#star trek legacy wish list

Because it's not gonna happen anytime soon I'm going to try to guess the plots and arcs Star Trek Legacy might touch on:
Romulans since Seven spent the better part of 20 years patrolling what was once the Romulan Neutral Zone. Raffi was an expert on Romulan affairs, and if Elnor returns he could add more of Romulan Qowat Milat flair.
Jurati Borg Collective and the xBs on Coppelius. The implications of the Borgs joining the Federation. Especially after Federation Day.
Enterprise-G exploring what's beyond the new Transwerp the Jurati Borg are guarding.
More episodic to serial arc, 3-episode arc type of thing ala Andor, even a bit like SNW. Two Enterprise shows for the price of one!
Crossover episodes! Holodeck episodes! Shenanigans! Character-centric episodes so we learn more about the Bridge crew. Time loop episodes! 2 episode Time Travel episodes.
MOAR SUBMARINE-TYPE SPACE BATTLES.
MOAR SHIP PORN. Yes, I have come to accept I am that kind of Trek fan.
Day in the Life of the Enterprise XO. Or Raffi's no good, very bad day. Time Loop. Aka, like that one episode where Buffy had to repeat a day. And like that X-Files episode.
Delving mOAR about the complexities of Seven of Nine, Human and Borg. Seven reviving her love of science and engineering. The internal life of Seven of Nine and how she sees herself. Her love of Raffi. And as one fanfic posited, Seven of Nine asking Raffi to be her First Officer is the closest way Seven can ask for a committed relationship.
Voyager crew guest star!
NAOMI WILDMAN, SUBUNIT OF SAMANTHA WILDMAN.
Sidney LaForge also has an 'I! Fly! The! Ship!' moment. The Cook-Pilot reports to Sidney!
Dr. Ohk's Horrible No Good Terrible Bad Day redux.
Seven getting a Dutch from Killjoys moment where someone takes over the ship and threatens Seven's crew, triggering a: "The monster isn't out there with the crew. I'm the monster." And kicks bad guy's ass.
A HEIST EPISODE. Raffi is the lead because she's a goddamned spy.
More than 10 episode seasons, please!
A Seven/Raffi-centric episode.

Finished my DS9 rewatch & decided to look back on some of the missed opportunities of the series. Was DS9 perfect? Yes. I like Voyager and Enterprise but I could fill pages with missed opportunities etc, with DS9 I had to scrounge around for one list
Everything to do with how Terry Farrell's departure was handled but that's on Rick "fucking Rick Berman" Berman
The Pah-Wraiths are the least creative thing in DS9 and really the only time they fell into the pit of defanging an alien concept, by making the Prophets the Good God Aliens and the Pah-Wraiths the Evil Demon Aliens. Too much of the finale is spent on this silly plot of red-eyed, possessed Dukat in the hell caves. On the other hand the scenes where Dukat seduces the Space Pope into Satanism are fun
Tora Ziyal being this formless character bc they kept recasting her and somehow settled on "romance with Garak, who is her dad's age and, uh, y'know" as the best option for her. Why did Ziyal not have any kind of arc with Jake and Nog given they were around the same age
Jake Sisko I guess? For all that I respect why he wasn't around that much I do wish they'd included him a bit more over the years
I get why they revisited the Mirror Universe the first time but why did they do it again each season. Why were all those episodes still better than any Mirror Universe plot since
Uhhh the arc with the Orion Syndicate was kind of forgettable and it's sort of weird that the Orion Syndicate had no Orions in it
"Profit and Lace"
Uhhhhhh when they introduced the Defiant there was a Romulan onboard and she was written out bc they didn't have enough room for her and I'm scraping the bottom of the barrel here but it would've been nice to have a fleshed out Romulan at some point in the 24th century shows instead of a revolving door. It's weird that Star Trek has only had a regular Romulan character for half a season of Picard and he spent the next season dead and then vanished without a trace
Will Elnor never be mentioned again or will he show up on one episode of Legacy to get Icheb'd. Which would be worse
When did this become a Picard post

Fic authors self rec! When you get this, reply with your favorite five fics that you've written, then pass on to at least five other writers. Let’s spread the self-love 🤍
Aww, thank you for dropping this off in my askbox! Also oh god, I have so many favorite fics that I wrote, how will I ever choose just five? Anyway, these are arguably my favorite five fics that I wrote.
We Are Pilots (Tron Legacy, Sam/Tron, 90k words) changed my life. I answered a Tron Kink Meme fill with the kind of insane fervor that I later felt when writing another fic on this short list, and the response was phenomenal and overwhelming. This fic was the confidence booster of a lifetime and made me feel that actually, I am capable of writing stories on an epic scale. This fic went through several full rewrites and the final one is my favorite because this was where I really learned to let a story breathe and to make the environment as immersive as possible.
Wishing Well (Captain America: The First Avenger, 10k words) was a capkinkmeme fill (I was really big on LJ anon kink memes and I miss those so much for the unhinged communal vibes) and I love this short tragic tale of all the love that couldn't be. If I need something sad and cathartic, I read this fic. I need to feel the tragedy. I committed so hard to the bit that I deleted a fourth chapter set during Iron Man 2 and replaced it with a ficmix playlist.
born in a thunderstorm (Star Trek AOS/Guardians of the Galaxy/Thor Ragnarok/Captain Mavel, Kirk/McCoy, 68k) is the most unhinged thing I thought up since I was a middle schooler daydreaming a crossover of a bunch of Saturday morning cartoons and interestingly dubbed anime, and since I was a high schooler who went all out on a Kingdom Hearts fic by printing the screenplays for several Disney movies so that I can mimic the actual game as closely as possible. To think that this is the STXI fic I ended up writing after years of wanting to and never doing so out of fear I'd fuck up and get gatekept out of Star Trek.
Sweather Weather (Star Wars, Din/Luke, 22k) won the fight with Gravity Well because fall is here and the cozy vibes are strong in this one. Years back, I tried to write a cozy vibes fic and flamed out because I was a fool and didn't stick to the "slice of life" mentality. Anyway, this is my slice of life/cozy vibes fic and I adore it.
The Storm (Star Wars, Din/Luke, 45k) is the story I wrote in a fever dream, fueled by the song "Dangerous Dreams" by Lebrock, and my life has not been the same since then. This story is still so vivid to me. I still think about the claustrophic setting, the old stone temple on a forgotten world ravaged by weeks-long thunderstorms, and how that forged a curiosity and connection between two people whose cultures and ways of life were destroyed by the Empire yet still survived. I still think about this fic the way I think about stories that just seared themselves into my brain and won't go away (like the other fics on this list, Peter Jackson's LOTR trilogy, and Andor). It's all fucking insane. How the fuck did I write that?
Anyway, appreciate getting this ask! Now back to writing the next chapter of the 4th story of the series spun out of The Storm.

Legacy should be more than legacy.
A wish list for Legacy that embraces as best as it can the warring tribes of Star Trek and could avoid another "The Last Jedi" scenario.
People who have read my Season Three commentary will know that I am far from the last person to cry "memberberry" (did I spell that right? I actually really dislike the concept.)
