Cine: Dream Boy (2008)

En esta suerte de “Secreto en la montaña” (”Brokeback Mountain”, 2005) teen, Nathan Davies (Stephan Bender, a quien quizás reconozcas como el Clark Kent adolescente de “Superman regresa”) arriba con sus padres a St. Francisville, un pueblito rural de Louisiana y ya en el camino descubre a Roy (Maximillian Roeg). su más que apuesto vecino. Tiene quince años y forma parte de una familia en la que la fe es vital, pero que también esconde rastros de una relación disfuncional entre padre e hijo, signada por el abuso físico. Roy es su escape, el que ve en ese chico extraordinariamente tímido a alguien que lo ayude en la escuela. De diecisiete años de edad, el muchacho, importante es decirlo, además de colaborar con las tareas de la granja y de ser estudiante, conduce el autobús escolar.

Un roce furibundo inicia un romance apasionado, pero problemático, debido a que Roy ya tiene una novia (Rooney Mara, aquí acreditada como Tricia Mara, conocida por su rol en “La chica del dragón tatuado”) y a que, bueno, eran los 70s y la homosexualidad no era bien recibida en ambientes como los del sur estadounidense.

Pero, conforma pasa el tiempo, la reacción entre ambos se afianza mientras resulta cada vez más violenta la del padre de Nathan con su hijo, obligándole a escapar de la casa y de su presencia, hallando refugio en el granero de su amante.

El director y guionista James Bolton es el encargado de adaptar la novela homónima de Jim Grimsley y logra un retrato agridulce del romance adolescente en una época y un entorno problemáticos.
