (or read the wiki, I guess).
Her fight was an ordeal the first time through and was frightening and was definitely a step up from the easy gameplay of the babby game that came before it.
I spared her, in case you were asking. Fortunately, my group decided to do the same.
Tumblr media
I hated going through YOTT even though I liked the vibe of it all. The dialogue was painful to read but this one with Seymour in particular was chuckleworthy. Kind of appreciated that. Keep at it, TTCC writer's team!
Tumblr media
I think this was taken during my runs through Sellbot Factories for the Sellbot parts. I admit, it was a little nervewracking at first to utilize the group finder because, up to this point, I was just using it to set up groups for battles I absolutely needed to do (Derrick Man, Land Acquisition Architect, Public Relations Representative). No idea why this screencap in particular, maybe I just found the name "Medieval Pheasant" on the Turkey toon to be quite amusing.
Tumblr media
Fishing was my first activity I'd end up maxing on this server. As customary, I grade games based on how fun their fishing is. I'd give the Toontown fishing, as a whole, a decent 7/10. Fish Bingo is a nice sidegame and casting and reeling is super quick, also a good source of currency and ended up filling my bank to the brim.
Tumblr media
A screenshot from... some attempt at mity, I don't know the number tbh. Tried the old "befriend a cog" trick during the mist phase and my heart shattered into a million pieces afterward...
Tumblr media
Going through Mezzo Melodyland (At the time of writing, I have the rank-up task available to go from 9 to 10, gonna hold off on that for now but I'm coming for you, DAVE BRUBOT!), and I run into a taskline about a kazoo maestro who wants me to go find someone who is the kazoo kid. I already knew where this was going but I didn't think they'd actually go through with the bit.
Good one!
Tumblr media
Shut up and leave me alone.
Tumblr media
The only screenshot I ever took in a Cashbot Mint. Honestly thought it'd take a while to clear out the 4 Coin Mints, 4 Dollar Mints, and the 2 Bullion Mints but they were snap compared to the Lawbot and Bossbot facilities... especially in wait time, yeesh.
Tumblr media
Come on, you had to break into Reid's van at LEAST once! I hope she didn't mind me coming in, I mean, I do pay her a ton of jellybeans, after all!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
My first capped track was Throw, predictably. And I think Lure followed soon after and then it took a while before Sound, Squirt, Zap, and Toon Up would join them. Still got Trap and Drop left to go and I don't look forward to levelling Trap again.
Tumblr media
This wizard really wanted the... ahem... minglussy. iamsosorry
Tumblr media
Lawbot Lawfices... They were kinda fun but waiting was a bit of a drag. Although I think at one point, someone pointed out that you could play Toono on the couches. WHY COULDN'T BOSSBOT HQ HAVE SOMETHING LIKE THAT?!
Tumblr media
Speaking of, here's a screenshot from a Bossbot Cog Golf Course. Don't tell me which one because they all felt the same to me, and it was at that point that I really felt the drag. This part was probably one of the biggest hurdles imo and I don't blame anyone for not really wanting to do anything related to Bossbots unless they ABSOLUTELY had to. (Speaking of, if any friendos wanted to do cog golf courses, I'd gladly run it because I don't want them waiting half a century for a group.)
Tumblr media
Short detour into the High Roller stuff for MAYpril Toons event. I was sad that I couldn't fight Sads but the High Roller fight was definitely something else. And if they could pull that off for a permanent, non-canon joke of a manager, what could they do for 2.0? Gosh, imagine. The next few are also High Roller related, I had to grind for a bit to get the stuff out of him. (I still need one more item from him, barring another update that adds yet another goalpost, but it takes a while to beat him even with optimal strats.)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Holy meh, Toriel Toontown real.
Tumblr media
This one is from one of the CEO fights. I took this one because the game was taking its sweet time waiting for everybody and found the cogs with their hands in the same position as the grief kiwi sticker to be quite funny.
Tumblr media
While I was doing the DDL taskline, I ran into this where Featherbedder and a bunch of cogs were just... snoozing. And there was literally nobody fighting them. Guess they just wanted a slumber party, huh?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hehehe... yeah, game show. Would be crazy if there was one in Mezzo Melodyland hosted by a robotic green duck who is a fusion of two cog managers that we've previously fought, right?
