thought that hit me like a brick last night- i was thinking of dusk/bruno as like a minor deconstruction of the forbidden romance trope (where it was doomed to fail because the two of them liked the thrill and the escapism of it more than they actually liked one another as people) but also like, what makes a good forbidden romance to me is the risks involved for both people….. but the only one who was ever going to be punished for dusk and bruno’s relationship was dusk because she doesnt have as much power as bruno does
#why did i give this relationship to parent characters that wont get this nuance and development from castors pov in the story….#like. dusk isnt innocent in the slightest but she basically got the shame and punishment from both her associates AND brunos#because the skorupi kinda literally worship bruno. they may be frustrated at him sure#but they are not going to lash out at him. because he cant do any wrong in their eyes except leave them#his situation also sucks a lot for him but the consequences just arent the same. they probably see it as like. dusk managed to seduce him#meanwhile dusk lost her home and the friends and family she’d known for most of her life overnight#and moved into an environment that physically wasnt right for her and thrust into a role she didnt want but had to take under her circu#circumstances#suddenly taking care of two children when she has no experience and sort of a suffocating husband#where uhhhh everyone except her husband obviously despises her and antagonize her#sure bruno was willing to toss around his power for her and keep it from being tooooo bad but its still a shitty situation#compared to him who just kinda lost the respect of a few people#and then once she leaves that frustration and ostracization gets directed at castor….#like again shes not innocent but she didnt deserve this….#echoed voice#oc posting

I have some fluffy fuzzy thoughts to share... I feel like Patrick is one of those people that babies just unexpectedly LOVE
Like imagine he's at a gathering with Art's family and someone asks him to hold their very new, very small, very breakable baby while they're in the bathroom.
Patrick freaks out expecting high pitched wails and a lifetime ban from Donaldson family BBQs.
But turns out his big strong hands are good for holding little people as well as rackets...
ohhhh <3 this is so, so important to me <3
Because Patrick is the type to loudly and frequently say he hates kids. His experience with children comes down to his older brother's hellspawn that make the pretty young au pairs he hires gray prematurely. Nasty, dirty, loud, annoying, persistent. The kind of kids that need to be told No, but never are.
Art's family is different. It takes a village, and all that. His cousin Beth is a teen mom, with a cute, fat little baby that has the same blonde curls as its mother. It has two front teeth already, a gummy little smile when Art's grandmother feeds it bites of some tater tot hotdish that would send Patrick's bubbe into cardiac arrest.
Art happily holds the baby in his arms and he seems comfortable enough. There are so many young kids running around that Patrick figures he has experience with that sort of thing. In his eighteen years of life, Patrick has managed to hold one baby, at age fourteen, when his older brother had his first kid.
The baby blinks up at him, its eyes wide and brown like Beth's are. Beth— who's off making fruit salad and dumped her kid into the first pair of open arms she could find. It's outfit is stupid— a little set of overalls with pockets that have muppets sticking out. What the fuck do babies need pockets for?
"It keeps staring at me," he complains, trying to move in front of Art to break the creepy eye contact, which doesn't work.
"Stop calling him it," Art insists, face twisting with annoyance as he bounces the baby in his arms. "His name is Noah."
Patrick sighs. "Noah won't stop staring at me. It's freaking me out, so make him stop."
Art laughs at that, grinning in that annoying way he does when he thinks he knows what Patrick's thinking. So what if most of the time he does? "What? He's a baby, I can't just make him stop. You're being weird."
No. Weird was the way that Art's family acted. He knew the detachment in his family wasn't normal, but the closeness, the joking, the passing babies and kids and hugging was weird. It was weird that they had potlucks where they would eat servings of each dish and smile even if it tasted really bad. It was weird that Art's other cousin, George, stood up with his wife and proudly announced they were trying for a baby. For all the Zweig's knew, babies arrived in cashmere swaddles carried by some endangered species of bird.
"I have to pee, dude, just hold him for a sec—" Art says suddenly, and before Patrick can do anything, the baby is shoved into his arms. It— he— is heavier than Patrick expects, so dense for something so small.
"Art—" He whisper-yells, but Art's already darting away, leaving Patrick to awkwardly cradle the baby to his chest.
Noah babbles as Patrick swears under his breath. No one seems to look his way— it's too loud for anyone to really care. Beth at least glances over to check on her kid, sees a yawning Noah being bounced in Patrick's arms. He thinks he gives a help me expression, but it's ignored.
Noah likes him. He rests his chubby little face on Patrick's Hollister polo and babbles contentedly once Patrick manages to nervously walk across the room and settle on an old, sunken in leather couch.
Tentatively, Patrick reaches out, lets the baby wrap his hand around his index finger. Noah yawns, his little face wrinkling and scrunching as he gets comfortable. The baby is asleep on Patrick's chest by the time Art returns.
The blond grins as he sinks onto the couch beside him, holding out a plate of baked goods. "Hungry?"
"I can't move," Patrick whispers. "He's knocked out, dude."
Art lifts a marshmallow lucky charms bar to Patrick's mouth and lets the other boy take a bite. "You're good with kids. Girls think that's hot."
"Shut the fuck up."

how they act around reader! you know the usual, how horny they get and how the reader is potentially uncomfortable because not even they can handle the harems hormones.
MIDNIGHT DARLING HEAD-CANNONS (Unang Yugto / First Part)
YANDERE COLLEGE BASED OCS x READER
Hoo boy we have a lot of characters to go through and I haven’t even named all of them so *cracks knuckles* Let’s go with my favorite children for now.
warnings: dead dove do not eat territory here. yandere themes (lotsa violence). please don’t read this if you have a wild imagination like me oh god im aboutta faint at darling’s section. cannibalism. knife play. necrophillia. a transphobic society.
[previous ask for more context]
[next part] - yandere! faculty
Let’s start with our boy Justin Del Rosario [Yan Jock]
He’s incredibly sweet and caring. At least when you two were dating. The type to always check in on you. Always makes sure you’re hydrated and keeping up with your self-care routines.
As if popular! reader isn’t completely meticulous when it comes to their image.
Looks like a bad boy but is an actual sweetheart. Your relationship started off as a transaction of sorts. Being the softie he is though he developed feelings. Quick. The masochist.
Is a whole ass push-over when it comes to you.
Now post break-up Justin is a bit of a freak.
Like I said in my previous post of his experience as your boyfriend, he has gone through shit.
Suddenly his grades are perfect. People are actually tolerating if not appreciating his presence.
He’s becoming a threat to your place as the ruler of the campus.
But unlike you his fans aren’t declined atrocious yet.
How does Popular! Reader feel about him? Not much really. Their whole relationship was a transaction to them. I can’t emphasize how much of an apathetic bitch I wrote reader to be ya’ll I’m sorry. But in order for their harem to thrive they gotta turn a blind eye.
In terms of Horni Levels it’s uh - not so bad. Once he lost his virginity to you (yes you took his virginity) he found it to be the best stress relief and got addicted. But he’s also super respectful of your boundaries.
That was when you were originally dating though. He’d probably pound you to oblivion if you ever got back together. Pent up horni does that.
