"Edward Munson, as we lay you to rest, those of us left behind bid you farewell.” That was the closing statement as the casket carrying the body of your beloved friend descends into the ground. The final resting place for Eddie Munson.
That was two weeks ago.
You're brought back to the present by Steve snapping his fingers in front of your face.
“Oi! Hun!”
Blinking your focus is back at your shift at Family Video. You're at the front counter with Robin while Steve resumes putting away rented videos.
“You okay?” Robin asks you softly.
Turning to face her you notice her beautiful blue eyes hold sadness, fear, and a little bit of anger swimming behind them. Anger not directed at you but at someone else.
You heave out a sigh, hoping to exhale the edge of your grief, “No, I'm not, Robin… I miss Eddie so much.” Your voice is low and melancholic, one that if a demon heard you, they'd start crying.
Robin doesn't hesitate to hug you to which you hug her back. “I miss him too,” Robin says “he was a cool guy.”
Cool was definitely an understatement to describe Eddie, you couldn't help but let out a small chuckle. “He was incredible, Robin.”
Steve makes his rounds, putting away rented videos in their proper places. He is pretending he didn't hear most of your brief conversation with Robin. He felt terrible.
Even when you're present you're gone.
As he put the last rented video back in its place he heard sniffles.
“Robin…he was supposed to graduate and finally make something of himself! He was supposed to find a girl, get married, have a family! Or hell! Make it big with Corroded Coffin! He deserved so much better than the hand he got!” You didn't mean to raise your voice, your emotions were once again threatening to choke you.
Your eyes are burning, your body is trembling, and you feel your chest tightening.
Thankfully, Robin being the great friend she is, let you vent, “I know,” She sadly replied, “I didn't know Eddie that well, but from the time I spent with him, he did deserve better.”
“Yeah,” Your breathing is starting to become even, you're calming down, “I think I need to wash my face and try to calm further down.” You chuckle sheepishly, the emotional outburst has embarrassed you.
“Want me to come with you?” Robin asks, kindness dripping from her voice like honey dripping from a comb.
Shaking your head you smile at Robin; the appreciation is there though the smile does not reach your eyes.
“I'll be okay, Robin. Thanks anyway.” And with that you depart to the ladies restroom, opening and closing the door with a semi-loud squeak.
Once you were out of sight, Robin called out to Steve, “Hey, dingus!”
Jumping slightly from being startled, Steve maneuvers to where Robin is at the front desk.
“What’s up?”
“Don't ‘What’s up?’ me, Steve!” Robin impersonates Steve with immaculate precision, “You gotta help our girl out. I've never seen her so miserable...” Robin's voice drops, her eyes are glossed with unshed tears, it's like her skin is acting as a conduit for your grief.
“I want to help, I do, I have no idea where to start.” Steve leans against the counter, his shoulders slump as he lets out a sigh of rumination.
“We need to think carefully about this. This is not a simple matter.” Robin adds, wanting to brainstorm with Steve on how best to aid you. “She's getting her emotions out, that's a start.”
“Maybe I could take her to Eddie's grave? I know it hasn't been long but maybe if she sees him…” Steve trails off not finishing his sentence, “then again, maybe it's too soon for her.”
“A good idea! Do you think Mike and the others would be willing to help?”
“Possibly,” Steve considers Robin's idea, commiting said thought to memory, “but I think we should wait to ask them, at least for a bit while I take the brunt of it.”
Robin nods in agreement,”I wish I could help her too, ya know?” Robin bangs her head against the store counter “Dammit Eddie! You weren't supposed to die!”
“Robin, if there is an afterlife, I hope Eddie can see how much he matters…or mattered.” Steve dismally corrected himself, he's not used to talking about someone past tense.
“I hope so too.” Robin agrees, sharing the same sentiment exactly.
“She needs to know that we are here for her.”
“Well, yes, we are,” Robin concurred, making deliberate emphasis on ‘we’ “but I think maybe you should be the one to help her, at least with the brunt of her grief.” She gives Steve a knowing look.
“Huh? W-what do you mean?” Steve's eyes look anywhere but Robins piercing blue ones.
“You like her, dingus.” Robin's lips curve up into a smirk.
Steve blinks at her as a blush creeps up his face, “Uh..”
“You can bear the brunt of it because she's precious to you.” Robin says matter-of-factly.
“S-she's just–” Steve stammers, trying to find the right words.
“A girl you want to kiss,” Robin finishes his sentence even though it most likely wasn't what he wanted to say.
Steve sighs, “It's true, I do like her a lot but..”
“But?” Robin questions, raising a brow, resting her elbows on the counter and her chin on her open palms.
“She's going through enormous grief and I wouldn't dream of taking advantage of that,” Steve declares candidly, he'd never under any circumstances try anything with you until you were one hundred percent better, “I'll do what I can to help her no matter what!”
Robin whistles, “Wow, Steve, I'm impressed.” she'd never imagine King Steve of all people would become so considerate of others, not just to her but you.
“Thanks,” he smiles. “I should probably get ready to ask her to come with me after work.”
“Why do you need to get ready?” Robin questions, wondering what in the world could he have to prepare himself for.
Steve takes several deep breaths, “Oh!” He exclaims, he'd just got an idea.
-
Washing your face in one of the bathroom sinks you gaze at your face in the soiled mirror, eyes swollen and absent of life.
“I miss you.” You say quietly, deadpanned.
Who were you talking about? Eddie?
The girl you were before his death?
Both?
You felt as though some part of you was laid to rest alongside Eddie.
It's only been two weeks but you still can't help but wonder how long you'll be this way.
A few years?
Decades?
You can't fathom that much time grieving.
The thought alone brought more tears to your eyes but you squeezed your eyes shut, you will yourself not to shed them.
Exhaling out a breath you didn't know you were holding you give yourself a small pat on the back; stopping yourself from crying certainly was not easy.
“Brace yourself, y/n. Gotta get back out there and face Robin and Steve.” Hopping up and down in an attempt to hype yourself up you lightly smack your face with both your hands.
“Come on! You got this!” This time you shouted at your reflection, hoping she would listen to you.
Turning brisk on your heel you make your way out of the bathroom, your Nikes make a slight squeaking noise on the linoleum flooring. Opening the door you're greeted by the grinning face of Steve Harrington.
“Hey!”
“H-hi?” You're taken aback by his unusual cheerful attitude.
“I was thinking, something I'm bad at I know,” his comment had earned a chuckle from you; butterflies erupted in his stomach, “I want to take you out after work.”
“So,” you tilt your head, “like a date?”
“Uh..” Steve blushes, clearing his throat, “no, nothing like that. I want to go see someone with you.”
“Sure? Why not?” As perplexed as you are, going out with a friend is something you need to do for yourself.
“Great!” Steve's smile gets impossibly bigger.
His grin made you smile automatically back.
Steve could see that your grin didn't reach your eyes, it was something automatic; a mask to let others know you were okay.
“Alright, meet me outside my BMW after our shifts are done!”
“Okay.”
“Great!” Steve glanced at Robin who gestured at the clock ticking above them, “Shit! It's almost time for our last break! Let's go!” Steve turns and heads to the break room, you and Robin follow suit.
Entering the break room you sit down, out a folded sheet of paper and pen you pull out from the breast pocket of your Family Video vest and begin writing.
All your emotions, pain, tears, things you've experienced in the Upside Down you pour into the letter. You don't care that you're making grammatical errors, it is imperative that these feelings come out. You miss Eddie, you miss him terribly. You keep expecting he'll pop out somewhere and say “Surprise, sweetheart. I'm alive!” But you know that's impossible.
Meanwhile, Steve and Robin from the other side of the break room are formulating a plan to help you further.
“Steve, you did great! She's not quite a shell of her former self anymore!” Robin's eyes shine in delight, happy to see her friend slowly but surely getting better.
“But I haven't done anything yet.” Steve dismisses his actions as though they were nothing, but Robin noticed an immediate change in your countenance.
“Take it from me, I've been around her longer than you at the front desk. After Eddie's death she's been something like a zombie, not even living just existing.” Robin explains, this is how she's seen you recently.
You don't listen to much music, read, go to the arcade, swim or any of the things you used to be so excited about doing. Until now, you've picked up another hobby you used to do: write.
“So, she's making progress?” Steve tentatively asks.
Robin playfully scoffs, “Yes, dingus!”
Once you've finished writing down your thoughts as thoroughly as you could at this time, you heave out a sigh, deflating like a balloon. You fold up your letter and stuff it into your jeans.
A large hand made contact with your shoulder, you looked up to see its owner, it's Steve grinning down at you, “You okay?” he asks, still smiling but his brown eyes hold concern and compassion for you.
Smiling back at him you say, “As good as I can be, I guess.”
“Better than nothing!” Steve bellows, his hand moves to your back, “I'm here for you, no matter the time of day or night for that matter. If you need to talk, call me and I'll come pick you up! I want to help get you through this.” Steve removes his hand from your back and crouches down so he is eye level with you so, “Will you let me?” His voice brims with kindness.
Surprised by Steve's actions, you can only look at his face as the answer falls from your lips, “Yes, of course Steve.” You needed the support right now, “Thank you, Steve and I'm sorry.” You didn't want to be a burden to him, or to anyone that's why you were taking your grief on alone.
“Don't ever apologize for needing help every now and then. We'll get through this together.” Steves’ eyes shine brightly with sincerity.
“Thank you.” You thank him once again for his offer to help you.
Glancing down at his watch Steve comments, “We have to get back out there! We only have two hours left of our shift!” Steve looks at you once again, “Can you make it? It's just two more hours. You know, you'd better stick with me, I don't want you to be alone.” A smile as bright as the sun graces his handsome features.
“But Robin–” you glance at Robin who had been watching the entire exchange, she is grinning and giving you a thumbs up with her freshly manicured nails. “Alright, I'll stick with you.”
You'd never know it but Steve's insides are dancing the conga. “Okay!” Steve stands upright, “Time to get back to work, Robby!” You chuckle softly at the nickname Steve calls Robin. Rolling her eyes in annoyance, Robin then smiles at the both of us, “Y/n, we are here for you, and I'm positive the kids are too.”
Another smile that doesn't reach your eyes pulls at your face when you think of the kids, especially Dustin, “I know, thank you, Robin.”
Exiting the break room you tug gently on Robin's work vest, she turns to face you,“If you need me, please call me up to the front.”
Robin chuckles, “Y/n, this has been one of the slowest days, the earthquake really messed with everyday life in Hawkins. I mean, Steve removed and re-stocked the videos out of sheer boredom…I'm surprised he didn't alphabetized them.”
Wait, Steve did what?
Robin must've seen the face you're making, “Don’t look so shocked. It's been a long time coming he does some actual work rather than fail at flirting with the girls that come by.” Robin snorts out a laugh.
“Really? Wow.” You were shocked, you had no idea what was happening around you. The shock manifested itself as a wake-up call.
The world hadn't ended because Eddie Munson had died.
“Yeah, well you better tail Steve the rest of our shift. I don't want to keep you all to myself.” Robin playfully slapped your shoulder.
“I will, I mean,” you look around the store, there are no customers, “it's not like we're busy.”
“There ya go!” Robin beams, walking away from you back to her post at the front counter.
Walking around Family Video you find a familiar head of chestnut hair standing up to the heavens and standing next to a pile of tapes. Upon closer inspection he seems to be concentrating on a particular video in his hands, it's a title you recognize.
“Carrie, huh?”
Your voice broke Steve out of his trance, he blinked before turning his head to face you he smiled instantly, “Yeah, I'm curious about it.”
Having watched the movie several times during your horror nights with Eddie, you knew your stuff about this film, “About what?”
“Well, this Carrie girl, what's her deal? Is she a monster of some sort?”
You couldn't help but chuckle at Steve's genuine cluelessness, “No, she's not, she's just a normal girl, well fundamentally speaking.”
Your words make Steve furrow his brows in thought, “What does that mean?”
“It means she's a girl that has telekinesis, she moves objects using her mind.” Explaining her powers to Steve you notice his eyebrows relax, that's one answer he's gotten.
“Oh? Wow! El is like her!” Steve grins, his white teeth shine brightly.
Curious as to who El is, you question Steve, “Um, who?”
Steve facepalms, “I'm sorry! I completely forgot you haven't met her yet.” Steve puts away the copy of Carrie in its proper place and gestures to the pile of tapes next to him, “Help me put those away and I'll explain it.”
Nodding your head you maneuver to the tape pile and take the first one on top Friday the 13th. Furrowing your brows you glance around the aisle, you're in the horror/suspense section. Placing the movie where it belongs Steve starts his explanation.
“She is a friend of the kids, a rather extraordinary one at that. She has telekinesis too, but it takes a lot out of her. You have to meet her!” Steve excitedly expressed.
Pacing back and forth putting videos away you let Steve's words penetrante your mind.
A girl with supernatural powers?
This you gotta see!
“Yeah, I'd like that.”
“Good! It's settled then!” Steve puts more tapes away.
Two Hours Later…
Finally your monotonous shift has ended, you, Robin, and Steve head out the door together.
“What an eventful shift.” Robin comments, her tone laced with sarcasm.
