Watching tng really reinforces just how obsessive and codependant the tos triunvirate is. Picard and beverly clearly have history, but unless she has business there, she's never on the bridge, and riker never beams down with picard, is always one or the other on the bridge. Even deanna, despite being picard's other support, does her thing. Meanwhile, jim was dragging bones and spock, the two most senior officers after him and scotty, on every new, unknown and potentially dangerous planet. Like, we been knew but it's fun to have the confirmation

To be fair you can love someone AND find them annoying. I’m not even sure Q would take it as an insult if he won - more like an acknowledgement of his hard work.
Although more likely there’s someone on this list who you just really don’t like. And if that’s the case please try not to be mean spirited about it. You’re entitled to not like them, that’s your prerogative. Likewise it’s the prerogative of others to disagree.

"Five times. Five times Jean-Luc and the shrieking, petulant Dr. Beverly Crusher tried to make it work between them. FIVE TIMES! And each attempt another pathetic failure...Why does Jean-Luc do this to himself? To US?"
Tumblr media
"Why her and not me? I know everything, and yet, even I can't understand it."
"Know thyself, Jean-Luc.
Know me."

I have this headcanon that after Beverly left, Jean-Luc got really into research purely because he was always looking for her name in some exobiology journal.
But he knew she could be using an alias. So, he'd look for names like "Isabel Howard" and occasionally punish indulge himself in thinking she might use "Cheryl Picard."
There was only one paper in all those years that he was almost certain was hers:
Cetlari Virus: A Xenoimmunological and Humanitarian Approach
It read like her—the passion and scientific rigor, the prose, the compassion.
And then, he looked at the author: Hillary Dixon.

Just watched the tng episode where Sarek suffers from Bendii syndrome. Patrick Stewart's acting in the mind meld scene with Sarek is just phenomenal! The intensity! So good.
