she has one of the biggest china bars among the kpop idols. her fandom is strong esp in china, thai, philippines, latin america and europe
although her appearance doesn’t fit korea nor japan’s “beauty standards” perfectly, she is quite popular out there. it took time to get recognize she deserves, but currently she’s one of the most popular kpop idols in korea and japan, thanks to the acting activities.
she has an addictive deep voice.
she is famous for her clean skin, considered as the idol who has most beautiful bare face. she prefers being without makeup on day off.
she’s against the “diet” culture without apology: that most female idols experienced, only eat a few to lose weights. since only female trainee had regularly weight measurement, she rebeled against the company in predebut era to get rid of that system.
she got scouted from jyp, sm ang yg entertainments as a trainee while in pledis. she was a “legend” trainee who was famous among other company’s trainees. the pics of her when she went to sopa’s graduation ceremony ( when seungcheol and doyoon graduated ) went viral on internet.
she’s the only one who constantly replies group chat, named "the only member who’s responsible" in “Know Thyself #2” ( lmao )
her experience in pd 48 literally broke her heart — gaeun was her first friend in korea, watching one of the oldest friends struggling, challenging, and falling apart at last sec was a terrible experience. during the program she held herself strictly not to do her favor nor get biased in any way, but couldn’t help herself into tears after the final. she just decided she’ll never involve to any audition programs again.
however, because of the pd48 appearance, she is basically the mother, or nonna / eonni of the 4th gen idols. lots of people mentioned her as a rolemodel or the sunbae they want to get close with, but it’s because she has so many male friends in the 3rd gen groups already and kiki be the only “safe” female idols to mention esp for male idols.
kiki is known as very polite and humble person in the kpop industry. throughout her careers, she carefully curated own demeanor and behaved very wisely. that, and the fact that she's the only one female member in her group made her allow to interact with other male idols “normally”. she is the heart of the healthy friendships between male / female idols in the industry. now she becoming the “legend” 3rd gen idol, kiki tried to clear the roadblock as something really unhealthy and toxic customs in the industry for the sake of the younger idols.
she plays the role of producing visual side like woozi is doing in music. she takes huge part as deciding concepts, the look of albums and costumes.
she often jokes about how she is “old” now that barely understands japanese youth words and it’s fUNNY
her favorite mangas are jojo’s bizarre adventure ( she’s MADLY in love with araki hirohiko’s illustration ), one piece, bleach, fullmetal alchemist, etc. she also loves psycho-pass and fate series as well.
she spent her childhood in 00s japan, so it’s apparent that she has been greatly influenced by those 00s japanese pop culture. she adores 00s jpop a lot. her favorite artists are amuro namie, utada hikaru, arashi and bump of chicken.
but her visual and fashion clearly got the 90s vibes.
her favorite colors are yellow, blue and black.
she listens to wide range of music. the song she shared to social media or released cover version often goes viral on internet.
she’s good at most sports ( maybe the only one who can controll balls properly in the performance team lol ) but has no idea how to play online pc games.
she reads lots of books except self-development jenre. her favorite authors are higashino keigo, kazuo ishiguro and le guin.
cooking is her speciality! it’s her little dream to have a mini-program that she invites the guests and treats her with her homemade meal.

PARK MINJI was born in 1989 in seoul, south korea. she lived in japan from age of 12 to 15 due to her parents’ work. after returning to korea and enrolling in college, she decided to go back to japan. while studying at a japanese university, minji worked as an intern at avex, a japanese record company, in 2010. it was during this time that she got involved in the collaboration project between after school and japanese singer amuro namie, which was the first time she connected with pledis.
after graduating from college, minji joined pledis entertainment in 2012. her work initially focused on nu’est’s activities in japan, but when seventeen made its debut, she became one of the managers. minji was also in charge of all group activities for seventeen, but most of all she supported kiki, since she was the only female member of the group, and it was clear that japanese girl needed the ongoing support of the female staff.
now she is the closest staff to kiki. as she supported her individual works, mostly acting activities in both korea and japan, minji spents a lot of time with her and recognized each other as a best friend. although seventeen’s management job is pretty hard and busy, it’s rare to see that same person remains in the team from debut. she’s one of ‘famous’ staffs like hyelim-nim, bumzu and kim yeonsoo that carats recognize.