Tumblr media
And the end of the road, for now. It feels... weird now that I have ALL FOUR task slots to fill up but it'll be a great boon when grinding out those kudos tasks! I'm not quite done yet with TTCC and I don't think I will be for a while, after all, I have drops to collect, suits to perfect, departments to experience fully, and a couple other stuff left unfinished.
I will say that I absolutely enjoyed my time in Toontown Corporate Clash and I wish the team good luck as they push onwards because this is probably the most polished Toontown experience I've ever... erm... experienced.

I just had the best realization!
For context: I'm not a teacher yet, but I hope to be going to college soon to get a degree in Early Childhood Education and then become an elementary school teacher (hopfully) soon after.
I know that I want a rocking chair in my classroom for morning meeting time, reading time or carpet time in general so I can have a comfortable chair to sit in throughout the day. Today I was looking at different children's books and adding them to my Amazon list for my future classroom and out of curiosity, I looked up if they made a Rainbow Fish stuffed animal and they do! So I started looking for stuffed animals of a couple different characters from children's books and I'm very excited to report that they make quite a bit!
So then I thought about it even more and came up with an idea! What if before class starts each morning, I put the stuffed toy of the character from our reading time book on the rocking chair as a fun little hint to my class about the story we'd be reading? I know that they might not get it or get excited, but I thought it might be a fun idea, just incase a kid or two does notice and get excited for it.
I've also decided that I want to have a designated stuffed animal to be our classroom mascot. Then I could make them do fun things around the classroom for different activities or holidays. Like if we're having art that day, then they wear a smock and hold a paintbrush, or if it's St. Patrick's Day and there's a leprechaun loose in the school that visits our classroom (did anyone else's school do that?), then they could be at the center of the mess the mischievous leprechaun makes. Or if we have a field trip to the zoo, then they hold a map of local zoo and has a little packed lunch of pretend food.
I'm sure there are teachers that have already done these things, but I'm getting very excited to get to college and get my degree and by extension, I'm also very excited to become a teacher, and the more ideas I get the more excited I get!

Easter History And How To Enjoy Stress Free Easter
What is the meaning of Easter? It depends on the person and their own beliefs. To our family, it is simply a family holiday to enjoy together. We have fun with Easter baskets and egg hunts. But we have to understand where Easter originated to understand the meaning behind the traditions.
We like to teach our children the history of every holiday. If you follow me, you know that. No matter your beliefs, you need to know how holidays started and why they are apart of our lives.
The feast day of Easter was first a pagan holiday of renewal and rebirth. Spring is known as the season of new beginnings because it symbolizes the rebirth of nature and the return of life after the challenges of winter. The spring season brings back color, flowers, and animals that have been dormant during the winter. This is why it is celebrated throught the world and history.
Honored in the early spring, it praised the pagan goddess of fertility and spring known as ‘Ostara’, ‘Eastre’ or ‘Eostre’. The word “Easter” finds its etymology from the goddess’s name. The Germanic folk, known as the Teutons, worshiped pagan gods and goddesses and it’s believed that the origin of the Easter Bunny, hares and eggs can be dated back to the 13th century in Germany.
Eggs are used as fertility symbols. Drawings of Eostre often depict her holding a woven basket on her arm, and she would carry baskets filled with eggs to encourage fertility. Eggs and seedlings have long been considered a sign of new life in many cultures, and the tradition of putting eggs inside Easter baskets has both religious and cultural significance. Later on Christians would hold on to the old customs. That's the main reason why we still give baskets filled with goodies during this holiday. To Christians it represents Christ's reasuresction.
Easter baskets are fun! But remember, that children do not need a lot. It isn't Christmas nor a birthday. Some candy, a new swimsuit, flip-flops, sunglasses, and sidewalk chalk all they really need. That is it. Sometimes, I don't always add flip-flops or a swimsuit. It really depends on it they have outgrown their old ones. To make it more enjoyable, try doing a scavenger hunt for the baskets instead of just putting them out to be easily found. It's much more fun for the kids. I do this for St. Patrick's Day. Unfortunately, I forgot to write a post about it. I will have to remember for next year. No matter the holiday, scavenger hunts are so much fun.
Dying eggs does not have to be a hassle. I know that many have problems with peeling eggs no matter what you try. Here is a suggestion: Start eggs in already boiling water for 15 minutes. Put eggs in ice water right for 15 minutes. Dye the eggs and peel under running water when you are ready to eat. Many sites have wonderful ideas on easy egg dying activities that are fun and stress free.