Actually, that event might not even need them getting back together. I won’t be surprised if current Justin just takes you even with his relationship with Darling.
For your favorite, Darling De Leon [yan good girl] . . .
⚠️THIS IS THE PART WHERE IT’S DEFINITELY DEAD DOVE DO NOT EAT.
Hella shy around you. You almost didn’t know she existed if it weren’t for her consistent placement as second. At least before Isabel came and Justin’s grades shot up.
She has a pretty shit past.
Has always been a little scared of you.
Extremely possessive. She had always been overshadowed by her siblings, and her time abroad without you had really shattered her self confidence. Although she’s deathly afraid her past actions would be revealed, she’s more scared of losing you to someone else.
She thought that by agreeing to date Justin, you’d think of him as disgusting for moving on so fast.
Definitely enjoyed her time on your lap a little too much.
Which brings me to Horni Levels.
If you think Justin is bad. Darling is just the worst out of all the yanderes. She’s the kinkiest one too. She has been saving herself for you, waiting for the time you corrupt her. Hoping that by that time, every obstacle has been removed.
The type to have you fuck her atop the corpses of her rivals kind of kinky. The type to fantasize about you using a knife and inserting in every way possible inside her type of kinky. The type of kinky to fuck your dead body or eat any and every part of you to fully make you two as one.
She’ll own you, dead or alive, one way or another.
How popular! reader feels about her is again, indifference. Maybe a little horni for her soft aesthetic and cute demeanor. Definitely plans to gobble her up once Justin is done playing pretend.
A character that hasn’t been mentioned yet is Isabel Labrador [yan! nerd]
Isabel used to go by the name Isaiah. She used to be pretty alright with being assigned male at birth until popular! reader suddenly announced one day that she’s more horni towards women.
She got disowned for transitioning, and like Darling, disappeared from your life for quite a bit that you forgot about her.
Similar to many of the harem members, she’s very pliant to your whims. She does many of the assignments and projects that aren’t worth your time or would lead to you lacking sleep.
Not like the professors assign you much.
A bit of a whiny brat. Used to be hella spoiled when she was younger so she’s a lot more outspoken when it comes to your sexual escapades. This leads to you beating her up the most out of everyone in the harem.
Popular! Reader is the only one who knows she’s a trans and is surprisingly very respectful about that part about her.
The two of you are mostly amicable.
Horni Levels: Pretty normal for a young adult. Loves to tease you by showing more skin sometimes. Though she always covers up when anyone else is in the picture.
Her hella religious upbringing made her pretty conservative about sex and all that but it’s often balls to the wall when they see you. Literally. Never knew she was into pegging til you took her one day.
How popular! reader feels about her? Mostly a means to an end. She’s the least careful when it comes to her simpery. It gets tiring having to discipline her every time but the angry sex makes up for it.
This one will be short since I plan on him and the rest to be minor characters. Nobody knows how Ricardo Peralta [yan! president] became the President with how much he hates your ass.
People who voted for him were probably like. ‘If a person who doesn’t even want [Y/N] became president. We won’t have a threat.’
Jokes on them he has more notes on you than the entire student body combined.
Boy is the Candace to your Phineas/Ferb. His entire mission is to bust your ass. (and for you to bust a nut in his-)
…
You don’t even know he exists.
LAST BUT NOT LEAST LET’S TALK ABOUT YOU.
It was almost as if you were made to be the apple of everyone’s eye. Not one person in campus could remember a time where they didn’t know you.
No, it was more like they didn’t want to. Why imagine a terrible era such as that?
A lot of the students from the college are spoiled brats that absolutely adored how cut throat you were. How you weren’t afraid to put them in their place unlike those push-overs they usually meet. Some were just drawn to your charisma and confidence.
Or well, just general fuckability.
People think you’re also rich but you just get a lot of stuff from the students with money.
Your birthday is a bloodbath and a half. You started celebrating it alone so that people wouldn’t see your reactions to the gifts. Both because you wanted to keep them guessing and ‘cause the person whose gift is liked will probably get murdered.
You have to routinely check for cameras or tracking devices.
It takes you every bit of your self control not to just twerk in front of the camera if not give it the finger by fucking someone who you know is innocent right in front of it. They don’t even get to see you properly in the angle.
You strategically use pussy as both a punishment and incentive.
It’s super effective!
It’s super effective.
You often use pussy to discipline or incentivize your harem. It’s super effective. At least, considering you haven’t been kidnapped and/or killed yet.
You’re a bit of a sadist.
Yeah you’re a bit of a sadist.
Popular! Reader uses pussy a lot to keep everyone in check. You’re used to giving your body away to get what you want that you’ve become numb to it.
No one is normal in this College. Not even you.
You don’t even know he exists.

He’s Turned Into a Kid Part 2
Masterlist
Part 1
Part two will include Four, Wind and Time
Content under the cut!
Four
“Woah!! Look at that!” The child cried from on top of Twilight’s shoulders. He jumps, pointing to something in the distance, nearly flinging himself off of Twilight in the process.
“Careful!” Twilight grabs onto his legs, struggling to keep the two of them balanced. “Don’t fall.”
You looks forward to where he pointed, but you don’t see anything. “What is it Link?”
He jumps, much to Twilight’s chagrin. “I think I see the castle! Papa is in Castle Town! I’m almost home!”
You wince, along with the few other members of the group. You don’t have the heart to tell him that this isn’t his world.
When he was hit by the magic, he was transformed into a child no older than six years old. Luckily, he was still able to wear his clothes, even if they were a bit too big for him. But he was certain that he was lost and knew the way back home. So the group figured that if anyone could help him, it was Zelda. Thus, you all stated traveling to the castle.
You didn’t expect him to be so excited for someone who wasn’t there.
“I hope Zelda wasn’t too worried.” He says when no one else comments on his words. “I was supposed to head to the castle to check on her bunnies. I don’t know how I got so far away though.”
“Do you want to see the bunnies first?” You try to steer away from Castle Town. “We have to go to the castle anyway. Then we can find your dad.”
You can see the idea spin in his head. He’s thinking about it. “Hmmm... But Papa would be worried about me too. He doesn’t like me going too far away where he can’t see me... Not that I haven’t done that before.”
You snort. Of course. He’s still Link.
“What do you think?” Four turns his head to look at you. “Am I going to get in trouble?”
“Hmmm...” You pretend to think about it too. “I don’t think so. We can stop b the castle first since what we have to do is really important. Then we can find your dad and I’ll tell him it was our fault, yeah? That way you don’t get in trouble.”
He grins. “Thank you! You’ll the bunnies. They’re very tiny and soft. And not everyone can find a bunny to keep, but Zelda has three.”
“Three?” You grin back. “That must be really special then. She must take really good care of them.”
Four nods back. “Do you have bunnies?”
“No.” You shrug. “I have cuccos.”
Four makes a face. It appears that he’s already learned the hard lessons of cuccos. “...I don’t like cuccos. But I’ll find you a bunny, ok? They’re much better.”
You snort. “I believe it.”
