webcomic/indie comic from the 2010s. basically a sci-fi short story about a young girl (with red hair?) who was being raised by scientists as part of an experiment. she receives a haircut/has her head shaved, in preparation for her annual brain scan/testing. it is revealed that while her body is human, her "brain" is artificial, made of computer implants throughout her skull and spine. at some point her biological mother (also a scientist on the same campus?) encounters her and is repulsed, viewing her as a machine who has murdered her daughter.

it was very poignant and it bruised my heart and i can NOT find it anywhere

It's sort of implied Yoo Joonghyuk starts off every regression in his signature outfit already and I have. Headcanons on how that is possible.

It's explicitly stated in canon that his coat does not travel back to him when he regresses (kdj says so to sp), so the two possibilities are either he buys it as soon as possible and just does the first couple scenarios in a normal outfit (boring, unsupported by canon) or... he was already wearing the coat on the day the scenarios started. Which is what I think, and is more interesting. Since those coats already have so much narrative weight in yjh's story let me add a little more.

I think when Yoo Joonghyuk spawned into existence on the side of the road one day, he was wearing the full WoS outfit, coat included. Because, what else would the protagonist wear? This was the only outfit he was written in.

Eventually, he of course did buy normal clothes (in yoo mia side story, which happens a few years later, he wears 'an old jacket') but that coat he started off with with would have been one of the very few pieces of evidence of his supposed 'past' that he wanted to discover so badly. So even if he stopped wear it day-to-day, I think he wouldn't have gotten rid of it.

For years, A Black Infinite Dimention Space Coat hangs in his closet, totally anachronistic in a pre-scenarios world. Like Yoo Joonghyuk himself.

It's important to note that on the day the scenarios started, Yoo Joonghyuk was taking the train to meet his parents for the first time. Perhaps he felt the need to dress up, and what better way than the unusual clothing he wore on the first day he remembers? He would have finally gotten the answers he had been looking for - perhaps even to the comparatively insignificant question of why he was wearing this coat when he forgot his past.

Well, his parents house was empty, but he still gets the answer to his questions eventually, when at 7 p.m on the ride back, the scenarios start.

In a bitter irony, that outfit he chose to wear on that day would be what he wore for the next thousand regressions. But of course, it never could have happened any other way.

nvm this is still on my brain. kim does not like to watch harry suffer… to say that kim takes satisfaction in harry’s pain is a huge misconstruing of his character.

the “getting thrashed like a schoolboy” line comes from a board game, lol. it’s a tease, not a cruelty. there’s never any line that implies that Kim enjoys seeing Harry taking actual morale damage.

he can be amused if you fail a check, but the check is always relatively inconsequential, and again, Harry isn’t taking damage in these.

(also in both of these examples he only responds smugly if you choose for Harry to stubbornly dig in his heels. if Harry gets huffy, Kim teases. If Harry backs down right away Kim won’t rub it in, which feels significant to me! it reminds me of that recent post goin around about Kim meeting your energy!)

most significant examples to argue this point for me come when harry has done something to jeopardize the RCM’s image. which kim goes on and on about the importance of maintaining— and yet even here, he still extends worry and assurance.

aaaaand the car. this line is one of the most mask-off kim moments we get in the game in my opinion, honestly.

tying this back to the schoolboy line— that line doesn’t show up if you have a negative reputation with Kim. if you have <1 rep, it gets replaced with him calling it “about four hours of our lives that we'll never get back,” lol.

anyways. kim is a foil to every other cop we meet in the game specifically because he doesn’t view harry as a punching bag or a lost cause. gottlieb does nothing but sling jabs and glib jokes about harry’s health. torson+mclaine and the others laugh at harry’s panic attack over the radio. in response to harry’s suicide-by-car attempt(!!!!) jean yells about RCM budget. all kim’s lines in response to harry’s check failures and health-damage are consistent, explicit textual contrast against the callousness of the rest of the RCM. twisting kim’s character here requires a bad faith interpretation of the whole game.

Not to sympathize with Zane but-

Let's forget for one minute the whole mystery if he changed from poet to filmmaker via spooky shenanigans for spooky yet unknown reasons, and instead we see him as an Artist(tm):

An artist who got famous for one of his works, to the point that to everyone he is said artwork. He's been mixed up with the character.

Everyone celebrating the one work of art and the one character, completely ignoring the artist is capable of doing a wider variety of artworks, maybe even ignoring his entire back catalogue.