i just made the really interesting realization that its been such a huge talking point ive heard the past few years that what would help men is having more Strong Masculine Rolemodels (and this is said both in a libfem-y way and a conservative reactionary way) but you never hear the reverse said. that having more strong female rolemodels could help (insert issue) young women face

hmm mmm mm 🧡😊💛🌸 paatni
omg.... yall delivered last night 😳
🧡 Who is your OC’s favourite person? Why is this person the top of their list and have they actually met them (an idol or rolemodel or celeb can be someone’s favourite after all!).
at the beginning of their little story paatni's favorite person is her best friend amytis! i feel like i can confidently say by the end of things she grows a really strong trust and bond with fidias and he is her New Favorite (but she and amytis never have a falling out, they are still good friends)
😊 What can make your OC smile even when they’re feeling down? What cheers them up and makes everything feel better for them? Is your OC genrally a happy person and do they enjoy making others smile? What about your OC makes others happy?
paatni has So Many Stresses in life that her go-to to feel better is self care LOL. she gets into a relaxing atmosphere (think spa day. bubble baths. yoga) or takes long nature hikes to get out of her head. paatni doesn't strike me as a happy person, more like a calm person. shes level headed and speaks with an even tone and is someone you can feel safe around.
💛 In general, how in control of their emotions is your OC? Do they have a good hold on them or do their emotions control them, not the other way around? What do you think is the reason behind this and is your OC ever concerned about their lack of or good control?
see above LOL. she usually (usually) has a good handle of her emotions. i truly think part of it is in her nature, but she also lives a very healthy lifestyle and has good coping mechanisms. ngl tho, there is a nurture factor too. with the pressure of the hemospectrum and the constant threat of acting out of line and getting killed by highbloods you gotta be concerned about how you behave. you know how it is.
🌸 What does your OC’s voice sound like? Their laugh? Are they good at singing? Do they have an accent?
ooOOOooo 🤔 her voice is deeper for a female, probably an alto, and smooth and even like flowing water. i dont imagine her to be particularly musically-gifted

Research | Character Writing
youtube
I came across this video on the misconceptions of Hayao Miyazaki's female characters across Studio Ghibli's films, and thought it may be a valuable resource to explore in my own writing. One origin of the modern Solarpunk aesthetic itself is rooted in Studio Ghibli films, and I want the conventions of the genre to come through not just through my set design and composition, but through the characters and their personalities as well.
To briefly summarise, this video posits that the current interpretation of the personalities of Hayao Miyazaki's characterisation are mimicked by generally less successful Western cinema. While they are not wholly inaccurate assertions, the video goes about searching for more accurate terms that characterise the writing and world of Miyazaki's creation. They are as follows;
Dutiful : Miyazaki's women are driven by duty, not by glorious purpose but by dedication to their craft. As a result of this dedication, they are fearless.
Humility : These characters are empowering, but with less ego than a traditional Western female protagonist. They do not have anything to prove, but instead their feelings stem from a sense of protection.
Isolation : In both senses, mentally and physically, these characters are isolated in their struggle. Eventually, they all do find companionship, community or family (some form of company after a physical and spiritual journey). They also tend to gravitate towards and empathise with characters who are also isolated due to various reasons.
Lack of Major Internal Conflict : Instead of a major internal conflict, Miyazaki creates stories of characters who make peace with their inner demons as opposed to fighting them throughout the story. The character grows with their struggles, in a way.
Compare this to the way that Miyazaki tends to write men. Yes, they are all of the above as well, but to a lesser extent. More often than not, the men tend to be more lost in their journey, aimlessly ambling about in search of a raison d'être. The female characters act as a rolemodel in some sense for the male characters to follow, not in a traditional maternal way but in a spiritual sense almost.
Studio Ghibli films tend to tack on a theme of love in their movies as well, in an almost misplaced sense. However upon deeper examination, it is not just romantic love that is the focus but instead the love of nature, love of community, love of oneself and the love of the greater world that is highlighted. It is a far-cry from the Western perception of love in entertainment media, but a pure raw form that takes one back to their childhood and their happiest moments, when the world was new and pure.
Ultimately, as with Solarpunk, Miyazaki's films are built on the basis of feminist undertones. Strong female characters (in the sense of characterisation and not the strength of the character themselves) pepper themselves throughout Ghibli films. My film aims to be a love letter to the themes of these works, and many others that fall under the Solarpunk genre, while also criticising the industrial cycle that this sort of future is dependent on; a beacon of hope for the viewer. Now that I understand what makes Miyazaki's characters, I can apply or subvert from these principles in my own writing going forward.

