about illario working with the venatori, we can't forget that elgar'nan gifted him blood magic, so I do think that he somewhat influenced him and that's why he's so much more vindictive and jealous in comparison to tevinter nights. I don't mean that he's being mind controlled, but it's a bit like cyrian, a god just amplifying those negative emotions in you and promising power and glory can push a person to that edge and to make stupid af decisions.

im also not forgetting that zara line in inner demons where she talks about an envy demon. like. why an envy demon in specific...there's THINGS between zara and illario that were not shown

no literally if you get me talking about illario + envy + the possibility of getting him possessed, you will have me here for fucking ever. a non mage doing blood magic (any magic at all) is really weird and interesting to me and i don’t remember an example of this happening before (feel free to correct me tho lol. i’m discounting possessions and dwarves)

i had started wildly theorising after bloodbath that he had been possessed and he was tapping into the fade using an envy demon. especially like you said, zara mentions it, AND because i swear there’s a codex in the ossuary where it mentions an envy demon whereas spite is obviously determination, right? so i thought it was a breadcrumb trail to a big “illario is being influenced and doesn’t even know” reveal— same as you anon like great minds am i right— but i’m not sure there is actually any evidence of that lol. like maybe if you squint but i do believe it was explained away by “oh yeah, and elgarnan let him do special blood magic”

it does also make sense to me that illario can only control lucanis, due to being part of the same family. a bloodline thing, and it is very poetic to me that their shared family connection in caterina is what allows him to control lucanis, even for a moment lol. spite being the extra magical boost that lucanis needs to block that out ALSO makes sense to me so i’m not too fussed abt these details lol🤔

the envyllario in my heart also gets spectral weapons for himself. lucanis gets wings, illario gets talons, PLUS green-purple are complementary colors so it would have been really fun to see them clash with their spirit/demon-powers. the talon thing is also a kind of reflection of his end-goal desire, how envy demons already have those freaky hands, and it manifests as claws and is a much more aggressive, strength-augmenting manifestation (as opposed to manoeuvrability and speed-augmenting that spite’s wings give lucanis.) anyways that's what the diagram above is supposed to be (this is extremely hot to me)

Fun facts upon thee:

- 1x1x1x1 was created from Telamon's spine, kind of an accident... Cause Telamon was looking to get rid of his impurities (hatred) and YIKES R. I. P

- 1x1x1x1 was originally in a shell, yk, egg... Egg shell, but he quite literally came out as a grown man. Not a kiddo (imagine how fucking confused Telamon was)

- John Doe was banished underneath the map in a prison by Telamon and Builderman, he's been stuck there ever since

- John Doe loves 1x1x1x1's company, he's a lonely guy after all and seeing someone like him (corrupted) is comforting

- Telamon despises 1x1x1x1 for a few reasons, one being that he is stealing the attention of the NPCs which Telamon specifically designed to worship HIM (okay vro) and the second being is that he seems 1x1x1x1 as unstable and, possibly, a danger to everything he ever built and created

- Telamon lost the Venomshank and the Domino Crown during the fight with John Doe, which 1x1x1x1 later found hidden deep underneath the ground in a forest while digging for worms for a quest

- 1x1x1x1 despises Fried Chicken (damn I wonder why)

- 1x1x1x1 gained a scar on his right eye during a quest to retrieve a valuable item (juice box) and when he put on the Domino Crown, the FIRST thing that changed was the right side of his face where the scar was

- Builderman is basically a spy and a local gossiper. He constantly is watching 1x1x1x1 for Telamon in case he "goes berserk"

- Telamon secretly enjoys when Builderman grooms his wings (he doesn't wanna admit it)

- the NPCs see 1x1x1x1 as some sort of town hero, cause he does all the labor for them. 1x1x1x1 was born without a purpose, so all the good things he's doing is just for a selfish need to find a PURPOSE instead of doing it for the good of all.

- 1x1x1x1 canonically (in this au) after the Domino Crown and change of appearance, is absolutely snatched because YES.

- Builderman is bad at disguises but 1x1x1x1 humors him sometimes

- 1x1x1x1 despises Telamon for creating him, especially without a purpose. (Yes, seriously) and also kinda because he discarded 1x1x1x1 amongst other NPCs without a word

- 1x1x1x1 before the Domino Crown (NPC 1111 basically) sounded like N from Murder Drones. Obviously this changes to how he sounds like in the game Forsaken

- Immortals have black tint at the ends of their arms and legs, as to why is unknown, but this makes it easier to spot an immortal being in the public

- John Doe never used his voice before talking to 1x1x1x1 when they meet, and also his corruption makes it harder to speak, so his voice is VERY distorted. The typing quirk when he speaks attemps to indicate that.

