Thinking of trines and gestalts as a soulmate thing. Sometimes you're created together, but when you're not you feel as though a part of you is missing. Like it feels as though there's parts missing from your spark. You find yourself coming across and stranger and you're being pulled towards them. And you know you are supposed to be with them. Not romantically (though that's an option) but in a way non seekers/combiners will never understand. For the first time ever your spark no longer aches with a longing you couldn't understand (or at least not as bad. You still need to find the others)

Then they turn out to be the biggest asshole you've ever met, and you realise you're stuck with them regardless

curious, does devastator have any specific opinions about each of his components?? any special brand of disdain for each or does he just not care about them as individuals enough to feel anything but blanket contempt?

Ow, I wish I had something more interesting/funnier to say about this.

Like, the idea of Devastator being annoyingly nitpicky about his components' many flaws and habits is incredibly funny to me, but that would obliterate the themes I'm working on.

As of now, Devastator hates the arrangement of being the secondary form forced to be used instead of enjoying his existence, while his components get to have all the glory and all the time in the world for their mundane, irrelevant blips of lives. He's incapable of seeing them as people. Maybe one day they were, but after becoming him, they are just components; any thought they have is his, any personality trait is a worse, incomplete version of his personality, their memories from before they became him are irrelevant, and their problems are none of his concern.

I don't think there's something that pisses him off more than a person referring to him with the name of one of his components, like, HE can't even tell them apart or remember their names! Who tf is Scrapper???