My thoughts on the 13th Doctor
I wasn’t sure how to feel about the doctor being a female. After all the seasons I was just use to seeing males being the character but of course, BBC just kept giving hints and little clips on what to expect from the show and at the end, ITS AMAZING!!
Having a female doctor it’s a new whole experience and I’m ready to see what else she has for us. Having Jodie as the doctor has broken a lot of barriers and has inspired many young people to be who they are and to know that they can do anything. Most of the panels have seen of the whole cast where there’s Q&A, there’s mostly stories and statements about how the 13th Doctor being a female has change their life and I think that’s just very amazing.
Having someone to look up to, it’s the best feeling because you know you can rely on them. I personally think that Jodie is a very good role model and I’m happy that she’s part of the Whovian family.
I would like to know what you guys think. Message me, leave a comment, or reblog it.

Weird People Have Cool Role Models
Tumblr media
Article by Ella Jarrard. Graphic by Allison Thompson.
As a highly unphotogenic person, I can honestly say that this is the first time I wish I could input a photo into my writing. I say this because I’d like all of you wonderful readers to truly grasp the picture I am about to paint for you.
I'll start this way. I was not a cool kid. I was four foot three til I was fourteen. Because of that, I rode with and carried a booster seat for the car until fourteen as well. I was a little shy, terminally unathletic, and, as a wonderful cherry on top- pretended I was a horse till 8th grade. Jumping over bus benches, hedges, and cantering (instead of running) was my preferred method of transportation- everywhere. I’d like to add that I in no way am ashamed of any of this- I miss my booster, I still get carsick without it, and I feel running consistently proves less effective than a good, brisk canter.
While this un-coolness seemed to be part of my blood, it wasn’t. My parents are cool- and I mean genuinely cool. My dad was a punk in the seventies and eighties, worked at the Minnesotan equivalent of CBGBs, seeing the starter shows of punk bands we now see on polyester shirts at department stores. He came from a bloodline of cool too- his Irish Catholic parents dabbled in being super-fans of the B52s, Janis Joplin, and early Gipsy Kings- his siblings followed as well. My mom’s first album was an ELO record, which served as a poppy base for a life filled with conflicting tastes- Led Zeppelin, New Order, Stevie Wonder. On the nights I came in early from pretending I had just won the Kentucky Derby, my parents would show me  a plethora of grainy concert videos of forgotten bands from the 80s, or sit me down at dinner for a lecture on how Ice Cube defined the diss track.
It was on one of these nights that I found my first cool rolemodel. Sweaty from explaining to my dachshund how what she was doing was not, in fact, a proper horse trot, I came inside to find a movie playing- it was called The Punk Singer. There on the screen was Kathleen Hanna, frontwoman of Bikini Kill and Le Tigre, and a leading voice of the Riot Grrrl movement of the 90s. I was instantly enthralled.
It shows Hanna explaining her vision, her immense adoration for Sonic Youth’s Kim Gordon, her love of clothespin jewelry, and her dauntless reactions to male violence while onstage. Although Hanna has that kind of effortless, messy beauty one tries to repeatedly replicate, her beauty wasn’t what struck me so deeply- it was her unwillingness to succumb to unrelenting disrespect and violent threats. She spoke of dodging beer cans thrown by pseudo punks who were angry about women infiltrating the Seattle scene, and, expectedly, of how those men proved to be the least punk punk fans ever made.
In The Punk Singer, her natural intelligence oozes out of her- it seems almost blasphemous to think that anyone- whether it be the press, fellow musicians, pseudo punk fans- could doubt or disrespect her, but they did, and constantly. The Riot Grrrl movement and Bikini Kill were both horribly disrespected by publications. They consistently implied Bikini Kill and other Riot Grrrl bands were young, untalented women parading around in their underwear instead of being prolific musicians who tried to make room for women in the physical and metaphorical punk mosh pit.
My starter level reverence for Kathleen Hanna grew astronomically within the hour and twenty two minute documentary. As I sat agape my thoughts of how to distress every Gap t-shirt in my closet in time for 7th grade tomorrow swirled rapidly. Soon the sparkly slogans like “Sassy and Classy” disappeared, replaced by a blunt tip sharpie which wrote “Anarchy in the U.K”. Gone was Monte Carlo from my Netflix favorites, it was now “Who Killed Nancy?”