Four points a fingers up, a sign of confidence. “I’m really good at finding things. I find all sorts of things in my house that papa says weren’t there before. We have little mice friends and they can help me find you a bunny.”
“I don’t need a bunny though.” You shake your head, keeping your smile on your face. “But thank you. That’s very sweet of you.”
He nods, suddenly very determined. “It won’t be easy. Maybe I can ask grandpa to help make a little trap. He works a lot with metals. He’s a blacksmith. I’m going to be just like him when I grow up.”
You nod, keeping some little comments to yourself. It wouldn’t do anyone any good if you started talking about him like you already knew him. For all the boy knew, he was just somewhere else, surrounded by strangers. It doesn’t seem like he knows anything of the hero he would grow up to be.
You hope that Zelda would actually be able to do something about this and fix him. But even if there’s no immediate solution, you can’t say that you’d mind having him around.
“I bet you’re going to be just as good as him, maybe even better.”
He laughs. “No one is better than my grandpa. But if I get close to it, I’d be really happy.”
Wind
“What do we do?”
“Oh my god, this is horrible.”
“Time, you grew up with children right?”
“Don’t look at me. I have no experience with babies.”
“Wild, get a fire going, heat up from milk.” You command, trying to hold the group together. “We need to cook a few light grains to keep him full since I think he’s past that age. We need rags, blankets and something to cut them with. He’s going to get cold.”
The boys start scrambling at your orders. Wind looks up at you, easily no older than a year old. He smiles and you can see little baby teeth peaking out from his gums.
“Oh your teeth.” You stare in wonder. You’ve have some experience with small children. Between your little bother and Zelda, you know some basics, but in reality you’ve never felt less prepared for anything. But at least he might be able to eat more solid food. So that’s a relief.
Wind starts laughing, a light and bubbly sound. You can’t help but laugh back. “What, buddy? What’s so funny?”
“Man, he was a cute kid.” Warrior looks over your shoulder. You shift the child so that he’s balancing on your hip instead on purely being held up in your arms.
“Agreed.” You poke his nose and he laughs more. “He looks like Link when he was this age.”
Warrior makes a face but Wind starts to babble. “Bababababababa...”
“What is it, buddy?” You give your attention back to him. He reaches up but aims for Warrior. You grin. “Oh you want the Captain, little man?”
You happily give the babbling baby to the suddenly panicked hero. Warrior takes him since you leave him with little other choice but he’s holding Wind awkwardly and his fear is tangible. “.....Help.”
You laugh. “Don’t be so stiff. He’s just a baby. He’ll be back to normal soon enough.”
“The problem is just that. He’s a baby.” Warrior lifts the child higher. “What if I drop him?”
“Don’t.” You shrugs “It’s not that hard.”
“You seem to know what you’re doing.” Wild points his wooden spoon in your direction.
You shake your head, putting your hands up in defense. “I just remember my little brother. I’m a lot older than him so I had to help from time to time. Wind also has some baby teeth, so he can eat more solid food by the way. We just have to grind it up first before we give him anything just in case.”
Wind keeps talking, trying to tell the older hero something but Warrior has no idea what to do. The sight makes you laugh. “Captain, you’re hopeless.”
He looks back at you and back to the kid. Wind blows a raspberry before collapsing into giggles again. You shake your head and finally take his arms, positioning Wind against him so that it’s better from both parties. “Absolutely hopeless.”
“Dadadada! Babrrrrrrr.”
You nod, putting your hands on your hips. “Agreed. Well said.”
Warrior whines. “Don’t leave me alone with him, please.”
You raises an eyebrow. “What about-”
Wind starts crying, suddenly reaching for you. “Momaaa!!!”
You flush and take him back without hesitation. “Me? Did you want me, buddy? I got you. You’re ok. Don’t cry.”
Warrior sighs and ruffles his hair. “We have our work cut out for us.”
“We got as many loose rags as we could.” Hyrule holds a few of them up. “What do be need them for?”
You flinch. “Diapers.”
They pale.
Multiple hands shoot up. “Not it!”
“Cowards.”
Time
You were going to cry.
The small boy in front of you was too precious, too young and too sweet to be Time. He kept looking around the forest around you as if he had never been here before. And maybe he hasn’t, but that doesn’t stop the way he seems to be looking for something.
“Are you ok?” You ask him, poking his shoulder. You say it gently and yet it seems to take him by surprise.
“Um...” He seems nervous. “I’m looking for Navi.”
You tilt your head. That’s new name. You’ve never heard it before. Warrior goes completely still, not so subtly paying attention to your not so secret conversation. So he recognizes the name. Interesting. “Who’s that?”
“My fairy.” He whispers. “She left after we defeated Ganon...and I don’t know where she is.”
The whole group comes to a complete stand still.
“Oh my god...” Sky suddenly looks ill.
The young boy doesn’t seem to know why it bothers them. He misinterprets their silence. “I know! After everything we’ve been through, she just left. She didn’t even say goodbye. I’ve been looking all over for her! I need to stop by Lon Lon Ranch to get Epona. She’s a tiny horse but big enough for me to ride.”
He’s already saved the world, a little voice tells you. He’s so little but he already did it. You cough, unsure what to do with this information. “A tiny horse? Is she cute?”
He smiles, nodding at you. “She’s a brave girl. I love her.” He doesn’t elaborate any more on the topic because he seems to be lost in thought again. “I know you said you’d help me get home, but I also need to talk to the princess. She had dreams about Ganondorf so she believed me when I said that he was truly as evil as she believed- but she also has the Ocarina of Time. If she can trust me with it, maybe I’ll be able to use it to find Navi.”
You bite your lip and try to control your breathing. Legend is actually crying in the background. You catch him but you’re at liberty to corner him and ask him what the deal is.
Warrior looks simply heartbroken. He’s got his own issues here but your attention is on the young boy.
“So are any of theses guys your boyfriend?” He pokes your stomach. You jump and snap your arm to protect the spot, taken aback by the emotional whiplash.
“No.” You have to keep yourself from adding onto that answer.
“Oh...Is your partner not here?”
“I don’t have a partner. Why do you say that?”
“You’re just pretty.” He says it so casually. You’re almost jealous. “I thought that you would have had a partner. But if you’re here then they’d be worried about you. So I was curious.”
“...Right...” You force a smile onto your face.
Tiny Time turns to you and actually smiles. “I bet you’d look great with flowers. That’s what we used to do in Kokiri Village and everyone would get to look nice and pretty.”
“Sounds like fun.” You’re not reeling. It’s fine. You can survive this.
“I can teach you.” He takes your hand and starts to swing it.
Ok, you give up. You’d do anything for this kid. “I’d like that.”
But how are you going to get him back to the way he was?

TMNTStoryComp, Round One: To the Library!
(For @tmntstorycomp Round One Part 2 polls. Vote for Sanctuary here!)
_____________________________________
After receiving invitations, flowers, food, a card to a therapist—which Don saw Raph eyeing thoughtfully, before eyeing him, when he thought Don wasn’t looking—amongst other things, as well as bits and pieces of information, Raphael, Donatello, and Ms. Morrison had finally found a corner that felt relatively safe where they could sit down and compile what they knew.
