The sky above is an endless canvas of midnight blue, bespeckled with thousands of glowing silver stars. Before you, the sea stretches out to meet the sky, arms wide in welcome, ocean waves singing a soft song of reunion. The water kisses the shore, over and over again, white foam kisses that tickle your bare feet as you stand there, staring out into eternity. The night wind whips your clothing against the soft curves of your body and gently pulls your hair from its pins, as if doing Gilbert’s bidding, as if it knows how he likes you best: nothing restrained, nothing held back from him. You turn to look at him over your shoulder, to where he is propped up on his elbows beneath the sand dunes. Even from here, you see the intensity of his crimson eye as it takes you in, frames you within the beauty of the night, engraving the moment into his mind so it may forever be called forth when he wants it.
You gather your skirts in one hand and run back to him, your feet sinking into the soft, fine sand. He opens his arms and you fall into them, laughing at the thrill of being in his embrace, away from the responsibility of ruling, away from the austere walls of the palace, the tall forests and bare hills of Obsidian. You have both worked so hard, building up the country, building up a group of nobles you can trust, building relations to other countries, including your own Rhodolite. It was, in fact, after you both had stumbled into bed on the wrong side of midnight that Gilbert took one look at your tired face and announced he had an idea.
A small, private island off the coast of Tanzanite had turned out to be a brilliant idea. No one else on the island, no one needing anything from the imperial couple. No distractions, demands or concerns. Just you, Gilbert and the beauty of the beach, the blessing of solitude.
You turn within the circle of his arms, reaching up to brush his hair away from his forehead. God, you love him. A love so expansive that it sometimes feels like it might just break you into pieces, grind you into dust and carry you away into the ether. Gilbert smiles slowly, pulling you closer.
“Yes, Häschen? Is there something you want to say?”
You shake your head, instead leaning up to kiss him. By now you’ve kissed him a thousand times. You’ve run your fingers over every inch of his skin, tasted him in a hundred ways, fallen asleep next to him countless nights. And yet each time you press your lips to his, it feels new, another blossom sprouting in the arboreal shelter of your love for him. He shifts you both, laying you down onto the blanket, already pressing his body against yours. His cool fingers kiss your bare skin as he skims the scooped neckline of your dress, laughing huskily against your mouth as you try to arch up into his touch.
“Ah ah…..Geduld, meine Liebe.” Patience, my love.
You sigh your frustration as his hands run along the shape of your body, over your clothing, where layers of fabric suddenly feel torturous against your warm skin. You ache for the soothing coolness of his touch. And he knows it. He drops his head, white teeth nipping at the sensitive skin of your neck. One hand pins your shoulder down, the other stretches, expertly catching the damp hemline of your skirt and slowly drags it upwards, the backs of his fingers purposefully feathering over the bare skin of your calf, your knee, your outer thigh.
“Gil….” His name is seized by the wind as it leaves your trembling lips, carried away towards the black ocean and glittering sky. He bites the soft skin of your shoulder as his hand slides across the top of your thigh, fingers curling possessively inwards. Your eyes close, shutting out the world, as your body winds itself tighter, a mechanism in the hands of an expert engineer. One who knows exactly which minute adjustments of hips and fingers, teeth and tongue, will have the greatest effect.
You gasp as he traces filigree on the inside of your thigh, his touch teasing, cloyingly close to where you need him. Your body twists, trying to right the course of his fingers but they remain where they are, the maddeningly sensitive skin on the inside of your thigh, no matter how you move.
Your laugh is fluttering ribbons of frustration and admiration, your eyes opening with the intention of catching his gaze and telling him to stop being so cruel.
You gasp again but not because of your husband.
“Look…..” You grab his shoulder, pulling him away from your half open blouse and the rose-red kisses he’s been painting across your skin. Had he managed to undo the buttons with his mouth? Or his other hand? Or had he simply torn it? You have no idea. And right now it doesn’t matter. He looks up at you, his beautiful face flushed with desire, questions in the crimson depth of his eye. You point up at the sky.
Velvet black is alive with light as several silver-white orbs streak across the sky, trailing long, glittering tails behind them. They burn white-hot as they fall like celestial beings falling from the heavens, aflame with holy light. Gilbert reaches up, removing his eyepatch, his gaze fixed on the sky.
His lips part in awe at the sight but he is quiet, drinking in the sight as the cosmic flames continue along their shimmering arc. He reaches out a hand without looking, knowing you'll take it and you do, threading your fingers through his as you watch alongside him in perfect quiet. Only the waves provide a soft accompaniment to the orchestral beauty of the meteor shower.
The only thing more moving than the living artwork of the sky is the feeling of experiencing it together. You glance away to watch him, his face another window to the divine, its beauty as heart-stopping as the meteors. He has gilded your life in silver, wrapped you within the tangles of his gossamer heartstrings and raised you into the light of a love brighter than any star.
The last shimmer fades from the sky, leaving only the memory of its radiance behind. You squeeze Gilbert's hand gently. He turns and he smiles, his eyes glowing like stained glass, backlit by the light of deepest affection. He tugs you towards him, clasping you against his chest as you fall back together onto the sand.
"I love you," you murmur in a voice smooth as sea glass, soft as the night wind.
Gilbert brushes your hair away from your face, his hand lingering behind your ear.
"Ich liebe dich auch," he answers in the language of his heart.
Love, like the eternal movement of the sea, passes between you, carried by your words, tangible in your touching.
And then he shifts, rolling until he is above you, blocking your view of the night sky and filling it with something even more beloved.
His lips touch yours, his fingers wind through your hair, and you close your eyes once again, your heart radiant with a desire as bright and beautiful as any cosmic wonder.