There comes a time in many teenagers' lives where the wardrobe turns darker, the eyeliner gets thicker and deeper into the waterline, and the presence of self ripped black tights becomes constant. Despite it being possibly embarrassing, or horribly shameful to some parents, this time is so vitally important, especially to women. I say this backed solely by my own profound experience with a badass female role model. It was vital to me.
Tumblr media
Having an authentic, self-founded role model who finds us naturally, through pathways of shared interest- leads to further activation of our goals, aspirations and arguably, personal fulfillment. The term “self founded” is particularly vital in this role model concept. The narrowcasting of hyper feminine, largely stereotypical TV shows, movies and books where the main character is an overused archetype meant to define the female psyche, is damaging and polarizing to young women and gender diverse people everywhere. When one doesn’t fit into this stereotype, the stereotype often being thin, white, and secretly immensely privileged, one’s sense of self instantly becomes uncertain. Being prescribed a role model crafted by (most likely) all white men sitting in a writers room at Disney channel isn't what young women and gender diverse people need- they need to find someone who identifies with them deeply, who shows what they could become, someone who fulfills our future ambition just by being their cool, untamed selves.
Finding Kathleen Hanna was vital to me and my future. I no longer felt shy, no longer was embarrassed by my kind of dorky ‘horse’ habit, and felt much more inclined to express myself with music, art, and interests that weren’t widely shared among my peers. I loved hearing a young woman like Hanna be loud, and instantly wanted to start announcing myself like Bikini Kill did in the beginning of their songs.  I could combine interests like Hanna did with her passion in third wave feminism and her love with punk, and be comfortable knowing all of my interests were valid and correctly placed- horseback riding at stuffy equestrian centers was now accompanied by a perpetual soundtrack of the Sex Pistols, The Clash (much to my dad’s delight) and The Damned.
Looking back on my childhood now is like watching slides of different phases pass quickly, old interests vanished and were replaced by my big new thing. I feel proud of that, and as much as I am deeply embarrassed of some parts- like when I made my friends call me Ellore instead of Ella during my punk stage- a time they never have let me forget- I feel like each phase and role model is still deeply embedded in my soul. Kathleen Hanna made me who I am- I’d be nowhere as comfortable with myself and with my strong, unrelenting opinions without her and her strength in the RiotGrrrl movement. I never saw myself within the role models prescribed to me as a young girl, and it made me feel so deeply confused as to whether I was doing the whole preteen girl thing right.
I saw myself in Kathleen Hanna. I saw in her what I wanted to be, I saw in her what I wanted to say and fight for, and through that- I began to see myself.

what are your thoughts on the way some people are determined to stick with transfem roxy headcanons despite transmasc roxy in the epilogues, but those same people will claim that anyone who has transmasc john headcanons are being transmisogynists for not sticking with june, who hasnt even showed up in any canon explicitly?
Outright frustration.
It’s been an issue in the Homestuck community for some time now that there’s a very anti-male sentiment (where we can vilify men for doing anything and everything wrong, regardless of what reasonings they might have had behind what they did) and a completely uncritical pro-female drive (which isn’t inherently bad, except that it always returns to “the women can do nothing wrong, and any of their faults are immediately forgiven even if those faults were inherently abusive”).
It’s a sentiment where - for instance - people would defend Vriska to the death, irregardless of how bad she was or what new attrocities she’d committed, but then would completely denounce anyone who liked Dirk, failing to see the hypocracy of the two views.
This is especially more obvious in this instance, considering that Dirk actively tried to improve himself and escape from toxic masculinity while Vriska continued to be an abuser (suggesting that women are capable of causing greivous harm without question, but men will never be good enough no matter how much they try to better themselves - which then brings in the question of why should they even bother if they’ll still be demeaned for everything they’ve ever done wrong? Especially when a woman can paralyse a man for life and still be seen as a powerful rolemodel?).