Steve held in a laugh while you looked at the sky. It was still bright out, the sun hadn't reached the horizon. The sky had taken an orange glow making cumulus clouds above you appear pink. Several birds fly over the three of you, headed toward a destination you didn't know, you want to guess away from Hawkins.
Fly little birds, get away from here. You think to yourself.
You feel a tap on your shoulder, “Ready to go?” Steve beams, holding up the keys to his BMW.
“Yeah, I am.” You smile back.
“Great! See you next week Robin!” Steve hugs Robin who over his shoulder made a look of disgust that made you laugh.
Robin decided to make it her mission to make you laugh until the grief passed you. She noticed it was a genuine laugh but not quite like the ones she heard before Eddie's death.
That's a start. Robin thought to herself.
Steve pulled away and Robin had a smile plastered on her face, “What did you do?”
“Nothing, dingus!” Robin feigns ignorance, holding her hands up in mock surrender.
“See you next week, Robin. Take some time to chill out this weekend.” Hugging your friend, you impart these words to her, they're sincere.
“You too, Y/n.” Robin hugs you back, you feel her support and care for you in her embrace. She's such a great friend.
“Are you sure you'll be okay going home by yourself? I'm sure Steve won't mind dropping you off at home first.” You gently nudge Steve with your elbow.
“-W-wha–huh? Oh, yes of course.” He agrees albeit a little disappointed.
“Great! Thanks guys!”
-
Steve pulls into Robin's driveway. Being the gentleman he is, Steve opened Robin's side door after putting his car in ‘park’ and escorted her to her porch, he even waited until she was fully inside her home.
After bidding their final goodbyes Steve walks back to his car and through his windshield tells you to move to the passenger side.
Unbuckling your seatbelt you open the rear door, exit out of the car only to find the passenger door open, Steve gave you a radiant smile that made your face heat up, “For you, ma'am.”
“Thank you, sir.” Smiling at his playful gesture you enter the passenger side of his car, take your seat, and patiently wait for Steve to drive you to your unknown destination.
Steve enters the drivers side, checks his mirrors and looks behind him making sure things are clear, safe for him to drive. Once he saw that it was safe he backed out of Robin's driveway, put his BMW in ‘drive’ and made his way out of the neighborhood.
Once you’d made it onto one of the main roads you turn to face Steve, “Um, Steve? Who are we going to see?”
Steve, keeping his eyes on the road chuckled a little bit, “Sorry, it's a secret. Though I'm sure if you thought about it, you'd figure it out.”
Figure what out?
The answer hits you like a freight train going full force.
“Eddie…” you breathe out like the answer has stolen most of your air.
“Yeah, the man himself.” Steve makes a left turn, “Do you know what you wanna say?”
Pulling out the letter you'd written earlier, you wave it slightly, “I have some things written here.”
“Perfect!” Steve happily exclaims. He's honestly happy just spending time with you.
Making another left turn you spot a sign.
Stone Mountain Cemetery
You hadn't been here in two weeks and when you were here last Eddie– even your thoughts couldn't finish as you felt warm streaks of tears fall from your irises.
Steve took a quick glance at you and his face fell. Maybe this was too soon for you, “Do you need me to turn around? We don't have to do this.” Steve calmly reassures you, ready and willing to turn around and take you home.
Steve's words bring comfort to your distressed state. Suddenly you feel a surge of courage travel up your body.
“I have t-to do this. I-I n-need to see him.” Through your broken sobs and sniffles you say what's on your mind with determination.
You will see Eddie and tell him what you'd been feeling since he's been gone.
Steve pulls into a parking spot and sits for a minute, putting a supportive arm around your shoulders he promises, "I'm here for you. Today, tomorrow and every day after.”
Taking some deep needed breathes, you feel your rapid heartbeat beginning to steady, your tears less frequent, and your mind more focused on what you need to do.
“Thank you so much, Steve.” Leaning your head onto his shoulder you voice your gratitude for his patience and care.
He kisses your head, he feels your hair against his lips, “You're welcome, I'm happy to do this for you.”
“Steve?”
“Yeah?”
“Do you mind holding me while I read what I have to say to Eddie?”
“Not at all, hun.” He didn't hesitate in answering you.
“Alright then,” unbuckling your seatbelt, you lean out of Steve's embrace, “let's go.”
Steve follows suit unbuckling his seatbelt.
Exiting his car you look up at the sky once again, the sun is about thirty minutes to the horizon and that works perfectly for you.
Steve appears beside you, sporting a smile, “Ready?” His large hand is held out for you to take.
  Which you take right away.
“I am, lead on, Steve.” smiling back, it still doesn't reach your eyes from Steve's perspective but he's happy to be helping you in your time of need.
If you could guess how long you had been walking until you reached Eddie's grave you'd say about 5 minutes, so not long at all.
“We made it,” Steve says with a somber tone.
“Yeah…” the familiar placing of each headstone leading up to Eddie's you remember, as if you could forget such an unhappy event.
“So,” Steve scratches the back his head and gazes out into the sunset, “you know what you're gonna say.”
“I do, I mean– I did, ahh fuck it!” Taking the letter you wrote during your break you crumble it up.
 “Isn’t that important?”
“Yeah, but I'm just gonna say what's on my mind rather than this,” you hold up the crumbled note, “please hold me, Steve.”
“You got it.” Steve smiles with sadness in his eyes but puts his arm around your shoulders, pulling you as close as he can.
“Thank you.” You voice your gratitude, feeling something blossom in your chest you don't quite recognize; you'll think on that when you're not grieving.
Clearing your throat you begin, “Dear Eddie,” you pause taking a deep breath “the two weeks that past since you were laid to rest have been hell, or to be more precise, empty.” Your voice dropped an octive, feeling the sadness creep it's way up your body. “While I didn't see you die, Dustin told me how it happened, how brave you were in not running away. I always knew you were courageous.”
Chuckling softly you continue, “You said to Dustin to take care of the sheep because you– were going to graduate.” Tears pour from your eyes as Steve holds you impossibly closer.
“Honey, you're doing great.” He plants a kiss on your temple.
“You didn't deserve this fate. You deserved to have your name cleared with all of our help. Then, once you graduated, you'd get the hell out of Hawkins– or whatever you wanted to do as long as you were alive!”
Anger rose to the surface of your emotions, “Fuck the demobats. Fuck the upsidedown. Fuck Vecna. And Fuck Hawkins lab! All of them are culprits in taking those we care about away!”
Unbidden faces pop into your mind: Chrissy Cunningham, Fred Benson, Patrick McKinney, and Max Mayfield, the last miraculously survived the attack with severe injuries but you still couldn't help but think of the others that have perished that had some sort of a connection with Hawkins Lab.
From the very first peculiar thing to occur with Will Byers all the way up to Eddie Munson. Those different faces, some good, some bad all had their lives taken from them.
A large flame has been lit within your body, you clench your fists, “He’ll pay for this…”
“Hun?” Steve questions with concern in his voice.
“Eddie Munson, I promise you, your death will NOT be in vain. Vecna will be defeated, the gates WILL close and Hawkins will go back to the way it was before all this fucked up shit happened. I don't yet know how it'll happen but I will not stop until all of this hell ends.” Anger infused with determination to end the hell that's been happening has come to life within you.
Wiping away the remaining tears that made their escape from your eyes with your forearm you close, “Love your Sweetheart, Y/n.” Shoving the crumbled note back in your pants pocket your knees buckle and you begin to sob heavily.
Steve embraces you fully, letting you cry in his strong arms, “That's it, let it all out hun.” Steve gently rubs your back, he feels your body tremble, “I've got you.”
Unbeknownst to the both of you an unseen friend of you both was watching the scene unfold in its entirety, “Well, damn, sweetheart. If I didn't know better I might think you were in love with a dead guy!” Eddie lets out a hearty laugh at the very idea.
“But I hope you'll be okay…” doubt plages Eddie's mind.
“She will be fine” a voice simultaneously familiar and unfamiliar to Eddie spoke gently.
“Yeah,” Eddie had no doubt in his mind now, you will be okay. “Harringtons got her.” Placing a translucent hand on Steve's shoulder, he says.
“Don't cha, big boy?”

stevie comforting you once your fear of abandonment inevitably sets in in the relationship. reassuring you he won’t leave with words, but bc he knows you’ve been told that with empty promises so many times, he shows you every day how much he means it.
cw: talks of anxiety/anxiety attacks, talks of abandonment issues, angst but quickly followed up by sickeningly sweet fluff, stevie being the best., not proofread :(
Tumblr media
ALSO I USED y/n ONCE BECAUSE I COULDNT THINK OF ANYTHING ELSE TO CALL R. I DONT KNOW HOW I FEEL ABOUT IT SO JUST PRETEND ITS NOT THERE ☹️
your day had started out awfully. you forgot your bag at home, you spilled coffee on your sweater, and hadn’t eaten your usual bagel this morning. not that these inconveniences were affecting you now. one thing had set your mind on a spiral.
steve had forgotten to call you when he got home.
it’s not like it was a rule. no, your relationship wasn’t like that, it was always just something steve decided to do. but today he didnt. which begged one simple question that had you fall down the rabbit hole you hadn’t felt since you started dating steve.
why?
why didn’t he call you? does he not want to talk to you? is he bored of you? did he find someone else? will you ever speak to him again? what if something you did made him not love you anymore?
obviously none of these thoughts were rational and you knew that. one thing about steve is that he wasn’t like anyone you’ve ever met. when you’re with him, your worries fade completely. the thought of him possibly leaving hadn’t crossed your mind at all. and it definitely never crossed his. ever.
but what if youre being naive? what if this promise was as faulty as the others? but no. because you know steve isn’t capable of doing that to you.
but… he forgot about you?
and thats how you ended up on your bathroom floor in nothing but steve’s t-shirt, hair a mess, mascara smudged. sobbing and wallowing in your own anxiety. anxiety that you knew wasn’t warranted. but of course, thats why its called anxiety.
and then you heard his car pulling into your driveway.
oh.
he hadn’t called after work because he was driving to your house.
a wave of panic racked through your body. bolting up and out of the bathroom. you looked in your vanity mirror and audibly groaned. you heard his car door open and peeked outside, where he was already looking up at your room. he had a small bouquet your favorite flowers tucked between his arm and his side, a criminally cute smile on his face, and two coffees that you instantly recognized as your usual coffee orders. a latte for you, an iced cold brew for steve, because he is a middle aged mother at heart.
you wave before making your way to the front door, wiping your face as best you could and praying that your face isn’t puffy and flushed from crying.
you opened the door and knew that your prayers were not answered. steves face completely fell, making his way inside and setting everything on your dining room table and coming back to you at a shocking speed. his hands cupping your face while you smiled at him, trying to convey that you’re happy.
“hey, what happened? whats wrong, love?” his hand instinctively went to your forehead to check your temperature.
“no, nothing stevie its okay! im okay!” you giggled softly.
he smiles back at you before lacing an arm under your upper thigh and pulling you onto him. starting to carry you to your bedroom. burying your face into his shoulder.
“m’sorry” you mumbled into his neck, the tears starting to fall again. guilt around the anxiety you felt only a few minutes ago, because of course he was on his way to your house. only steve would prove your brain wrong by showing up at your house with flowers and coffee.
he rubs a soothing hand up and down your back, “hey, no need to be sorry, okay? none of that,” he presses a kiss to your temple before opening the door to your room. sitting you down on your bed and sitting himself on the floor in front of you. taking your hands in his and looking up at you.
“you wanna tell me whats wrong, doll?” his voice is soft and sweet, no pressure to it.
“s’ stupid,” you attempt to look away from him because you knew his eyes would make you fold, but his hand comes to your jaw and pulls it back towards him.
“it’s not stupid, if it’s making you sad it isn’t stupid, even if you’re just anxious.”
of course steve harrington can read you like a book.
“i just-“ your voice falters, but his eyes stay on you, “i just got scared that one day you’ll leave me, i know you won’t, but just thinking about it scared me,” saying it out loud sounded like a ridiculous idea. and the look on steves face only confirmed its absurdity. his eyes glossed over a little, like a confused puppy.
“baby, no- never- what- what got you thinking about that, honey?” he almost looked upset, but not at you, he looked upset at whatever had made you feel like this.
your hands came to your face in embarrassment, laughing and groaning in embarrassment.
“its embarassinggg!”
he smiled, relieved that you understood that your worries were unwarranted.
he moved up to the bed and sat beside you now, “no, its not honey, tell me.”
you looked at him through your fingers and burst into a fit of giggles. he laughs, slightly bewildered, placing his hands on your shoulders as you leaned into him.
“i thought you forgot to call me, but then i realized how stupid that was, and that made me even more anxious!”
he laughs along with you, softly though. pulling you into his chest and petting your hair. “m’ sorry baby, i didnt mean to scare yo-“ but you cut him off.
“no steve,” you placed your hands on either side of his face, “you did nothing wrong, i had a bad day and it just came up in my mind and i freaked out, i know you love me, right?”