Danai - Fashion Queen
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Black Panther star Danai Gurira was seen at the film’s European premiere wearing a black figure-hugging gown featuring a phoenix crafted with 3 000 Swarovski crystals and 2 000 sequins. A further 380 hand-cut mother-of-pearl ornaments elevated her dress to couture artistry. Each opalescent shell was hand-carved, lacquered, drilled with a fine hole, and sewn into place individually to overlap like feathers. Vogue

Slowly, gradually, I have come to avoid and even fear the prospect of venturing beyond the front gate. Yes, let me gaze in quiet solitude at the shifting autumn sunlight through the glass doors of my veranda.
Sadly, autumn is already beginning to fade. The intense sunlight that made the afternoons seem like summer has weakened now, and the sky is always thickly overcast. It looks like the frosted glass skylight of a large atelier, across which cloud curtains move, sending down pale refracted rays as soft as twilight. Shadows and colours seen in this light seem to have a transparent clarity that cannot be sensed in the blinding glare of the sun. The trees have lost their leaves, their crowns bare and bright, their slender black branches tracing innumerable upward-thrusting lines against the sky. Behind them, the gazebo’s thatched roof and the field’s withered grasses glow yellow through the black evergreens in the distance. Half hidden by the ornamental stones beyond the veranda, tiny golden chrysanthemums bloom like stars. From there to the far end of the garden spreads an unbroken velvet carpet of moss even more lustrous than in summer. Two or three wagtails, pecking at the tiny moss flowers, move across the carpet, flicking their long, pointed tails up and down. How sharply their grey feathers and the crimson leaves of the dwarf sumac bonsai upon a boulder contrast with the broad green lustre of the moss!
No wind blows. The shifting, cloudy autumn afternoon maintains its thick silence, giving the illusion that the outlines of objects have been obliterated, leaving only their colours. On occasion, a few remaining leaves will suddenly flutter down from a tree. This unexpected stirring of the air is like the deep sigh of some mysterious creature. When that happens, every single leaf in the garden–from the evergreens’ lush needles to the clumps of chrysanthemums among the stones–resounds with an inexpressible sorrow and then, a moment later, reverts to silence. Atop the smooth moss: the wagtails again, the chrysanthemum blossoms, the bonsai’s crimson foliage. Ah, the light of a dream, the thin overcast of departing autumn.
Excellency! Since yesterday I have been reading Verlaine’s book of prison verse Sagesse: O my God, you have wounded me with love. The wound remains open, unhealed. O my God, you have wounded me with love… Excellency! Please come visit me once before the onset of winter. I am lonely.

the way it's been 9 months and I am still getting people fighting DAILY on my fucking horse desensitizing tiktok repost and even getting asks about it sometimes???
Again, I am not the girl in the video. I posted it because it was funny. The horse is fine. The video is sped up so idk maybe yall are imagining him panicking because of that.
I wish I could go back to December of last year and make myself not post the video because I'm sick of seeing notifications from it and not on, idk, art I've made. I'm also tired of people following this blog because of the post because I'd rather you all be following me for shit I work hard on like my art and fursuits. (Obviously not talking about friends and moots in this statement, yall can follow me here obv)
The amount of followers I have here in comparison to my art blog makes me very irritated and it's part of why I haven't been active here recently. There's 874 of you here and it's annoying as hell knowing that there's only 406 following my art blog.
Anyway, go follow me there if you think the horse video is so damn funny.

Such Happiness, Just Too Big…
Van Gogh's Birthday 4★ story (1/3) ( 1 - 2 - 3 )
Location: Van Gogh & Gauguin's room | Characters: Van Gogh, Courbet, Gauguin
Tumblr media
Van Gogh: Yaaawn… I slept well… Good morning, Gauguin…
Gauguin: Ah, good morning. … Also, happy birthday.
Van Gogh: … Ah! Right, today is my birthday! I’m so happy you’re the first one to wish me a happy birthday, Gauguin! Thank you!
Gauguin: … I also have a gift for you. We talked about that brush the other day, remember? You gave up on buying it back then… But… Here you go.
Van Gogh: Ah…
Gauguin: … I figured if I was going to make a birthday gift for you, this was the only way to do it. I mean… I hope you didn't… buy it already…
Van Gogh: No…! I was very disappointed, but I was ready to just give up that way.
What should I do? I don't know what kind of face to make with all the happy things I've been hearing since this morning. I want to laugh and say thank you, but I kind of want to cry... It's weird, isn't it, how happy I am?
Gauguin: If you're so happy that your emotions can't keep up, I'm happy too.
Van Gogh: … All right! In times like this, painting is the best thing to do! I'll go paint with my new brush right away! Shall I go out and paint? Or shall I go to the atelier? Either way is fine! I just need to draw fast! Let's see... Oh, I'll wash my face first…!
Gauguin: … Calm down, Van Gogh. Don't be in such a hurry, neither the brush nor the canvas will run away.
Van Gogh: But my hands want to draw!
Gauguin: I'm not sure I understand how you feel… But first of all, let’s take our time and celebrate you properly, okay…?
… I haven't been able to celebrate your birthday because of all the things that have been going on…
Van Gogh: Gauguin…
Gauguin: I'm just glad I got to give you a present this year... I'm really... really…
Van Gogh: … Yeah, that reminds me. We've always been like this lately, so I forgot all about it. Hahaha, it's like I'm talking about a dream, that there was a time when we couldn't speak well.
… Hey, Gauguin. We... We won't be like that again, will we?
Gauguin: … Yeah. At least I don't want that to happen… I want to keep painting with you as it is now.
Van Gogh: Then you feel the same as I do! Let's keep working together!
Gauguin: Yeah.
… Hm? Didn't you hear a knock at the door just now?
Van Gogh: Someone came this early in the morning? Who could it be?
Courbet: It’s me, Van Gogh.
Van Gogh: ! Courbet? What happened? Wait a minute, I'll open it now.
Courbet: Happy birthday. I brought you a present.
Van Gogh: Huuuh! How come Gauguin and you are celebrating me so early?
Gauguin: Well... I'm in the same room as you... Of course I wanted to celebrate before anyone else…
Courbet: I've known you for quite a while now. As my rival, I wanted to celebrate as soon as possible.
Van Gogh: It's a bit embarrassing to be called a rival! But I'm glad you feel that way. At first I was worried that we wouldn’t get along…
Courbet: I never thought you and I would become such good friends either.
Gauguin: I wonder if it’s because Van Gogh has… I don’t know what to call it… a kind of mysterious charm…?
Courbet: Yeah, it could be.
Van Gogh: Don't nod your head so seriously, both of you! It's very embarrassing!
But thank you so much. I'm so happy with your gift! I’ll treasure it!
Courbet: … This is all I needed to do. Sorry it was so early in the morning. Well then, I'm off to get ready for the party.
Gauguin: Ah… Then I'll go with you. Don't follow us yet, Van Gogh…
Van Gogh: Hahaha, I know! Because you're preparing for my birthday party, right? It would be a surprise to everyone if the star of the show suddenly showed up…!
I'll be here waiting for you patiently, so make it a great party!
Gauguin: Yeah.
Van Gogh: … Hehehe, I’m so happy. Come to think of it, what did Courbet give me?
… Ah! A new feather broom...! I'm glad he remembered when we talked about the tattered feather. Now I don't have to manually clean up the leftover dirt anymore…!
… Both Gauguin and Courbet, just for me... They’re so kind.
… I should have followed them. I feel kind of lonely. … I remember the last time I was alone like this.
… In the hospital room.