In processing the broad swath of fandom reaction, it breaks down into a few categories worth thinking about:
People who enjoyed it and see no flaws.
People who enjoyed it in spite of the flaws.
People who disliked it for narrative reasons.
People who disliked it for "meta" reasons.
I would say I'm firmly in that second category. Take for instance Jack Crusher. There's a lot of commentary about him that strikes me as bizarre. A backlash to the implication that there is a portion of the fanbase that is uncritically fawning over him. A segment of the fanbase that I have yet to encounter, although I will admit to not having sought it out.
My initial reaction was to dislike the character for both narrative and meta reasons. Narratively I thought his very existence ran counter to a lot of preconceived notions I had about what the "definitive" version of Jean luc and Beverly are, whether or not they'd even conceive, and if they did how they would handle it. Frankly I felt their relationship had largely been put to bed late in TNG's run and in a very mature way. Not everyone who loves each other needs to be in a relationship or actively bonking. This is a lesson I myself have learned in the fallout of relationships after coming to terms with certain incompatibilities while retaining affection for the whole person in spite of the illogic of maintaining a conventional romantic relationship.
The meta reasons are that he's rather clearly "replaced" in some sense both Elnor and Wesley, although they are both alluded to in the dialogue. I do believe its reasonable to assume we were meant to insert either Elnor or Picard's ex post facto reconciliation with his memories of his father into what is left unstated when he says he would never have been his father. Beverly also references losing both a husband and a son to the stars that Picard was infatuated with.
However, I held my own feelings about this loosely enough that the character was able to prove to me that he "deserved" to exist. That he could be an interesting part of the story.
I was not any less disappointed by the absence of Elnor and Wesley not showing up at all seems completely daft, but the narrative made a satisfying argument to me that Jack could have a place in the story if I was willing to give a little.
As I told the Anon who messaged a while back to say I was being snotty to people who prefer more plausible and immersive worldbuilding and less of the camp and contrivances (and presumably the "memberberries" although I would not want to put words in your mouth if you're still following):
Star Trek belongs to all of us. I believe in a big tent fandom.
Which is why I think that if there is to be a "Star Trek Legacy" it needs to not so much move on from fan service, but to be holistic in its fan service. A particular kind of TNG fan got love bombed by Season Three. I find no sin in this but this also isn't the ideal format for an entire series.
I have repeatedly made note that I think the entire Enterprise-G stuff is not ideal. I don't think the starship service pathway makes sense for Seven, Raffi, or Jack. I think it does a disservice to their character arcs and the broader argument that Star Trek Picard has been making that Starfleet is not the sole source of moral authority in the universe. There are other valid ways to do much needed and good work in the universe. The Fenris Rangers being one example. Jack and Beverly acting as a sort of "Doctors Without Borders" in space being another.
I also don't believe in petty retcons and I do recognize the symbolism of re-christening a heroic ship that is already filled with heroic people "Enterprise" in order to say that what makes Starfleet great isn't its scientific acumen, how many cool gadgets can be stuffed into a frame, or the number and potency of its phasers and photon torpedo launchers, but rather the courage, grace, and openness of its people.
It is in someways symbolic that a path that began with the Federation putting itself between the Romulans and the Synths has now hit another mile marker: with a crew of people who are willing to bend rules in the name of radical decency we are returning to a more "bottom up" Starfleet.
That we arguably already have this in the form of Strange New Worlds is beside the point.
So duly noting that I would have preferred something more like Star Trek La Sirena with our more anarchist characters doing their own thing in their way plugging the gaps that Starfleet can't plug for itself for all of the reasons that Shaw continuously argued, I'm going to lay out a vision of how Star Trek Legacy could be awesome.
Now do DS9
I've long been captivated by the idea of a show that is inspired by the Global War on Terror and the occupations of Iraq and Afghanistan, but not in the same way that Enterprise or Picard were. Originally my thought was that the post Dominion War Cardassian space would be a good setting for this. Show the reconstruction and the painful work of trying to knit Cardassian society back together and trying to create something that is both pluralistic and functional.
Now I am skeptical of the potential of the real world analogs of post war Cardassia (Iraq and Afghanistan) to have been successful regime changes even under conditions of maximum cultural sensitivity on the part of the occupier and the prudent allocation of resources rather than wildly throwing money at problems in ever growing boondoggles that are utterly useless to the people on the ground but sound logical to the vulture capitalists and well intentioned but largely clueless political scientists infesting the State Department and the staffs of politicians. Consequently I would be very wary of normalizing the idea of military occupations.
However, Starfleet is a good vehicle for exploring the ins and outs of trying to rebuild a society shattered by war. Something that is even more relevant than it was when DS9 first started dabbling in this with its stories centering Bajor.
Now if we're to keep going under the assumption that its been more than two decades since the Dominion War, we could update this to the Romulan resettlement zone. Dropping this storyline like a hot potato after season one is one of my great frustrations with Picard because I desperately wanted to see explicit confirmation that the Federation had indeed been thoroughly shamed into rediscovering its wide eyed, do gooder spirit.
With Discovery and Picard ending, there is a space for a serialized narrative show. While I am very wary of this based on how not great the meta-narratives of Discovery and Picard have been and the addiction to epic stakes, I think it could be done and done well.
So an opportunity presents itself to tie up other loose ends.
Nazi Hunting and Church Committees
Give me more Raffi/Worf buddy cop action.
Give me accountability for Section 31.
Give me justice for the Romulans.
Justice for Elnor!
Put Seven, Raffi, and Jack's skillsets and personality to their best use.
How?
Bring back Sloan.
Whoa whoa whoa. Don't click away. Hear me out. You've read this far.
Project Phoenix? That wasn't for Kirk.
Here's the setup. Section 31 was lobotomized by Sloan's death. By its very nature Section 31 was set up in a set of cells with no one but Sloan knowing the full picture. Independent cells were able to keep going after but after the agency's existence became public knowledge, their existence became ever more precarious. Their list of allies in Starfleet growing ever thinner as their collaborators were exposed or burned Section 31 to prevent exposure. They needed Sloan or at least the contents of his head to find more safe houses, caches, and closets with skeletons in them.
Laris catches wind of Sloan via old contacts. This time its Jean luc who is off world on business and doesn't need to know the details.
With the assistance of Worf and Raffi, a team is assembled to pursue Sloan. The Enterprise-G as it happens, is already there on an errand of mercy making good on almost two decades of back owed aide.
Already aboard? At least two individuals with relevant knowledge and an axe to grind:
Elim Garak, plain, simple reconstruction and conflict resolution specialist.
Julian Bashir, frontier medicine and medical infrastructure reconstruction expert.
If the performers are down for it, I'm okay with canonizing them as queer representation. I'm not necessarily a big shipper in general, but I'm not anti-ship.
Elnor's affinity with the Sisters of the Absolute Candor would also feature in as the Sisters are about as likely to love Section 31 as they do the Tal'Shiar.
