Yesterday I took the LSAT. Today I had my first “crap, I have to study— wait, no I don’t.” moment. I don’t know how the test went yet, and won’t for a few weeks, but I can tell you that after 6 months of balancing studying with working full time, the feeling of finishing it is one of the best I’ve had in a while. Hooray for the (temporary) end of studying. Hooray for moving forward. Oh, and happy Pride Month y’all! 🌈

So. I missed a couple days. I was kind of drowning in work, but I’m back now. This is the wallpaper I currently have for my laptop. It’s made by @emmastudies because I’ve recently become obsessed with the backgrounds she makes. They’re so pretty, and I love them. So yeah, hopefully I can get my act together for this week.

I am quite the stationery hoarder, but having a job, I always get this « ok but you earn this money with hours of your life, do you really need these fancy pens? » and thus i do not buy as much as i wish i would. Still, I love notebooks, i have way too many. And don’t get me started on washi tape. There’s a reason why i left my collection out of this pic. Too many.

hi, i’m emily!! and after having lurked on here for a while but never actually starting my own studyblr, @lifewithliekee‘s november challenge finally made me want to actually start my own studyblr for real

some facts about me

i’m 16

i’m from the netherlands

i’m in 5 gymnasium, the dutch equivalent of junior year or lower 6th form

i grew up bilingual (dutch and english) so now i really love learning languages

i’m a ravenclaw but unfortunately not the hardworking kind

when i’m not studying (which is most of the time) i enjoy watching netflix, dancing, bullet journaling and petting my cat

also i’m constantly having crises about uhh every aspect of my life including but not limited to my sexuality, school and life choices

my main is phansterdam (yes i run a phan blog AND WHAT ABOUT IT)

my classes

in dutch secondary education you have to choose a profile which dictates which subjects you can/have to choose. i have the e+m profile (economics and society) and so my subjects this year are:

dutch

accelerated ancient greek

economics

history

philosophy

maths a (also known as easy maths)

literature in context

classical cultural education (ckv/kcv in dutch)

and last and absolutely least, gym

goals

improve my study habits before my final year exams

make some new friends

get more motivated + stop procrastinating so much

Day 01/02: November (Introduction/This Month)

I’m behind because I just so happened to visit today and find this challenge. Please forgive me! I’ll just double down. 

My name is Kayla. I’m twenty-five and I’m currently in Spain. I’ve been here for a month and so far have learned so much. I’m currently learning and studying Gallego and Castellano because here in Galicia, they are bilingual (and have a very strong sense of identity attached to their language) but I’ve always been fascinated by languages. I’ve studied (and still study) Japanese, Chinese, Korean, and Norwegian. I am not good in all of them. I can read Japanese and Chinese because of my fascination with comics. I can read Korean because of the subtitles on the shows I used to watch. I can read/write in Spanish and I can speak it decently but would love to practice and so am using this challenge as inspiration for doing my work.  

I also construct languages (which was the primary function of this blog until it went dry about a year ago - I stopped using it when I applied to Spain because of the stress of maintenance). Now that I’m here and back in the mood of language building and learning, I’m going to start using it again to hold myself accountable. I’m a big fan of a few things including the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Kingsman (TSS), and Avatar: The Last Airbender. I’m a big fan of traveling and so I teach English as a Second Language and travel through work or english-teaching related methods. Once this year is done, I plan to move and teach in Korea. I’m a very chatty person and love getting into conversations. Si tu quieres hablar conmigo, please send me a message.

November Challenge - day 28 STUDY BREAKS

Those are important but I still don't master them. I only had an exam today and now I'm done for the week so I'm just relaxing after my singing class. I'm very excited for tomorrow though.

I didn't post yesterday because I was embarrassed that I only had done like twenty minutes of studying, but then I realized that 20 minutes is better than nothing.

Today I went to visit a friend who works at Starbucks then we're going to play DnD later. I'm already on the "D's" for my list of medications

I am majoring in archaeology and (probably) Latin American studies, with a minor in Spanish

I love dancing! And I am currently choreographing my first dance piece

The highlights will probably be my viola recital on Saturday, my Science Olympiad meet (which I didn’t write down), and the induction ceremony for the National Honors Society (forgot to write this too).