Another thing. I used to be one of those moms that thought my kids needed a new outfit for every holiday, including Easter. They looks adorable but it isn't necessary. They most likely already have something great for Easter in their closets. There isn't a need for me to stress about this nor you.
Easter egg hunts are another amazing activity. Everyone knows how to do this. But you don't have to only put candy. You can add money or little toys. Unfortunately, we couldn't do it today because it's a rainy day out where we live but we are excited to do it next weekend.
Once we are able to throughly enjoy Easter when the weather is better, I will add pictures. The kids are most excited about banana pudding. Remember, that desserts and dinner don't have to be hard either. Simply things such as puddings, no bake cookies, deviled eggs, and simple baked chicken instead of something that takes most of the day is just fine. You are meant to spend time with your family not slave away in the kitchen.
Well, that is it. Remember, that Easter is about the spring season and family fun. It doesn't have to be serious or hard by any means. Easter is filled with sunshine, warmth, lots of pastel and all the joy and new life that comes with spring!

The month of March is full of milestones and celebrations, from March Madness to St. Patrick’s Day to the Vernal Equinox and more. But for all of us at Down to Earth Markets and other B Corp certified organizations, March also means B Corp Month. B Corp Month is an annual event where we join together with other B Corps to share the positive impacts we’ve made over the past year and to articulate our goals for the coming year and beyond.
In case you aren’t familiar with B Corp certification, it’s a designation signifying that a business demonstrates high social and environmental performance, has made a legal commitment to its social performance obligations by changing its corporate governance structure, and exhibits transparency in its impact measurement and reporting. Certified B Corporations are leaders in the global movement for an inclusive, equitable, and regenerative economy. Down to Earth Markets is not only mission-driven but committed to demonstrating its impact on our area of focus via this rigorous external certification process.
The theme for B Corp Month this year is This Way Forward. At Down to Earth Markets, we consider B Corp certification to be an ongoing journey, not a finite destination, as we continuously strive to move forward by creating the change we’d like to see in the world and using business as a force for good. Here are some ways in which we are doing that: 1) This Way Forward: Economic Opportunity Down to Earth Markets creates economic opportunity for small scale farmers and food makers by connecting them directly to consumers in nine professionally-run, weekly, community farmers markets in New York City and the Westchester suburbs. We see micro- and small-scale businesses as the preservationists of our rich and eclectic foodways, but also essential to the health of our regional economy. As such, we actively seek out early-stage farms and food entrepreneurs to give them a marketplace entry-point to help jumpstart their businesses.
Down to Earth’s markets act as both incubators and steppingstones by providing venues through which farmers and food makers can reach a wider audience with their products. Our portfolio of farmers markets offers diversity in terms of market profile (size, scalability, location, ambience, and shopper demographics) so that producers can grow along with us as their businesses expand and evolve.
At the heart of our markets are our farmers, who often live in rural, upstate communities that are geographically more isolated and economically challenged. Down to Earth Markets provides an opportunity for these underserved populations, while strengthening our regional food system by providing an alternative to industrial food and creating a viable economy for small-scale farms. 2) This Way Forward: Food Insecurity Here in the United States, more than 44 million people are food insecure, with 1 in 5 children experiencing hunger every day. Down to Earth Markets is a partner in the fight against this widespread and growing food insecurity. We believe that everyone should have access to fresh, nutritious, locally grown food so we ensure that anyone who wants to shop at our farmers markets can do so.
We accept a range of programs to make wholesome food more accessible to low-income members of the community: SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) EBT which adds to the grocery budget of low-income households, Fresh Connect coupons and Health Bucks to give SNAP users more buying power at the farmers market, and Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) fresh fruit and vegetable coupons for seniors and low-income families with kids. At our year-round Ossining Farmers Market, Ossining Food Pantry clients can use coupons to purchase fresh food from the farmers market to supplement what they receive from the food pantry. 3) This Way Forward: Environmental Stewardship Caring for the earth is fundamental to Down to Earth Markets’ mission: it’s deeply rooted in who we are, what we do, why we do it and is even reflected in our company’s name. At our core, we believe that seasonal, local, nutrient-dense food is a vital part of our heritage that ensures the health of our communities and the land we rely upon. The environmental impacts of our operations can be found in multiple areas:
The majority of farms that serve our markets use regenerative or low-impact agricultural techniques to promote and protect the health of our ecosystems. These include seasonal production, organic growing, crop rotation, crop diversity, cover crops, water management, reduced tillage, on-site composting and other beneficial land-use and healthy soil practices.