Jack is...slightly expendable. Not because he's a bad character but because I'm scratching my head trying to figure out how he's not redundant skills wise. His knowledge of the less savory parts of the galaxy would be a bit fresher than Seven and unlike her, he's not the Captain. Overall I think that he should hew closer to his mother in this role because I think the Jack that was doing orderly work was more interesting than action hero Jack. Him being a legitimate counselor would also be an interesting twist as we have yet to see a male mental health worker in Trek IIRC.
For more like this check out my other essays reevaluating Star Trek Picard and interrogating the widely held fandom criticism that Picard made the Federation into a Dystopia.

People I'd like to see on current Star Trek Shows
I definitely want to see Gates McFadden on Picard. Given that Beverly was Picard's oldest friend, and their relationship was practically intimate, it seems like a no brainer. Also, would love to see LeVar Burton and/or Michael Dorn show up. (Though personally, I'm more interested in Burton.
It'd also be nice for DS9 cast to get some love--either as a cameo on Picard or even Star Trek Lower Decks. I'd LOVE to see Nicole De boer as Ezri Dax (imagine if she was a captain in Picard!) think a cameo by Armin Shimmerman would be nice also now that Quark is apparently franchising. That or maybe Nana Visitor showing up on Lower Decks.
As for Strange New Worlds--I'd love to see Commodore Paris, though a more likely person would be Capt. Robert April. Oh, and I'd really like to see Dr. Boyce from the Cage. Also, I don't know if it fits canon, but I wouldn't mind seeing Sarek again.
I wouldn't balk at seeing Captain Jellico show up either somewhere wither.
Just a wish list. Obviously, I won't get all of this, but it'd be nice to see some of these legacy actors/characters.

Found a YouTube playlist of the Star Trek Armada games (which is a bit of a big deal since GOG hasn’t listed them yet - not that I’ve had the available cash to spend on their putting up the Activision Star Trek games, but...). Really, REALLY makes me wish that there’d been a third game.
Especially as a replacement for the underwhelming Star Trek Legacy that was released for the 40th anniversary - really, that game’s only selling point is having the five captains of the time in it. (And, since only Picard and Janeway are in a mission together, it doesn’t even really DO much with the concept...)
Yes, an Armada 3 is on my list of wish they existed games. And it has basically evolved way, WAY beyond anything that would have actually been doable at the time (probably even today, given the voice cast in my mind has about two shows worth of canon characters from across the franchise, even if the actors have already passed...).
But hey, it’s my fantasy, and I can have impossibilities if I want to.

MASTERLIST
Chapter 68: Mustafar
The next day Hux had arranged a transport ship to bring you down to the surface. You had ordered no more ships full of ‘troopers to be sent down to Mustafar until you had arrived. You were being guarded by Trudgen, Kuruk, and Captain Phasma. Hux and Mitaka were also escorting you along with a handful of other officers and ‘troopers. You could see the worry on Hux and Mitaka’s faces as you approached the surface. Both of them had their standard-issue blasters equipped to their belts.
You waited as the ship landed, all eyes were on the exiting ramp as it lowered. The surface of the planet was much different than you expected. The air was heavy with a volcanic smell, the trees in the forest looked scorched. Desolate is how you would describe the planet to which your wedding was to be held. You followed the knights out of the ship, Phasma directly to your side and the rest of your company following. You did your best to show no fear, your head held high, your shoulders and back straight. You were not to be messed with.
The Alazemac approached with their guns, spears, axes, and bows. Yelling words that you did not understand. But they halted when they saw the knights. You could hear them speak to one and other as they pointed to Trudgen and Kuruk’s helmets.
You turned around to ask one of the officers behind you, “Is there anyone that speaks their language?” You wanted to know what they were saying. You were hoping that the similarities between the knights and Kylo were working in your favor at the moment.
“The translator droid does.” It stepped forward. You watched as the Alazemac regarded it in a rather hostile manner. You weren’t sure if they were used to any technology of this sort.
“Can you tell me what they are saying,” you asked the rather robotic humanoid droid. You had sort of wished whoever designed it had left the eyepieces out, as they looked rather soulless.
“They seemed to be debating on whether or not the Knights of Ren’s helmets are related to that of Lord Vader’s,” said the robotic voice of the droid.
One of them seemed to hear the word Vader as they all began to shout his name. You didn’t know whether or not to be excited or scared. You hoped the shouting was a good thing.
“Can you tell them that the grandson of Lord Vader wishes to use the castle?” You really hoped they believed you. Hoping that the knights’ helmets would be just enough to convince them. You really didn’t want an all-out war.
You heard them exchange conversation, the droid turned back to you. “They have agreed.” You could see silence fall over the cultists.
“Tell them thank you,” you knew you needed to be polite. Basically, it was rule number one in all of your training thus far.
“They do not have a word or phrase for thank you, Lady Ren,” responded the droid with a cocked head. For the first time, you honestly thought it could actually think and not just compute.
“Then tell them Lord Vader would be pleased, at their allowance for us to use the castle.” You hoped this would translate well, it wasn’t a thank you per se but it should be good enough. Kylo and the knights usually failed to have proper manners, but you were supposed to be a lady. So you needed to have good enough manners for the both of you.
The droid translated what you said, and you could hear excited chatter from the cultists who ushered you towards the castle in the distance. You were thankful that Adlez picked out a comfortable pair of boots for this visit.
The castle was a large structure that seemed to pierce the sky with its height. It sort of reminded you of something out of a fantasy novel, like Lord of the Rings. But not something the elves or humans would live out of, rather something Sauron would. You approached a river of lava by the entrance. Now you were starting to understand Kylo’s design and fashion influence.
While it was full of symmetry, and clean sharp lines it was dilapidated. Upon entering the ruins of the castle, you felt eerily alone even though you were surrounded by many other people. The heaviness and stillness of the air added to the wariness you felt. Something about this castle felt as if there was more here than just a building.
You watched as Trudgen, and Kuruk seemed to share some sort of silent communication with each other.
“Do you feel it too,” you asked them.
“You feel it? I thought you lacked Force sensitivity,” responded Kuruk, his distorted voice echoing in the large silent chamber. No one had said anything since entering the castle, as if too afraid to disturb what might be there.
“I don’t have the Force, or at least the doctor seems to think so, and the Supreme Leader has yet to say something about it. But I feel…. a heavy darkness in the corners of the castle, but a blanket covering it? And under us is something I do not want to visit.” Something dark seemed to, for a lack of a better word, live under the castle. Something you were afraid of. You could feel the rational part of your brain get worried.
“This place is full of the Force,” responded Trudgen.
“Built using ancient Sith architecture directly over an ancient Sith cave. This place is also filled with Darth Vader’s energy. What you are feeling is the Force. And purely the dark side of the Force,” said Kuruk.
You stepped around some fallen stone as you made your way to the main room that overlooked Mustafar. “The dark side of the Force? The Sith?” You had a million questions stirring in your mind. “It would probably be best if the boss answered those questions. In his next call to you, you should ask,” said Trudgen.
You looked around the room you were in; it felt open but yet closed off from the rest of the galaxy. “This is where the ceremony will take place. I want what can be repaired to be repaired.” You turned to the other officers who seemed to not want to enter the room as far as you did. You then spoke directly to the translator droid. “Let the Alazmac know that we will have ships and technicians brought down to the surface to repair the castle. We want to help restore it, to fulfill Lord Vader’s legacy.”
