(352) Megastar sex pollen fic, but with a really strong focus on how Megatron is allergic to trusting Starscream. Because... Starscream is untrustworthy. And also because Megatron REALLY disdains his own vulnerability.

But he's higher than god on sex pollen, and Soundwave is out getting milk or something, so he's faced with the alternatives of a) Starscream or b) overheating to death.

...Megatron is weighing his options.

Has anybody said yet that the Starscream from Earthspark and the Starscream from the Skybound comics are both good takes on the character? To me, they both feel like reinterpretations that adapt the source material well while keeping the goals for their stories in-mind.

Earthspark is a family show with a major theme of coping under oppressive systems, so it draws on the uncomfortable history of Starscream being used as a punching bag across the franchise, and it also focuses on the side of the character that goes back as far as G1 but has been largely untapped—the Starscream who would point out practical issues but would often be ignored (usually by Megatron, some others were better about this).

The Skybound comics so far have been focusing on the gritty reality of war, so they draw on Starscream's cruelty and ferocity and depict how truly terrifying this would make him when juxtaposed with organic life. This Starscream as leader draws from other instances in G1, in which he was temporarily leader and his arrogance made him ineffective, selfish, and cruel.

And then both series still have him being an arrogant asshole who treats his underlings poorly while also being a capable warrior on the battlefield. I feel like now is a great time to be a Starscream fan, you literally have two different great flavors of the character.

As it is obvious from my blog, I adore TFP. It is the first Transformers show I've watched (I remember watching tf content before, yet i can't remember which it was). Yet as always, I have some criticism even to my most beloved things and now I want to talk about one of these. And the name to him is Dreadwing.

Dreadwing is particularly interesting cuz he seems like one sane person in the whole Nemesis, who is undeniably loyal to the cause. Something that even Megatron isn't anymore. Dreadwing is a great example of what the decepticon should be. Fierce, strong, yet smart, noble, loyal and respectful to his own team. And this is an interesting since we've never seen this before, cuz everyone else on Nemesis strayed from this path and just using this cause as a way of manipulation. And still Dreadwing was most loyal to Megatron, with the only thing standing between him and total obedience is his love for his late brother (Skyquake, hun, sorry, but I literally forgot abt you the moment you died).

And this is a great start, but all this potential was, at least for me, wasted.

Firstly. His position which he came in the show. He was presented to us as a) a threat; b) Wheeljack's enemy/rival. And that's when my first problem starts here. Let's look at the statistics.

Optimus prime — Megatron

Ratchet — KO (or Shockwave)

Bumblebee — KO

Bulkhead — Breakdown

Arcee — Arachnid

Smokescreen — KO (why does he have a beef with every child in the group?)

Ultra Magnus — Predaking

And then Wheeljack is like — ?????

And yeah, I am upset abt lack of Wheeljack in TFP, but it's relevant to my Dreadwing rant, since all the others I've mentioned has met at least once/twice and had some resolution to their rivalry (even though not the good one), but cowboy loose cannon and a flying samurai never even mention each other after their episode. It is cuz Wheeljack really likes to disappear from the plot for Primus knows how long, while this Seeker stays through all the season 2 until my greatest disappointment came.

Secondly, Dreadwing's death is the dumbest scrap I've seen and looks like a very rude way to get rid of character. I still have no idea of why Megan chose Starscream over someone who's loyal to you to the point of disobeying to save ur tailpipe! And don't start the 'but DW disobeyed him', WING BOY WAS PROMOTED FOR IT.

Furthermore, from the moment I saw him even if I thought DW was to die, I considered it would happen in a battle with Wheeljack. It would be so interesting to see a death match between two guys, madly loyal to their friends/family/team. But nahh, Jackie never tries to go after winged edgelord ever again and never even ask if he's up to rematch.

(Also, funny how Dreadwing is so mad at SS for bringing Skyquake back to life as a zombie, but not at Bee and OP for literally killing him..... Priorities, huh.. Just another scrap u to Starscream for no reason.)

IT'S SO FUCKING BAD IN THERE DUDE IT GETS SO BAD IN SPOTLIGHT MEGATRON IT MAKES SO SICK . Okay for context Megatron was temporarily dead (or out of commission. either way his ass was gone ) and shockwave was like. making him a new body. and in the meantime starscream was leading the cons, which in theory sounds great for her, right? NO megatron had made her such a joke over the years by treating her as unserious and beating the shit out of her in front of them that they all lost respect for her, so literally NONE of them listen to her and just. since they're stranded on an asteroid, they start eating each other for energon. very fun stuff.

anyways thats the context in spotlight megatron its about when he comes back after this and dude its so fucking bad for starscream it makes me sick the entire issue is megatron just being fucking horrible to her. literally for starscreams end of things it started with her being depressed as fuck in the main room and megatron being a little bitch and she's like "i know you're here to beat the shit out of me and mock me just get on with it" and she LITERALLY GRABS HIS ARM CANON AND POINTS IT AT HER LIKE JUST DO IT I KNOW YOU WILL. And all Megatron is thinking is "oh she's already depressed this isn't gonna be fun at all :/" LIKE HELLO WHAT THE FUCK MAN. AND PROCEEDS TO JUST VERBALLY BERATE HER. FOLLOWED BY THIS PANEL LIKE CAN I FUCKING HELP YOU

Like it's just so fucking bad he's literally trying to gode her into fighting him back or saying something nasty or anything cause he doesn't think it's fun when she's just miserable like hello !!!! and she's so miserable that she's just like at this point i fucking hope you do kill me. and he's like oh well if you really wanted to die you would've fought back what you CLEARLY want is punishment so let me beat the shit out of you. and I use this part in my pinned graphic but eaugaugehaahgahgah i'm ill im ill im sick

and of course at the end of all this fucking shit he's like you're welcome and you can work on repaying me for teaching you this valuable lesson. i'm punching a wall the entire issues so fucked up it's just a mental saw trap for starscream from megatron that ends in her getting beat an inch from her life. yay!! so fun!!!!!

