1st century Feast day: October 28 Patronage: lost causes, desperate situations, hospitals St. Jude Thaddeus was the brother of St. James the Less and a cousin of Our Lord. Jude is usually pictured with a picture of Our Lord because he cured the King of Edessa from leprosy in the name of Jesus, a club because he was martyred by being beaten to death with a club and a flame of fire because he was present at Pentecost. He is very popular as the patron of impossible cases.

Saint Simon the Apostle Patronage: tanners, saw men, woodcutters, curriers (leather specialist) Saint Simon was one of the twelve Apostles surnamed the Zealot. He was zealous for the honor of Christ and exact in all the duties of the Christian life. He showed a pious indignation towards those who profess the faith with their mouths but not their lives. He preached the Gospel in Egypt and Persia joining St. Jude (Thaddaeus) along the way. The saw is his attribute because he was believed martyred by being cut in half.

I heard rumors before yesterday that “there was going to be trouble,” “the KKK was going to be there” and on top of that the Governor threatening military-style intervention if there was trouble.😟 Before I went to the courthouse, I admit that I was fearful and a lot of that had to do with images of violence during protests that we have been bombarded with, but when I arrived there was NOTHING TO BE AFRAID OF.🙌🏻 The reality is there was a good-sized group of people who were there in peace and solidarity. Yes, there was ONE broke-ass old racist who walked through the crowd with his confederate flag shirt trying to incite a reaction. And he did, he made us MORE united and MORE resolved to fight for justice.✊🏻 The audacity for anyone to show up in support of Ahmaud’s killers was a stark reminder that these cowards are here among us. But remember that WE ARE STRONGER. That racist was escorted out and there were no other issues. There was law enforcement present, it did not seem excessive to me, and I did feel safe. I know getting out and protesting isn’t for everyone but if you want to, DO IT. We had such a fun day yesterday, selling oeaches, soap and goofing around as only the Farmpit gals and Peach Stand boys can do. We can't wait to do it all again today! And, as one of the Peach Stand fells, Clay, is having a baby on Thursday, this will be the last peach stand for a while so we are doubling down! Extra peaches! Not only will we be at the Peach Stand all day today, but there is also a whole Peach Season Block Party from 11-4 at Georgia Olive Oil Co. in Redfern Village! Live music, peachy cocktails and all sorts of peach foods, we can't wait to eat the day away! So come visit us at the Peach Stand then head next door to Georgia Olive Oil Co, have a cocktail, listen to some great love music and get inspired by all the things you can do with peaches. We are also really excited to try the Impossible Burgers from GA Olive Oil. They are supposed to be the most insanely realistic veggie burgers to ever be made.