I think a lot of it stems from two places:
A) Kate’s anti-male stance, and how loud her voice was (and still is) in the fandom - especially as a fan of Vriska who refused to see any of her faults but would completely defame any man, even those who hadn’t done anything wrong, simply for being “boring men”
B) People being fed up with toxic masculinity and desperately wanting strong, three-dimensional female characters who aren’t immediately killed off, which actually isn’t an inherent issue and is something that should be seen more in media - but can spark issues such as the ones seen above when the only good female rep you’ve been given isn’t actually that good at all, and yet you’ve got another dickhead man as the lead role
But that’s just cis men, right? It couldn’t possibly have any effect on how people see transmen. But the issue is, it really, really does. Because it’s not just “being a cis man” that’s the issue; it’s being masc-aligned at all.
The problem really hits hard when suddenly we’re not allowed representation for transmen. When being a woman is considered so much better that we completely ignore the fact that someone identifies as transmasc. It plays into the narrative that transmen are betraying their gender, are wrong for their decision, and should be corrected - such as by ignoring Roxy’s transmasculinity in favour of a cis or transfemme reading.
Which wouldn’t be so bad, perhaps, if we were allowed to do the same in return. If our representation is taken, because perhaps people want to take the female-coded character and retain her femininity, then we should be likewise able to take the male-coded character and retain his masculinity to replace our stolen rep.
But we’re not. We’re told that doing so is transmisogynistic - yet erasing or ignoring Roxy’s identity isn’t transphobic? The hypocracy is startling, and deeply worrying. Because it doesn’t do anything but portray transwomen as volatile fandom gatekeepers - and that is not the look we need to be giving transwomen at all.
We’re all trans. We’re all desperate for representation. We shouldn’t be fighting each other over this - but people like Kate help to perpetuate the idea that it’s okay, and that men (even transmen) are the bane of the Earth and shouldn’t be allowed to exist, so you can just ignore that and it’s fine.
But the fact is, you can’t in one breath claim transmisogyny for the refusal to accept the June headcanon (because, as of current, it is still just a headcanon) and then in the next overwrite any and all masc-aligned Roxy headcanons (as well as the canonicity in Meat). But as a fandom we’ve been doing it for so long to the cis characters, that it’s creeped into the trans characters as well.
It’s easier for people to justify doing this because there’s a long history of defaming the men and uncritically defending the women with cries of misogyny or lesbophobia for pointing out hypocritical thought (which is why, I think, we don’t see any transmasc Vriska headcanons; you could imagine the sheer amount of backlash that’d come from doing it, because it’d be much harder to see what Vriska does as acceptable if she identified as male).
So, it’s frustrating, yeah. Especially as a transman. Because our representation keeps getting overridden, and the cis men that we could associate with we’re meant to feel cripplingly guilting for sharing a gender with. There’s two transwomen in Homestuck, now, that people defend with vitriol, but the one transman we have isn’t even allowed to be ours. It’s admittedly upsetting. But it doesn’t feel like the sort of thing you can speak out about, because the fact is transwomen should be allowed to have their own representation, especially with how much struggle and strife they face both within and out of the community - just not at the price of eradicating ours.
(This also doesn’t go into the fact that, for Homestuck, any reading should technically be validated. After all, we see that in Candy, Roxy identifies as a nonbinary woman; in Meat, he identifies as a nonbinary man. Different timelines can have different gender identities, and each one is as valid as the other! But when you claim that you MUST draw June, you’re claiming that only ONE reading is valid - and that’s just not how Homestuck works. Especially if you then draw transfemme Roxy. That doesn’t read as you trying your best to stop transmisogyny; that’s just you picking and choosing what canon is and means for your own agenda).
(This is also why I’m starting to realise that canonising gender identities in Homestuck is just overall a bad idea. We’ve had so long to see these characters as actual blank slates to imprint our own experiences upon, that now we’re fighting to claim them all as OUR identity - rather than just allowing each to co-exist).