“i love you so much, i love you so much, so much y/n. i really do. i want to spend the rest of my life with you, and whatever comes after we die, i want to us to be together there too. youre everything ive ever wanted- no, really- its like you were sent down from heaven so i could love you. if i thought you’d say yes, id take you to the courthouse- or church- or whatever- and id marry you today. i love you, all of you, and that means i love your bad days too. so- if that mean part of your brain makes you sad again ill just have to beat it up.” he finishes his exclamation with a fake flick to the back of your head and a kiss to your hand. both of your eyes glossy with eternal happiness.
“i love you stevie” you whisper, before pressing your lips to his.

“Just call me for what time to pick you up, okay?” Eddie’s voice was soft when he spoke to you, tires screeching to a halt as the van pulled up in front of the Family Video. You were shy behind the smile that nursed your lips, trying not to fully beam at him as he ran out to open your passenger door.
“Yeah, yeah, I know the deal, Munson,” you teased, hoping out with your bag thrown over your shoulder.
He stood up close in your space, nearly chest to chest with you as he reached up to tuck a strand of your hair behind your ear. He smelled like leather, the familiar scent filling your senses like a heated towel.
“Just looking out for my favorite girl,” he whispered, pecking your nose as you rolled your eyes playfully at his comment. You weren’t his girlfriend, but he loved to tease you when it came to claiming you as his. You couldn’t even pretend to be upset at it, loving the way he called you his and the pet names that followed.
“Is that what I am now?”
“My one and only.”
The look on his face warmed you up, his hair blowing in the wind as he leaned down to press his lips to yours. The kiss was soft, lips touching with the briefest sensation of want— remnants of your time spent in the hazy morning in his trailer, seated on his lap, pushing him down into the mattress.
You heard a throat clear to your right, only for you to look up and see Robin standing with her arms crossed, leaning against the glass door of the video store.
“You’re gonna be late,” she grumbled, shaking her head at the two of you intertwined. Blushing, you pulled away from him, his hand outstretching to hold yours for as long as possible while you took a few steps away. He reluctantly let go, your arms being stretched as the distance increased to be too much for contact.
“Call me!”
You nodded at him, waving him goodbye as he leaned against the van door. Meeting Robin’s side, you bumped your shoulder with hers.
“You know, you’re going to have to make a decision some day,” she said, holding the door open for you as you walked in. Your heart kicked up at her words, clearing your throat to ease away the discomfort.
“What do you mean?”
You fawned innocence, eyes batting up at her as she gave you that all knowing look. The two of you made it a few steps into the business, your eyes immediately searching for that chestnut colored mane, puppy dog eyes lingering amongst the aisles.
“You know what I mean,” she said, leaning into your ear so her words wouldn’t carry far. “They’re not dumb, you know.”
“Still don’t know what you’re talking about.” You called out behind you as you made your way around the counter. She grumbled something in reply, it being lost as you as your mind was set on one thing.
You gave her a cheery smile, walking to the back office to place your things down. Immediately upon entering, there he was— Steve, your other situation, if you could call it that. The serious look on his face immediately flipped around upon laying his eyes on you, teeth bared in a smile with his eyebrows raised.
It wasn’t supposed to be like this, no. You didn’t mean to be playing both sides of the fence, Eddie on one hand, reserved for late nights and early mornings, Steve on the other, day time charades and afternoon picnics.
It just happened. Maybe somewhere along the mysterious shit that always happened around Hawkins where you got to spend time with reformed king more or the effort to clear the Munson boys name, you happened to fall for the two of them. At the same time. It wasn’t your fault, okay? They were both too pretty to make a decision, too good to you in their different ways, too much to be able to put down.
“Hi, pretty girl,” he muttered before crossing the floor to meet you in an embrace. You felt safe in his arms too, chest broad in muscle, cinnamon scent encompassing you. It was different than Eddie’s, yet all the same. “You’re late.”
You looked up at him, chin at his chest as his eyes stared down at you. Sleep wore on his face, big eyes drooping slightly, exhaustion from the early morning showing.
“Only 5 minutes,” You pouted, bottom lip jutting out. “You’d cover for me right? My ride was a little hectic.”
“You know I always do.”
He pressed a kiss to your forehead, pulling you out of the break room to meet Robin on the floor. She was labeling VHS cases, tongue poked out at the corner of her mouth as she focused on getting the stickers straight. Following his lead, he settled next to her, dividing the pile while you took a seat on the countertop, opening a box of candy that had just been shipped in.
Your legs swung in front of you, hitting the backboard of the counter you sat on. While the three of you focused on morning duties, your foot hit Steve’s thigh every now and then, smirk on your lips as you knew he would get “frustrated” eventually and “snap”.
“Babe,” he warned, pushing your foot with his hip as he threw a tape down on the pile. You laughed under your breath, grabbing packs of Red Vines out of the case.
“What am I doing?” You cocked your head to the side, not yet wanting to look up at the look he was giving you. You tapped him again, toe pointed as his hand reached down to grab your ankle.
“Playing dumb is really your strong suit,” Robin commented, raising her eyebrows as she looked at the two of you. You shot her a look, urging her to not continue as Steve rose an eyebrow.
“Rob, shut up,” you laughed, throwing the balled up packing tape you had accumulated from the boxes at her. She dodged it as she laughed, throwing her own scraps from labels towards you.
Steve’s grip on your ankle tightened slightly, he slid in between your parted legs, hips pressed flush against the counter as you tried to maneuver out of the grip, laughing as he locked you in.
“Playing dumb? You’re the smartest girl I know,” he teased, helping you unpack the candy while still seated between your legs. Robin made a face at you from behind him, immediately going serious when Steve turned around to give her a look. She loved teasing you whenever she had the opportunity, all jokes in good fun, no matter what she thought of the predicament you found yourself in.
“That’s so rude, Harrington,” she said, rolling her eyes as she took a stack of tapes to re-shelf. You watched as she walked away, getting lost in an aisle closer to the door.
He ignored her, placing his hands on your thighs as he abandoned the candy. You held a box of licorice in your hands, toying at the corners as you looked at him. The look on his face grew more serious, eyes squinted as he pursed his lips.
“I wanna know though… what are you so good with playing dumb at that Robin had to be oh, so mysterious about?”
Your heart lurched at his question, eyes darting down to look at the blue box in hand. The corner ripped underneath your hand, plastic being pulled back as you found sudden interest in it.
“Nothing.”
He hummed at the short answer, fingers coming up to pull your chin to focus on him. You met his eyes, chocolate brown wide as you melted at the look.
“Is that so?” Steve’s voice was low, a deep grumble coming from his chest. His fingers found your hips, pulling him into you quickly that made you yelp, candy flying everywhere as your hands flew up to grab at him.
“Steve! Look what you made me do!”
“You still didn’t answer me.”
You groaned, looking at the mess of red candy that laid around you. He picked up a stick of licorice, taking a bite out of it before feeding it to you. You smiled around it, hand coming up to rest at his chest as you went to push him away from you. His scent of cinnamon hit you, preventing you from the motion, instead curling your fingers into the fabric of his striped shirt, sat under his vest. You dragged it up the length of his body, settling into his hair as you curled a piece of it between your fingertips.
“Hey, uhhh… you guys…” Robin’s voice was wary as she spoke across the floor, yet the two of you didn’t register it, focused on each other.
She hurriedly made her ways towards you guys, foot steps coming closer as her gaze was focused on something outside the doors. You took another bite of the candy from Steve’s fingers, looking up at him through your lashes as you made a show of it.
The bell above the door rang, signaling entry as the two of you remained distracted.
“You forgot your jacket in my…”
Your heart stopped. You recognized that voice. Eddie stood there, your jean jacket in his hand as he faltered his steps, feet away from the counter. The look on his face dropped, eyes glaring at Steve who stood in front of you. Pushing him away, you hoped off the counter.
Robin stood frazzled behind him, eyes wide as her eyes glinted between the three of you. Her mouth was dropped open, cringing at the awkward situation it was.
“Steve.”
The tone of the name had you cringing, realizing that Eddie saw you at no fault, this was up to Steve. He slowly made his way up to the counter, jean jacket being placed on the flat surface as he stared down the younger man.
“Than—” You cleared your throat. “Thank you, Eddie.”
He hummed in response, not breaking the staring contest that he found himself in. Steve shifted uncomfortably, quickly swallowing down the piece of candy he had.
“You had her jacket in your van?” The realization of the situation began to dawn on him, voice dripping with the same tone Eddie had. It was all directed towards the long haired man, leaving you out of it.
“Mhmm,” Eddie said, crossing his arms over his chest. You felt small between them, both boys beginning to size each other up. “She must have left it last night when she came over.”
You shot a look at Robin, begging her to help you as you didn’t know what to do. She shrugged at you, mouthing ‘told you so’ before turning on her heel, scurrying away from the budding altercation. Sighing, you placed a hand at your forehead, the temperature in the building rising suddenly.
“Came over?” Steve asked, stepping up to the counter, closer to him. You were grateful for the separation between them, not daring to think about what would’ve happened if it wasn’t there.
“That’s right, pretty boy.” You don’t think you had heard Eddie ever speak to Steve in that manner, them becoming ‘friends’ in the most recent months.
“That must have been after our trip in my car.” Steve’s eyebrow shot up. “To Skull Rock.” His palm pressed on the counter, leaning over in his direction. “After sunset.”
You could’ve passed out right then and there if it weren’t for the way Eddie suddenly smiled at him, teeth bared in a grin you had only seen reserved for you. He walked even closer to the counter, face inches away from Steve’s at this point.
“Touché, Harrington.”
With a quirk of his eyebrow, he turned away, walking towards the door. His hand shot out to push it open, lingering in the frame before turning to face you.
“See you later, sweetheart. Pick you up at 6, normal time?”
The subtle nod of your head had him smiling even wider, the chains around his neck clinking together as he tilted his head in response.
“She’s got plans with me at 7, Munson!” Steve’s voice shouted out to him as he exited, a loud ‘HA!’ left behind in his wake. The counter swung shut, bell ringing as the shutters on the door rattled.
You just stood there for a minute, wondering what the fuck you got yourself into. It wasn’t supposed to be like this, most definitely wasn’t supposed to be discovered like this. You closed your eyes, leaning onto the counter with your elbows, head rested in your hands.
“You are so fucked,” Robin laughed, returning to your side. You just nodded in response, palms digging into your eye sockets. Stars floated behind your closed lids, dancing in the darkness behind them.
“Shut it, Robin.”

☟ Continue below the fold ☟
Graduation practice was held inside the school gym. You'd been there for an hour at least, waiting for it to start and then going through the list of names to get everyone in the right seat and spot in line. They were on F now. Your leg bounced where you sat, but from boredom, not from nerves. While everyone else was panicking about who they would have to sit next to for the entire ceremony, you knew who you would be next to—and you were happy with it. It was the same boy you were already sitting next to: Steve Harrington.
It was a little weird, you thought, that it all worked out so perfectly. That there were no other Hs separating Harrington and Henderson. That Harrington was the one you had gotten so close to over the past four years, but particularly close to in the last semester alone.
The vice principle got through the Fs and into the Gs. Soon.
"You alright?" he asked you, seeing your bouncing leg.
You nodded. "Just impatient."
Steve smirked, a signature King Steve smirk he hadn't quite shaken. "Got somewhere to be, Henderson?"
"I have to pick up Dustin from Mike's, they all had a sleepover last night. Not that Dustin minds staying over a little longer, but Mom does. She doesn't like him being out of her sight for too long these days."
Steve's eyes went glassy, like they did when he thought about what happened that night for a little too long. "Yeah, well... Can't blame her for that one."
"I don't," you said. "Not when Dustin still has nightmares."
Shock flickered across his face. He opened his mouth but then—
"STEVE HARRINGTON!"
He stood, grinning down at you. "See you in a minute."
You gave him a tiny wave goodbye as he walked away and waited a second for your own name to be called. The vice principle watched Steve take his seat, then looked down at his list.
"WILLIAM HARGROVE!"
Your heart stopped. What? Shit. You'd forgotten about Billy. You bit back a groan, glancing around the gym to try and spot him. There was no movement.
Of course you'd forgotten about Billy—he wasn't even here. Not to mention, he hadn't been here for eleven years. It had just been you and Steve next to each other for a solid eleven years. Steve on one side of you, and his (former) best friend Tommy on the other. Tommy had always been pissed that you separated them, but Steve had never minded, and he certainly didn't now.
"Not here today?" the vice principle said. "Alright, the next student should leave the seat next to Steve open for him." He looked back down at his list and called your name.
You walked to your spot—next to the empty seat—as if in a trance. You sat and looked over at Steve, who looked just a blindsided as you.
Your gaze dropped to Billy's empty seat. "But..."
For some reason, it felt like a betrayal. It felt like the world was ending.
You're overreacting, you told yourself. Just calm down.
But you had been next to Steve for eleven years. Every roll call they organized you by graduating class; every assembly; every Department of Education required testing. You had been in the seat next to Steve for your PSATs and SATs, stealing glances to find him sitting with his eyes huge, not a thought in his head, and trying so hard not to giggle. Then laughing about it after, when the proctors let you all leave, and the two of you exchanging a knowing look the moment you left the classroom.
Over time, especially after the demodogs, Steve grew to be something like your best friend, although, if asked, you'd probably say Nancy was your best friend. You'd grown up with her, too, when Dustin spent the night at Mike's.