Moving Forward - Chapter 5
Chapter Five
First stake-out...
—————
She observes the young boy and hummed. She instructed Adrien to try and look around thinking that it might've been misplaced.
'I have a bad feeling about this. It's already bad that it's missing, but if my theory is right that it is in Ladybug's possession, we might be at a disadvantage.'
— previous chapter... —
Marinette was nervous. She doesn't know if she can pull it off.
She was currently crouching on a roof near the Agreste Mansion, waiting for any signal from the kwamis. She was already feeling a strain in her body due to wearing multiple miraculouses at once.
She was wearing the ladybug earrings, black cat ring, fox necklace, horse glasses, mouse pendant necklace. There was a slight change in the plan. She decided to do a stakeout in the middle of the night, that is why she also had a flashlight in hand.
If there are no open windows or any entrance to the atelier straight from the outside, she'll just create a portal. She was currently transformed as Multimouse. While the four kwamis searched around the mansion. After waiting a few minutes the four kwamis came back.
"Sorry bug, but all the windows are closed. And it can't be opened." Plagg said.
"But, the atelier is empty, Natalie is already sleeping and Gabriel as well. Their bedrooms are a bit far from the room." Tikki said.
Marinette thought about it. "Hey, Trixx. You think your illusions, can affect the security cameras inside the room if there is any?"
"Sure Kit. My powers are meant to be useful to you!" Trixx said.
Marinette nodded. She will need to divide into two, one to unify with Trixx for the illusion and another for Kaalki's teleportations.
"I hope this can work..." She mumbled before preparing to activate the mouse's special power.
"Multitude!" She activated the power and waited. She felt a slight change in her when she opened her eyes a copy of her is staring at her. She handed her the glasses.
"Mullo, Kaalki, unify!"
The gray, pink and black bodysuit was changed. The pink accents of her bodysuit were changed into a dark brown colour, while her mask was removed and the glasses act as her mask. Her ribbons in her Odango-style twin buns were changed from pink to dark brown. A horseshoe attached to the back.
"Mullo, Trixx, unify!"
He bodysuit turned into Multifox's look, all the pink accents on Multimouse become orange, and she has a white section on her chest similar as a result of the Fox miraculous influence. The pink section of her mask also becomes orange.
Multifox looked in the direction of the mansion, before grabbing the flute from her back and playing a song to activate the power. As short 'Mirage' and the illusions are up. The cameras will only see an empty room, and if the doors are opened they will see a dark empty room.
Multifox nodded to Multimare to open a portal.
"Voyage!"
She activated the power then a portal opened. They went through it to appear in the middle of the dark empty room.
"Mullo, Kaalki, divide." Multimare mumbled, releasing the Horse kwami. Multifox handed a small pouch that has food for the kwamis.
Multimouse is on guard duty, she needs to be on alert, while Multifox, Plagg and Tikki walk up to Mme Agreste's painting. Multifox pulls the painting to reveal a safe behind. She looked at Tikki who nodded before phasing through. Multifox flicked her flashlight 'on' once the safe's door opened.
She saw a picture of Mme Agreste, a book about Tibet, a ticket to Tibet, rolled-up pieces of old paper, and a shiny brooch, that is shaped like a peacock. The brooch has five segments. Its main colour is pale, light grayish blue-violet, while the crystals on the top of each segment are pink. The lower part has a silhouette body of a peacock as a single teardrop.
She had her jaw opened. Hawkmoth just leaves it here?! Wow... What a great keeper. She grabbed the brooch and clutched it in her left hand. Before grabbing the book about Tibet which only has words about their trip and nothing important.
She placed the book back, closed the safe then returned the painting back to normal. She then nodded to Multimouse, who immediately transformed back to Multimare, and opened a portal straight to her bedroom inside the dorm.
Kaalki was divided and handed a sugar cube to eat, before Multimouse and Multifox fused, leaving only Multifox.
"Mullo, divide."
Leaving her in a fox suit. She removed the illusion in M. Agreste's atelier before finally detransforming.
"Trixx, let's rest."
Finally leaving her in her pink athletic leggings and a cropped black shirt. She was still clutching the peacock miraculous in her left hand. She made sure she didn't leave anything. She had the pouch and the flashlight on the floor after getting dropped when Multimouse and Multifox fused back together.
She sat down on her desk chair with the disguised miracle box opened on the side of the table. The other kwamis flew towards her, while She was inspecting the miraculous.
"Tikki, I thought the Peacock Miraculous was broken?" Marinette asked while still inspecting the miraculous.
"Maybe Hawkmoth fixed it? He did have the Master Fu's tablet for a while..." Tikki reasoned out.
Since she basically stole the miraculous from Hawkmoth. She couldn't believe what was happening. One moment, she was alone fighting a magical terrorist that has two miraculouses that transforms themselves as Shadowmoth. Then suddenly, here she was, it was supposedly a stake-out only! Not a stealing stake-out! But... finders keeper, losers weepers!
Marinette sighed before attaching the brooch to her shirt and hoped for the best. the brooch changed into its new camouflage design, it was now rose gold in colour, from the five feather segments when it is charged to eight with pale pink crystals on the top of each segment, there was no design in the middle, leaving the brooch in a simple yet elegant look.
A dark blue ball of light popped out and swirled around her, after the light vanished a peacock-looking kwami appeared.
"Oooh! Hello! Huh?! Why do you have the other kwamis?! Who are you?!"
Some of the kwamis laughed at the new kwami's energetic personality, while Tikki and especially Plagg grumbled about how to keep the kwami in one place.
"Hello, Duusu," Marinette said then smiled at the confused kwami.
"I'm your Guardian, I have retrieved you from Shadowmoth's possession. I am sorry that I didn't get to retrieve Nooroo as well..." Marinette continued.
The peacock kwami gasped before nuzzling on the Guardian's cheek.
"Thank you! Oh if you could've seen him, his outfit was hideous! Poor, Nooroo! Please Guardian, save him as well!" Duusu exclaimed.
Marinette smiled, she removed the brooch to put it back in the Miracle Box. Duusu didn't get sucked into it since she had no intention to relinquish him, after placing it inside the designated area of the peacock miraculously, she opened the middle circle for the kwami once they want to return in the parallel universe inside the miracle box. She let the other kwamis talk to him, while she handles civilian duties.
She opened her website on her computer and replied to a few emails before responding to requested commissions.
Clara Nightingale is commissioning her for a set of four dresses that will be used for her brand new music video, that had a theme of stars, constellations, space etc.
It was a weird concept for her but decided to accept it, thinking it could be a challenge for her. She wrote a reply email then sent it to Clara before closing her computer and climbing up to her bed.
"I'm going to sleep, be careful okay? There's food in the other mini fridge for everyone, since someone's food is influencing the other's food." She said while giving a pointed stare at Plagg who had the audacity to look innocently at the young guardian.
"Goodnight, guys!" Marinette said in between her yawns.
A series of 'goodnights' was heard before Marinette finally drifted to sleep.
—————
"Is she asleep?"
"Yes, it's quite rare for her to catch sleep lately, I'm glad that this new change is giving her quite a good impact." Tikki said.
It was currently hard for Tikki's chosen. A Ladybug Miraculous holders are usually the leaders. Those personalities are needed to become a ladybug since they are the only ones who can purify an Akuma, cast a purifying spell, and with Tikki's creations of Lucky Charms, they needed to be a tactician and are aware of responsibilities.
She was proud of Marinette. Such a young child has a strong devotion to protecting the city while risking her life, but now the stakes are high for her. Hawkmoth is aware that the Ladybug heroine is the current Guardian of the Chinese Miracle Box.
If he manages to overthrow Ladybug he can gain access to the box, and the fact that her bug needed to repress her negative emotions down into the deepest voids of her soul after being targeted by countless akumas.
Tikki knew it was taking a toll on the young aspiring designer.
Being a superheroine that needs to battle akumas whenever and wherever is already hard enough. She needed excuses for her various disappearance every time there's an Akuma.
Having an emotional battle of trust and faiths between her and her former classmates, ever since the Liar appeared. It took everything in Tikki to not pop out of the designer's purse and chew the vixen herself.
Her series of achievements through various commissions by famous peoples in society.
And finally, this Guardianship that was handed to her during an unfortunate event. She lost her temporary heroes since their identities were exposed to Hawkmoth, the loss of her Mentor— Master Fu, and now the loss of her partner.
Tikki and even the other kwamis are curious about how she was still standing straight even though she was carrying a lot of responsibilities on her shoulders. The fate of Paris, France, the fate of the world, and the fate of everyone's reality by preventing Hawkmoth from achieving his goal, that can have a massive impact on reality due to how powerful miraculouses are.
"I am proud of your chosen, Tikki."
Wayzz said in a calm voice. "She took in the responsibility of being a heroine exchange for her time in her civilian life, and now, she chose to carry the heavy responsibility of a Guardian even though she can refuse it and pass it to someone else, leaving everything behind."
The other kwamis nodded at the wise turtle kwami's words. Tikki looked at them and smiled.
"I'm proud of my bug. She's a worthy ladybug and had shown how worthy she is despite her flaws. She made mistakes, but she chose to fix them. And now she's healing from the toxicity she had received in that place. Sleep well, Marinette..."