“Alright,” Don said, pulling a notebook out of his duffle bag. “Let’s list what we’ve learned.”
Raph nodded, making sure that Ms. Morrison was comfortable and that Lucy was settled on her lap, before he let go of her and crossed his arms. “Well, for starters, we know that none of us are from here,” Raph said.
Don nodded. “Like a multiverse situation.”
“Multiverse?” Ms. Morrison asked, tilting her head.
“Yes, ma’am,” Don said. “In a nutshell, the multiverse is similar but not exact realities that exist at the same time. Think of it like when a group of people is asked to paint a bowl of fruit. Everyone will paint a bowl of fruit. But how each painting looks and what variations they paint of the fruits and the bowl will vary. They all still painted bowls of fruit. But each one is still different.”
“So, the people here, then, are different versions of people from our painting,” Ms. Morrison said.
“Exactly,” Don said, smiling.
Ms. Morrison hummed thoughtfully, clearing turning things over in her mind. “Thank you for explaining, Donatello,” she said.
“Not a problem,” Don said with a smile.
“Okay, so the multiverse is a given,” Raph said. “But we know that none of us came here willingly,”
Don nodded. “Right. Of the people we’ve talked to, it seems that we were all just here suddenly.”
“Including children, without their guardians,” Ms. Morrison said with a frown. “Although I heard that the nice man who gave you the card, Donatello, was looking after the children. We should check on them.”
“I’ll put a note by that,” Don said. “I’d like to talk to him again anyway. What else do we know?”
Ms. Morrison hummed. “Well, the young man who spoke to everyone earlier said this was some sort of competition.”
“Right.” Raph said. “But we don’t know what kind. Are we talking a fight? An exhibition? Parcheesi?”
“No one seemed to automatically assume that it would be violent,” Don said. “Although there are clearly some here that want it to be.”
“Yeah. As much as I like a good fight, I don’t like the fact that it would mean kids would be fighting,” Raph said.
“I don’t like the idea of you two fighting,” Ms. Morrison said. “You two are good boys. I don’t want you caught up in anything violent.”
Raph and Don exchanged a look.
“We appreciate that, Ms. Morrison,” Don said after a moment.
“Yeah, but if it comes down to it, don’t you worry,” Raph said. “We can take care of things.”
Don frowned. “Truthfully, I’d rather it didn’t come down to it either. Especially since it seems that some people here already have experience with other similar situations.”
“Yeah, I hear ya,” Raph said with a frown “We do got one other big piece of the puzzle.” He hooked a thumb over his shoulder. “That guy is responsible for all of this.”
“That guy, who is just as much a puzzle as this place. We don’t even know his name yet,” Don said, his frown matching Raph’s as he glanced in the direction of the magical turtle. “And who apparently has some sort of magical ability.”
“Magic.” Ms. Morrison said. “I wouldn’t have believed such a thing before now. But I supposed if aliens exist, well, why not magic?” She tilted her head. “What does he look like?” she asked. “This young man?”
Raph and Don exchanged looks.
“Uh… well, kinda like a big turtle. Like a person-turtle,” Raph said. “His skin’s kinda an emerald green color, looks like his eyes are… orange? Or maybe a shade of yellow. He’s got some yellow stripes that seem to start on his head and go down his arms and legs. He’s got black… I guess you could call them skin-tight leg and arm warmers on, go up to his thighs and upper arms. He’s got poofy arm and leg warmers over that, yellow and orange, on opposite sides. He’s got a black mask with short mask tails over his eyes, and a necklace of some sort on. And…” Raph squinted. “Don, are his nails painted?”
Don blinked for a moment, pulled a set of binoculars out, looked and then nodded. “Yep. Alternating black and white.”
“Yeah,” Raph said. “He looks like a troublemaker.”
“He sounds like a child,” Ms. Morrison said.
“His necklace is a skull,” Don said, still looking through his binoculars. “And I don’t know if you noticed, Raph, but when he did his magic or whatever that was, his stripes turned black, with a yellow outlines to them. And they almost looked like they were giving off… circles? Blobs?... that float away.” He frowned. “I wonder if that speaks to the way his magic works, as if maybe he has to give part of himself away when does—uh oh.”
Raph and Ms. Morrison tensed.
“Uh-oh?” Raph said.
“Yeah, his stripes are starting to turn black again and—” Don put down the binoculars, stuffed everything in his bag, and reached out to hold onto Raph and Ms. Morrison while she held onto Lucy. “Hang on, he’s doing something!”
The world moved and swirled around them, and Raph and Don both tightened their grip on Ms. Morrison, just in case the chair she was sitting on suddenly disappeared. Fortunately, it didn’t seem to, but when the world resolved itself, they were standing in—
“A library?” Raph said, looking around, astonished.
“A library!” Don proclaimed eagerly.
“A library,” Ms. Morrison hummed, holding onto her cat. “Well, once again I’m afraid that I won’t be much help to you boys here.”
“Not necessarily,” Don said. “There’s more than one way to gather information, or to compile and understand it. Something tells me that you can be a help to us that way.”
“And something tells me that you’re about to go crazy in here, Brainiac,” Raph said, reaching down to help Ms. Morrison up from her chair.
Don grinned at his brother. “You know me so well.” He reached over to pull a book from a shelf, and looked at it, surprise blooming on his face.
“What is it?” Raph asked.
“There’s no title or anything on the cover,” Don said. He opened it. “And it seems to be blank.” He reached for another one. “This one has a partial title on it, but the inside is incomplete.”
Raph looked around, putting Ms. Morrison’s hand on Don’s arm while he moved to a nearby railing. He could look down over the library that way, and he surveyed it, quickly.
“Well, obviously all of them aren’t that way,” he called back to his brother and the elderly woman. “I see people reading.”
Don and Ms. Morrison walked up to him, Don frowning. “So, some books are blank, some are partial, and some are complete.”
“But why?” Ms. Morrison asked.
Don hummed. “I have a theory, but no proof.” He looked at Raph. “We need to split up. Here.” He reached into his duffle and pulled out the pad and pencil from earlier. “Go look. See what books are complete and which ones aren’t. See what people are reading. Write it down. I’m going to do the same, and we can compare. We can meet up in the kid’s section in an hour. It seems to be fairly central.”
“Raphael,” Ms. Morrison said, tapping on his arm. “Why don’t you take me there first? Donatello can go ahead and get started, and I can stay there.”
“I ain’t leaving you alone,” Raph said. “You can’t read, but you can still help.”
“I will be helping,” she said. “If it’s central, then people will be passing through there. I can listen for information.” She gave them an amused smile. “My sense of hearing is pretty sharp for an old woman. Besides,” she said, petting Lucy, “A cat is bound to get people to stop.”
“It’s not a bad idea,” Don said.
Raph frowned, clearly not entirely happy with the idea. “Donnie. Ya got an extra shell cell on you?”
Don nodded, already digging through his bag. “Excellent idea, Raph.”
Raph took it as soon as Don handed it to him, and he placed it in Ms. Morrison’s hands. “This is another one of our phones. Don builds ‘em for the fun of it.” He guided her hands over it. “If you need us, press this button right here, and we’ll come back as quick as we can, alright?”