Soundwave or someone can be like “I’ve come to save you” and Megatron’s just like “please leave I am being held at needlepoint”

I also have the crippling desire that the terrans don’t understand why Megatron looks so tired and beat up all the time and our little bird twitch is gonna follow him into the damn woods and witness a full scale breakdown

Bonus points if Megatron breaks down into another decepticons arms because they know he’s in too much danger to risk being saved

Or if the decepticons know he’s in danger but Megatron doesn’t want them to get hurt or shadow played so he keeps pushing them away and it’s killing his mental slowly

I too need them to know there's more to this situation than meets the eye (I'm reminded of the comics they were shown, how much would those change? How much would they not change?), Twitch seeing his breakdown would hurt so much

May I suggest sg Starscream as to who Megs goes to, because I wholeheartedly love what I've seen of their IDW shattered glass dynamic and I'm imagining Starscream is immensely worried about him, and Megatron just doesn't want Starscream to get hurt in all of this

It makes sense the decepticons would know he's in danger to some degree, but it'd be cool if not all of them knew this and some still think he's some flavor of traitor because they don't know.

REWIND & CHROMEDOME

okay well i feel like this ones obvious. but it's because it's true to me i love these two. i think their dynamic is so interesting what if we decided to not end it all for the sake of each other.. but there's this strange thing happening where they know each other but not as well as before, because they're different versions of the person they knew. i'd love to go more in depth about how that shift effects them, and how they adjust and end up loving each other still but somewhat differently due to circumstance. their dynamic is so interesting i could ramble on about it but for the sake of this post i will not. as for plots i diverge a bit as for how they end up, instead him him getting stuck in his alt mode, he's working on expanding his archive to earth and other colonies connecting to cybertron! fun stuff. i'd love to write just about anything with them honestly.

TAILGATE & MEGATRON

I think these two are really funny based off the premise that Tailgate sorta missed the whole war and pretty much everything Megatron did. If I remember the time where he was before getting knocked out I think he missed everything actually. Which is really funny to me, because while Tailgate very much understands why other people are wary, he sort of... doesn't personally get it. There's a disconnect there. This is a stranger to him who he's only heard has done bad things. Obviously he gets to hear more and more about stuff he did, and see Megatron talk about it directly, all that stuff, but I feel like it's a really interesting aspect of their dynamic to discover. As seen by everything with Cyclonus at first, he's very hard to properly shake or make properly regard you as unreachable. So I think it'd be really fun and interesting to see how that plays out with these two.

okay and now i'm gonna hit you with a quick list of other ones i'd be interested in with maybe a few bullet points but nothing in depth. TAILGATE & RATCHET , because while I haven't read MTMTE in a HOT minute, I remember them having a fun friendship! WHIRL & WHEELJACK because, I don't trust myself to actually WRITE whirl until i reread the older comics and mtmte, i feel like there's history there or at the very least a very fun dynamic to be had. BUMBLEBEE & TAILGATE for the vibes I feel this in my soul. and if you'll let me cheat for a second and bring up sideblogs, i feel like this is obvious, STARSCREAM & MEGATRON. I have a MTMTE / LL verse for her, and I think it'd be super interesting to see how they'd cope with dealing with each other after the war. I have a hard time putting my thoughts into words here, but the war is lost, and I think it'd be interesting to see them navigate around each other with new circumstances. Lot of complexities to sort out between each other, trying to avoid falling back into old toxic cycles where they bring out the worst of each other. I have too many thoughts that'd make this post longer than it is, but if you'd ever wanna brainstorm something there just lmk and I'd love to discuss :]! Both for like these ideas for them and just in general cause I wanna make sure we can handshake and I don't wanna step on your toes at all ever. last but not least if i can cheat and mention a sideblog of YOURS, KNOCKOUT & STARSCREAM eaugayagah i LOVE their dynamic so bad SO BAD i think they're so interesting. I know yours is a mix, and I find that inch resting as well and would love to see how that blends together!

I sometimes think about Knockout’s thoughts and reactions to how Starscream treated him. And how he saved himself from further abuse by betraying Starscream at the end. 

Knockout who had lost everything, and who latched on to potentially the worst person he could because Starscream gave him attention. Starscream who was unpredictable, threw him under the bus, pretended to be his friend, and hit him multiple times. I think his thought process for joining the autobots was that Starscream would treat him exactly like Megatron treated Starscream if he didn’t get out. 

I also wonder how lonely Knockout was, and how severing the only existing bond he had must have been hard. I don’t doubt he cared for Starscream. He tended to him after he was beaten, even after Starscream often lashed out on him. He was always side-by-side with him, and was even going to join him towards the end. 

He didn’t hate Starscream. He didn’t dislike him. It was actually the opposite. But I think in that moment, he saw what his life would be if he stayed with Starscream. 

And he left him knowing he could potentially suffer for his crimes. I just think about the courage and fear he was experiencing