Quite possibly one of the brightest suits I've made! Tropical Punch was a beach themed shark puppy with a few extra special features. Foam core tail for a great wagging movement, trinket paws made with vinyl and filled with glitter and confetti, extra decorated eyes, and an optional trinket tongue.

Met Gala 2022: The Most Gilded and Glamourous Stars
May 6, 2022, Philippine time
On Monday evening, the Met Gala resumed its regular schedule on the first Monday in May, with The Metropolitan Museum of Art hosting its charity event, gathering some of the world's biggest stars who embraced Old Hollywood glamour and honored the Gilded Age.
Dubbed as the Super Bowl of fashion, the Met Gala is expected to serve numerous iconic and timeless looks on its theme “Gilded Glamour” a theme that leaves a variety of interpretation and inspiration from the Old Hollywood style and the opulence from the early decade of Hollywood sophistication.
The 2022 Met Gala, co-chaired by Blake Lively, Ryan Reynolds, Regina King, and Lin-Manuel Miranda, welcomed celebrities and fashion pioneers to present their own renditions of the "Gilded Glamour" theme. Black lace, metallic glisten, feathered motifs and dramatic hues rained down the prestigious red carpet.
In no certain order, here are the most gilded and glamourous stars on the 2022 Met gala.
Blake Lively
Tumblr media
Blake Lively amazed everyone on the red carpet with a quick change. Photos from: Versace’s Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/versace/.
Blake Lively was among the first celebrities to walk the red carpet. Versace presented her with a glittering metallic gown with a copper train.
Lively walked the red carpet in a custom Atelier Versace tulle column gown embroidered with crystals, metallic leather, paillette, and tri-tone copper foil duchesse silk. Halfway through the stairs an oversized foiled bow at the waist unraveled to reveal a second look in bright bluish-green —mimicking the transformation of New York's Statue of Liberty from bronze to oxidized green.
A beautifully painted, foiled, and stitched cosmic map is featured on the long duchesse train and is inspired by the 12 zodiac constellations that adorn Grand Central Station's ceiling. The dress's initial shape was inspired by American designer Charles James, while art deco features are reflective of New York landmarks such as the Empire State Building.
Alicia Keys
Tumblr media
Alicia Keys stunned everyone by reimagining the concrete jungle where dreams are made of  on a glimmering silver gown by Ralph Lauren. Photos from: Alicia Keys’ Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/aliciakeys/ , Ralph Lauren’s Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/ralphlauren/.
The iconic singer-pianist Alicia Keys astonished everyone on the red carpet with the majestic skyline of New York City on her  extensive black cape. Keys’ hand-embroidered and hand-beaded duchess satin cape, inspired by New York, has over 200,000 crystals. Her strapless column dress has approximately 30,000 crystals and black lacquer sequins. Both the cape and  the dress were by Ralph Lauren.
Gigi Hadid
Tumblr media
Gigi Hadid was definitely a head-turner with her monochromatic look. Photos from: Versace’s Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/versace/.
Gigi Hadid made our heads turn with her monochromatic custom look by Atelier Versace.
Hadid stepped in the Met Gala presenting herself in a burgundy puffer coat over a corset catsuit. The custom Atelier Versace puffer coat is the fashion atelier’s modern interpretation of coats from the 1800s and a revamp of the Dolman silhouette. The oversized puffer coat featured a shaded off quilted finish.
Hadid’s skin-hugging burgundy corset highlights a pointed neckline. The corset and the jacket's excessive volume clash in a luxurious display of contrast inspired by the late 1800s density and dramatic change in womenswear styles.
Billie Eilish
Tumblr media
Billie Eilish astounded everyone in the Met with her upcycled Gucci look. Photo from: Gucci’s Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/gucci/.
Billie Eilish made her entrance on the prestigious gala with an upcycled Gucci look by Alessandro Michele. Eilish wore a tonal duchesse corsage and a custom upcycled Gucci duchesse satin corseted gown with lace underneath and ruffled duchesse satin skirt with padded bustle. An embroidered choker finished her ensemble. Eilish’s look was styled by stylist Dena Neustadter Giannini.
Cardi B
Tumblr media
Cardi B’s golden glitz in the gala definitely dazzled everyone. Photo from: Versace’s Instagram account https://www.instagram.com/versace/.
Cardi B’s high-voltage take on the theme “Gilded Glamour’’ was definitely a head turner at the Met Gala. Cardi B wore an Atelier Versace embroidered golden metal chains on top of a hand-crafted illusion tulle column dress that took 20 members of the Atelier 1300 hours to finish. Medusa medallions and a crystal-encrusted Versace Greca adorn the chains, which visually resemble coins in an abundance of glitz. The complex embroidery can also be found on the arms and neckline, as well as a hand-sculpted collar that resembles a Victorian coat ruffle.