(Which made you feel slightly like a traitor when, after all that had happened between her and Steve, you couldn't help but tolerate him enough to like him.)
But you also knew what happened that night in the Byers' house. You knew Billy and Steve had gotten into a fight bad enough to knock Steve unconscious and leave him banged up and bloody. You knew Billy hated him more than ever after that, even though it had been Max who finally knocked Billy out, and you knew it was the promise Max extracted from Billy that kept him from trying to finish the fight with Steve "properly."
So you knew that the look on Steve's face was not just from being separated after eleven years. You knew it was also from terrible fear, overwhelming fear.
The vice principle had gotten to the Js. You hadn't heard any of them, hadn't even noticed Tommy H. sit next to you. You just stared at that empty seat where Billy should have been—where you should have been.
~❊~
You considered yourself fond of Steve Harrington.
He'd saved your brother's life, after all, and the lives of Dustin's friends. Dustin had wasted no time in telling you just how great his new hero was, despite the fact that he was falling asleep in the back of the car when you'd rushed to Steve's house to pick him up, late at night.
"And he took his bat—the one I told you about, with all the nails, that one—and he just started bashing with it. And then, and then, and then, when the demodog got on the roof of the bus, he pushed us away so it couldn't kill us!" He smiled sleepily in the back, visible in your rearview mirror. "You shoulda been there. You shoulda seen it! He was awesome, just...just so awesome... So bitchin'."
You would have reprimanded him for his language (even though it wasn't going to stop him), but he was already asleep, without even finishing his story.
Had it surprised you? A little bit. The King Steve you had known was nothing like the Steve in Dustin's story, but you didn't doubt Dustin. You'd seen a change in Steve the past semester or so. But you'd sat next to him for eleven years, gotten to see a side of him that he didn't let the rest of the school see. And when you'd gone to pick up Dustin, the boy before you was deserving of your sudden fondness for him.
"Hey," he said, greeting you from where he leaned against his car, next to the open door revealing Dustin in the back. "I would have waited for you at the Byers', but I know this is closer, and it's late, so—"
Dustin shouted your name, hopped out of the car, and ran to you, hugging your legs tightly. He'd pretended to be fine when Steve called, but you could tell he was terrified and glad the whole thing was over from how tightly he hugged you.
You looked up at Steve, leaning down just enough to wrap your arms around Dustin's shoulders. "I can't thank you enough, Steve, really." He waved away your thanks, but you talked over him. "Seriously, Steve. Thank you. If anything had happened to him, I would've..." You looked down at Dustin, at a loss for words. "I don't know what I would've done."
"Yeah. Just..." Steve shrugged. He seemed embarrassed to be standing at his car, giving back your brother like two divorced parents and their child. "He needed help and...I was around."
You prodded Dustin toward the car. "Go get in the car. The back, I've got too much stuff in the passenger seat."
He nodded, stifling a yawn and heading to the car without protest.
You looked back at Steve. "Thank you. Again."
Steve nodded, his eyes locked on yours. "Any time."
Without really realizing it, you closed the distance between you and Steve and threw your arms around him, squeezing him tightly and trying not to cry into his shoulder. He stood frozen for a moment, but then his arms came around you and squeezed. For some reason, you remembered he was dating Nancy Wheeler at that exact moment.
"Hey..." His voice was impossibly soft. "Hey, it's okay. He's okay. They're all okay."
You pulled away from him, sniffling and wiping your eyes. "I... I'm sorry. I don't know why I..." You shook your head. "Long, hard day, I guess."
"Don't worry about it," he said, in a tone so gentle and kind that you didn't.
So yes—you were fond of Steve, and that fondness grew when he visited more and more and more often to visit Dustin, or take him somewhere when you couldn't, and you learned through Dustin's endless chattering that Steve and Nancy had broken up a while ago, so you felt a little less guilty about the hug.
You considered Steve your best friend. You might have considered him more than that, if not for your friendship with Nancy.
(Although, did that really matter, when she was happy with Jonathan and comfortably over Steve?)
But you were far less fond of Billy Hargrove.
In fact, you were quite positive that you despised Billy Hargrove.
Even before knowing what he had done to Steve, to your brother and his friends, you had hated him. You had seen him antagonize everyone, from the poor, already outcast nerds, to the popular clique like Steve. Everybody suffered at the hands of Billy, one way or another. Even Max—or, perhaps, especially Max.
Regardless, you hated Billy. And now you had to sit between him and Tommy H, instead of next to your best friend? God, these were going to be a rough couple of hours.
~❊~
On your way out of the gym, you found Steve waiting for you at the door.
"I know you've gotta go pick up Dustin, but after that, do you wanna—"
"Steve, I will do anything you want as long as you let me vent. I can't believe I'm stuck next to Billy Hargrove," you complained.
He snorted. "Yeah, believe me, you're not alone there. Jesus, I wanna punch him again."
"Hey." You put a hand on his chest, stopping him. "Don't start anything you can't finish."
Steve brushed you off and kept walking. "I didn't say I was going to, just that I want to. And, believe me, I really, really want to."
"We'll just ask Max to do it."
He groaned. "Don't remind me that I needed a twelve-year-old to fight my battles for me."
"She's thirteen." Steve gave you a look. You giggled. "Alright, alright. I'll leave you alone."
He pushed the front door of the school open and held it for you, following you out. "Okay, so, you need to vent, I want to go out—milkshakes later?"
"Yes, please," you nearly groaned. "But you do realize Dustin is going to want to come, right?"
Steve rolled his eyes. "You don't have to tell him. Just...bring him home and I'll pick you up at one?"
You rolled your eyes back at him. "The instant you show up at our door, Dustin's Steve-senses are going to tingle and he's going to hop in the front seat before I can. He's practically attached at the hip to you."
Steve laughed. "You have a point there. Alright, fine—Dustin, too."
You split away from him to head to your car, only for him to follow you. You realized he'd parked next to you. "We'll meet you at Benny's!" you said, getting into the front seat. He nodded slowly and waved you off. You returned the wave and left the school parking lot behind.
It was only after Steve was just a figure in your rearview mirror that it dawned on you he'd phrased the whole thing differently from just a regular hang-out with the group.
"But after that—"
"I want to go out."
You glanced back out your window, not daring to identify meaning of the twist of anticipation in your chest.
~❊~
Dustin slurped loudly on his almost-finished milkshake. You and Steve, who were only halfway through your own milkshakes, made eye contact over your glasses and giggled.
Your little brother looked up from his glass. "What? What's funny?"
"Nothing," the two of you said in unison. You glanced back up at him and your stomach did flips. The expression on his face looked like your fondness felt. It looked like the face Nancy had described to you, back when she was still sort-of in love with Steve—before Barb died, and before the Upside Down.
You and Nancy lay spread out on her bed, your legs hanging over the end of her bed, her feet curled up behind her, her knees at her pillows. Your hears were right next to each other, turned toward each other so you could see the huge smile on Nancy's face.
She was half an hour deep into telling you about her date with Steve. "And he just...he had this look on his face, you know? Like there was nothing else that mattered. Like I was the only thing left in the world. The only girl left." Without even realizing it, she had brought her hand up to her hair, curling it in her fingers. "His eyes, they were so...so soft and so open. And his hair was falling into his face, he'd been blowing it out of his eyes for hours, it was so cute, ridiculously cute, but he stopped trying to get it out of his face when I giggled at him."
You giggled at her. "You are so in love with him, admit it!"
Her grin got impossibly bigger. "That...that's the thing. I think he wanted to say it to me."
Your eyes widened. "He was gonna tell you he loved you?!"
"I think so," she whispered. "But then the door opened, and it was loud, rowdy teenagers, so we just glanced over at them and started to laugh and—" She giggled. "And then it was gone. But it was there. He wanted to say it to me." She paused and, in a whisper, added, "And I think I wanted to say it back."
You shrieked with joy, reaching for her and tickling. "Nance, oh my God!"
She giggled, batting her hands away. "Stop it, stop it, I can't breathe!"
"Have you told Barb yet?"
Nancy's mood darkened a tad too much for your liking. "I don't think she'd like it. She's not a...huge fan of Steve."
"Oh, come on, if you're happy, she'll be happy for you, right?"
Nancy rubbed her arms. "I don't know. I hope so?"
"Just tell her, Nance, she'll be okay. She'll get it." You grinned at her again. "Oh my God, I can't believe it, you're in love with Steve Harrington!"
You tore your eyes away from Steve, looking back down at the milkshake he had insisted on buying for you.
"Do you think they're going to say our middle names when we graduate?"
"Huh?" You looked up. That expression of Steve's was gone. "Our middle names?"
He shrugged. "Yeah. You know, we're just walking up and they're saying our whole names."
You blinked at him.
"They're supposed to," Dustin said beside you. Your heads turned toward him.
"What?"
"They're supposed to say your middle names. At least, most high schools do it for graduation. Did they not do it during rehearsal today?"
"No," Steve said. He groaned, thumping his head into the table. "Damn it."
"Why?" you asked, giggling at his melodrama.
He lifted his head back up, sipped on his milkshake, and said, "I hate my middle name. I hate it! It's so...stupid."
You bit your lip, trying not to laugh again. "Well, now you have to tell me what it is."
Steve scoffed. "Absolutely not."
You leaned forward across the table. "Tell me."
"No," he insisted.
"Yes!"
"No way!"
You found Steve's foot with your own under the table, making him jump. "Come on, Stevie... Just tell us!"
"No!"
"We're gonna find out anyway," Dustin piped up from beside you. "They're gonna say it at graduation!"
Steve shook his head resolutely. "No. They might not, because they didn't at practice, and if they didn't, I'm not embarrassing myself by telling you now."
You rolled your eyes at him. "It can't be that bad. No parent would name their child something that awful."
He snorted. "You have clearly never met my parents."
"No, I have not, but now I would like to," you said. You'd heard him complain about his father being a "grade-A asshole" before, a phrase Nancy had confirmed he'd used multiple times about his father, but you'd never seen just how bad he was.
Steve shook his head, going back to his milkshake. "No, you don't," he said quietly. The look in his eyes—like a sad, lost, kicked puppy—shut you up effectively. So you let it go, drinking your milkshake happily.
Dustin twirled his straw around in the remnants of his whipped cream. "Did I tell you about the project Mr. Clarke gave us? I might need help setting it up, but he wants us to make a machine out of stuff we have around the house."
Steve brightened. "Is it a Rube Goldberg machine? I remember those! I think I used mine to open the door to my patio..."
"Yeah!" Dustin grinned. "Mike, Lucas, Will, Max and I have a contest to see which of us can make the best one. I already know Mike's getting Nancy's help, and Will's getting Jonathan's, and I think Max and Lucas are collaborating to make two separate projects, so I could really use you guys to help..."
In amongst Dustin's chatter, you glanced toward Steve, finding a small smile on his face as he watched the kid talk animatedly. Dustin pulled a napkin toward himself and started sketching out vague plans for his machine. You felt Steve's foot move beside yours. You glanced over at him as he started playing a subtle game of footsie with you under the table.
You stifled a giggle, smiling at him in a way that was far too friendly—or, rather, not friendly enough. That look came back on his face, the lovey dovey look Nancy had gushed so much over. You understood why now. Had the roles been reversed, you would have gone straight to her to tell her all about the way Steve Harrington looked at you like he was in love with you.
That tight feeling in your chest came back, a simmering, traitorous hope nestling in your heart and not once listening to the screams of your brain that you should not, absolutely should not, fall in love with your best friend's ex.
Steve propped his head up with his hand, that dreamy look in his eyes intensifying. His lips pursed slightly before they fell apart, pure wonder in that small, involuntary motion.
To hell with not falling in love with your best friend's ex.
You lifted your foot a little higher, catching the cuff of his jeans and slowly but surely tugging up. Steve gulped, pink dusting his cheeks. You felt a brief but distinct shiver of glee.
Dustin pushed his empty cup away from him, the scraping on the table drawing your attention away from Steve. For a moment, you feared Dustin had caught sight of your not-so-subtle flirting and was about to call you out on it, but then he yawned.
"Can we go home?" he asked you, his sudden tiredness evident in his voice.
"You didn't sleep at all last night at Mike's, did you?" you asked with a sigh. "Because if you had, this sugar would be keeping you bouncing on the walls for the next four to five hours."
He shrugged. "It was a long campaign." His eyes fluttered, his head drooping. His body slid toward you, your shoulder being the only thing keeping him upright anymore.
Love and guilt crashed over you at the same time. "Oh, don't fall asleep on me here, I can't carry you to the car anymore, Dusty—"
"It's okay, I've got him," Steve said. He paid the bill in cash and got up from his side of the booth, gently pulling Dustin out from under the table and out of the restaurant. You followed, a glimmer of warmth in your chest. You'd heard Dustin and the others jokingly refer to Steve as their dad; now you could see why.
You unlocked the car for Steve and he put Dustin in the passenger's seat and buckled him in. Dustin mumbled softly—you were quite sure it was a little 'thank you'—and Steve closed the door as gently as he could.
Steve turned back to you, his hands going to his hips. "He's all yours."