The moment he did the one movie after immigrating? That's it, his reputation. Forget whatever he did in his homeland, foreigners in a foreign land have now decided he is Tom the Poet. It didn't matter at all that the character was voiced by some other person.

And now, let's entertain for a minute both possibilities being real at the same time: Alan Wake is a fictional character by Thomas Zane, and Thomas Zane is a fictional character by Alan Wake.

In both cases the character has the author's face. To the point that outside parties say it out loud - the Anderson bothers referring to Alan as Tom, Saga seeing a picture of Zane and wondering why does he look like Alan.

And the gall - Alan asking Thomas why does he look like him.

A fictional character now claiming the author's visage. The artist pigeon holed into one narrow genre. The Artist fighting his own work to reclaim his identity.

Thomas Zane goes as far as making a movie and once again play a character in it, but this time it's a different character. Tom is reclaiming his own visage. He plays writer Alan Wake in Yötön Yö.

There's no subtlety, there's no subtext!

Even when Remedy had Max Payne recast, Sam Lake was unable to get rid of the reputation, even if the character was voiced by a different actor. Recognized as Max Payne by foreigners in a foreign land(s).

And then, two decades later his face is back, but this time the IP belongs to Remedy. And it's not just the the voice and face of Max Payne with a different name - the author also plays as himself.

"Finally, voice and face are one and the same!" said Ilkka Villi/Tom Zane.

And if you take a step back, you could see Zane trying to take Casey from Alan as the deal between Remedy and Rockstar have with Max Payne. The IP was developed by one studio but belongs to the other. And now the original developers are reclaiming it by changing the name a little and inserting the character in one of their own IPs.

But you know, Casey is (in universe) a real person, same as a certain author in real life.

So, not to sympathize with Zane, but I understand why he gets annoyed when someone asks him if he was a poet. The poet could've been really just a character from his most famous work.

It is annoying when your name gets only recognized because of a narrow selection of your works. And that work may not even be the most meaningful to you or your favorite one!

These writers at Remedy are having so much fun and I'm glad they're all free to be as unhinged as they've been. I think they should go further.

Anyways, I propose Zane keeps getting confused with The Poet just to bully him lmao.

The fact that Bruce drew out all of the sketches for “Anatomy of a Metahuman” means that:

Bruce can draw from life (and do it well)

Bruce had to practice drawing to get that technically proficient (and anatomically precise) at it

So I ask you to rotisserie this idea in your brain - Bruce asking Clark to let him practice life drawing on him. And Clark agreeing to be Bruce’s life model/drawing muse.

Think small everyday sketches. Think titanic level “draw me like one of your french girls” sketches. Think loose papers and doodles with Clark’s face or likeness scattered around the Batcave and sometimes in the margins of Justice League reports.

Three Houses has many racist aspects that either gets glossed over, deliberately denied by fans that can't handle criticism of their favorite game or worse praised and one of these things is Almyra's portrayal as people and a nation.

Almyra gets written as brainless and war loving barbarians with no sympathy nor self awareness instead of normal functioning human beings. They're just as cartoonish as the Agarthans except for the fact Almyra isn't intended to be portrayed as villains.

This in turn makes Claude uncharacteristically stupid and oblivious by not only refusing to acknowledge Almyra's constant invasions and holding them accountable but putting the blame on Fodlan for not wanting to understand other nations.

Which is made even more bizarre considering the fact the devs have done their best to write realistic reasons for other nations to take up arms against Fodlan.

Duscur wants to reclaim their stolen land, Brigid wants to be free from the Empire's control, Sreng wants better land and resources ( which doesn't justify their actions ) but Almyra? They kill, conquer and ruin everyone's lifes for shits and giggles.

They easily could've opted for the Agarthans to stoke a fued between Fodlan and Almyra by posing as Fodlan soldiers and attacking Almyra. Which in turn would've given the Agarthans more presence in the Golden Deer route.

Wait... the Scream 3 script says Sidney is 24, but wasn't she born in either 1978 or 1979? If so, then Scream 3 takes place in 2003, not 2000. However, it list Angelina as 20, but then it's revealed that (in this version) she and Sidney were in class together, which would make her 24 as well. Additionally, Roman was supposedly born in 1970, and he's turning 30, so... it is 2000? 🤨

Yeah, either I'm even worse at math than I thought I was, and my laptop's calculator is ass, or the writer(s) did not think all of this through. 😐