Nicola Coughlan channels her Bridgerton character in a pink and black corset-style gown by Richard Quinn. Coughlan opted for a feathery style for her first Met Gala. With its silhouette, exposed cups, and use of duchess satin, her look, which consists of an embroidered and feathered pink and black ball gown with matching cape, is inspired by the fabrications of extravagant 19th-century elegance. Coughlan also transformed her signature bob into long, flowing blonde locks for the gala.

THE BEST-DRESSED STARS: 2021 ACADEMY AWARDS
The year leading up to the 93rd Academy Awards may have looked very different, but one welcome constant was the parade of stunning creations on the red carpet on the iconic night. From a blue duchess satin gown by Louis Vuitton on Regina King and a yellow Cher-inspired cutout Valentino number on Zendaya, to a gilded Vera Wang dress on Andra Day and Angela Bassett in a 1980s-inspired moment by Alberta Ferretti, the ladies brought it for the night and took some chances along the way. We also have to tip our hat to LaKeith Stanfield, who did not sleep on the men's style front, wearing a jumpsuit by Saint Laurent. See who came in to the 93rd annual Academy Awards—and who took home a BAZAAR best dressed nod for their efforts.

1.Zendaya
Custom Valentino Haute Couture and Bulgari jewels: The major beauty made an impressive entrance in custom lemon-yellow Valentino Haute Couture featuring a strapless silhouette and cutout detail, while simultaneously debuting a coordinating diamond necklace worth $6 million by Bulgari. Not only did she give a sneak peek at the brand’s 2021 high-jewelry collection, Magnifica, she single-handedly redefined the idiom worth a million bucks.
Tumblr media
2.Andra Day
Custom Vera Wang Haute and Tiffany & Co. jewels: The United States vs. Billie Holiday star and Best Actress nominee took a true star turn in a cutout, asymmetrical custom liquid-gold metal-mesh gown (created with the help of metal welders) from Vera Wang's new Haute label. She paired her disco-chic standout dress with more than $2 million worth of Tiffany & Co. diamonds.
Tumblr media
3.Vanessa Kirby
Custom Gucci and Cartier High Jewelry: The Best Actress nominee for Pieces of a Woman is pretty yet edgy in a custom pale-rose silk gazar column gown with a box pleat train by Alessandro Michele for Gucci. The ultra-feminine hue was offset by a deep-red lip, dark nails, and a subtle cutout detail at the waist. Cartier jewels finished the sleek, '90s-inspired moment.
Tumblr media
4.Amanda Seyfried
Giorgio Armani Privé and Forevermark jewelry: The Best Supporting Actress nominee was all Hollywood glamour in this haute couture scarlet strapless ball gown spun out of plissé tulle, featuring a deep-V neckline with ruffle accents and a sweeping, dramatic full skirt. Her pretty updo, diamond earrings, and red pout polished off the look.
Tumblr media
5.Viola Davis
Custom Alexander McQueen and Forevermark jewelry: No stranger to the Oscars red carpet, Viola Davis—up for a lead actress statue—was a vision in a white thistle appliqué gown by Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen. She finished the look with a Jimmy Choo Venus clutch.
Tumblr media
6.H.E.R.
Custom Dundas and Chopard jewels: We're getting Stevie Nicks-meets-Aaliyah vibes from the songstress, who went with a custom, embellished cobalt-blue flared-leg jumpsuit with a hooded cape by Dundas. The singer accessorized with Bonnie Clyde sunglasses and Chopard jewels.
Tumblr media
7.Carey Mulligan
Valentino Haute Couture and Sophia Webster heels: Mulligan went for the gold in a stunning Valentino Haute Couture gown that boasted a cutout waist (a major trend of the night). Though the actress may be in line with the recurring themes of the evening, she stood out in this gilded masterpiece.
Tumblr media
8.Angela Bassett
Custom Alberta Ferretti and Chopard jewels: Angela Bassett embodied agelessness in a custom red crepe off-the-shoulder gown with draped organza shoulders and a train by Alberta Ferretti. The '80s-influenced look is all about drama, worn with Chopard jewels and sleek hair tucked behind the ears.
Tumblr media
9.Laura Dern
Oscar de la Renta and Pomellato jewelry: You could say Laura Dern is a bird of another feather, standing out in a red-carpet crowd that largely embraced cutouts, red, and gold. The full-coverage black-and white gown with a drop-waist and stunning feather skirt was well worth the risk.
Tumblr media
10.LaKeith Stanfield
Custom Saint Lauren: We love a man who loves fashion. With this custom Saint Laurent look by Anthony Vaccarello, Best Supporting Actor nominee LaKeith Stanfield proved (once again) that he's willing to redefine what creates a red-carpet moment. His black-and-white '70s-inspired outfit featured a wide, open shirt collar under a belted jumpsuit, paired with brown-lensed sunglasses and a silver chain.
Tumblr media
11.Regina King
Custom Louis Vuitton and Forevermark jewelry: The actress nailed the 2021 Oscars red carpet in crystal-encrusted blue duchess satin by Nicolas Ghesquière for Louis Vuitton. The embroidered gown boasted dramatic flay-away sleeves and a deep-V neckline. King paired the elegant dress with a simple, sleek bob and diamond earrings.
Tumblr media
12.Margot Robbie
Custom Chanel Haute Couture: Margot Robbie appeared on the evening's carpet not as an actress, but as a producer of the highly lauded Promising Young Woman. She dressed for the occasion in a custom sheath in ennobled metallic lace with a low back and thin straps, inspired by look 47 from the fall-winter 2019/20 haute couture collection by Virginie Viard.