"You'd make a great dad, Steve," you said gently, unable to stop yourself, or keep the gentle smile off your face. And when he smiled back at you, you felt like you had flashed ten years into the future, a mom standing and watching her husband carry their sleeping child to the car, doing everything in his power not to wake him.
"I've, uh, always wanted to be one," Steve said, the admission quiet but confident. "Ever since I knew I could be."
"Oh, Stevie..."
He rubbed the back of his neck. "What? It's just...I like the idea. Of being able to be there for someone and guide someone through life and have a family of my own, you know? Like—a big one. A big, happy family."
"I'm not judging you, Steve," you said, hearing the defensiveness in his voice. "I'm not. It's cute. It's really cute. I'm glad that you know what you want in your future."
He sighed, kicking the ground. "Yeah, well. Doesn't help to know what I want if I can't get there."
You raised an eyebrow and waited for an explanation.
Steve shrugged awkwardly, looking the most helpless you'd ever seen him. "There aren't exactly a line of girls just waiting to make King Steve's dreams come true." He bit his lip. "They just want me for a night, if they even want me at all, and then I don't—" He stopped himself short, taking a deep breath, his eyes dropping to the asphalt beneath you. "I'm sorry, this isn't... This isn't the time or place for this. I'm sorry."
You stepped closer to Steve, leaving only a few inches between you. "Hey," you said softly, bringing his gaze up from the ground and back to you. "It's okay. I understand." You caught his hand in yours. "Steve?"
He hummed, his gaze still on your hand holding his.
"You meant for tonight to be a date, didn't you?"
He blushed, but very slowly, he nodded.
Your heart fluttered in your chest. You hesitated, then said, "Do you want a hug?"
The question very nearly made Steve burst into tears. He nodded, accepting your arms around him instantly. He squeezed tightly and you returned the pressure, sensing he needed it. "I'm sorry," he whispered into your ear. "If it was weird, I'm sorry, I should have made it more clear that it was meant to be a date—"
Your hand drifted behind his hand, tangling into his hair. "Don't apologize. You don't have to apologize for wanting to be wanted, Steve. I should have known you wanted it to be just us—and not on babysitting duty." You bit your lower lip, possessed by a sudden boldness. "And, for what it's worth, I'd want you for more than a night."
He went tense and then lax in your arms. "I... What?" He leaned away from you, just enough to see your face but not enough to leave your arms. He whispered your name. "What are you saying?"
You offered him a tiny smile. "I think you know, Steve."
"Say it," he breathed. "Please. Please, I want to hear you say it."
You pressed your forehead to his as his hand lifted to your cheek, fingers brushing over your skin with a reverence you'd never felt before. "I want you for more than one night, Stevie. I want as many night as you'll give me."
The sound he made was both holy and sinful. You really hoped the windows to your car were closed, because that was not a sound you wanted Dustin hearing—especially not from Steve, not while you were wrapped up in his arms and he was in yours.
Steve moved before you did, leaning in but giving you the time and the chance to back away from him. You did the opposite, meeting him in the middle and kissing him softly.
Nancy had not done his kisses justice in her descriptions of them. Though, you had to give her credit, because it was next to impossible to find a good way to describe the gentle pressure of his mouth on yours. There was certainly nothing to compare it to, except for that heady, wonderful feeling of getting out of trouble scot-free, or that beautiful feeling when a choir sings a perfectly arranged chord in a high-ceilinged building.
You whispered his name into his mouth, a prayer on your lips, a desperate cry for more of him. He hummed into your mouth, sending shivers down your spine, and his hands gripped your hips, pulling you even closer to him and then wrapping around you once more.
"Every night, Steve," you whispered against him when he stopped kissing you to breathe, though his lips remained against yours as his chest heaved. "I want you every night."
He groaned. "Don't say that," he whispered. "Don't say it if you don't mean it."
You cupped his face in your hands. "I wouldn't have said it if I didn't mean it. I want you, Stevie. All of you, all of the time."
He whimpered. It was a beautiful sound.
"You know..." His words were choppy, split up by his heavy breaths. "If it weren't for your brother in the car, I'd take you home if you'd let me." You opened your mouth, but he put a finger your lips. "Shhh, don't tell me. Don't tell me if you'd let me. Don't let me know what I'm missing out on."
You smiled at him, toying with the hairs at the back of his head. "Kiss me one more time, Stevie. Please, baby."
He grinned. "Well, because you asked so nicely..." And his lips were on you again, and it took everything in you not to moan your relief that he had kissed you again.
Heaven. His kiss was like absolute heaven.
When he finally let go of you, the air between you had changed, filled with a pleasant glee. For the first time in a long time, you saw that Steve's eyes were bright.
"Get your brother home," he told you. "And I'll see you tomorrow. Oh, and, one more thing?"
You reached for his hand, caressing his skin. "Yeah?"
"How about we keep this between us for a few days? Just until graduation." He grinned. "Surprise everybody. I'll walk across the stage and stop to wait for you and we kiss and walk off together—"
"You're forgetting something," you said, shaking your head. "Billy's between us."
Steve's face fell. "I could...wait until he's gone?"
You laughed. "Stevie..."
He sighed. "Well, it was a good idea while it lasted, right?"
"It was cute," you agreed. "Just like you are."
Steve beamed.
"Don't worry—we'll still surprise them all," you said. "We'll just wait until we pose for photos, and right when they snap a picture, we'll lean in and you can give me a big, dramatic kiss, alright?"
"I like that idea just as much," he said, smiling. He nuzzled into you and kissed your cheek. "Get yourself home safe, hun. Okay?"
"Okay," you said. You let go of him slowly, reluctantly getting back in your car. He waited, waving to you as you pulled out of the parking lot, before he got into his own car.
About halfway down the road, Dustin stirred. "I hope the reason you took that long is because you were confessing your feelings for Steve," he said, his voice thick with sleep.
You glanced at him out of the corner of your eye. "Go back to sleep, Dustin."
"So he confessed, too," he mumbled. "Good. You need each other."
You bit back a smile. "Whatever you say, Dustin."
"Yeah...whatever I say..."
~❊~
You stood in line, your heart beating out of your chest. You were surprised no one around you had told you they could hear it.
Billy was standing in front of you, seeming ridiculously tall in his graduation cap and gown. Behind you, the cap and gown seemed to make Tommy even shorter than normal.
"STEVE EUGENE HARRINGTON!"
Your eyes went wide and your head whipped very quickly toward an embarrassed Steve. You'd heard him groan when they had first started graduating seniors by calling middle names, too, but you had not been expecting that.
No wonder he hadn't wanted to tell Dustin—the kid was never going to leave him alone about this.
"WILLIAM DAVID HARGROVE!"
Billy walked. You waited until your name was shouted into the room. You could hear Steve cheer as he went back to his seat, and Dustin cheering up in the stands. You shook Principle Higgins' hand and accepted your diploma, practically glowing and feeling on top of the world.
When you were seated and Tommy H. was following you back to his seat, you leaned forward to see around Billy.
"Eugene?!"
Steve groaned. "Shut up. Please. Please."
"I can see why you didn't want to tell us," you giggled.
Tommy leaned around you. "You know, you could've told them not to say it."
Steve's eyes went huge. "I could have?!"
He was quickly shushed by the administrator guiding students to the stage. Stifling giggles, you and Tommy sat back in your chairs, waiting for the end of the ceremony to tease him endlessly.

Lover's Lake in June—busy, overcrowded, full of children.
Lover's Lake in June past six at night—still full of children, but just the ones you were keeping your eyes on with Steve.
The party was having an adventure in the water, shouting at each other, the occasional D&D term thrown in. Max and Eleven were a ways away from the group, shrieking and holding their arms up every time the boys splashed the water too close to them.
Steve looked at his watch. "Hey, guys! It's almost eight! You've got fifteen minutes before we gotta get you home."
Max lifted up a hand, giving him a thumbs up, despite the boys not hearing a thing.
"Especially, you, Dusty, you have to go to camp tomorrow!" you called. You got no response.
"Jesus, they never listen, do they?" Steve sighed.
You leaned into his shoulder. "They listen, they just like yanking your chain."
You and Steve sat together at the edge of a dock, feet in the water, his pants rolled up to his knees and his arm around your shoulders. You held a copy of your graduation photo—the photo, the surprise photo where Steve had turned to you and kissed you right as the camera flashed.
"My mom framed her copy of this, you know," you said, handing him the photo. "It's sitting on the hearth."
He grinned. "I'm glad it turned out so well. I was worried it would be all blurry if I didn't time it right." He nuzzled his face into your temple, pressing a series of quick, gentle kisses there. "How'd Dustin take it?"
You laughed, your eyes straying to your brother, who was being tackled by Lucas. "He already knew! After I got in the car, he told me he hoped the reason it had taken me so long to get in after him was because he wanted us to be confessing our feelings to each other."
Steve snorted, loud in your ear. You shied away and he whispered a quick apology. "Of course he noticed. He notices everything."
"Not that it was hard to see we were hiding something from each other," you added, turning to catch his mouth with your own. He hummed into the kiss. "You spent all of that night looking at me with your 'I love you' eyes."
He raised his brows. "Oh, my 'I love you' eyes, really?"
You nodded, giggling at him and pressing closer to his side. You set the photo down behind you as he pulled you into a hug with both arms.
"Well, you weren't exactly the most subtle, either," Steve said, kissing your nose.
"Oh, yeah? What did I do?"
Steve brought his hand up to your cheek, brushing his thumb over your cheekbone. "Oh, you know, you get this look on your face. When you thought I couldn't see you, I guess. You'd look over and it was like...it was like you'd relax." He smiled. "Like seeing me was all it took to calm you down from whatever stress you had."
You smiled. "Yeah, I guess you do kind of have that effect on me." You ran your gaze over him. "You know...you're giving me those eyes right now."
His voice was nearly a whisper. "Good." Steve kissed you deeply, cupping the side of your face to hold you close to him. "Because I do." He squeezed your hip with his other hand. "Because I do love you."
You stared at him, mouth dropped open.
Steve turned red. "I know it's soon, but I—"
"Steve?"
"Yeah?"
"Kiss me."
"Okay," he whispered, leaning back in. When his lips met yours, you lifted your hand into his hair. He sighed happily into your mouth. He wrapped his arms around your waist.
And then it dawned on you. You pulled back from him. "Steve, it's too quiet."
You both looked at the water, half-expecting the kids to be gone, but they were all still in the lake—treading water and staring, silently, at you and Steve.
"What?" Steve asked slowly.
Dustin made a face. "Dude. My sister."
Steve rolled his eyes. "Dude. My girlfriend!"
"You're just as bad as El and Mike," Will groaned, setting off the shouting once more.
Steve glanced at you. "We're not that bad, are we?"
You shrugged. "I don't think so."
He kissed you again. "That's all that matters." He looked back at the kids. "Alright, come on, out of the water! You're not getting in my car soaking wet."
While the kids groaned and complained, Steve stood and offered you his hand to help you up. You took it, kissing his cheek once you were upright. His hand still in yours, you made your way to the car.
Dustin called your name. "Have you seen my towel?"
"Right here, Henderson," Steve laughed. He picked it up from the chair it was flopped over and handed it to him. You leaned into Steve, letting go of his hand so he could wrap his arm around your waist. He kissed the top of your head.
"See?" you whispered to him. "Good dad."
A glint entered Steve's eyes. "Someday," he said, and you got the feeling his someday included you.
You covered his hand on your hip with your own and looked up at him. "I love you, Stevie."
"Still my sister, Steve!"
Steve didn't take his eyes off you and his voice was soft, too soft for Dustin to hear. "Still my girlfriend, Henderson."

You’re expecting him to be gone by eight. Nine at the latest.
The clock on the wall ticks closer to to 10pm and you unwillingly keep tabs on it, driven by your restless anxiety. You should be watching the show on the grainy television screen ahead of you, really. Especially after you jokingly bickered with Steve over the film choice for so long and he finally gave in and fed your pick into the VCR.
But you’re not focused on that either. If your eyes aren’t darting to check the clock, all your focus is zeroed in on the feeling of Steve’s thigh pressed against your own.
It might as well be searing a scorch mark into your skin; you’re sure the feeling might be imprinted in your memory forever. His warmth seeps into you. Somehow, it feels like he’s both defrosting hidden worries within you and setting you aflame. Hopes rise and yet, with them come a dozen other new worries.
Despite his closeness, still, you really were expecting him to be gone by eight. Why is he still here? It’s a little uncomfortable to admit it to yourself but you know the confusion stems from the fact people don’t tend to stick around with you.
Steve seems to be an exception.
You check the clock again and try not to think too hard about how nice his closeness is. How you’re already missing it when he hasn’t even left yet. The hand on the clock shudders with every second it ticks around the clock-face. Steve sees your motion, his eyes silently checking in on you, and a frown crinkles his brow at your distracted state.
“Everything alright?” He asks, voice a bit raspy from under use.
You startle just a bit, head whipping towards him beside him. He’s watching you close, amber eyes sincere and expression open. Surprise sprouts within your chest; he must have noticed your fidgeting attention.
“What? Yeah, yes, everything’s fine.” You assure him with a nod, maybe a bit too eager. “Everything alright with you?” You ask nervously, just to check.