You then turned back to the large window, gazing at the firey burning planet that you would have to be married on. The lines of lava reminded you of the red lines marring Kylo’s mask. This felt in many ways like it was the place Kylo was meant to be. Not somewhere else in the galaxy fighting for who knows what, but here. You wondered if this was the place that you would eventually rule from, or if he would still choose the Supremacy. But this still didn’t feel like the place in your dreams. No, that place was different. It had a throne, an ancient one. Here it felt too new.
Hux approached you, “M’lady I’ve received a message from the Supreme Leader.” He held out his comlink, and you heard a recording of Kylo’s voice. “The scavenger is dead.”
Your heart stopped for a moment. He was doing it, he was actually killing Ben Solo. His mother would be next. You felt frozen in time, your ears rang before Hux spoke again.
“He also sent word that there will be a transmission of the battle being sent out during the monthly address tomorrow. The one you were supposed to hold together. He wants you to lead it.” The numbness of static was felt all over your body. You were going to have to lead without him, without his help. Your hands started to shake.
“Do not worry, m’lady. Myself and Hux will help you. You are also able to rely on proper staff now. All you should have to do is really introduce the transmission and to conclude it,” said Phasma reassuringly.
For a moment you were jealous of her and the knights. They could hide behind masks. They did not have to mask their emotions on their faces. They had anonymity when they wore them, even if they were recognizable with their armor and helmets. You were vulnerable, and now really for the first time without Kylo by your side.
You didn’t fully register your thank you to her in your mind, but it escaped your mouth, anyway. Your body working on autopilot as you made your way out of the castle and back to the transport shuttle. You hoped Kylo would call you again tonight. You needed him, and you hoped that he could feel that wherever he was in the galaxy.
You disembarked the transport shuttle in the main hanger; you hadn’t said a word to anyone on your ascension back up to the Supremacy. Your mind was going a million miles per hour, and it was completely empty at the same time. You calmly made your way back to your chambers, still running on autopilot, not speaking to or addressing anyone.  You entered your chambers where you were greeted by the rest of your staff and your ladies-in-waiting, “Out.” You gave a simple command. As much as you probably needed to prepare for tomorrow, you needed to be alone right now.
You were by yourself for no more than a few minutes before you received a holocall from Kylo.  You watched as his disheveled image appeared in front of you.
“You’re hurt.” There were a few new gashes littering his face, and from what you could see another on his arm, and what appeared to be a hole in his side.
“I am fine.” His voice was gruff and abrupt. On closer inspection of his image, you could see that they were mostly just angry reds and pinks and not actively bleeding. “She is dead.”
You quickly blinked twice before responding, “Yes. Hux delivered the news to me.”
“Good. How are the preparations coming along?” His voice was rather monotone. His eyes now seemed as cold and hard as steel.
You knew this was probably not the best time to test his anger, “Good. I visited the surface and negotiated with the Alazemac. Repairs should be underway for the castle itself. I have a fitting tomorrow. Everything seems to be coming along.”
“Good.” He just seemed to stare at you, you didn’t know if you should end the call.
“Can you explain to me briefly what the dark side of the Force is and who the Sith are?” You didn’t know if he was in the mood to answer these questions, but you needed to know. At least you weren’t accusing him of not proposing to you.
“The force has three sides, the light, the dark, and the grey. The light side is aligned with calmness and is used for knowledge and defense. The dark side is aligned with passion and is used for strength, power, victory, and above all else freedom. The grey is a mix of the two, a balance. The Sith were the opposite of the Jedi. The Jedi used the light side of the Force whereas the Sith used the dark side.”
“So does the Force have a mind of its own or can you like fully control it?”
“No, I manipulate it, sometimes I let it into my desires when it touches you as it does, that’s me. Usually, I am wanting to do what it’s doing while doing what I am doing.”
“So in my brain, the wanting to take over?” “That wasn’t something I was fully in control of. As the doctor said he believes we are too compatible and so the me that was in you, wanted to replace you. I do admit that I may have gotten carried away exploring your mind. In many ways it is the most intimate thing I can do to you, caress your mind with mine. I want to fill you with myself completely. Once I am done with my task, we can scour the galaxy for ancient texts to see if we can heal you, or strengthen you. So when we would like to be truly as intimate as can be—we can.”
This was the first time in your conversation that it seemed that he had any emotion at all. Only when he was speaking about you. Your eyes softened towards him, you watched as his body relaxed. You wished he was here with you, every particle in your very being craved his presence.
“When do you think you will be home,” you knew you probably wouldn’t get the answer you wanted to hear, but you desperately wanted him home.
“I will be meeting with my mother in two days’ time. She has agreed to surrender herself to me. After that, I will return to you, Kitten. And there shall be nothing that can separate us ever again.” His body hunched forward, closer to you. Oh, how you wished you could kiss his lips, draw him in close, and never let him leave your side.
“I wish you could be with me tomorrow, but I know that you have your duty and that I have mine. But I miss you so much,” a tear made its way down your cheek. Your heart threatening to make you release your ocean.
His voice softened considerably, “Do not cry Kitten, I shall be back to you in three days time. And then you shall be Empress. We will be together for eternity.” You could hear the emotion in his voice, almost as if he was holding back his own tears. His face seemed to reflect this too, and he swallowed back his emotions.
“I should let you go, you need to rest. And you need to follow my orders of coming back to me in one piece.” You wiped another tear that escaped.
You saw him smirk and heard a deep chuckle escape his wide chest. “I shall do that. I need to look my best for my wedding. But you should rest as well, Kitten. I shall see you soon.” And the call ended. Once again you felt rather empty after his image disappeared. But he would be home soon, you would be with him soon.
You mustered all of your strength and energy and got up. You headed to the dressing room to check on your appearance before you called all the staff back in to plan tomorrow’s assembly.  They were in your chambers in a matter of minutes along with the Allegiant General.
You paced up and down in front of them. Hands-on your hips as you were to on edge about, well, everything. You looked at Lieutenant Amala Graven.
“I need you to send a letter to the orphanage to set back the date of my appearance until after I become Empress.” You hated setting back the date, but there was no time now.
“Do we have any idea when that shall be,” asked Hux.
“The Supreme Leader informed me he believes he will be back in three days’ time. His mother will be handing herself over in two days.” You hoped this to be true, you loathed being apart from him now.
Graven pushed up her glasses before asking, “So the letter will state that you will arrange a visit after you are officially crowned Empress but I shall give no date as to when that shall be?”
“Yes,” you answered simply and continued pacing. “Now, what shall I say at the assembly?” You asked as a general question to them all.
“M’lady you have no need to worry,” reassured Captain Mitaka.
“Public speaking in front of billions of people isn’t exactly my forte.” And who’s strength was it, really? They weren’t in your shoes, they didn’t have this responsibility—you did.
“Would you like to watch that film again,” asked Hux. You knew he was the only one that had a similar experience to you. He has spoken in front of billions of people, but he was born for this. It was in his blood.