“Alright,” Ms. Morrison said. “But I’m sure I’ll be fine.”
“Just humor me, okay, Ms. M?” Raph said.
She smiled indulgently at him. “Of course, dear.”
Don nodded. “Okay, so then we’re splitting up?”
Raph nodded. “I’ll get Ms. M down to the kid’s section and settled. But Don—be careful.”
“You three, as well,” Don said. “I’ll meet you there in an hour.”
“Don’t lose track of time,” Raph warned.
The group split up then, Don quickly heading to start working on his theory, Raph escorting Ms. Morrison to the children’s section and making sure that she and Lucy were settled before he started his own exploration.
Hopefully, the group would find some useful information here. After all, there were still lots of competitors to talk to.

Rewriting The Power of the Doctor as a finale to the 13th Doctor’s Era instead of an Anniversary Special
PotD's best parts were all 80s fanservice. It resolved none of Chibnall's plot threads, nor did it celebrate 13’s era overall. I’m not fully resolving the Timeless Child as that would need a different plot. But by adding more callbacks and payoffs I hope to strengthen this era overall as a worthwhile investment
International broadcasters split PotD into 2 episodes, and its first edit was 2 hours long. I’m thus splitting it from 1 85-min special to 2 60-min specials
Forgive my cringe attempts at dialogue.
What changes would you make to the story?
PART 1
The Thijarian Assassins from 11x6 Demons of the Punjab appear in the background throughout the episode, like the Ood in the buildup to The End of Time,
Karvanista & Tie-ins to The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos
Swap the space train in the opening for Karvanista, Bel & Vinder from Flux, transporting cargo for the Coalition of Galaxies from 11x10 The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos
Bel: Being boarded by Cybermen once was more than enough for me, thank you very much.
Karvanista recognises the Cybermasters’ regeneration.
When 13 sends Dan to stop the ship crashing he spars with Karvanista again:
Dan: Hello Muttley my son, it's been a while
Karvanista: Just what I need. Leave, you'll only make everything worse-
Dan: Rubbish, I just need to wave my space wand and-
[the ship accelerates]
Karvanista: 'Space wand'? Bloody useless! In my day she didn't need that rubbish.
Dan: Eh?
He is still bitter- he doesn't want to be saved by 13 and when she fails to stop the Cybermasters he rips into her.
13: You lot are working for the Coalition of Galaxies now? Why?
Karvanista: Because two-thirds of the universe got destroyed and then suddenly reappeared after weeks of chaos. They need all the help they can get, and you certainly weren't offering, were you?
The cargo they carried isn’t the alien made of pure energy. Instead it’s the young Ux from 11x10 The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos, an omnipotent species who followed 13's advice to ‘travel hopefully’ and was using its abilities to help rebuild the universe
Karvanista has a heart-to-heart with Dan after his near-death experience, encouraging him to leave 13 before she leaves him. Closure for their relationship.
Afterwards, Yaz asks why Karvanista was so angry. 13 finally opens up to her, last-minute character growth to make her regen more tragic:
13: We used to travel together. When I was Ruth. Remember her?
Yaz: Of course.
13: We were... sort of time spies together. For Division.
Yaz: The people who sent the Weeping Angels after you?
13: And the Judoon after Ruth. But my memory of that time was taken and I don't want it back. I want to focus on now. On our moment. On you. And Dan-
Dan, from the doors: You don't have to come back for me.
13, closing her eyes. Taking a steadying breath: Oh. Right then. OK.
13 REPLACES DAN'S HOUSE because leaving him homeless is careless and callous.
13: I get it. Life's important. Home's important. Speaking of…
[She produces Dan's miniaturized house on a little metal disc]
13: Just press the button and this should take care of itself. That, or you'll be transported to the moon. Worth a shot though, eh?
Dan: You just had that in your pocket ready to go?
13: I knew you'd ask to go back eventually, Dan. When you did... I didn't want to be holding you hostage.
After Dan leaves, instead of an out-of-nowhere rogue Dalek, 13 is contacted by the Order of the Custodians, the group from 11x11 Resolution, who guarded the divided pieces of a Dalek Scout for centuries. Being dedicated to fighting Daleks, they're investigating an incursion on Earth
The Cyber-planet is a dead, Cyber-converted Gallifrey, after 12x10 The Timeless Children
The Ux is hooked up to the planet in the same lab Tecteun experimented on the Timeless Child in
The Master is using the Ux to maintain his cyber-constructs like Tim Shaw did his fortress. By saving the Ux again 13 comes full circle from her first series.
As a young, omnipotent alien all-but alone in the universe, the Ux is a direct parallel to the Timeless Child. In a way, 13 is saving her younger self
Once they've found the Ux, 13 calls Karvanista & co to retrieve him. Karavanista comes alone (Karvanista > Vinder). After crashing he reports to Mark Addy’s character from 11x10 The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos, via video screen. He promised to keep the Ux safe after that episode
Karvanista recognises the Master’s perverted TARDIS exterior. It brings back bad memories.
The Master & Nikola Tesla
Ra-Ra-Rasputin is great, but I’m swapping the Master taking over the Winter Palace for Wardenclyffe, the power station from 12x4 Nikola Tesla’s Night of Terror
We open on Tesla, years after we met him, stumbling out of the realtor’s into the rain. Wardenclyffe is being foreclosed and he is penniless
Tesla walks down an alley and in a flash of light is transported to the Kassavin’s dimension from 12x1-2 Spyfall.
Tesla: What- where am I? Fascinating. What manner of construction is this? [hears rustling] Who’s there? Did you build this place? Please… you should know this isn’t my first time meeting creatures from beyond. If… If you want my help, my skills… perhaps a deal could be negotiated.
Distorted voice: Want your help? No no, I am going to help you, Nikola Tesla. With my help, your skills will change the universe.
Tesla: This place… did you build it?
Voice: No. But I was once trapped here, for an eternity or two. I picked up a few things.
Tesla: Who are you?
Voice: I am the Doctor.
Tesla: Doctor?! You’ve come back for me- Is being trapped here why you never came back? [the Master appears] ...You are not the Doctor
Master: Not yet. But you’re going to help me with that.
He hypnotizes Tesla into building the cages that will force 13 to regenerate.
13’s favorite historical figure making the thing that kills her is a huge personal blow. The Master rubs in 13’s face that by ‘abandoning’ Tesla & letting history take its course, she let this happen.
Ryan & Graham replace Ace & Tegan
Ace & Tegan were the best parts of PotD imo, but bringing in Classic companions last-minute doesn’t help tie up 13’s era
Because I cut Rasputin, swap the missing paintings for tech-savvy Ryan investigating a sudden acceleration in Earth's technology.
He tours VOR (Daniel Barton’s Google stand-in tech company from 12x1 Spyfall). At the end of that story Barton went on the run, so without him the company should have collapsed. Instead it’s leading a worldwide tech revolution.