Steve laughs a bit at that. He presses his knee against yours purposefully, a gentle knock. Pairs it with a sweet smile.
“Yep,” He smiles, pink lips not at all distracting you in the least. Your gaze darts to the moles on his neck and back to his face as he continues. “You just keep checking the clock. Want to make sure I‘m not... y'know, overstaying my welcome.”
His words dip at the end, clipped by a tone of worry as he turns back to face the screen ahead a bit, pretending to re-tune in. Steve’s been working on toning it down, trying not to be too intense too quickly. Both in the interest of protecting his heart and trying not to scare you off.
But shit, you’re lovely. Steve’s not entirely sure he’s got a choice in this; his heart feels like it might crawl its way out of his chest just to be nearer to you. It’s particularly insatiable when you’re this close. Thigh to thigh. He can smell your perfume and he’s fairly certain it’s put him in some lovesick state of delirium.
Still, he can read people. Your insistence on checking the clock implies you want him to leave and yet, he can hear the tiny hitch of your breath when he leans closer. Confusion muddles together in his brain.
From the way surprise flickers across your features, you don’t actually want him to go. Some part of him sighs in relief before you even open your mouth to reassure him.
“What? No! No, no way.” The words come out a bit squeakier than you want. You curse yourself for somehow letting him believe you want him gone when it’s quite the opposite you want.
Steve nods, his face earnest enough to tell you he believes you. He shifts on the couch, turning back to face you and inadvertently leans in closer. Swirls of his cologne rush your senses. You hate how your brain tries to commit it to memory in an instant. Fuck, he’s pretty.
“So,” Steve starts, licking his lips in a nervous motion. He gestures with his hand, “The clock?”
Shit. You’ve accidentally cornered yourself. You can either let Steve stew, not quite believing that he isn’t just imposing on you and your time, or tell the truth. It somehow feels even more pathetic now than ever.
“I just,” You start, tearing your eyes off his face. Your throat grows a bit thicker and your fingers find a thread on your pants to toy with. “I’m... surprised you’re still here. That you want to be here. And, y’know, spend time with me. Still.”
It doesn’t feel any greater to say aloud. Eyes fixed in your lap, teeth worrying your bottom lip, you miss the way Steve’s eyes widen. Some wave of hurt curdles up inside him, sour and sore, because fuck, you’re waiting for him to leave? Not because you want him to but you’re expecting it?
Screw trying to tone himself down. Steve knows his heart is on his sleeve and he’ll be damned if the one time he tries to shelter it, it backfires. The words come out easy, without a lick of a lie in them.
“I want to spend all my time with you.” He says sincerely, another press of his leg against yours to drive the message home. He means it completely.
That has your head tugging up. Steve’s heart gives a painful little twist at the utter surprise on your face.
“You do?” You ask.
He pushes on, ignoring the urge to ask who made you feel like such a burden and whether he could throttle them. “I like you. I mean, yeah, of course, I wanna spend time with you.”
He says it so flippantly, casualness dousing every word, like it was a thought he’d thought a thousand times. Heat flames in your chest, brilliantly warm, and curls up to your face. You let out a breath, a little shuddering quiet laugh of disbelief.
“Oh.” You say. The smile curling at the edges of your mouth is impossible to fight. It’s a full blown grin by the time you meet his eyes again and shuffling closer feels like an instinct you can’t ignore.
“Me too.” You admit, nerves still piling in your chest but damn, if the elation of hearing those words doesn’t beat them by a mile. “I mean, I like you too. As well.”
Steve rumbles out another chuckle but you can see how delight dances across his face. His shoulders sit a little lower, grin a little more confident all of a sudden. His knee nudges yours again, for what must be the umpteenth time this night. Forget scorching, he’s burning into your side — the touch unbearable in the best way now you know he wants you. Wants you like you want him.
“Sounds like we’re in the same boat, you and I.” He says simply, wiggling his arm out from where it’s sandwiched between the two of you. He pulls it up to his face with a clenched fist, covering a yawn, and it takes about another second for it to click — when he stretches the arm up, above your heads, and lets it settle down around your shoulder.
God, that’s a move. You’re nearly ashamed of how well it works on you, considering your stomach twists up gleefully. He’s flirting with you.
“Sounds like it.” You breathe out, voice escaping you a bit at how much closer the two of you are now his arm is around you. Steve’s breath fans across your face, his eyes locked onto your face. They roam your face, drinking in the details, paying particular attention to your mouth.
You lick your lips without meaning to and decide you can’t wait til another evening together, hours away, to know what his lips feel like. Steve will not be the only brave one tonight.
Leaning in, you give a moment's pause, to let him give you a sign to back off. To see if the universe will pull the rug out from underneath you, for this to be some cruel joke.
Steve nods, the tiniest motion. This close, you can see the smallest quiver of his lips. You do your best to kiss it away, trying your hardest to contain your smile with your lips against his. From the way Steve smiles into the kiss, you’re sure he doesn’t mind.

GOH 17: Don't Forget Me... Teaser
Tumblr media
“Once it screams, we run. Every monster and their mother is gonna hear it, and we need to get out of the open, fast.” He hisses between his teeth as he watches the creature weave its way through the trees, drawing closer.
“And lead them all straight to the motel?” You whisper back at him, and his face pales. There goes that plan.
“Shit.”
“What about that house?” You suddenly ask, tilting your head to your left. “The huge one on that hill? It’s the opposite direction from the motel and the closest thing-”
“Oh, god, no.” Steve breathes out, shaking his head with determination. “Remember what Robin called it? You do not enter a house called the murder house. Especially when you’re being chased by murderous flesh-eating monsters!”
“It’s pretty much our only choice right now.” You stress, the small hairs on your arm prickling the closer the creature gets. “We run through, slip out the back, and tail it to the motel before it’s-”
If Steve had any objections, you never heard them. All you heard was the terrifying scream rippling from the unhinged jaw of a ghostly woman.
“Run, run!” You yell, already feeling the effects of an ear-splitting pitch.
Steve immediately grabs your hand and you let him guide you both, blindly trusting the boy you had assumed your enemy for 4 years of your life.
He wasn’t sure if you’d both be able to get inside in time, fully away of the hoard of monsters emerging from the shadows and chasing you down. It was a risky bet, this house. But you were right. It was the only option.
If Steve wasn’t so adamant on moving fast, he might have felt the soft tug of your arm as your body struggles to keep up, the stretch of the hill proving the laws of physics were never your friend.
As long as your hand was in his, you were going to be fine.

i am not finished
“steve,” you warn, hips rearing up. you fall cheek first to the bed. soft little squeals fall from your drooling mouth. “m’cumming, m’c-cumming—,”
“whoa, whoa, whoa.” he pinches at the fat of your waist. his cock slowly slips from your walls as he gathers you closer. “let me see your face when you do, baby—know how much i love that pretty face, don’t you?”
your boyfriend tugs you up off of your pink quilt until your back is pressed to his chest. his hips bear down on your slippery, squelching cunt harder than before.
“f-fuck, steve!”
his breath caresses the shell of your ear, sends a shiver down your spine.
“oh, i’m sorry.” pat. pat. pat. the sound of your ass hitting his hips rings in your ears. each time he moves to pull out, your hips follow him back on their own accord.
“did you lose it?” harrington coos, “did i ruin it?”
pussy juice comes dripping down your cunt. wave after wave, your pussy throbs with the the telltale pulses of your delayed orgasm.
“mmf!” you cry back, trying to nod with how far he has your chin pressed back. steve’s face is so sweet. warm brown eyes gleam as he watches you almost cum. his cock pounds deep, leaves you gasping for air and pawing at his wrist.
“sh-shit! y-you bastard,”
steve hisses as his cock throbs back, equally desperate and equally pissed at him for taking so long to cum.
“pretty pussy got so sloppy though.”

eddie. anal.
man would go FERAL for it, it’s such a taboo because most girls aren’t down for it for a one night stand cause it involves a lot of prep.
but you? you’re an innocent girl at school, one that eddie feels like a scumbag for imaging when he jerks off. the dainty bows in your hair, your soft hands that he feels when you pass him a pencil in class, your kind eyes when you say hello to him in the halls.
one day you dropped something and bent down to grab it, giving him a peak at your pink panties as your skirt rode up. he could see the curve of your ass and a bit of the plumpness of your pussy.
he could almost growl at the thought of bending you over a lunch table, a counter, literally anything just so he can put his grimy hands on you.
it only gets worse when you two start becoming close, which was proceeded by you being one of the only kids not making fun of hellfire and being actually impressed by the creativity. (especially the fairies involved, he loved how excited you got when he mentioned that)
he thought maybe the sexual tension was just on his end, he definitely knew his perversion was because the way you looked at him didn’t have an ounce of naughtiness behind it. but he did notice a neediness.
the kiss happened after listening to music for awhile, the beat finding its way between the both of you as your hips grinded against his. he had to pull away, just to watch you, knowing you had revealed to him a few days prior you had only kissed guys. not made out, just kissed, and it was only 2 of them during freshman and sophomore year respectfully.
“eddie i want you but i’m trying to wait.” you sigh, his dick still twitching as he felt your wet pussy. he was such a pervert.
“its okay, we can just keep doing this if you want?” he suggested, sitting up straighter.
“well…” you bit your lip and blushed at the thought, “some girls i know said what they do is they do it the other way.”
eddie needed to confirm what he thought you just insinuated, that he should do the infamous religious loophole. it was confirmed when you guided his hand to the swell of your ass.
a jumble of clothes thrown off led to you on hands and knees on his bed, him standing at the edge with his knees barely resting on it. putting on a condom and grabbing lube, he took a deep breath.
you kept your bra and panties on, giving you some modesty as his finger dragged the part above your asshole to the side to put a finger in. you gasped at the intrusion, the lube making his fingers glide in and out.
“feel good, baby?” he asked, the pet name falling out without much thought.
“mhm, strange but good.”
he continued to help you stretch, adding another finger and spreading them as wide as he could. once you had gotten more into it, he lined himself up, easing in his tip.
the cry that left your lips made his chest sting, but his cock throb. he squirted a bit more lube before guiding himself further. he thrusted in and out, only about half way inside.
“you’re doing so good.” he groaned, feeling the slight clench at his kind words. he added more of himself until he was flush against you, balls hitting your clothed pussy.
the faint touch against your dropping center made you cry out, his hand rubbing circles into your hip. he created a gentle pace, watching as he disappeared into you.
he could tell you were tense, upper body still rigid despite your attempts to fully submit into the pleasure. he called out your name, you nodded to give him a sign you were listening.
“you want to try on your back?” he suggested as you agreed, slipping out of you to help flip you around.
“want to take these off?” he questioned, toying with your pink underwear, and while you contemplated it, you knew it would be more comfortable so you rid of them.
as eddie began fucking your ass again, he watched your cunt drip onto him below and sliding all the way down to his balls. he leaned down to give you a sweet kiss.
“is it okay if i rub your clit? i think it might help you feel better.” he said, hand resting on your naval.
“please.” was all you could come up with as his fingers found the bundle of nerves. he had a flash of panic about a noise complaint when you left out a loud cry, back arching at the stimulation.
his forehead rested against yours, attempting to control himself to not fuck you too intensely.
“have you ever played with this cute little pussy?” eddie inquired, genuinely curious with a mix of saucy talk.
“no, i don’t think so.” you whimpered, “but this feels good.”
he leaned up to look down, watching as you took his dick so well in your tightest area, your clit becoming more red as he continued to play with it.
“your pussy is so needy, look how wet you are. need to play with her, okay? can you do that for me?” he asked, on the brink of it just by thinking of you rubbing yourself to the thought of this moment.
he heard your moans become more rigid, kicking your sock clad feet out a few times in a row subconsciously.
hearing you hit your peak made him finish inside the plastic covering, feeling your ass relax as he hissed. he made sure to tear his eyes open to watch you come, your eyes clenched but mouth wide open, an angelic series of cries as you succumbed to the pleasure.
he noticed as he pulled out that your pussy clenched then pushed a bit of your release to the entrance. he wished he could just fuck you to oblivion, making his bed shake from how intensely he moved in and out of your throbbing pussy.
“thank you eddie, that was wonderful.” you sighed as your hands rested on your bra clad chest, sounding far too innocent for a girl who just got sodomized in a metal guys trailer.
but that was just who you were and he was glad. he loved that you didn’t feel guilty about it, just wanting to experience it and trusting him enough to engage in it.
he helped you redress, checking in to make sure you felt comfortable and not in too much pain. he got you something to eat from his kitchen, nothing too exciting, just some cereal.
he could’ve been embarrassed until your face lit up, “that’s my favorite kind!”
the next day at school, when you gave him a kind smile, he noticed the faint stutter in your walk. feeling sorta guilty for being the reason, but being way too proud of the fact he got to help you.
so while eddie may be a bit of a pervert, it can work out in his favor, especially when innocent girls want to have some fun

Hi there! I've seen you around and just wanted to say that I love your blurbs so much<3 I always find myself smiling like an idiot while reading them
I wanted to request something. I'm not that big into AU's but there are some that I really like. So College!Steve and reader, they're not roommates or anything, but are really good friends, being so clingy and affectionate with each other that they always get mistaken for a couple.