gloria in excelsae reginae
@ashintheairlikesnow throwing my hat into the ring with some wingfic also. Anon, you are too good.
***
Glory to the highest queen.
-
There are those who have wings, and those who have not wings. Such has always been the way of the world. A law immutable as the rising of the sun, the hunger of magic for more. Laws that even wingless urchins grubbing in the dirt beneath the castle walls must accept, even if they accept nothing else.
Athos has always been the clever one. From workshop to workshop, gutter corner to palace atelier, he’s filled them with sketches and wings torn off backs to be carefully preserved. Later on, models of wax, then models of wood and metal. First the size of a hand, then a forearm, then large enough to carry a man aloft. The twins grow adept at teasing out the different varieties of canvas and silk, finally at spinning moonlight into a sail stronger and lighter than any wind.
The furthest London had a man named da Vinci, Athos is fond of saying. Well, he was no king, but he had some good ideas. War machines, for instance. Now where did I put…
He has always been the clever one. Astrid is…different. More direct. Blunter. Less interested in theory and experiments, more interested in working with what she has to hand.
Athos creates, when the things he needs are not available. Astrid adapts. Astrid seizes.
“I suppose you think me very brash,” she says without turning around as she slips her hood down and turns her face up to the stars. She’s always loved starlight, the same as her twin.
Behind her, feathers rustle and drag over the stone of the palace roof. “I think my lady knows what she wants.” The man’s soft voice is silken as the blot of his raptor’s wings against the sky.
“I know who I want too.” Astrid smiles, pleased with herself. Pleased with the city spreading silver and tiny beneath her like a sugary treat waiting to be eaten. Pleased with the man radiating hatred and helpless obedience behind her. She takes a deep breath and lets the cloak fall from her shoulders. “Hold me.”
Silence. Then a step. Then another. Astrid counts them. Up to just behind her, where she stands with her booted toes just pointing out over the abyss. He could push her off now and even she with her magician’s reflexes would never be able to claw her way back in time.
His arms settle around her instead. One crosses her waist, the other across her chest like a bandolier.
Astrid is a tall woman, but she has always felt very small next to the winged ones. Like a mouse next to a hawk, maybe, or a mote of dust next to an angel. Something about them is not quite human: the tiny swift movements of their head, their hands perpetually crooked like claws. She used to hate it. Now she relishes the feeling, leaning back against her pet and smiling up at the wind. A mote of dust may still command an angel, if it holds the hooks to the angel’s soul.
“Fly,” she says to the moon.
Holland falls like lightning from heaven.
Swift, swift - swifter than a horse on a battlefield charge, swifter than a sail on the sea - story by story they plunge and still his wings have not unfurled -
I should have brought goggles, she thinks inanely, tears streaming from her eyes before the wind, and then I wonder if he means to kill us both like this - no, I swear I’ll not die weeping -
And then the updraft, and they soar.
The shriek she’d been holding back spills from Astrid’s throat now. It starts as a scream, ends in laughter; Holland tenses all around her when she laughs. Her nails have drawn crescents of blood where they’d dug into his arms, but for once she pays no heed to the scarlet scent. She licks her lips, opens her mouth, and whoops.
Behind her Holland spits her loose hair out of his mouth. “Braid your hair next time, lady!” For once he’s shouting to be heard over the wind; she feels as much as hears his words deep in his chest.
“You bet your lovely eyes there will be a next time!” is all she shouts back. She thinks she hears the Antari groan behind her. Astrid laughs again and opens her eyes and mouth wide. She’d thought the city fine back then? She has the world before her now for a feast. Silver and wide open and lovely, and above it all the colorless stars.
They’ll put us in stars one day, she thinks. I will eat this world and the next and leave the stars for a memory.
Holland’s wings give another powerful beat as they climb higher, and Astrid’s stomach lurches. She digs her nails harder into his arms and turns her face up for more.
There are those who have wings, and those who have not wings. Such has always been the way of the world.
And there are those who snap the laws of the world in two between their hands and throw them away, and rise laughing through the sky.