It’s not just VOR; history itself is changing. Technological advancement is accelerating decade by decade. The microchip was invented 30 years early etc
After leaving, Ryan hosts a group video-call: Graham is investigating the missing Seismologists with the Three Idiots Roaming from 12x6 Praxeus. At the end of that story they left to travel the world and protect it from environmental disaster, so they fit well for the volcano subplot
Travel-vlogger Gabrielle is with Graham (she and Ryan are dating, building on the suggestion of flirtation in Praxeus, and Graham jokes about it) while couple Jake and Adam are investigating elsewhere.
Reuniting with the Fam & the Daleks’ trap
13 remarks on Earth’s accelerating technology seeing UNIT’s new building. It’s part of a chain of cutting-edge facilities across the globe, designed as refuges for humanity in the event of another disaster like the Flux
13 & Yaz awkwardly reunite with Ryan, who has traced the acceleration of Earth’s technology back to a now super-successful Nikola Tesla in the 1920s. He shows them several newspaper articles, starting with NIKOLA TESLA’S NIGHT OF TERROR!, that show Tesla’s fall into ruin after they left him. A somber moment. But then Tesla re-emerges with a new ‘business partner’; the Master. The final article shows them taking over Thomas Edison’s factory
Graham contacts Ryan; he and Gabrielle have followed their lead on the Seismologists to a university; we watch them enter via Gabrielle’s camera, when they’re captured by the waiting Master
13 books it over there, high-tension, but the Master is just waiting for her to arrive.
UNIT arrives from another of their brand new facilities
Graham goes to UNIT with the Fam and the captured Master, but Gabrielle stays behind to help UNIT with the dead seismologists. She gives Ryan a parting kiss that Yaz makes fun of. He notes how much closer she and 13 are, which shuts her up
At UNIT, the Order of the Custodians call 13: They’ve infiltrated the Dalek base in the Bolivian volcano, unaware the Daleks are using them as bait.
In the Volcano, the Order try to give 13 a Dalek-killing chemical weapon they developed testing tiny samples of the Recon Scout mutant, when the trap is sprung
The Order are killed. Instead of trapping 13 in a Dalek casing a mutant puppeteers her, one of Chibnall’s best gimmicks
13 gets the Order’s Dalek-killing weapon to Yaz as she’s captured, and Yaz flees to the TARDIS as the Daleks open fire. The Order’s weapon will replace Ace’s Nitro-999 later
Cyber-Attack & the Master in Wardenclyffe
No miniature Ashad: Instead the Cybermen appear like the Kassavin did in 12x1 Spyfall, in a blaze of white light, and invade from that pocket-dimension
This is how they appear on every floor at once: Army of Ghosts callback!
The Master escapes and travels to 1920s Wardenclyffe, where 13 is held captive
On using Tesla:
13: You’re telling me our Great and Powerful Master needs a lowly human inventor to work on his machines?
Master: Of course not.
13: Then why go to all the trouble of enslaving Tesla?
Master: Why? Why use one of your favorite scientists? The inventor after your own hearts, who you fought side-by-side with before abandoning him to the cruel fate history dictated? I found him penniless and alone! Your fault. You had the power to step in, the power to save anyone. Everyone! But you never had the vision to.
Like international broadcasts, the forced regeneration is the cliffhanger for Part 1
PART 2
The Master-Doctor
The Master possesses 13’s body, calling back to the TV Movie. This is so Jodie can play the evil Master-Doctor, showing off her range and giving her more screentime in her final story (plus Sexual Tension with Yaz)
Expand the Master-Doctor’s rampage. The Master brings the hypnotized Tesla along to restrain Yaz.
She leads a jailbreak, blowing a hole in the Judoon prison from 12x11 Revolution of the Daleks. Angela the Angel abducts a Judoon through the flickering lights; the P'Ting eats one of the guard's guns.
Master: This is payback for locking me up! [to the escaping prisoners] when you're out there spreading chaos through the universe, tell them the Doctor sent you!
Then, the twin planets he visits are the ones from 12x7 Can You Hear Me?
Yaz watches helplessly as the Master introduces the planet’s peoples to the two evil gods- the enemies who affected Yaz most- and promises they will be just and noble rulers. She then encourages the gods to 'play' with her gift.
The TARDIS jumps forward in time to show the planets a war.
Yaz overpowers Tesla to lock the Master out
Fugitive Doctor: Guardian of the Edge
The Classic Doctor cameos were great but I’m cutting them for the same reason as Tegan & Ace.
13’s personality has been buried deep in the Doctor’s subconscious, where she meets the Fugitive Doctor, also repressed long ago. The Fugitive is our Guardian of the Edge, trying to save 13 from the same fate that befell her
The Fugitive shows 13 a flashback of the ‘reality’ behind the last part of the Brendan visions in 12x9 Ascension of the Cybermen- namely his memory being wiped, which wasn’t covered in 12x10 The Timeless Children
The Fugitive has her regenerations reset by Tecteun, in the same lab she experimented on her in as a child, the same one the Ux is being held in on cyber-Gallifrey
Tying up more of the loose ends from the Timeless Child arc leaves a blank slate for the next era. I don’t like the arc but the least Chibs could do is clean up his own mess before leaving.
Fugitive: And now the Master has stolen Mother’s favorite punishment-
13: Don’t call her that.
Fugitive: She might be dead and she might’ve been a monster, but Tecteun is all we had. Now he’s out there making a monster out of us too, just like she always wanted-
13: Tecteun was not my family. We make our own family, you and me. Everywhere we go. Speaking of which…
Cybermen and Daleks
Keep the hologram implants, letting 13 have final moments with Ryan & Graham
Graham gets Tegan’s job helping Kate fight the Cybermen at UNIT.
It'd be cool if Ashad confronted Graham about his cancer
Ashad: You think you are rid of it but the traces linger. The ultimate betrayal of the flesh. Does the thought of it returning keep you up at night? We can free you from that fear!
Graham: Fear of death is what makes us human. It's what makes us value our time. Sure I suffered. But I found meaning in it too. I fell in love. You'll never know what that's like. And I feel sorry for you.
I was always bothered by the contradiction of the Daleks trying to destroy Earth when the Cybermen want to convert it. So, my adjusted Cyber-plan is to take over the new UNIT strongholds across the globe. When the Daleks blow the volcanoes, people will evacuate to the UNIT strongholds where the Cybermen will be waiting to convert them
(I basically stole Harmony Shoal’s plan from The Return of Doctor Mysterio but shhhh)
Meanwhile, the Three Idiots Roaming feel the volcanoes start to activate, and lead the evacuation of people living nearby to the UNIT strongholds, but the Cybermen are waiting and trap them
Ryan gets Ace’s role, parachuting off the roof (a big moment highlighting his dyspraxia).
Yaz collects him and they save the Three Idiots from the UNIT stronghold, letting the evacuees flee.
Yaz drops Ryan and the Idiots under the volcanoes, using the Order of the Custodians’ anti-Dalek weapon to fight them as Ace did
Meanwhile, once Graham saves Kate from conversion she self-destructs all the UNIT strongholds around the globe, stopping the Cybermen
Saving the Doctor
Karvanista gets Vinder’s role shooting the Master. He also comes face-to-face with the hologram of the Fugitive, his Doctor.