And she comes over to study for whatever subject she has a paper to write for and they're both sitting at the desk, the reader in his lap while she's leaning forward to read and take some notes while he's casually leaning back in the chair, balancing a book on his stomach and her back, pushing his glasses up when they slip down his nose, and from time to time checking in on her, abandoning his book to wrap his arms around her middle and hook his chin over her shoulder, looking down at her work and asking about it and if she needs help.
He's so sweet and always asking if you can manage the task, squeezing your waist or hip and praising her from time to time, telling her how well she did....
oh my gosh hi!! i love your writing so so much im so happy you like my little blurbs and thoughts <3 college!steve is so so cute. i know i personally get very stressed out when i have papers to write, but hed be so sweet and make it sm easier. i hope you like this lovey <3
you and steve aren't technically dating, but you both know you're bound to each other. there's no need to rush, and you're very shy, so steve is content to wait as long as you need.
you mentioned that you're having trouble finding the motivation to start writing, always procrastinating the paper till the last moment, your eyes getting teary looking up at him cause you're so stressed. he pulls you in for a hug and tells you to come over after your classes, that he could study with you so you won't have to be alone. always wanting the best for you.
when you get to his apartment he makes you a coffee. a sickening amount of sugar that he didn't like, but always tastes anyways to make sure it's just how you like it. setting you up on his desk, your laptop in front of you, the blank word document staring at you. steve laid on the bed, knees propped up to keep his book in front of him. glasses resting near the tip of his nose. his brow furrows as he tries to focus on the book, but the words are too damn close together and he keeps getting lost.
"...steve?"
"yeah, honey? you okay?"
"can you come sit with me please?" your voice so shy and shakey, making his heart swell.
"of course babydoll, stand up for me." sitting down in the chair with his legs apart before pulling you onto him by your hips. he doesn't mention your entire body getting hot and how he can feel your heartbeat, but he notices. rubbing circles into your arm with his thumb to calm you (and honestly himself) down. leaning back and propping his book onto your back, reading a little better now. the room quiet and comfortable except for the sounds of pages turning, slow typing, and heavy breathing.
when he looks up you have two whole paragraphs. your compatibility shows when he gasps at the work you've done, while you sign because you haven't done enough.
"look at you, baby!" the pet name making your heart flutter, "you wrote that so quick. good job honey." he coos.
you giggle at his praise. he'd be lying if he said he didn't know how much it affects you. he watches your every breath, so of course, he notices your… liking of praise.
"thanks, stevie." your voice is so sweet it makes him blush.
it stays like that for a while, his constant praise and shoulder rubs until you get about seven paragraphs on the document. turning around to look at him struggling to read his book, the words on the page mixing together in a way that made his head hurt.
"you want help stevie?" you whisper, not needing to raise your voice with the short distance between you.
he looks up at your soft voice, his face forming a pout subconsciously that you swear could make you do anything he asked.
"my head jus' hurts. it's hard to read." he complains. whining a little bit because he loves when you baby him.
you stand up, ignoring his whimper at the loss of contact.
"ill read it to you, come lay in my lap sweetheart." the time spent studying and the late hour slowly disintegrating your filter.
and oh his face lights up like a kid on christmas. your lap? is he in heaven ? he gets up so fast and settles onto the bed with you, his head resting on your thighs as you angle his desk lamp at the book. starting to read a few pages before his bookmark, knowing that he probably didn't process the past few pages. he stares at you while you read the next chapter, a goofy smile adorning his face. and he thinks he might die when you take his glasses off and run your hands through his hair while you read.
so its really not his fault when he starts dozing off. how could he not? your hands so gentle and your thighs cradling his head. giving him little head scratches that made him shiver. eventually, he falls asleep on your lap. you look up when you hear his snoring. smiling adoringly at the soft smile over his face, his mouth parted a little bit. cheeks pink and pretty. so beautiful.
you place the book down to enjoy the moment. savoring every second of it. letting your mind wander all over steve. one particular idea coming to your mind, the timing just feels so right.
unbeknownst to you, he too was already planning to ask you out on a date the next day.

I can't get that library gif set you reblogged out of my head. Like sir bang me against the table in a secret library room
I can definitely imagine it now.
A/N: Language, NSFW, smut, creampie, vaginal fingering, mentions of masturbation, sex in public, all kinds of filth and brain thot rot.
You’ve been passing notes back and forth all day, needing Steve, needing him to need you. The last one seems to get his attention more than any of the rest.
~*~
Stevie…?
I have to confess that I broke one of our rules today. Couldn’t wait until we had to study for the science exam tonight. Just needed something to hold me over. I tried my own fingers again, but they weren’t as good as yours. I came though, and I decided to taste it this time. Fuck, baby, it wasn’t bad. Can’t wait for you to have your turn.
Xoxo
And you’d pressed your frosted lips to seal the enveloped spiral sheet, happily sated for the moment. It was only when Steve caught you around the elbow during sixth period, waiting for the corridor to empty before dragging you into the library, your ass ramming into the wooden table, lamps shaking from the pressure—that you realized the extent of your little love letter.
“You know how hard it was to talk about the fucking civil war with a raging boner in history class?”
“I can see it was hard.” You gulp around your observation of his bulge, nestled beneath tight denim washed jeans.
His thumb finds your chin, the pad resting just on your lower lip and pulling. He steps closer, his breath hot and smelling like his secret courtyard cigarette, the mints he pops after to cover the scent, and the glass bottle of Coke that he keeps in his locker to sip on during passing.
“Spread your legs and take off your panties.”
A sporadic thump echoes in your guts, making you gasp. “But the librarian—“
“Is eating her lunch way up front. We’re all the way back here.” He tuts at your hesitation.
“What? You couldn’t help yourself when you snuck off to touch my pussy, could you?”
“I didn’t mean-“
“Oh, I know exactly what you meant, honey,” he says, briefly breaking with a low rapped rasp in his gravelly tone. “tell me, where’d you do it at?”
“Steve…”
“I asked you—“ His mouth finds the shell of your ear, hot breath caressing the shell, stimulating your nipples beneath the cotton of your bra. “—where. did. you. do. it.?”
“In the girl’s bathroom.”
His teeth find your lobe, tugging gently. “Oh yeah? Did you ride your hand, back against the stall? Maybe you propped a foot up on the toilet seat? Or did you sit down so you could spread those legs a little more?”
You moan with a gaped mouth, reaching for his watch covered wrist and squeezing. You don’t argue anymore. He filters a hand beneath the backs of your thighs as you lift, hand tucking into the fabric of your underwear, his other hand sliding along your leg, helping part your limbs to attach to the soaked silk, assisting you in getting it off. You want to bury your face into his shoulder when the string of how much you’re turned on connects from you to the crotch of your panties. Steve rubs his fingers through it, before he pockets your garment in his jeans, stepping back into place and undoing his own pants.
“I can’t wait anymore, baby. And it’s all your fault—“ He clutches onto your hand and presses it into the table beside your left thigh, his other hand stroking along your neck. “—M’ gonna cover your mouth now, and I’m gonna fuck you, honey. And no one will know what’s going on back here but us.”
When you agree and he’s already taking himself through your wetness, the shiny slick visible in lamplight, across the table, your spare hand finds his shoulder and clenches as he pushes inside, giving you a few seconds to adjust, whispering in your ear, your stutters coming off as little bursts of air against his palm that’s hovering over your lips.
“It’s okay. I know, I know, sweetheart. Give it a second, like always.” He pulls his hand away to slide between your legs and rub at your clit, his mouth finding yours as he begins a rhythm.
It gets loud, audible even over his big hand clasped over your mouth. When you can’t take it, you’re squeezing his waist, hand pulling and running through his hair, fingers on your left side still interlocked, he starts to falter, eyes wide, forehead resting against yours. “Shit, honey. Fuck, baby. You’re soaking my cock for me, what a good fucking girl you are.”
It’ll be a mess if he pulls out, so you fall back onto your elbows, letting him hike your legs around his waist, his hands finding purchase on the table, one spreading your cunt open to rub your clit in time with the rhythmic movements and the creaking of the table. He cums seconds before you, an apologetic whimper where you have to reach out and cover his mouth, the vibrations undoing your own orgasm. He fucks you through it, palm back over your mouth until you stop trembling and can speak without whimpering. He nuzzles you, stroking your shaking thighs. “You okay?”
“So glad I passed you that note, Steve.”
“Take that as a yes then?”
When he helps you off the table and leads you out with your fingers laced and his cum warm and inside you, dangerously close to dripping down your thighs, that’s his perfect payback.

May I ask--
All the teens playing seven minutes in Heaven, (Jonathan, Argyle, Nancy, Robin, and Steve, and Eddie) and Eddie spins and it lands on male reader, so Eddie just smirks and they go to the closet.
They end up making out, maybe Eddie fingers the reader or something and when Steve tries opening the door, Eddie slams it shut with his foot?

_______________________________
It's silly. And yet, the realization of how silly it really is doesn't stop the thundering of your heart. Robin's the one that suggested it. She'd confessed amongst the group as they piled in the Wheeler basement free of the younger teens as they'd banded together to catch a movie that she'd missed her younger days of sleepovers. Robin's the one that when the conversation winded down memory lane also confessed she'd never gotten to play a game of seven minutes in heaven.
The room freezes. Eyes are flickering around to everyone else in the room. Steve's trying to avoid eye contact with Nancy and she's looking at Jonathon. Argyle shrugs, unphased by what he assumes is to come next. Eddie glances briefly over to you before looking and holding eye contact with Steve.
You're just staring at Robin. Because why she'd confess that you'll never know and like the silence winds Robin up, she continues on. "I am by no means suggesting we play. Like it's so totally stupid. A lot of folks here have too much history and it would be awkward no doubt. I was just saying I wish I had gotten a chance to play. You know? For memories sake. For the sake of a little story in my older years. Should I make it that far, ya know. But still--"
"Robin, we're adults," Steve returns. Steve knows his statement is only on technicality sake. But it is true--most everyone in the room was an adult. No matter what happened (or didn't happen) they could easily laugh it off, skip on whatever is deemed too awkward.
You can't say you're really looking at Robin anymore. Your eyes are pointed in her direction but she's not filling your vision in a way that makes your brain recognize her. You're staring through her--at the imagined near future. YOu all sit, around the pizza box, someone's finished coke on the top of it, spinning glass to seal fates. Rounding the corner to go into the closet just off the stairs. Maybe some folks laugh at their pairings. You imagine Robin and Steve would snicker, agree to go to the closet and then in the span of the seven minutes devise some plan to make their own clothes look dishevel and wait for the poor soul to knock to let them know their time is up for one of them--Robin mostly likely to make a joke that she's definitely still gay.
It is funny. As you imagine them.
But you can't help but also wonder what happens should it land on Steve or Nancy or worse yet, you and Eddie. You do not want to imagine what happens should that bottle land on you and Eddie. Would you two just stand on opposite sides of the closet, making small talk as you normally do? Would you be brave enough knowing that in the end, you'd have an out--7 minutes and sooner should it all blow up in your face.
"I'm down," Argyle chuckles. "Would absolutely make for an interesting story. Let's just, like, set ground rules."
"Ground rules!" Steve jumps in, hands clapping together for a moment before he points to Argyle. "Sounds perfect. Love that idea."
"So, should we be able to politely reject a pairing? Like if it's going to be too awkward we can sort of just back of it?" Nancy offers.
"I'm cool with it," Eddie nods. "If people want to go for a joke, it should like be mutually decided. You know--consent and shit."
You know that if you really don't want to play you can say no. It is an odd number without you and both you and Jonathon haven't said much for or against it. You plead with yourself if Jonathon backs out you will too to make it even. But as the pizza box closes--the last of it's slices consumed long algo--he slides in closer to the table.
There goes your exit. Fuck, you say to yourself. Now you have to be strategic. You need to check where you sit to see who's direct across from you and then diagonal to you. They're the ones you'll be getting. Do you go across from Eddie? Do you sit next to him to avoid the whole situation?
By the time you can tell yourself you're going to just sit next to him the spots are filling up and you notice where Eddie had been next to you he's now right across from you. Argyle's to your left, Robin to your right. Diagonal from you on either side of Eddie are Nancy and Steve.
Fates--they seal faster than one can calculate sometimes.
"I-I'll go first," Steve states. "You know, break the seal," he jokes.
The roll of the glass bottle against the cardboard of the pizza box echoes in your brain. The scratching is a smooth sound as it whirls around and around and round.
The first match and laughter breaks out. Steve and Robin. "Oh, god, kill me now," she laughs.
"Hey, I'm a nice guy," Steve counters. "I'll always ask." His hands extends out and Robin laughs, hands shooting up to defend herself.
"Oh, come on. I know I don't have tits, but I'm a fun time," Steve laughs.
Robin, even in the bouts of her laugher, eventually stands. "Who's keeping time?"
"I-I'll do it," Jonathon offers, slipping his watch off and setting it on the edge of the table.
"Ready for the best seven minutes of your life," Steve grins, slipping his arm around Robin's.
"Whatever you say, loser."
And as the door shuts behind them, the first minute creeps by in silence. The whispers are just wisps of Steve's and Robin's voices and then Robin's laughter erupts from the closet and it's clear that it's not awkward at all for them. So the group relaxes.