The Story Behind Hamish Bowles’s Maison Margiela Artisanal by John Galliano Met Gala Look
By Hamish Bowles, published by Vogue on 08 May 2019. Photography by Mehdi Lacoste.
John Galliano was always a star. When I started on my Foundation course in the early 1980s at Saint Martin’s School of Art, as it was then known, he was already a supernova of the fashion department, his exquisite drawings setting him on a sure path to becoming an illustrator. He inspired me to decide on a career in fashion rather than costume design (I had been torn), and after the Foundation course, I stayed on at Saint Martin’s to pursue just that. As John worked on his degree collection the following year, he holed up in the college library, hidden behind stacks of reference books that served a double purpose: They defined his private work space and helped to shield his jealously guarded sketches from prying eyes. As it turned out, John had taken inspiration from the Incroyables—the male and female dandies who emerged in the wake of the French Revolution with their own exaggerated versions of revolutionary style. He even burnt the edges of his drawings and dripped candle wax over them to create the illusion that they had been salvaged from an aristocrat’s ransacked mansion.
The collection was sensational—Joan Burstein, who ran Browns, London’s most fashionable boutique, bought it in its entirety. John couldn’t afford a taxi to transport it, so he wheeled it on a dress rail all the way to South Molton Street, where Mrs. B put it in her window and Barbra Streisand and Diana Ross bought pieces right out of it: They were his very first clients. John turned down a job offer to become an illustrator in New York and instead set up his eponymous brand there and then on a wing and a prayer.
I wore pieces from that first collection—waistcoats made from patches of 18th-century-style upholstery silks and sprigged cottons, jersey long johns, and vast organza shirts tying at the throat with a huge jabot. (John has re-created one of these looks to complete an ensemble built around a coat from this collection that the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s costume department has recently acquired and that is showcased in Andrew Bolton’s brilliant “Camp: Notes on Fashion” exhibition.)
The following season, John didn’t have the money to stage a fashion show, so he did a presentation instead in an old artist’s studio off the King’s Road. This collection was based on a 1920s cartoon in the satirical British weekly Punch titled Afghanistan Repudiates Western Ideals, and it explored a collision of Occidental and Afghan dress in John’s characteristically intriguing way. One of my ensembles from this collection—including a knee-length skirt that caused a sensation in Paris when I wore it to the collections that season—is now in the Boston Museum of Fine Art’s exhibition “Gender Bending Fashion.”
As soon as I heard the theme of this year’s Costume Institute show, I thought it would be the perfect moment to work again with John, who has found expression for his unquenchable creative force once more at the Maison Margiela. John had already made me a bias-cut black satin evening suit that evoked Shalom Harlow’s look from his unforgettable Fall 1994 show in Paris socialite Sao Schlumberger’s empty Louis Seize mansion.
To my great delight, John was soon on board. I sent some inspiration images of my eclectic pantheon of camp icons, including Mrs. Slocombe, the character with the Elnett-hairspray-bottle hair in ever-changing pastel hues, from the British sitcom Are You Being Served?; Quentin Crisp; Barbara Cartland; and Jazz Age aesthete Stephen Tennant. Together with John’s partner, Alexis Roche, we looked at looks from the Martin Margiela Artisanal Men’s Spring 2019 collection and isolated some silhouettes that we thought could work for me.

At Saint Martin’s, John and I shared an inspirational mutual friend in the indubitably camp form of David Harrison, who was studying in the Fine Art department, had once improbably been scouted to front a punk band to be called the Sex Pistols (Johnny Rotten got the gig), and worked a Teddy Boy look that he accessorized with white winklepicker shoes, a peroxide quiff, and a pom-pom clipped white poodle dyed shocking pink who often appeared in his artworks. John’s studio had produced a frenetic collage print that was worked not only into the clothes but the runway itself, and that incorporated an Yves Klein blue poodle in everything from jacquard to tufted embroidery. I wondered if the poodle couldn’t go pink in homage to our camp friend?
Meanwhile, John’s studio sourced a jacquard cravat in mauve from Charvet, the storied Parisian men’s outfitter, and a selection of textiles in shades of grape and wisteria. (Charvet also made the shirt, and I found some Pepto-Bismol pink cufflinks in my own closet that the sculptor Andrew Logan had made for the John Waters high-camp superstar Divine in 1987. These would be my talismans for the night.)
When I went to Paris for my first fitting, after an initial visit to take measurements, John wasn’t in town, but Raffaele Ilardo, Margiela’s inspired head fitter, and his associate Jung A. Park were there to attend to all the finer points. There was already an amazing sample of the jacquard with the electric-pink poodles, and of the ostrich trim that John had instructed be embellished with metallic lurex threads to catch the light on the red (pink) carpet. (“Invisible to the naked eye but will pop in pictures, trust me,” he said.) Ilardo apprenticed with the legendary tailor Paquito (who carved Karl Lagerfeld’s most amazing suits at Chanel Haute Couture in the ’80s and ’90s), and he had made the most beautiful toiles, with a jacket that sat perfectly on my shoulders without adjustment and had a beautifully constructed rising roll at the top of the sleeves. The cape was constructed like a Victorian visite, with openings for the arms and subtle shaping in back. It was so perfectly constructed that I could have worn the toile itself.
Tumblr media

“I advise that cape is rehearsed up and down steps if you can,” said John after he reviewed the fittings videos from afar. “No angle must be left to chance but still must look spontaneous. Every swish must be ingrained in the subconscious, and always imagine that Avedon is following you. A sudden knock at the door works wonders for that frozen-eyes-to-the-left look. Never forget Avedon is your focal point.”
A little over two weeks later, with the clock ticking before the Gala, I returned to Paris for a final fitting with John in the house. To my amazement, the entire ensemble had now been made, including the wide-toed Mary Jane shoes, shown in patent but specially remade for me in violet satin. There were two options of subtly different lilac, for a sheer sock dotted with a point d’esprit effect that was faintly obfuscated by the crushed hairs on my legs and would definitely be showcased, as the short pants hovered only a little below the knee. John gave my lower calves a long, hard look. “You’ll wax them just before the gala,” he instructed firmly. (“Always better when viewed through sheer, tons of moisturizer 15 mins before socks are put on,” he advised nearer the day.)
“It’s unbelievable,” I said when I saw the cape arranged on a tailor’s dummy in John’s light-flooded Margiela atelier. “It’ll only become unbelievable when you start to wear it,” said John. And, sure enough, when I put on the cloak and began walking up and down the studio and it caught the air in its massy volumes, it lifted up like a cloud, and, despite the thick feather fronding, seemed almost as light as one. “La légèreté!” John proclaimed exultantly, “It looks like a canvas, like you’re coming out of a painting.” I used the Margiela staircase to rehearse maneuvering the cape up and down the pink carpet, and I tried to work it from every angle, thinking by turns of Dietrich and Dovima and Proust’s beloved Comtesse Greffulhe. (“I love that little coyness!” said John. “It’s a Dorian Gray moment!”)
I’d asked John’s longtime collaborator and my great friend Stephen Jones for thoughts on something for the head (he concocted the custom top knots for the “Camp” exhibition mannequins) and he designed a wonderful tiara bandeau made of Swarovski crystals that were custom-produced in the required lilac hue and, like those lurex fronds, would add some pink carpet dazzle. John pronounced it a “very cool touch” and suggested “surfer pink” hair to match.”
On the eve of the gala, I submitted to leg waxing and sundry other beautifications (“Lymphatic drainage on face the night before always refines,” John had counseled, and thank you, Tracie Martyn, skin alchemist). On the morn, I went to the Greenwich Hotel to be ministered to by the brilliant Teddy Charles and his assistant Satoshi Ikeda, alongside Amber Valletta, and then I hied up to the St. Regis in a white Maserati to meet John, Alexis, and Raffaele and practice some more swishing and strutting in the hotel’s ballroom under their watchful eyes. “The Japanese kids are going to go mental for it,” said John of my Savile Row meets School Boy meets Comtesse de Castiglione lewk. Stephen fitted the tiara, which perfectly framed those Teddy-tweaked waves.
“Command your space!” said John as I headed out, “Hamish, it will be a riot!” How right he was.