THASMIN KISS immediately after Yaz saves 13, when her guard is down in her post-regeneration haze, overcome with joy at being alive again. This makes their parting more tragic, but 13 doesn't look cruel like she would for initiating that intimacy when she knows she's dying, opening a door she knows she can't go through
After 13 has been saved, the Fugitive-hologram and Karvanista have a heart-to-heart like 5 & 7 do with Ace & Tegan in the original, giving him closure & resolving his bitterness.
Once freed from the Master's hypnotism, Tesla goes in the TARDIS and helps fix Karvanista's ship while 13 deals with the Master's TARDIS.
Once free, the Ux destroys the Cyber-constructs grafted onto Gallifrey’s architecture
Instead of the ‘what a universe. I’ll never understand it’ line, 13 looks back: We get brief flashes of Tecteun's experimentation on the Child and the Fugitive's forced regen, which both took place here. 13 finally makes peace with that loss and leaves it behind
The lasting effects of the forced regeneration are what kill 13. Like slow radiation poisoning.
Thasmin & Demons of the Punjab Callbacks
THASMIN HUG. 13 removes the hologram implant from Yaz, but then gifts it back to her as she leaves- the same projector she had in 13x5 Survivors of the Flux.
She says "This is us. Our moment in time.", calling back to the watch from 11x6 Demons of the Punjab
It'd also be nice to call back to 13’s speech on her family from 11x1 The Woman Who Fell to Earth:
Yaz: I'm not sure I can do this without you. You helped me.. helped me learn who I am-
13: And now you know. You don't need me, Yaz. I needed you in the end. Look at everything you did today, on your own. You saved me. You led everyone. Just- carry me with you, if you can. Just do that. What I would've thought and said and done. Make that a part of you. So I might be going from the universe, but I'll never be gone from you, eh?
Yaz, huffing through tears: What would the Doctor do?
13: What would you do?
As I’ve cut the Classic Companions, I’m replacing the Companion support Group with Yaz’s anniversary dinner with her sister Sonya from 12x7 Can You Hear Me, commemorating when she ran away as a teen.
In contrast to the lonely, somber affair of that episode, this time Yaz has invited Ryan, Graham, Dan and Diane round, as well as her parents and grandmother
Ryan's dad Aaron could also show up since he never appeared again after Resolution
13’s ‘Fam’ has become Yaz’s extended family and support network, highlighting how much she’s grown
We leave the companions with a similar sentiment to Graham’s idea of telling stories from the original. Yaz is ready to open up to her family and tell them about her time with the Doctor.
Intercut 13 leaving the TARDIS with Yaz calling back to Ryan’s opening line from 11x1 The Woman Who Fell To Earth:
Yaz: So tonight, we want to tell you about the greatest woman we ever met. Smart. Funny. Caring… Special. Proper special.
The Thijarians are there to witness 13’s regeneration. They exchange a look of understanding with her before she goes
The story now ties in plot-threads from Series 11 (Demons of the Punjab, The Battle of Ranskoor Av Kolos & Resolution), Series 12 (Nikola Tesla's Night of Terror, Praxeus, Can You Hear Me? & Revolution of the Daleks, as well as The Timeless Children) and Flux (Karvanista). Paying these plot threads off retroactively gives the era thematic unity, validating viewers’ investment.
As it was, PotD’s refusal to resolve anything made the whole thing weaker and less worth investing in overall.

EDIT: I have now written a fic exploring some of these ideas, linking the Chibnall era together and giving the characters more closure. Check it out if you'd like!

Cliffhanger - Jacqueline Wilson (6/95)
I can’t find my library card for where my parents live and my borough doesn’t have Libby so I’m currently reading these books using my Dad’s card. They have Cliffhanger and Buried Alive as ‘Biscuit Barrel’, so that’s where I’m heading for the next JW books I read as a kid. I was maybe nine when I read this, maybe eight.
I started with the Girls books because those were the ones I identified with. I generally didn’t identify with her characters as a child. But if there was ever a kid I didn’t identify with, it was Tim. I was eight when I went on my first adventure holiday without my parents. I would have begged my parents to go on this holiday - and also, if I hadn’t wanted to go, they certainly wouldn’t have made me. I didn’t like watching telly much, unless it was sport, because it was a whole lot too much sitting still - and when it came to cricket, even the fact that it was sport wasn’t enough to justify the sitting down time. I did have kiddy things, such as cuddlies, beyond the cool age (older than nine - nine shouldn’t be beyond the cool age for a teddy and isn’t in the book) and I was teased a bit for that on school trips, but not over the line. And I certainly loved reading.
The point is, I read a book with a boy who is rarely a protagonist in children’s books - even more rarely then - and understood that the children who discarded and mocked him were making unkind choices and that was not the person I wanted to be. Incidentally, I also understood that the fat-shaming was a thoughtless choice made by a boy I did not want to be like, while cool Jake always shut them right up.
I did also understand that the girl who was A Bit Much and very keen and excited and a bit annoying was basically not doing anything to hurt anyone. In the era of no girls being diagnosed with ADHD ever, this was nice.
I need to remember that Tim is nine, not thirteen as in the books I’ve read so far.
Tim is described as a ‘mummy’s boy’ and I hate that phrase to the ground, with or without the homophobic implications. It’s sexist and values all the wrong things. His Dad’s a bit of a bully and his mum is pretty stalwart in his defence, and this is his Dad’s way of undermining that. My brother is a pretty sensitive soul and super close to my mum but I can’t even begin to imagine my dad ever saying that, even as a joke now he’s in his thirties.
HOWEVER we torture kids through all the academic subjects at school. My personal experience is that with great care and time (and not torture), all children can become successful at them. Exercise, sport, PE, games, are not less important and children should be made to persevere with them - with great care and time (not torture) to support them to achieve.
Incidentally, I remember the first time I got The Fear was on an adventure holiday when I was thirteen and we were climbing. As I was going up the wall, I suddenly got a bit freaked that it was a bit high and I had to really force my legs to move. When I got down, K (who is there in all my memories forever) gave me a hug and said they could all see my legs shaking. The Fear has inconsistently turned up here and there since but I reckon if it had turned up four years earlier, I would have been more sympathetic towards Tim.
Buried Alive - Jacqueline Wilson (7/95)
Only kids, or kids with much older siblings, make fabulous mates because their parents will fork out to take a friend on holiday with them for the peace and quiet. My parents were saved this by having two close together who liked the same sort of thing, and managed to get rid of both of us at least a week each a year. Once or twice, they based our family holiday around wherever one of us was and picked us up from there to spend a week or two together. This is how Tim’s family end up taking Biscuits.
I love Biscuits. I don’t remember, but I reckon if my mum ever read this to me as a bedtime story, she loved Biscuits too.
More context to Tim’s family is added here. His mum and dad get on better than it seems in the first book. Tim’s dad is also affectionate and parents the best way he knows how but Tim is his mum’s little mate and she finds it difficult that he’s growing up and wants to have other mates that aren’t her. He’s also growing into having his own opinions and choosing his own friends which is satisfying to read from an adult point of view.