“No, I just need to feel prepared.” You felt as if watching the film might actually give you a stutter you didn’t have. And you wanted to avoid that as much as possible.
Night fell, and you felt better after planning everything with your staff.  You let your ladies-in-waiting prepare you for bed as they helped do some preparations for tomorrow morning’s prep. Dr. Dabrini came to administer your nightly sleep medication.
“Doctor, is there anything you could give me to ease my anxiety about tomorrow’s assembly?” Nervous and anxious were understatements about how you felt.
“You shall do great tomorrow m’lady I know it, but I can arrange for an anti-anxiety pill with your breakfast tomorrow. But I do not suggest to make it a habit.” His calming voice and understanding eyes gave you a small comfort.
“I don’t want it to be one either, but with the Supreme Leader not being at my side, I feel more anxious than ever,” you confided.
“I understand. I will make the arrangement. I believe a droid should be responsible enough to deliver that medication.” He then left you alone to fall asleep. Thankful that the sleeping pill was so effective as you were sure that the butterflies in your stomach would have kept you up otherwise. Morning came quickly.
Adlez and Olivia-Rose rushed you into the bathroom first thing. Drawing a bath, giving you the works. You felt as soft and as new as a baby when you stepped into the dressing room to get ready. Adlez picked out the perfect dress. It reminded you of Kylo’s uniform and it was a comforting gesture. After all, you were supposed to be a united front for the First Order whether you were with each other or not.
As promised the doctor had sent a pill for you to take with breakfast, something to help calm you down. Your nerves were alive with electricity, your stomach churning so bad that you barely ate your breakfast. You hoped the medication would kick in soon.
You made your way down to the assembly hall, for the second time, but for the first time without Kylo. Trudgen and Kuruk stood before you in front of the double doors of the hall. Waiting for your command to enter. You sent your staff ahead of you. So now you were alone in the hall, with just them, but they were quiet guardian angels. You closed your eyes for a moment, trying to reach out to Kylo. You knew it was impossible, but it made you feel better. “I’m ready.” The doors opened, as did your eyes. You followed your black guardian angels up to the stage. You could feel the anticipation of the room on your tongue. Everyone was on the edge of their seats.
This time the execution had already happened. And now you were to relay this information to them all. You received encouraging nods from the officers on stage. The knights fell back behind you, following you now, being imposing as you stepped up to the podium. All eyes were on you, and not just the ones in the room, but all across the galaxy.
Your voice rang out with confidence, “Yesterday the Supreme Leader won one of the most important battles in the history of the galaxy. A great feat was accomplished. We are currently winning our war against the impure New Republic and their trivial Resistance. He, being the gracious Supreme Leader that he is, has sent us a transmission of the battle that took place. You will now have the honor of watching him fight in battle, like the many great warriors of the Empire before him.”
You stepped back as the transmission played, being broadcasted to all corners of the galaxy. Before you all was the battle between Kylo and the scavenger Rey on what you assume to be the desert planet Pasaana.
You heard her voice first, “You don’t have to do this. I feel the conflict in you. It’s tearing you apart. Ben, I saw your future. Just the shape of it, but solid and clear. You will not bow before the dark side. You will turn. I’ll help you. I saw it.” Her blue lightsaber lit as she was meters apart from him, in a battle stance.
Kylo, sans helmet, let out a menacing laugh. “I saw something, too. Because of what I saw, I know when the moment comes, you will die. You will not stand by me. You are alone. I know what I have to do.” You watched as he ignited his lightsaber. Showing his monster to her, his beast.
She was holding back tears, “Ben.” But calling out the name of his weaker half only made him angrier
“Let the past die. I’ll kill it if I have to. That’s the only way to become what I am meant to be. It’s time to let old things die. Snoke, Skywalker. The Sith, the Jedi, the Rebels.... let it all die. I will rule with her and bring a new order to the galaxy.” He brought his arm up, taking aim at her as he spread his stance out, getting ready for the attack.
“Don’t do this, Ben. Please don’t go this way.” Her tears were free flowing now. He was breaking her heart.
“You know the truth. Say it. SAY IT! You have no place in this story. You come from nothing. You’re nothing. You mean nothing to me.” He was practically foaming at the mouth, his eyes wild with anger and destruction.
She let out a cry as he rushed forward. He dominated the battle, striking with such strength and ferocity that you had never seen. You thought his sparing with the knights was impressive, but it paled in comparison to the battle that was unfolding on screen. He was winning until a blaster shot from off-screen grazed his arm. For a split second, he looked back at the person who fired the shot, and while he was distracted she stabbed him with her saber.
You heard a massive gasp roll through the crowd if you didn’t know that Kylo was alright and if the medication wasn’t in your system, you would probably be sobbing at the sight.
You watched as his attention snapped back to her, seemingly unfazed at his own impalement. Between clenched teeth, you heard him say, “Wrong move,” as he sliced her in half with one swift swing of his arm. Her saber deactivating completely, leaving him with a clean, cauterized hole in his abdomen. You watched as he knelt down over her, clenching his wound. “Pathetic,” was the last thing he said before the transmission ended.
You stepped back up to the podium before your brain could fully register what you just saw. You simply said, “Long Live the Supreme Leader.”
A/N: So.... How are we all feeling? Let me know!

Do you have any recommendations for games in which players control whole governments/organized religions/pirate fleets? I'm in the early stages of running a long-term Lasers and Feelings campaign, and I want to make sure that the political situation isn't static outside of the players' actions. Thank you for the help!
There are quite a few tabletop RPGs along those lines, though most of them are on the heavier end of the scale. (Of course, practically anything would be heavy compared to Lasers & Feelings, so I’m assuming you’re not opposed to dialing up the complexity at least a little bit!) None of these are really directly suited for Star Trek style shenanigans, but you may be able to gainfully adapt some of what you see here.
Dynasty - A Game of Thrones style exercise in skulduggery and backstabbing that plays out as a sort of cross between a conventional tabletop RPG and a tactical card game. Probably the most purely adversarial game on this list, this one doesn’t even require a GM. I wouldn’t use it as-is for a more character-centric game – it doesn’t really have any forum for individual-scale action – but it’s a good example of how to go about really rigorously mechanising political play without ending up with great heaps of rules – the actual game is only about four pages long, not counting all the print-and-play cards at the end.
Legacy 2nd Edition - This one’s a generational game where each player takes on the role of a “family” (a general term for a variety of organisations – a given player may be playing a cult, merchant house, paramilitary group, the surviving crew of a crashed alien starship, etc.) in a post-apocalyptic setting. Play alternates between high-level factional play and zoomed-in “crisis mode” play where each player creates a specific member of their family to serve as their character for the duration of that crisis. Once the crisis has passed, play zooms out again and the timeline is advanced to the next generation.
Mindjammer - A transhuman space opera game where players generally don’t directly play as organisations, but can do so indirectly due to the way character writeups work. In a nutshell, there are several scales of play, ranging from individuals to infrastructure to organisations to entire cultures, and entities on various scales all use essentially similar stat blocks with the same set of skills. When creating your character, you can take skills that are out of your scale to represent ownership of or influence over entities on higher scales. It would be unusual for a starting character to have culture-scale skills, but there’s no rule against it!