FASHION CREDITS: LADY GAGA BY JEAN-PAUL GOUDE
10 years after her first V Magazine photoshoot, Lady Gaga returns on the cover of Issue #V118 shot by the iconic Jean-Paul Goude.
The eccentric photoshoot features Lady Gaga in different characters, all put together and styled by Alex Aikiu. Hair by Kazue Deki and makeup by Mayia Alleaume using Maybelline.
Tumblr media
On the Goude cover, Gaga serves us showgirl realness in an Armani Privé Fall/Winter 2018 Haute Couture deep-plunging black velvet column gown, pink & black ostrich feather opera coat and hot pink satin & PVC pumps with crystal-embellished details.
Tumblr media
Her crystal star headpiece was created by Shaun Leane for Alexander McQueen’s Fall/Winter 2007 “In Memory Of Elizabeth Howe Salem 1692″ collection. The feathers are the stylist’s own.
Tumblr media
She’s also wearing diamond necklaces from Chanel’s exclusive “Haute Joaillerie” collection: Signature Surpiquée necklace in 18k white-gold set with 728 brilliant-cut diamonds for a total weight of 34.2 carats...
Tumblr media
...and the Pétales de Camélia Sautoir long white gold and pavé white diamond necklace from the “Jardin de Camélias” collection, which means Garden of Camelias.
The large stone necklace held in blue & brown is a vintage piece sourced at Galerie Argiles in Paris.
Tumblr media
She’s also repping Swarovski crystal elements on her face and the Castiglione opera-length black leather gloves by Causse Gantier (€450).
Tumblr media
In this shot Gaga wears the Hermitage silver metallic liquid bandage bustier gown with sculptural open front skirt and crystal flower appliqués from Atelier Versace’s Fall/Winter 2018 Haute Couture collection while channeling her inner Marie Antoinette.
The feathered headpiece on top of her Marie Antoinette-inspired wig is by the feather atelier Maison Février.
Tumblr media
The sky-high Pleaser Beyond-1020 black patent lace-up platform ankle-boots make a return and are accented with real flowers this time!
Tumblr media
My absolute favorite is this “broken doll” ensemble from Maison Margiela’s Fall/Winter 2018 Haute Couture collection!
This artisanal winter ensemble is composed of a beige puff bolster jacket with self tie-front, a yellow capitonnage quilt vest, muted blue felt coat between two blue down zip coats, black plaid wool coat with elongated layered sleeve, and army-green trench coat, all held together by an orange PVC belt and further accessorized with a sorbet foam fringe wig headpiece (made by Daniel Henry Studio) and clear plastic “veil”, finished with cream & almond-green hand-painted leather Tabi platform boots.
Tumblr media
In this BTS video we can see Gaga rocking a different headpiece. Alex told me Kathmandu designer Oanh Vovan and hairstylist Kazue Deki teamed up to create it out of a silk scarf featuring a Tibetan blue cloud print. She wrapped an Atelier Swarovski necklace around it.
Tumblr media
Here, Gaga is rocking several layered necklaces. One of them is the Mikimoto Duet Akoya conch pearl necklace. The gold one with red, blue & green gripoix stones is vintage Christian Lacroix sourced from Au Grenier de Lucie.
Her other necklaces are vintage from Bvlgari, Cartier, Galerie Argiles and Van Cleef & Arpels. One of the necklaces around her left foot is by Atelier Swarovski.
Tumblr media
Some of her largest rings were provided by de GRISOGONO.
She wears a-white gold ring set with white diamonds and emeralds from their “High Jewellery” line, a white-gold ring set with amethysts, white diamonds, peridots, rubies and pink sapphires from their “Melody of Colours” collection and an amethyst version of their oversized white-gold cabochon cocktail ring which also belongs to the “Melody of Colours” collection.
On her left hand, she also wears a round ring by Jean-Marc Laroche.
Tumblr media
She also wore several stacks of bracelets! The first one on her right arm is the Bvlgari Serpenti two-coil snake bracelet in 18kt white-gold, set with full pavé white diamonds.
Tumblr media
Right below we can spot the Van Cleef & Arpels hammered 18K gold Etruscan cuff. They’re about $40,000 - $60,000.
Tumblr media
What appears to be a stack of bracelets in various sizes, is actually this Chanel Coco Crush quilted gold and white diamond cuff!

[ad_1] History was told on the 2022 Met Gala red carpet, and the best dressed celebrities carried the message. Among them, Sarah Jessica Parker left her mark in a striking Christopher John Rogers gown. The "And Just Like That" star wore a Victorian-inspired, off-the-shoulder frock with a sweetheart-neckline corset and a pleated ballroom skirt in charcoal shades. Her ivory silk faille and silk moiré design recalled a "three-piece cape and gown ensemble" the late Mary Todd Lincoln wore circa 1862, a look that's been credited to an unsung Black seamstress, Elizabeth Keckley. Keckley was born into slavery in 1818, and her dressmaking skills helped her purchase her freedom in 1855. She went on to launch one of the most successful clothing businesses in Washington DC. Braving the long history of racism in the United States, Keckley became the first Black designer to be engaged by the White House. While few, if any, of her creations have been preserved, they were known for their impeccable tailoring and sophisticated design. Parker shared this untold chapter of history at the Met Gala, choosing a Black designer to orchestrate this spectacular moment. She took things up a notch with a dramatic feathered headpiece designed by Philip Treacy, another classic element of Gilded Age fashion. The "Sex and the City" actress brought style and substance to the event, similar to Gabrielle Union, who paid tribute to the Black and brown people whose labor generated the wealth of the Gilded Age. "When you think about the Gilded Age and Black and brown people in this country, this country is built off of our backs, our blood, sweat, and tears," Union said in a live interview with Vogue. The 49-year-old star accessorized her Atelier Versace dress with a fringe red crystal hair tie to "represent the blood spilled during the accumulation of gross wealth by a few during the Gilded Age."