You can't help as Argyle's voice carries out over the silence but glance up to Eddie. His eyes are glued to you. It's clear he's still listening to whatever is being said, but his big brown eyes hardly leave your face until Jonathon stands up.
"Time!" Jonathon calls out, hand raising to knock on the door but he doesn't get the chance before he stumbles out of the way.
Steve stumbles out first, his polo pulled out of his jeans, hair tousled. Robin struts out after him, perfectly intact. Steve makes a big show of stumbling back to his spot and then right there on his cheek is a red print left behind of lipstick. Clearly it's Robin but her lipstick doesn't look hardly budged. She makes show of clearing the corners of her mouth and asking Nancy to check her teeth for lipstick stains.
"You're-you're all good," Nancy giggles out.
Another spin. Argyle and Jonathon. They laugh and Nancy agrees to keep time. They're voices are louder as they talk from the closet. Perhaps the gods would be on your side and let you slither by without embarrassment.
The boys return after Nancy calls for them. They're laughing--you're not sure about what. But given Argyle in the equation it could be anything.
Another spin and though Eddie's stare is still hot on your skin you start to think you will get by unscathed. The glass bottle spins and whirs in the room until it slows to a wobbly stop.
You and Eddie.
Your eyes lift before your head and Eddie's brows are raised. "Only if you want. I meant what I said."
Your heart is hammering in your chest. His lips are nice and pink. They're begging to be kissed. It's like Eddie is begging you to kiss him. You nod, throat cleared by your hum. "I think you might be shocked you're not the only one with boyish charm."
It's faux confidence. Your knees are knocking as the two of you stand. You're sure you're going to faint. "I'm keeping time, boys," Robin calls out behind you.
Eddie wave you into the tiny closet first with a bow. You step through, inhaling deeply as the door shuts behind you. "You seem nervous," Eddie states.
You turn and he's leaning against the door, fingers playing at his rings. He doesn't seem hurt by the statement. Maybe you catch something like amusement. He continues on, "Because if I'm honest, I'm probably the last person you should be nervous about. Harrington, I've heard, has a way with the boys."
That gets you to chuckle. Steve's blaringly straight and though he and Robin have a good relationship enough for them to devise their stunt, he is not going after boys--not the likes of you anyway. Not that you ever wanted Steve too either. Sure, Steve is attractive. But he's not necessarily your type.
"I think I can handle myself around the likes of Steve. He's all talk, not bite."
"Oh, I didn't realize we'd be exposing kinks so early into our time."
"I-" you choke on air. "No-uh." A cough interrupts you and Eddie slides in, hand clapping down on your mid-back.
"You okay?" he asks softer now.
You nod when you get one solid inhale. "I'm okay."
"You sure? Thought I'd have to give you mouth to mouth there for a second," Eddie teases. His breath tickles your cheek. The hand on your back slips down to your lower back. Then stops. Your heart races. "Tell me no, okay? If-If I'm reading this wrong, tell me no."
Eddie steps, standing now in front of you. The hand on your back moves to your hip. The smell of his cologne--something you're sure was originally Wayne's but Eddie had mostly commandeered--fills your nose.
"Yes," you whisper, hands gripping at the front of Eddie's flannel. A red one and you're certain it's a hand me down too.
Eddie rears back for a second, taking in the way your eyes of fluttered close. "Yes?" he asks for clarification.
"Yes," you return. The toes of your shoes bump into Eddie's. Then he's closing the gap. His lips eal around yours gently and your swear your guts are going to melt.
You are going to become a puddle in Nancy Wheeler's basement closet but you do not care. Eddie is tender, a bit hesitant as the gasp leaves him. You take the gap and leap it--licking ever so gently at his mouth. Eddie laughs in return and surges forward. The momentum wavers you and you take a step back.
Eddie's grip is tight. His lips are firmer now. The kisses are growing hotter, more hums and moans are slipping from both your throats with little regard for the fact that you can be heard. You go until your back hits the wall and Eddie slides his fingers up and under your shirt.
You hiss at the warmth at his fingers. The touch is faint, so light that you think you're insane for how much you feel it. His rough fingers make your spine shiver. He traces the v of your hips, lips working down your jaw.
"God," Eddie breathes when you whine at the last hickey he sucks into your skin. "Sounds so pretty for me."
You sigh as Eddie whispers into your skin. You don't catch everything he says but you know right now heaven is the heat of Eddie's touch and kisses.
You trace the line of hair at the nape of Eddie's neck, fingers buried in his hair cradling his head right in the spot that makes your groin stir. "Fuck," you groan.
"There?" Eddie asks against your skin.
"Hmm, yes, there--right there," you whine out.
"Time!" Robin bellows. Her voice shakes a little. No shadow passes in front of the door when you crack open your eye. Fuck it, you think.
Your fingers are working at the button of Eddie's jean and he laughs. "Giving them a show?" he asks.
You shake your head. "No, I-fuck," you exhale. You scrub your hand over your face. You've nearly forgotten where you are. "I like you, Eddie."
His palms cradle your cheeks, eyes oozing as he looks at you. "I like you too."
"C'mon, seriously," Steve calls out. The door jiggles a little and Eddie spins, pushing back on it.
"Just a second!" Eddie bellows.
"Thirty second or I'm coming in--even if dicks are out," Steve returns.
You snort at his retort and Eddie turns back to you. "Come back to my place."
"Oh, okay, after this would be fine."
Eddie shakes his head. "No, like right now." When your brows furrow together, he steps in crotch pressing into yours. He slips just to the side and you notice now how hard he is in his jeans. "I am going to finish what I started."
You can only nod and Eddie takes your hand. The lights of the basement momentarily blind you as you and Eddie step through the door but the group is clearly amused and maybe a little scared too by what they auditorily witnessed. But even the low wolf whistle of Argyle doesn't seem to phase Eddie who carries on, up to the stairs. "Catch y'all lovely folks next time," he calls as you follow behind him.
"Oh my god," Robin cackles. "A story for the books."
You two get outside and Eddie spins on the front poor, kissing you again against the door. "Just enough to tide me over," he laughs and when he spins around again, you notice he hasn't even bothered to button his jeans back up fully, the belt hangly loosely and buckle clicking as he goes.
"Robin," you whisper, "I owe you one."

October 1985
YN steps out of her car with the movie her, Steve Harrington and her little brother, Dustin, watched the night before. She just dropped Dustin off at the Byers’ house and decided to return the movie early so she can see her best friend, Robin, and her boyfriend. As she approaches the building, she can see Robin facing the window as she stands next to Steve, who’s back is to the door.
YN smirks to herself before waving to capture Robin’s attention. Her concentration in the conversation with Steve is broken as she looks over to the window to see her other best friend standing beside a movie poster. She raises an eyebrow slightly, wondering why the girl didn’t just walk into the store.
YN smirks and gestures to Steve, who hasn’t noticed his co-worker has stopped paying attention to him. Robin grins and nods slightly before turning back to her co-worker. He raises an eyebrow and glances over his shoulder.
“What are you looking at?” He asks, looking toward the window.
She looks to where YN was hiding to notice she’s gone.
“I thought I saw Vicki!” She quickly lies, knowing what her best friend is going to do. “Go get that box of movies that Keith wants us to put out.”
Standing straight, Steve uncrosses his arms and walks toward the counter doorway.
“Why do I have to do it?” He playfully whines. “I thought he wanted YN to do it tomorrow morning?”
“Because I’d rather do it right now than help her in the morning, Dingus.” She leans back and crosses her arms.
He shakes his head and mumbles himself as he walks through the backroom door. Robin quickly turns toward the door and waves YN in. She runs in the door and quickly over to the counter. She tosses the movie to Robin, who catches it and watches as her best friend jumps, sliding over the counter.
YN drops to the ground and puts her back against the movies below the counter and waits for her boyfriend to walk out of the backroom. Robin puts the movie against the register and leans back again, acting as if she never moved from her position. Steve walks out a few seconds later with a large box in his hands.
Not knowing what just happened, he puts the box on the counter and looks through it.
“Anyway! As I was saying before, Dustin decided it would be a good idea to…”
As he continues his story about the night before, which Robin is definitely not paying attention to, YN turns slowly, still crouched, as to not alert her boyfriend that she’s behind the counter. Robin bites her lip, trying not to laugh. Steve pulls out a pile of movies from the box and puts them on the counter as he looks up at her.
“Why are you acting…”
YN jumps up quickly, yelling out, “Steve!!”
He screams and jumps back, accidentally pushing the tapes off the counter. Together, YN and Robin burst out into laughter as he grabs his chest and pants.
“Holy shit.” He says, hoping to calm down his heart. “You scared the shit out of me!”
“That was the point, Dingus.” Robin giggles, giving her best friend a high five.
“Why would you do that?” He asks, walking around the counter to his girlfriend.
“Gotta keep you on your toes, Harrington.” She grins, wrapping her arms around his neck.
“I can tell, Henderson.” He shakes his head with a smile before leaning down toward her.
Before their lips can meet, they hear a fake gag come from beside them. They sigh softly before looking toward Robin whose arms are crossed as she leans against the counter.
“Do you really have to do that in the store?” She raises an eyebrow.
“Hi, Vicki!” Steve says, waving toward the door.
She whips around and looks over the register to see if her crush is standing there. When she sees no one is at the door, she turns back around to see the lovely couple locked at the lip. She playfully gags again before shaking her head.
“If you’re going to do that, go to the back.”
Steve pulls away and looks at her with a grin. “We’ll be back! Thanks, Robin!”
“I wasn’t serious!!” She stands straight as a customer walks in the door.
He completely ignores her and grabs YN by the arm and pulls her toward the backroom door, causing her to laugh.
***
It’s been two weeks and Steve has decided that it's been enough time for YN to forget that she scared him at Family Video. Since she brought Robin into her ‘master plan’, he decided to bring someone else in to help him with his own. He knocks at the Henderson door, waiting impatiently, praying that YN doesn’t open the door.
“I got it!” He hears before the door opens to reveal Dustin.
Before the younger boy can open his mouth, Steve immediately covers it with the palm of his hand.
“Don’t let her know I’m here.” He whispers, glancing into the house for a moment. “I need your help.”
Dustin raises an eyebrow, confused. Steve leans down slightly and begins whispering in his ear, revealing his own plan. As he talks, Dustin’s eyes widen before he smirks against Steve’s hand. When he removes his hand, the younger boy nods fast and slowly opens the door more to allow the older teen to enter the house.
Together, they walk to the living room, away from the hallway to get their plan in motion.
“Dustin, who was at the door?” YN calls out from her room.
“It was just Mike! He was bringing my backpack back! I forgot it at his house yesterday!” He easily lies.
Normally, he wouldn’t lie to his sister. She is his best friend after all, aside from The Party of course, but this is important. Well, not important, but important to them.
“I could have driven you.” She calls back.
“I didn’t realize it!”
She doesn’t answer, allowing their plan to continue. Steve hides behind the wall and waits. A few seconds later, Dustin throws one of his DND books down on the floor before screaming out.
“YN! YN! Come here, quick! OW! Shit!”
Her door slams open and she runs down the hallway, her sock covered feet padding against the hardwood her mother had put in earlier that summer. As she slides around the corner, Steve jumps out.
“YN!” He yells, causing her to scream and jump backward.
Due to her not expecting it, she slips and falls to her ass with a loud thunk. His eyes widen but he relaxes once he sees her start to laugh. She lays back on the floor, laughing hard, holding her stomach, causing the two boys in the room to start laughing with her.
“Jesus!” She giggles. “I was not…Holy shit.”
“Payback, sweetheart.” Steve smirks as he calms down and walks over to her.
“I didn’t make you fall though!” She laughs and takes his hand after he offers it.
“Still. You scared me so I paid you back.” He leans and kisses her cheek as she stands.
“This just means I have to get you back.” She smirks.
“Why not turn this into a competition?” Dustin asks, walking over to them.
“I like that idea.” YN grins. “Looks like I have Robin on my team and you guys are a team.”
“Any rules?” He asks, looking up at his sister.
“Just two rules: No repeating your turn. If we scare you, we can’t scare you again until you scare us and vice versa.”
“Reasonable.” Steve nods at her words.
“Rule two: If you bring anyone into your team, like Mike or Will, they officially join your team and they have the chance to be scared.” She smirks.
“Deal.” Steve smirks and puts his hand out toward her.
She happily shakes his hand before rushing down the hallway toward her bedroom to call her best friend. A scoreboard ended up on the wall of the Family Video backroom, confusing the hell out of Keith.
Team Hair vs Team Scare Queens.
May the best team win.

I’m really thinking of quitting writing, people are so rude with their comments and likes. The lack of reblogs is disheartening, no one ever tells (apart from my moots) what they think or anything.
People just comment “part 5 pls” or “can I be tagged in the next part” without even reblogging my current part.
All the feedback I have received (from none moots) is to add “read:more” onto my fics or that ages ago I forgot to write about READER in a Steddie fic🫡🤦🏻‍♀️
I need to buy another wrist support and maybe it’ll change my mind but
we (writers, artists) cannot keep going if people don’t reblog our work.