ehhh hi i hope you do not mind reviewing my snk oc! I'm sorry for any grammar mistakes or something, English is not my first language.. thank you in advance~
Basics Name: Ida Hoffmann Age: 16 Years Birthday: May 8th, 834 Birthplace: Wall Maria; Shiganshina District Species: Human Gender: Female
Affiliation: Scouting Legion Grad. Rank: 18 Kill Count: 3 [ 2 Solo, 1 assisted]
Appearance Ida is a short girl standing at 151cm and weighing 50kg. She has short, brown hair which she always wears in a high ponytail. She has dark green eyes and slightly tanned skin.
rowan: okay, she has short hair but wears it in a high ponytail. i know some short hair can be pulled back (like ymir's) but i don't think a high pony tail would work, unless it's at least medium-length.
a small critique, but it would bother me if i didn't point it out lol
Personality Ida is a compassionate person and cares for other people much, up to that point that she tends to stick her nose where it doesn’t belong so she can keep a close eye on others. She also always tries to cheer up those who might be upset about something and does everything in her possibilities to make them bright up. She treats everyone as nice as she can and always wears a smile on her face. Ida is overconfident with her actions, thinks she can do a certain something but actually can’t in the end. If someone asks Ida for an opinion, she clearly shows how indecisive she is, which is her biggest problem. The reason for that is what happened in Shiganshina, the happenings put her in a state where she’s very unsure about her decisions, which also shows that she isn’t a good leader person. She is also not stubborn and easily gives in if other people want something from her. Her actions are unpredictable, she often surprises others with the things she says or does, and a quite annoying habit of hers is to make (stupid) jokes.
She is superficial and shortsighted, and doesn't pay enough attention to the details of something, which in the end makes her judge situations too quickly. That is why she notices too late if, for example, her comrades need her help. But since she cares deeply about her comrades she'd always attempt to save them. Having made terrible decisions during the battles of Trost, which almost got her comrades killed, this slowly starts to take a toll on her emotional health, that's why she always keeps a smile on her face, to hide how guilty she feels.
Likes: Drawing, she did that ever since she was a little child, her brother brought her to it. Sleeping in. Since her constant training doesn't give her quite many chances to sleep, and she really loves to sleep, she takes every chance she has to sleep, even going to sleep sooner than all the other cadets. She likes to gossip, a lot. She can't stay quiet and always is blabbering about something (even though it might not make much sense).
rowan: i find it peculiar she enjoys "gossiping" since that involves talking about other people and their personal affairs behind their back. since she is a kind and caring person, i can't see her enjoying something like that tbh
Dislikes: Making decisions. She takes too long to decide and most of the times the decisions she makes are not even good. Rain, snow, winter as it's too cold for her, she dislikes cold weather as she's cold easily. Snootiness, especially regarding the military police, she thinks the people in there are "smug assholes".
Abilities/Statistics Ida is not an outstanding soldier, but she always tries to improve herself and get better day by day. The only thing that is indeed mentionable is how well she can handle the 3DMG.
3DMG: 10/10 Hand-on-Hand Combat: 2/10 Battle Skill: 6/10 Initiative: 3/10 Wits: 3/10 Strategy: 2/10 Teamwork: 2/10 Spontaneity: 10/10
She always manages to figure out something rather creative and probably very risky in heat moments. In hand-on-hand combat especially, doing things that confuse the opponent so she gets to have her chance. E.g. she yells out suddenly something to irritate her opponent [ aka "Holy hell, look, there, in the sky!" ] and then tries to take him down.
rowan: if she is good at quick/random thinking like that, i would increase her wits a little bit and make it a 5. same with hand-to-hand combat. with the skill that low, it means she is such a lousy fighter than anybody good beat her, even if she uses sneaky tactics like trying to distract them. she could take a swing, and they wouldn't even budge lol
so i would make her combat skill a 4 at the least.
i feel like since she cares so much for her teammates, her teamwork skill should be higher since she would have no problem working with them. with it being low, it sounds like she isn't a team player at all. i would make it an 8. so her new stats would look something like this:
3DMG: 10/10 Combat: 4/10 Battle Skill: 6/10 Initiative: 3/10 Wits: 5/10 Strategy: 2/10 Teamwork: 8/10 Spontaneity: 10/10
Background She grew up rather normally in the Shiganshina district, having a loving mother caring about her as her father passed away before she was born. Ida was known in Shiganshina as the girl pestering people daily with her good mood and many many questions. Ida had a brother, Martin, who head off to the military, and graduated to later join the Stationary Guard, who was also a victim of Ida's curiousity about literally everything. Ida loved her brother really much, and saw him as a rolemodel and always told everyone how "cool and awesome" he was. Since Ida was a open-minded girl and friendly, she had many friends she'd hang out with outside daily.