now, while i do enjoy veilguard (like... a lot)

i do find myself wondering if it's just me or that the mourn watch quests (including emmrichs questline) are probably some of the best writing in that game.

like yeah, ive been biased towards nevarra and the mourn watch when i first played dai and what not.

but like... they FEEL like they are some of the games best writing?? ESPECIALLY emmrichs questline

ok now that ive actually finished veilguard

i rly did love it!! and also hate parts of it unfortunately :/

the environments are gorgeous, they did an excellent job balancing story and exploration. the gameplay is so fun, i was worried about the combat changes but its great! (i still wish the player character had access to more abilities at once but w/e), the music was great

the downside comes from the writing. it just feels so... shallow? there's so much material in the areas and topics of the game, but they didnt engage with that, and it makes the world feel watered down, or glossed over. its like the game is avoiding dealing with any subject thats too complicated or messy.

it makes me feel like none of what we saw was fully covered! what do you mean the game is over, we havent really dug into this! which sucks bc i doubt they'll be retreading any of this territory in future games :c

the antagonists, aside from solas, were also by and large, really flat. again this feels like its another symptom of not really engaging with the material in a meaningful way

but actually what really gets me is ending that post credits stinger (which... no comment.) with "the veilguard remains vigilant" as IF we're gonna see these character in a major part again!! dragon age doesnt do returning protagonists even when it might actually make more narrative sense

ive probably said it better before, but cant find the posts because this website has the worst search function known to all mankind -_- so i will give you some bullet points that will not be all inclusive and i invite anyone else who wants to chime in to do so!!

while the devs are definitely trying to streamline new player experience, the story is uh. a lot! the game has like, what, 11yrs worth of content behind it by now? there's a lot! depending on your playstyle and how you progress through the game, it might take you a while to really get into the meat of it -- or you might speedrun all the main storylines in like a month. there are lots of side quests and secondary objectives you can dick around with as much as you like, which some people find fun and some people find annoying. i liek it :) but it can definitely be a lot

there have been a lot of time limited events and hidden lore entries that make some things pretty inaccessible to new players. they seem to be trying to get better about this but its still not ideal. the wiki is not always right (afaik, theyre still hung up on whether or not albrecht and loid were ~canonically~ together, which is literally just blatantly textual) but it can be a good place to find summaries of shit you've missed out on. ive never watched a single one of those 'warframe lore explained' videos so i cannot vouch for any of their accuracy. i dont really pay attention to the subreddit or the official forums either, but those might have information too? idk

i personally find that some of the quests are thrown at you wayyyyy earlier than they should -- heart of deimos is one that i strongly believe should be way more lategame than it is, since it builds on a lot of stuff that you probably won't know by the time you get to it unless youve been paying veryvery close attention or have been going wiki spelunking. i wouldnt stress about it too much if something seems to make no fucking sense, though. most quests are replayable if you want to go back to something with fresh eyes or different context

i have probably already spoiled you on a lot of the lategame stuff and for that im sorry! lmao this isnt really a game where spoilers will ruin something per se, but since ive been playing the game since like 2013 i went into everything blind as it was released and i always had a huge blast when the game dropped a bombshell on us, so i try not to rob anyone of that experience if i can help it -- not a huge deal though depending on preference

there's a lot of grinding and farming. i personally dont find it overly tedious as there's a lot to do and it's easy to mix things up and take breaks, but for some people it's a huge turn off, so just a heads up i guess. you can technically bypass a lot of the grind by buying new frames or weapons off the market if you really want to spend your money on that, but there's some things that are locked behind a reputation grind and such. and honestly, you dont Need to spend money on anything but some cosmetics

trying to play through everything solo might be fun if you enjoy a challenge, but i personally find it to be unsustainable. you're going to want to find a decent sized clan and you're going to want to either find friends to play with or hit up the recruiting chat for backup.

you can make platinum pretty easy by farming prime parts or rare mods and other such tradeable things and selling them to other players. i dont bother with this because im bad at keeping up on video game economies and it never interested me. but it makes being a 100% f2p player a lot easier when you need to buy inventory slots and such

there are over 50 warframes and countless ways to mod each one, and an absurd amount of different weapons -- there isnt really any one playstyle thats 'better' than any other. i perosnally pay next to no attention to the meta outside of keeping in mind what damage types are effective against which enemies. some people really enjoy minmaxxing the hell out of their shit. you can kinda just do whatever

don't buy plat without having at least a 50% discount login bonus unless it is an absolute emergency. the discounts are random but ive found they happen often enough that i can just wait around for one to pop up and replenish if i'm low. or dont bother idk i cant tell you how to spend your money im not your dad

mute region chat for the sake of your own sanity. nobody in there is as funny as they think they are. moderation is better in there than it used to be but it's still a wasteland

the most important part of playing warframe is having fun and being yourself :)