Reign - A political fantasy game where the party is cast as a Company, the game’s term for a group that’s able to act on the scale of nations – albeit very small nations, for a typical starting group. Relations between Companies are presumed to be adversarial, and to this end, the game supplements the more usual mass combat/clash-of-armies mechanics found in similar games with what can only be described as an economic combat system. Note that there’s a second edition due out later this year, so you may wish to hold off on any major purchases, as anything you buy now will be outdated in a few months.

I can't stop thinking of this post proposing Tricia Helfer as a recurring antagonist for Captain Seven of Nine.
A sort of dark mirror/foil.
For Sisko he had Eddington, for Janeway it was Ransom.
It would be crunchy and interesting if Seven's dark mirror is a former Borg-like, from the generation of Borg like Seven was, but taking her cause to the extreme.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Caprica!Six vs Seven of Nine.
It would be so interesting and crunchy.

@alienfuckeronmain tagged me to deep-search my soul with these questions, and it is the exact distraction I was looking for! no pressure to do this one, pals, but i tag @carbonbased000 @leyley09 @shoeboxofphotographs12 @glitterandrocketfuel @allkindsofplatinumandpercocet @setting-in-a-honeymoon @toorational and anyone i’ve forgotten!
1. Do you prefer writing with a black pen or blue pen? does anyone like blue pens? who is this product made for
2. Would you prefer to live in the country or city? the city, cuz i spent 7 consecutive years very broke in rural areas with homophobia neighbors and having things to do is so thrilling. but i imagine one day retreating into the desert and living far from my nearest neighbors
3. If you could learn a new skill what would it be? I have learned all the skills I am interested in right now, because learning new things is an a+ quarantine activity. maybe the ability to do physics? i would like to be proficient in physics and i am deeply not
4. Do you drink your tea/coffee with sugar? Never
5. What was your favourite book as a child? all of them! I have always read like i’m running out of time and often get stressed when i think about how few books i will be able to read in my lifetime. as a child I reread Lord of the Rings and Robin McKinley and the Holly Black Tithe series the most, and i was OBSESSED with those gold-paged books with ribbon bookmarks that were diaries of girls from different historical periods, and i have never been able to read historical fiction since.
6. Do you prefer baths or showers? I hated baths passionately until my chronic pain reached a tipping point, and since then i have learned to really enjoy the long hot soak with a drink and a book. (i didn’t like showers either until very recently. life support tasks felt like a huge waste of time until i got a partner who helped me figure out how to enjoy them)
7. If you could be a mythical creature, which one would it be? i have always wanted to be one of tolkien’s elves! I want a long life filled with learning languages and reading books and existing in green peaceful spaces, and then i want to be able to die when i am done.
8. Paper or electronic books? I like paper better--I’ve been building a library slowly my whole life--but my kindle has been life-saving during the pandemic when i couldn’t go to the library.
9. What is your favourite item of clothing? right now i’m doing all my work remotely and clothes feel meaningless, but i have a plain black tank top that i feel really comfortable in
10. Do you like your name or would you like to change it? I don’t like my name at all--it’s Kaylie--because it is so aggressively peppy and feminine. it doesn’t sounds like an adult’s name; it evokes exclamation points and pigtails. i have always wished for a severe, no-nonsense name like joan, or a pretty but to-the-point name like eva.
11. Who is a mentor to you? Leslie Knope
12. Would you like to be famous and if so, what for? I used to fantasize about being a famous writer, and now in my field i do wish i had a name that mattered or was considered esteemed or expert in something in some way. I would love to have a research job where i had paid time to publish! but i don’t want it enough to work on it outside of my capitalist mandatory labor hours, because i don’t have enough time for my loved ones as it is
13. Are you a restless sleeper? lately yes, since my cat died in january i have slept like absolute hell
14. Do you consider yourself a romantic person? not really, but i am a thoughtful one
15. Which element best represents you? earth
16. Who do you want to be closer to? physically i want to be closer to my long-distance pals like @alienfuckeronmain @newleafover @time-less @immoral-crow @leyley09 (leyna let’s have a movie night when i’m done moving???)
17. Do you miss someone at the moment? pretty much all my friends i used to regularly hang out with, sam who moved to seattle, sam who lives in madison, all the people i listed above
18. Tell us about an early childhood memory. I used to play going to work. i’d pack up a backgammon case as a briefcase, grab my stuffed gorilla, and go write in notebooks and move pieces of paper around
19. What is the strangest thing you have eaten? I am an extremely boring person and all I eat is popcorn and bread
20. What are you most thankful for? having an able body that works to support me and keep me whole, having a partner who makes me feel truly cared for
21. Do you like spicy food? yep!
22. Have you ever met someone famous? once at c2e2 i met george r.r. martin and no one else cared he existed because got wasn’t a show yet, so i awkwardly went up to him and proclaimed my love for his work, and then he trapped me in a long conversation about vampires
23. Do you do you keep a diary or journal? a journal! i have since i was pretty small, they take up a full shelf of a bookcase
24. Do you prefer to use a pen or a pencil? pen, and i have lots of Special Pens that i only use for a particular purpose or project, because i am a huge raging...
25. What is your star sign? virgo
26. Do you like your cereal soggy or crunchy? crunchy and without milk
27. What would you want your legacy to be? personally, that I wrote things that meant something to the people who read them; professionally, that i removed barriers to accessing healthcare for trans and gender expansive people
28. Do you like reading, what was the last book you read? see above--I completely adore reading. last book was Sisters of the Vast Black and currently i’m reading The House in the Cerulean Sea and it’s totally charming. 30. Do you like ice in your drinks? not especially, but it’s fun to chew on
31. What are you afraid of? surgery
32. What is your favourite scent? smoke from blown-out candles, lavender, laundry detergent my loved ones use
33. Do you address older people by their name or surname? whatever they’ve told me to call them? this seems like common courtesy
34. If money was not a factor, how would you live your life? I do so much less clinical work and work fewer hours in general, I would run for office so I could influence policy and stop wasting my fucking time on the ground level, I would spend more time writing, I would spend so much more time with my family, I would devote the time to running longer distances again in a way that doesn’t aggravate my busted knee