Everything was quite fine until the day when wall maria got breached. Ida managed to survive that day, but had to watch how her own brother got eaten right before her eyes just because he wanted to save her from getting eaten. She managed to get to the saving gate eventually and as Ida glanced back at the district sitting in the refugee boat, and caught sight of the armored titan, she realized she would join the military just like her brother, to learn how to defeat titans and not just stand there doing nothing like that day. She wanted to revenge her brother and fulfill his wish he had told her right before he got eaten - survive.
rowan: you mention she had a caring mother, but make no other mention of her. did she die during the fall of wall maria?
Ida joined the 104th Trainees Squad in Trost two years later. She had her problems in the beginning, more than once standing on the edge of failing the training, yet she managed to stay strong and always would find a way to get through it, no matter how hard it was. She grew close to her comrades since she's really compassionate and always tried to help everyone with their problems.
As she was having to decide whether to join the Scouting Legion or the Stationary Guard, she was about to choose the Stationary Guard because she wanted to chose the same path as her brother, but then the wall got breached again. During the battles of Trost, Ida managed to kill one titan and she realized what she really wanted. She wanted to be finally free, and she knew the only possibility to become free was to join the Scouting Legion and try to find a way to erase these titans outside the walls. Surviving, she joined the Survey Corps in the end along the 21 of the 104th Trainees squad who chose to do so.
She had a strong change of heart. Martin's wish of course stuck in her head, and now she feels guilty because she basically broke that promise as the chance to die is rather high in the Survey Corps. In the end the prospect of helping humanity with joining the Survey Corps convinced her. She thinks if she's able to kill titans until her death, she'd really revenge her brother after all.
Relationships Close Friends: Sasha, Marco, Jean Friends: Armin, Reiner, Connie
Annemarie Hoffmann: Ida gets along well with her mother. When Ida was younger and used to have stupid ideas a lot her mother would often get mad at her but that never lasted very long. Since Ida's father died early, it was her mothers job alone to raise Ida and her brother, so they grew really close. Ida is glad to know her mother is save, though her mother isn't really fond of the idea that Ida chose to join the Survey Corps, which would cause an argument whenever they see each other. Despite that, Ida loves her mother deeply.
Martin Hoffmann: Ida used to call him the 'world's best brother'. Martin always cheered Ida up when she was upset and often protected her from her mothers' chastize. He is also the reason Ida never cried again just because he told her once to never do it again after she once had started crying when her mother was mad at her. They had a very loving and caring relationship, even though he used to tease her rather often.
Sasha Braus: It was clear on day one the two of them would get along well. Ida was immediately on a wavelength with her and Sasha was the one who'd always manage to make Ida genuinely laugh. Ida thinks it's cute how much Sasha loves food, and she'd usually spend her time around her. With time they build such a strong friendship that they could understand each other without words - You can just look at them and immediately say the two of them are best friends.
Marco Bott: Whenever Ida talked to Marco, he reminded her of her deceased brother. He was as equally nice, caring, and so refreshing to be around that she liked him immediately and cared for him and he ended up being Ida's best friend, though their friendship wasn't as close as his and Jean's. Ida was very shocked when she found out he was dead, which also brought her close to the edge of crying, but since she wanted to fulfill her brother's wish, to never cry, she didn't. She does get sad whenever someone mentions him.
Jean Kirstein: Since Ida used to hang around with Marco, it wasn't preventable to also stumble upon Jean. His attitude immediately interested her and soon she found herself developing a crush on him. She never told him though, as she didn't wanted to destroy their friendship. Still, both of them have a close friendship which built with time (And patience, the two of them argued so often [about mostly stupid things] they lost count). She envies him greatly for his leader capability and does see him in a leading position some time in the future. She's almost always blushing when she talks to him though. After Marco's death, the two of them got even closer. They build each other up, often teasingly and rely on each other, though he does get angry with her often because her traits remind him of the ones he used to have.
rowan: thank you for submitting your oc to us! ida seems like a pretty simple and well-rounded oc. with all her qualities, comes her flaws so i can see she is pretty realistic and balanced.
there were a few things i thought didn't add up, so you are welcome to take my advice or not!

Haikyuu Family Headcanons
Okay so my friend @panbitchx and i spent the whole day thinking about the family lives of some of our haikyuu boys since the anime gives us little to nothing about it for most of them,,,,,,so enjoy what we came up with!
This is only part 1 with all the karasuno first years. More parts will follow!