Processed food travels around 1,300 miles before reaching the consumer. By providing communities with locally grown, in-season produce, the products sold at our farmers markets incur fewer food transportation miles and associated carbon emissions than that of industrially produced food.
The meat and poultry our farms produce has been sustainably and humanely raised requiring significantly less land-use change, water waste and energy expenditure than that of industrial factory farms. In addition, our prepared foods are made with ingredients and at a scale that eliminates the toll of factory food production.
The products sold by our farms and vendors have minimal to no packaging which helps reduce the volume of trash entering our waste stream. Plus, Down to Earth Markets encourages shoppers to bring their reusable shopping bags and asks vendors to refrain from providing single-use plastic produce and shopping bags unless necessitated by the type of item.
Down to Earth Markets works with local community organizations to provide Textile and Food Scrap Recycling in many of our locations.
4) This Way Forward: Good Corporate Governance As a Certified B Corp, Down to Earth Markets is required to build a corporate governance structure that is accountable to all stakeholders. We consider the impact on our community, employees, and the environment with every business decision that we make. We embrace certification, local sourcing, and community-scale commerce as the best ways to ensure transparency in business and our food system. In addition to B Corp certification, Down to Earth Markets has achieved New York Benefit Corporation status -- a corporate form designed for for-profit entities that want to consider society and the environment, in addition to profit, in their decision-making process.    In an era of ever-growing climate, political and social uncertainty, Down to Earth Markets believes it is critical to continue supporting and strengthening our regional food system and local economy in close alignment with the values of community and environmental care. This over-arching mission has been reflected in our commitment to maintaining B Corp certification since 2014. We invite you to celebrate with us throughout March as we recognize B Corp Month and what it means to be a business centered on making a positive impact and enacting meaningful change in today’s world.

HAPPY FIRST OF MARCH!
Can you believe we're entering the third month of the year?! So far, we're enjoying 2023 and we hope that you are, too. Read on to get a feel for things happening in character, stuff going on behind the scenes, and some gentle nudges and reminders that we would like everyone to please keep in mind.
HAPPENING IN MARCH:
READ ACROSS AMERICA. March 2nd (March 2-5, ooc). -- an event aimed to help kids all across Merrock discover their love of reading, and help them keep it going. [info]
ST. PATRICK'S DAY FUN. March 17th (March 15-19, ooc). -- join us at The Garden for a live band and all sorts of fun, and collect a gold coin from the bars in town for drinking a green beer! [info]
FIRST DAY OF SPRING. March 21st. -- just a fun day to get outside and enjoy spring as it rolls into town.
WAFFLE DAY. March 25th. -- specials all day at Cul-de-Sac diner, featuring everyone's favorite: waffles!
EXTRA BIT OF FUN:
Since we're busy with our interest check this month, we are not doing any sort of task, but it's never a bad time to check out the previously announced development resources on our tasks page! You can also take the time that you would spend working on tasks to update your pages... or just throw that little bit of extra effort into replies!
RULES & REMINDERS:
as usual, a friendly reminder to familiarize yourself with our rules and most importantly, be sure that you are following them.
as mentioned in february, please be sure you are checking the starter page & replying to starters regularly, as soon as you can!
be careful with replies! please don't fall into the trap of bubbling by putting priority into some, and letting others sit.
get involved! have your characters attend events & parties, jump into activities we offer, do fun things. like one another's posts, comment in the ooc, reply to anons, all the good stuff. our #1 goal here is to have a thriving, happy community.
BEHIND THE SCENES:
spring has sprung on our theme, with some bright, fun graphics! if you see anything out of place, or if something is hard for you to read, please let me know.
after the interest check, we will be using March to evaluate where we are with activity and see if we need to tighten up on rules at all, so use the interest check to get to where you need to be.
if you need help with anything from an admin, or have questions, please send them here to main, rather than our writing accounts, as we like to use our 'off the clock' time to write with you, but will always put priority into helping you when you reach out here.
April's events will include some Easter fun and a volunteer week, which will include an assigned writing pairing, to encourage players to branch out! Smaller events will include beer day, siblings day, pet day, world art day, earth day and arbor day!
HAPPY MARCH, MERROCKITES! xx