35. Do you prefer swimming in pools or the ocean? the ocean!
36. What would you do if you found £50 on the ground? oh i would definitely spend that on something stupid and self-indulgent i wanted, like a pete wentz hoodie
37. Have you ever seen a shooting star? YES! when i was kid every summer i’d be sent to jesus camp, which thank god because that’s what got me into fanfiction, and it was in the middle of nowhere, wisconsin, and you could see the entire milky way and shooting stars blaze across that thing ALL THE TIME, and it shook me to my foundation every summer and for a time i mistook that feeling for faith in god instead of wonder at the infinite being and possibility that is our generous universe
38. What is the one thing you would want to teach your children? i have none of my own but my partner has a 5 year old, so quite against my intention i have become a parent-adjacent person. i try to teach him about emotional accountability for the effect of his actions on others
39. If you had to have a tattoo, what would it be and where would you get it? the next tattoo i want is a big snake crawling up my mostly bare left arm
40. What can you hear now? my laptop fan
41. Where do you feel the safest? when i’m protecting someone else
42. What is the one thing you want to overcome/conquer? my relationship with my body
43. Of you could travel back to any era, what would it be? i’d really like to be a gentleman of leisure in a jane austen novel
44. What is your most used emoji? the purple heart
45. Describe yourself using one word. earnest
46. What do you regret the most? not going to a 4-year university and having a #college experience. it’s one of my most stinging regrets because it was not a decision i got to make for myself
47. Last movie you saw? what is a movie theater? what does it feel like to be in one? the last movie i watched is charlie’s angels from the early 2000s because that was an unexamined sexual awakening for me--lucy liu being efficient in leather has never left me, efficiency is the single trait i most attracted to--and i wanted my boyfriend to see how bad it is
48. Last tv show you watched? either Kipo and the age of the wonderbeasts or star trek tng!
49. Invent a word and its meaning. instead i will say that i think the most beautiful english word is ache. my favorite way of creating things is transforming and remixing what already exists, which makes writing with words someone else invented the ideal challenge and pastime
(i really loved doing this! it was nice to talk about myself at the end of a workweek. thank you @alienfuckeronmain !)

❤️ 👻 🎁 💕 🦋 🦈 🎨
❤️ What is your favorite line that you’ve written in a fic?
I'm gonna dig through my Tron Legacy/MCU barista AU for this one....
"He could be a fed," Sam said uncertainly. Then he thought about the words the man muttered as he left with his precious coffee. "Maybe he's with the IRS." "What does he need a gun for?" He shrugged. "People really hate the IRS?" "That's a CSI: Miami episode."
Ended up reading the whole fic while searching for my favorite line(s). There are a lot of references in this thing that I don't remember anymore good lord.
👻 What is your wildest headcanon?
I'm still drawing a blank on headcanons in general, Anon, I'm sorry. God I'm so bad at these, fucking rip.
🎁 Have a piece of a WIP you want to share?
“How does a junk freighter get through our shields?” “I don’t know, I’m not there! Calm down and let the others deal with it. Kriffing hell.”
Chapter 3 of The Stars is currently happening because I want to get another chapter out on my birthday 🤪
💕 What is your favorite fic that you’ve written?
As a person with no children, I have to assume this is like asking which of my children - if I have more than one - is my favorite child. Can I make a short list?
The Storm :: The Mandalorian born in a thunderstorm :: Star Trek x MCU Waking Ghosts :: Dragon Age A Thousand Eyes Staring Backk :: Mass Effect Wishing Well :: MCU We Are Pilots :: Tron Legacy
So maybe this list is longer than one fic, but some of them are THE contribution I made to their respective fandoms and that automatically makes them my favorites. If you asked which is the saddest one, though, that would be Wishing Well.
🦋 Which character is your favorite to write?
I feel so bad for not having more than the same set of names for this question a;ldjfsdjjdj;ljfl;fjla;jd;lsdfka;sldfjksd
They would be Din Djarin, Dorian Pavus, Bones McCoy, Sam Flynn, Dean Winchester.
🦈 Which character is the toughest to write?
I'm a weenie who can't write as characters I'm uninspired by. Then there are characters like Kylo Ben and I know they'll be the toughest to write because I'll just not write them. I don't care what kind of backstory Disney gives you to try to excuse your genocidal behavior, white neo-fashy nepo baby, you did your parents and uncle and their friends and allies wrong af and I will never write you.
🎨 If someone were to make fanart of your work, what fic or scene would you hope to see?
Okay, okay, okay, I will allow myself a little indulgence.... if I see anyone draw anything from Meteors, I will lose my goddamn shit. I don't care that I did my own art, that doesn't count, I just wonder and want to see how other people would interpret that two-chapter spicy self-indulgent story.
Play ask games, win ask prizes!

Digging Deeper
Thank you to my radiant wonderful friend @alienfuckeronmain for sending me EXACTLY the type of self indulgent wind-down activity I wanted on this otherwise depressing weekend! If anyone else wants to answer FORTY-NINE QUESTIONS about themselves, I’m super nosy and will read it all! @fight-the-seether @ptolemyofchaos @butchwizard @metalbutch @nyndelion @comrade-ziltoid @leatherdear @kristalknobb Enjoy, friends!
1. Do you prefer writing with a black pen or blue pen? I prefer black, but I always feel like I write neater in blue??
2. Would you prefer to live in the country or city? The city, but only if it has breathable air, green infrastructure, and decent public transit. So like... definitely no city in America lmao
3. If you could learn a new skill what would it be? The ability to quickly become fluent in another language! I’ve been struggling with Spanish for literal YEARS and it’s honestly pathetic. My brain is so stuck on English.
4. Do you drink your tea/coffee with sugar? Look pal. If I wanna drink sugar, I’m gonna have a soda, not herb water or bean juice.
5. What was your favorite book as a child? I was OBSESSED with The Wish List, by Eoin Colfer (of Artemis Fowl fame). I remember being so fascinated by how dark it was?? It’s an afterlife adventure, where the main character has to escape purgatory by atoning for her crimes of robbery and fraud and whatever. I had a crush on her, so basically this book made me want to pursue a life of crime, even though it explicitly condemns crime and depicts Hell as a very real and horrible place. I was in like fourth grade and was super morbidly curious about Hell and the possibility of going there! Lol
6. Do you prefer baths or showers? Baths... but only when I’m not actually dirty going in. A bath is leisure, not hygiene.
7. If you could be a mythical creature, which one would you be? 100% fae! I would build my dwelling within a sidhe mound, steal shiny things in the middle of the night, make bastardly little contracts for no reason, and cause harmless mayhem and mischief because mortals really are fools (go off, robin goodfellow!) Also I love mushroom circles and dancing in the moonlight.
8. Paper or electronic books? Paper all the way! I read much more content electronically, but it’s usually in the short story or article format. Books are much better in print, I think.
9. What is your favorite item of clothing? Probably my rust-brown overalls.
10. Do you like your name or would you like to change it? I’ve always hated my name but no alternative has ever stuck, unfortunately. My name is Amy, and I don’t think it fits at all. If I knew I’d never have to correct anyone on it, I’d probably just change it to Amelia?
11. Who is a mentor to you? My little brother! He’s this genius musician, and he has taught me so much about song structure, polyrhythms, guitar technique, production tricks, all kinds of trivia that really deepen my appreciation for music and the LABOR that goes into it.
12. Would you like to be famous and if so, what for? No, never, not for anything. I cherish my anonimity so much, I don’t even put searchable tags on this blog cuz I get an adrenaline spike from anxiety if too many people interact with me. I also just think fame is a fucking hideous construct. I don’t think it’s even slightly cool or desirable.
13. Are you a restless sleeper? No, I’m a fucking log. I can easily sleep for 12 hours straight. Thanks, depression!
14. Do you consider yourself a romantic person? No, actually. I’m very much in love, and it brings me lots of joy to do nice things with and for my partner! But romance feels very difficult for me to connect with. I’m super domestic, like, I love the idea of marriage but not necessarily a wedding, or a moonstruck romance or whatever. Those dramatic gestures feel very awkward for me.