Hinata
So we know about him growing up with his mom and his little sister Natsu
Since their household is female dominated Hinata never had a problem with doing “girly stuff” like playing tea parties or smth with his sister because he knows it doesn’t make him less of a man or anything and it’s just normal to him !
Hinata always uses a fruity shampoo which is because when they were little shoyo and natsu took baths together and used the same shampoo. He grew up just using the shampoo that his mom and sister use as well because why bother buying a different one when it smells so good??
He’s naturally a cheerful and happy person but it was for sure greatly influenced by his sister. When she was a baby he always tried to make her laugh
All in all a sweet older brother, his mom raised him well, 10/10 would recommend as son
Kageyama
We had a bit of a conflict with this one because it could go exactly two ways with him
Possibility #1 is the obvious choice of him being an only child
If he grew up without siblings he for sure fell into the classic role of a selfish only child who was spoiled by his parents
He didn’t really adapt to the concept of teamwork which is what ultimately resulted in his King-phase in middle school
As a child he was used to things going his way and compromising was just not something he had to deal with a lot so he became very demanding, especially since there was a gap in talent between him and his fellow players
Possibility #2 for his family is him having an older brother!
His brother is about the same age as Tsukishima’s brother and they probably are friends too, maybe they were even on the same volleyball team in high school
Kageyama’s brother is actually quite similar with Akiteru,,,a very sweet guy who loves his brother and plays volleyball, he brought the sport to his sibling and taught Kageyama the basics, he also realized that the younger boy learns rather quick
He left the house rather early for college so Kageyama did end up spending a lot of his childhood on his own
The only problem with their dynamic was that their parents kind of favored their oldest son. They were really proud of him because he is very smart and succeeds well academically. It’s not Kageyama’s fault tho, since he was still rather young while his brother was busy at high school and impressing their parents
However because of this Kageyama felt kind of neglected and had this need to be successful as well. He put everything he had into volleyball since school stuff was pretty boring to him. He wanted to make his parents proud too but he slowly turned from ambitious to demanding which again resulted in his emo middle school King reputation
The relationship between Kageyama and his brother is not that bad tho, of course there is jealousy on Kageyama’s behalf and this subconscious need to be better or just like him,,but he also just really looks up to his brother and wants to make his parents proud like he did
His brother is also the reason why he admired Oikawa in middle school since he reminded Kageyama of his brother!
Our first choice for canon would be possibility #1 but we both enjoyed the second theory
Tsukishima
So we already know much about this household but we’ll go through it anyways
Akiteru and their father are very similar personality-wise but he looks more like their mom i think this is canon but i’m not sure while Tsukki looks more like their dad
Their father is really tall, probably also used to be an athlete,,,,also tsukki got his bad eyesight from him
Their mom however is short and really beautiful, also looks rather young. It happened more than once before that she and Tsukishima went shopping and people mistook her for his older sister!
I love that Tsukki is canonly a dinosaurs kid. He probably still has some figures standing in his room to this day but the only ones who see it are just his family or Yamaguchi anyways so why bother storing them away?
But all in all we know most of his family stuff canonly
Yamaguchi
So for this cutie we settled on him having like 2 older sisters
Both of them are really confident and cool and beautiful
Yams is pretty shy because he kinda grew up as the baby of the family, his sisters both being a few years older so he had everyone in the family cherishing him since he’s just adorable
He looks up to his sisters a lot because they are outgoing, confident, strong and independent women. They are kind of his rolemodels in that aspect!
Both of them would literally fight anyone who tries to hurt their baby brother, wouldn’t want to mess with these ladies,,they adore him but who wouldn’t
Yamaguchi is also a great son to have, he’s a caring person because he grew up in a very loving household with his parents and sisters!
Let me know if u got any additions or interjections for these since these are just our theories!!

Any people stanning Margaret Thatcher as a ‘Strong Female Rolemodel’ should know:
She released some anti-LGBT legislation (section 28) that resulted in the shutting down of gay clubs and safe spaces (and also the enforced erasure of LGBT identities in both the education system and the literary world).
She privatised the mining industry, which led to many of the mining families (in the north of England and Wales in particular) to fall into starvation and poverty ,which has literally not ended in the worst-hit areas (e.g mining towns) since.
Being the first female English Prime Minister doesn’t excuse what she/her party did to people while she was in office and that thing alone isn’t a reason to call her ‘strong’/‘inspirational’ or whatever.
