Nerd-to-nerd communication
Something super pointless and self-indulgent I've had on the backburner for a while. I love trying to make the pieces they gave us fit together!
Al-AN and Robin would absolutely bond over learning about each other's biology. I could talk about this forever but I'll get into all of the headcanons I have for these two in another post eventually
Below the cut is another version with some extra bits and pieces and the transcription
Transcript :
Architect Anatomy A. Architect "Brain" - Doesn't "store" information so much as allow for easy communication with the network B. Brainstem - connects the information received to the central nervous/circulatory system C. "Heart" - Circulatory system pumps the bioluminescent fluid to other organ systems and surface veins. Each node connects to a vast vasculature network D. "Kidneys" - Organs that filter the bioluminescent "blood" and other bodily fluids, absorbing and distributing collected material E. Nerve Center - Receives raw sensory data and filters it. Filtering can be unconscious or intentional
Tumblr media
F. "Respiratory" Tract - Intakes gases or liquids and filters out material for use. Disposes of waste on exhale. Provides cooling to internal systems
The respiratory tract functions less like a set of lungs and more akin to a computer's cooling system, with the ability to absorb material from the environment to use in other parts of the body. It also would likely help the architect's body analyze the environment it is currently exposed to on a molecular level. It is also truly unidirectional, with the intake vents near the "collarbone" and the exhaust vents on both sides of the abdomen
The architect organ cache in-game felt like it was definitely not a complete model of the internal organs, so I wanted to come up with something to fill some more space. I also just really liked the idea of Al-An being capable of something similar to breathing, without having a respiratory system in the traditional sense. Feel free to use any of this in your own headcanons if you would like :)
BONUS - a gif of all the layers!

Could you please tag me for "I am not a baby!"? You managed to find such a neat three-way crossover, and I absolutely love it. It's a shame you haven't played Sub-Zero though; Al-an is definitely the high light of that game, even if there isn't as much content as the OG game.
This is the first ask I've ever gotten :0
Yeah I can tag you! I've been obsessed with Subnautica recently so I thought why not smash that together with the other things I'm obsessing over? I might play below Zero soon after I finish my current playthrough of Subnautica. I don't know about Al-an though, from what I've heard he's an interesting character but I'm still mad at what the precursors did to fish mama. >:(
I haven't played the game so this might not be accurate. Just Al-an meeting a baby Danny and assuming all human babies are kinda feral and really cute. Danny having his PDA play an audio clip that just says "piss off," Every time he sees Al-an. Al-an doesn't know what this means but he's certain it isn't a greeting.

Holy smokes it's Solace Subnautica (not really)
Tumblr media
Took me a while, but I finally did it! Uncoloured sketch for now because I am too tired to colour xD
All annotations and extra information (since I know it's hard to read the image :P):
On the left there's Jonesy the ship's cat (named so because of the cat from Alien) and the right there's Solace, the not cat human
Physicist
I just like physics, it fascinates me :)
Gave Ryley Jonesy at some point
I really like the idea of Ryley ending up with the ship's cat (maybe that's what the biscuits are for) so my idea was that after Solace found out about the Aurora going down (more on that later) he couldn't bear to see Jonesy in his lifepod later on, and so gave him away to try to get rid of the attachment he had. Solace became decent friends with Ryley, and since he'd shown interest before (being a janitor, I like to think that Ryley fed Jonesy from time to time) he was the perfect candidate!
Did he die in the crash? Maybe, maybe not...
Well, I'm hoping not, since I just made him, but I need to figure out how to fit him into the plot of the game, haha
Knew that the Aurora was going to crash due to a build-up in atmospheric pressure
So you know how I said I liked physics? Yeah, so that doesn't mean I know much about it xD but I'm imagining some kind of EMP blast (from the gun on the island?) knocked the Aurora out of the sky as it was using the orbit of the planet to traverse past it (I think the demo of the game mentions something like this? But the full release leaves it a mystery). So the pressure is caused by the blast being charged onto it, like how when a lightning strike is about to hit near you, you can tell (because hair sticking up, etc.) Anyways, Solace realises this, brings it up with the higher ups and ultimately gets shut down because there was no way they were taking the risk of speeding up and wasting fuel or turning around, and besides, what were they supposed to do? There wasn't anything in protocol for that sort of thing. Solace couldn't let go of the feeling of dread, and was able to calculate with the amount of pressure behind the blast just how many survivors would remain after 48 hours of impact. 0.
Anyway! Terrible sketch page below, while I was trying to bring together some ideas:

Hope everyone thinks this concept is as cool as I do ^-^

thinking about Subnautica below 0 again and this post has spoilers for that so careful when reading
But man. I understand, alright? I get the need to study microbiology. It's important! You need to understand what you're dealing with on every scale, you need to figure out how the world works if you're to live in harmony with it.
But then you read all the khaara test logs left everywhere by the scientists and like. They're not Umbrella labs trying to weaponize it or anything but they're still basically going
"So this disease has infected every form of life we've exposed to it, is transmissible through every vector we've thought to test, has a mortality rate of 100% regardless of species, and after the death of the host it remains infectious for a length of time we have found no endpoint for. But! We're geniuses, so creating variants of it to study cannot possibly have any consequences :)"
It's really no surprise one of them became a terrorist and started blowing up all their labs.

I'm gonna start playing Subnautica Below Zero now so wish me luck, since unlike the first Subnautica, I have 0 knowledge of this game besides some blurry parts of the early story bits and big worms

Streamer suggests family road trip as bonding experience. Then takes 10 minutes to figure how to get car out of garage, losing a car door in the attempt. But we all pile in anyway.
5 minutes later, forgets park break and has to chase down car full of screaming particles.
Peak road trip stream.
