I've read your piece about Brid and Rolan struggling with infertility, and have followed your own journey from afar (I'm a terrible lurker and I'm not very often around the online space), and the sadness and anger that comes with it touches something deep in me. first, you are always allowed to talk to me (especially if you're this sweet!) about anything i put out in public on the internet. anything i want private either stays in a journal, or gets deleted pretty quickly.

second, thank you so much for your kind words about that fic. infertility is very weird because it feels silly to complain about, especially in non-infertility-focused spaces. it's not like you need to have a kid to survive, you know? but it's so personal, and is often comorbid with other health problems, so it can just sort of... take over everything. i've been lucky in that my relationship survived primary infertility, and i actually managed to have a kid, but i know so many people whose """'journeys"""" ended very differently, and much more painfully.

gonna cut myself off before i get too in my feels, but thank you again. that fic was hard to put out, and hearing it touched even one person makes it so worth it. 💜💜💜

in the machete growing up compilation I noticed the little snail appears in two drawings, does it have any meaning or significance?

Nothing too grandiose, I just find snails cute.

Machete is so easily grossed out by so many things and a lot of people think snails are nasty and slimy. I thought it would be a fun inversion of expectations if he happened to secretly like them.

I surmise he has a fondness for snails for the same reasons he doesn't feel comfortable around horses. Snails are tiny, extremely predictable, silent and nonthreatening.

hi! if you don't mind the question, what are the Constructicons's individual opinions on Devastator as a person? you mentioned some of Hook and Scrapper's perspectives on the matter, anyone else have any strong opinions on their "seventh?"

To preface, they don't really meet Devastator where he is; they all understand him more as this concept than anything else.

(I wanted to answer this in character because it's fun :-P)

None of them are right, but none of them are wrong. It's weird.

And before you ask, no, their opinions on Devastator don't affect the combining process (unless it's too intense of a discomfort). The success of combination depends on unit cohesion, so as long as Scavenger thinks Bonecrusher is awe-inspiring, Hook keeps respecting Mixmaster's prowess in chemistry, and Long Haul keeps bottoming for Scrapper... They'll be fine.

I'm genderfluid!! It's a more specific transgender, nonbinary label.

I tend to bounce between very masculine, very feminine, somewhere in-between, or anything different that doesn't quite fit those definitions. I use different pronouns each day depending on how I feel!!

BUT, for simplicity sake. I go by He, She, and They pronouns. I like when you mix them in the same sentence!!

For example;

"I bought art from Fizzles today! I love his work, she does good work and I like the way they use such bright colors."

And I am bisexual!! Which is why I Love to run my grubby little bisexual satyr hands on all of your favorite characters and also make them Bisexual.

3. How did you choose their name? 

whenever i play a game where i do multiple playthroughs, i always dorkily link them together in some way. i did a tactician playthrough where i was a druid called the dagda (a real member of the celtic pantheon), and when i went to do an honor mode playthrough, i looked to see if the dagda had any daughters. he had one--brigid, or bríd. simplified to brid, and my little dweeb got her name.

14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be? 

first: she talks too much. i've said it before, but her sentences--including yeses and nos--are never less than five words, unless she's under extreme emotional duress. it's genuinely pretty fun to figure out the longest way a character can say something, i highly recommend it as a silly writing exercise. second: she will literally sprint away from emotional intimacy, platonic or romantic, for as long as she can. her heart is the shape of a particularly stubborn clam.

18. What is the most recent thing you’ve discovered about your OC? 

she drinks terrible coffee, specifically cowboy coffee. it's the easiest to make while traveling, and despite knowing how awful it is, she's been drinking it long enough that she'll defend it until she's in the ground.

Ok I actually have many thoughts about this

Firstly, yes

Secondly, I think Steve would naturally veer into punk regardless of circumstance. Billy and Eddie had always been counter culture due to their socio economic background and Billy’s abusive home life but Steve slides into disillusionment through the four seasons.

You could associate his overly preppy wardrobe in s1 with optimism, obviously because he’s a socially flourishing teenage boy and because of his background, being upper middle class in the beginnings of a postmodernist and globalist society.

As more occurrences happen with the upside down, Steve’s personal life fluctuating wildly and it becoming more obvious that Steve is neurodivergent, I feel it’s only natural that Steve would fall into a subculture that would reflect his sense of anomie (I am choosing to disregard the six nuggets scene as the duffers going reflexively no homo looking at the popularity at harringrove while filming. And yet they still bring up surfboarding somehow, take that how you want.)

Metal has narratively been overdone by this point (plus the weird vendetta the duffers seem to have against metalheads) and I personally don’t think they would have the balls to touch goth so punk really is the most natural option for Steve, given the fact that by now I can’t imagine he’s too fond of America.

In short, give us punk Steve you cowards