15. Which element best represents you? EARTH. Specifically, like... dirt, or soil.
16. Who do you want to be closer to? I want to be geographically closer to my family. We’re thick as thieves, but we all live like 50 miles apart from each other. I miss my brothers and my parents so much, I feel so incomplete and depressed without them to hang out with, especially since quarantine.
17. Do you miss someone at the moment? See above! Lol
18. Tell us about an early childhood memory. When my little brother was a baby, he had this grey car seat with a folding mechanism which held his legs in place. It made a very satisfying clicking sound when the mechanism moved, AND when it was fully unfolded, it looked a lot like a Klingon battle cruiser. (Or so my five year old brain thought.) So! My older brother and I would take this seat out of the car CONSTANTLY so that we could unfold it and “sing” the Klingon theme music from Star Trek: The Motion Picture while we scooched our car seat battle cruiser across the living room floor, pretending to shoot phasers into the TV or the dining table or whatever else got in our way.
19. What is the strangest thing you have eaten? Gifilte fish, maybe?
20. What are you most thankful for? My family, including my wonderful partner and all the cats in our lives!
21. Do you like spicy food? Yes! But my tolerance for extreme spice decreases every year, unfortunately. So I can’t handle as much heat as I used to, but I do enjoy a good kick.
22. Have you ever met someone famous? Lmaooo I made the regretful decision to PAY FOR a meet&greet with Fall Out Boy in like 2006, which was so fucking awkward and painful, I vowed to never approach that level of lame again.
23. Do you keep a diary or a journal? TONS! I’m an obsessive record keeper. Some years I journal more than others, and I’ve found that it is super difficult to keep up with it while working full time. But it’s absolutely one of my favorite hobbies.
24. Do you prefer to use a pen or pencil? Pen for writing. Pencil for drawing, and math.
25. What is your star sign? Virgo sun, Aquarius moon, Scorpio rising 🙃
26. Do you like your cereal soggy or crunchy? Crunchy! A shallow bath in that milk is key.
27. What would you want your legacy to be? My artwork. I go through these aesthetic phases every year that I become super obsessed with/ focused on, and I’ve always meant to catalogue them in annual art journals, but I’ve NEVER FINISHED ONE! They always get pushed aside by the need to work, and I hate that so much. If I could just take a year off work and backfill all of my missed concepts into completed books, I would be so happy. But I literally have NO WAY to pay for that, absolutely none. I fucking hate capitalism.
28. Do you like reading, what was the last book you read? I love to read, but finishing a whole book has been A STRUGGLE lately! Right now I’m chipping away at Tending Brigid’s Flame, which is a quaint lil devotional for the Celtic fire goddess. Very new agey, like cheesy Wiccan vibes. I love that shit!
29. How do you show someone you love them? Quality time!
30. Do you like ice in your drinks? Only if I have a straw. Ice touching my teeth kinda makes me wince.
31. What are you afraid of? Incompetance, doing a bad job, letting someone down, taking up too much space, being a nussiance, etc
32. What is your favourite scent? Incense! Especially cinnamon, dragon’s blood, and amber.
33. Do you address older people by their name or surname? I always call people, regardless of age, by the name they ask me to use. Sometimes it’s a surname or title, usually it’s a first name. I’ll ask their preference if I’m unsure. But I definitely don’t default toward a surname, that’s weird.
34. If money was not a factor, how would you live your life? COMPLETELY DIFFERENTLY!!!!!! The need for money rules literally every single hour of my entire life, and I hate it so much. I’m naturally nocturnal, but my job requires me to get up super early and sit in a car for 11 hours a day. I wake up at 5am, come home front work at 5pm, spend an hour or two trying to unwind, then go to bed and do it all over again. I hate my life! Really! I never see the stars, I never exercise, I am completely exhausted and burnt out all the time, and I barely get any quality time with my partner. If money were no object, I would sleep til noon or 1, make art and hike all day, ride my bike and stargaze all night, stay up til 4am reading and playing with my cats, and sleep like a baby. My partner and I would cook dinner for each other and watch Star Trek and collaborate on art projects and I would be so happy.
35. Do you prefer swimming in pools or the ocean? Here’s my hierarchy: Private pool > ocean > public pool
36. What would you do if you found £50 on the ground? I’d look around to see if anyone obviously dropped it and try to give it back. If I couldn’t find anyone, I’d exchange it for dollars and deposit that shit into my account!
37. Have you ever seen a shooting star? Of course!! Hundreds!
38. What is the one thing you would want to teach your children? America is evil and needs to be destroyed.
39. If you had to have a tattoo, what would it be and where would you get it? Lmao this is so cute. If you HAD TO HAVE a tattoo! I really wanna finish my damn sleeves, they’re literally 9 years in the making and barely half finished. But I’d also love more art on my legs! I DESPERATELY want Ziltoid in a lacy valentine heart on my thigh.
40. What can you hear now? Our fish tank water bubbling and my fan on full blast.
41. Where do you feel the safest? Home alone, doors locked, windows covered, lights low. I absolutely LOVE to not be seen or perceived in any way.
42. What is the one thing you want to overcome/conquer? My fear of discomfort
43. If you could time travel to another era, which one would you choose? I feel like I’d want to be a teen in the 80’s and an adult in the 90’s. Does time travel work that way?
44. What is your most used emoji? 😭 or 😎
45. Describe yourself using one word. Defeated
46. What do you regret the most? Convincing myself that math was too hard or boring (or something?) when I was in middle school. I feel like I’m actually a pretty intelligent person who could’ve totally overcome that difficulty and gone on to understand all kinds of patterns and concepts which have eluded me to this day! It’s so frustrating to try and fight that formative self-concept, which now comes naturally but ultimately sabotages me. 💀
47. Last movie you saw? I made my partner watch Troop Beverly Hills, one of my childhood faves. It’s so fun! I love chick flicks so much.
48. Last tv show you watched? Deep Space Nine. Getting through the first season has been harder than expected. It’s actually my favorite Star Trek show?? (Orrrr maybe that’s TNG, ahh! It’s so hard to choose!) But season one is so baffling and awful! Why is there so much space capitalism??! And racism? And war? And drinking alcoholic beverages? #notmystartrek
49. Invent a word and its meaning. I used to call a single strand of curly hair a “curly quink” when I was a child. Therefore, a “quink” is a section of hair, usually a particularly cute or iconic one.

So yeah hey. Since xmas is coming up and I actually have friends this year, I thought I might share my game wish list? Since games are some of the better things to get me aside from just flatout money
Like absolutely don’t feel obligated to get me anything, I just thought if someone wanted to get me something but didn’t know what I wanted, this would be a good solution?
Also you can totally go off-list, if you want, like if you know a game you think I’d like? I’ll post a list of the games I have below the cut so you can be sure I don’t already have it. I also have a PS3 and PS4, so I’m not restricted to Xbox. (Though, Xbox is my preference.)
