The organizers instead opted to create a course in a parking lot adjacent to the Caesars Palace hotel and casino located on the Las Vegas Strip.
The result was a 14-turn, 2.2-mile counter-clockwise circuit that featured no elevation changes and necessitated lots of back-and-forth sections to fulfill the 2-mile minimum length because of the small footprint. The circuit was also aesthetically uninspiring. And with the race being held on a Saturday afternoon, the trademark neon lights were unnoticeable.
“It’s a bit unfair to call it a parking lot race because it was not really a parking lot — it was part of a parking lot and a lot of desert, dirt, which the circuit was built on. Caesars spent a lot of money, a huge amount of money, building the circuit.”
“The heat was extreme,” [Derek] Daly said. “For the first time and only time in my life as a racing driver, with about three laps to go, I began to get dizzy in the brake zones because it was so hot. I was so dehydrated, and the track was so bumpy, and there was no rest.”
Where the circuit was located within the city and how it was laid out would become significant factors in why F1 lasted just two years in Las Vegas before ignominiously pulling the plug.

soooo done with f1. lets have teams spend millions of euros building some of the most hightech cars that are engineered to be some of the fastest and that require years of dedicated training to drive properly. also lets race them in the road.

australia just confirmed that anything indeed can happen. i thought lewis moved to ferrari was the maximum of it but apparently not.
today we started with 19 cars (bc williams withdrew logan's to give his car to alex) and finished with 16 cars across the line. ferrari finished 1-2, max dnf, mclaren in top 5, checo only finished p5, britcedes dnf, haas double points, and yuki & lance got points. ferrari have a better car than last year, you can clearly see it from carlos' & charles' smiles, they seem confident that they can close the gap with rbr and it's showing this early in the season (hopefully they can only get closer). same thing with mclaren, they definitely have a much better car than last year, lando and oscar deserve that.
but rest assured that silly season will only get sillier!!! 21 more races plus 6 sprint races (which im not so excited about), 13 unclaimed seats, moving rumors left & right (be it drivers or staff), and other drama. drivers market is going to be chaotic interesting. this is f1 ig.