182 Days of TPN - Day 161
Chapter 161: "Never Be Alone"
For a top secret base, it has some pretty lousy security since the enemy were able to walk right on in so easily. The paradise kids need to learn a thing or two from the escapees. At least they were better prepared for an ambush while living at the B06-32 shelter. Yeah they had a decent surveillance system to help them out but apparently the hideout had people on lookout too. I dunno what they could've done to stop the several hundred demons but I can't believe this giant city-sized hideout doesn't have hidden rooms or escape routes like the shelter did.
Help. Vincent looks so darn annoyed right here.
Everyone keeps saying 2,000 soldiers but did y'all actually count each one or are we just guessing? It could be true since Legravalima mentioned lending Peter the same amount last chapter but I just find it funny that whether or not they're really sitting around counting every demon that everyone in the story all agrees on the same number. If it was Gilda, I would believe it since she has a habit of counting all the kids to make sure everyone is safe.
Definitely not the most cheerful homecoming one could hope for. Emma & Ray look especially frightening and I wanna believe it's partly due to their recent experience at the Seven Walls. They might not be venturing into the house itself this time, but just hearing the name is chilling and strong enough for some unpleasant memories to resurface. The headquarters is equally as dangerous anyways.
I do love Ray's reaction in the anime once they learn that everything is gonna end exactly where their struggles began. I like the whole full circle idea too.
Again, having them sit out during the final battle is such a bummer. Really wanted to see them in action more but they're certainly not in the best shape for that. It's surprising they're still here and awake but perhaps it's all the adrenaline.
Leave it to our reckless leader to not waste any time, irritating Ray a little bit in the process. At least he isn't shutting down her quick thinking right away which I can always appreciate. It's this conversation that reminds me of what Oliver says in ch179 about Emma always acts on what she wants to do, regardless if it's impossible. All that matters is you take that first step and pursue what you're trying to accomplish. The details can be sorted out along the way. Also, love Ayshe getting so confused by Emma's actions. It's quite a remarkable sight the first time.
When ya think about it, they encounter very little resistance during the whole raid. The demons they face are far less scary than Legravalima and the GP poachers the kids already fought while the Ratri clan adults are such pushovers, as they get taken down so easily by children. The only real threat is Peter (& Isabella but they dunno that yet of course) and he tries to run away in the end. Needless to say that I need someone like Emma in my life to send waves of motivation my way when needed.
Her optimism is already working wonders on everyone too. Norman is so relaxed he's laughing without a care, surprising his team who aren't used to seeing him without his cold mask and Ray not thinking several steps ahead like he normally does.
I always wondered if Ray's reaction here was a result of Norman bumping into him suddenly yet being unaware that he did so because he's too excited to figure out a plan to even notice Ray shielding himself.
Favorite panel/moment:
Aaahh this is such an incredible panel with everyone. Absolutely perfect to get you hyped up for the final battle.
End of volume 18.

So I’m giving into my worst instincts once again and writing out what I have for another Mianite AU, namely an Ace Attorney AU I keep thinking about but am struggling to write cases for while not copying the games' storylines (though doing Turnabout Sisters is at least a little tempting). So I thought I’d write out what I currently have for the characters. I haven’t come up with what I want for all the characters (other than, well, gay), so these are just characters I currently have set ideas for.
The basic concept for those unfamiliar with Ace Attorney is that you follow a defence attorney in a world where all criminal trials must take a maximum of three days, 99% of which end in a guilty verdict (going off the win streaks of most prosecutors). Near constantly on the backfoot, you will need to prove not only your client’s innocence, but in most cases find the actual guilty party for any hope of winning your case. But don’t worry, you have legal assistants to help you in court and in investigations with a range of knowledge from just general, to scientific, to literal magic.
Defense Attorneys:
Spark Conway: The current head of Conway & Co. Law Offices, he’s a well respected defence lawyer that’s currently acting as a mentor to both Tom and Capsize. Given his experience and win record, he’s typically the person people are actually looking for when they contact the office for a defence lawyer. He’ll often stay late at the office, even when none of them are actively on a case. Tom and Capsize are both pretty convinced he’s investigating something, even if Spark assures them he’s just working on the behind the scenes sort of things that anyone who runs a business needs to.
Tom Syndicate: The newest addition to Conway & Co., Tom has recently received his attorney’s badge, graduating from legal assistant to fully fledged defence attorney. His family were well acquainted with Spark before Tom started working for him, to the point that when he originally approached him about being taken on as a legal assistant he was assumed to be looking for legal assistance for his dad. Tom’s decision to become a defence attorney actually has little to do with his family’s troubles with the law, and is almost entirely to get back in contact with his childhood friend who happened to become a prosecutor. Meeting him again in court isn’t ideal, but he didn’t exactly have a phone number for the man.
Capsize Dunbar: The other defence attorney at Conway & Co., Capsize got her badge about a year ago and hence has a little more experience than Tom, though she’s very much still considered a rookie. She had been originally training to become a prosecutor, but in the week she was meant to be receiving her badge, she was arrested on suspicion of murder. The following trial is where she met Spark Conway, who acted as her defence attorney and proved her innocence. Having sat in the defendant’s chair, and seen nearly everyone, friend or otherwise, insist on her guilt, she ended her prosecuting career before it began and started training as a defence attorney. This was not well received by certain people in the prosecutor’s office, but they all believed she was guilty so she doesn’t exactly care much about their opinion anymore.
Prosecutors:
Jordan Sparklez: A young prosecutor, currently undefended in court. He is both Tom’s childhood friend, and shared a mentor with Capsize when she was still training as a prosecutor. He is currently in contact with neither, despite previously having close friendships with both. He and Tom were friends back as children and pre-teens. The two were pretty much inseparable until Jordan had to suddenly move away and they lost contact. It was only after this move that Jordan settled on becoming a prosecutor, meeting the woman who would become his mentor, Ianite. During this time was also when he met Capsize, who he trained and worked alongside throughout law school, the two light-heartedly competed, especially about who would get their badge first. This ended with Jordan receiving his badge the same day Capsize was arrested. After her acquittal, and subsequent change in career paths, they ended up in a massive argument and the two haven’t spoken since. Since then, his focus has been on his prosecuting career, nearly entirely focusing on getting guilty verdicts and following the teachings of his mentor. His methods have been described as questionable, with rumours of false witnesses and evidence being used. It was these rumours that caught Tom’s attention and started his own path towards law.
Ianite ???: [Her last name isn’t unknown, she just is S1 Ianite not S2, so I don’t have a last name for her yet.] Jordan’s, and previously Capsize’s, mentor and the current head prosecutor, Ianite is a feared name in the law community. Any defence attorney going to face her in court has to pretty much accept a loss, even though her record is not completely flawless, her methods and presence in court is feared. After Capsize’s trial, she met briefly with Spark, just to make sure her ex-protégé was going to be in good hands. As much as she was sad to see her go, she realised it was likely better to let her forge her own path, especially after the fight between Jordan and Capsize. She hopes to face her as an equal in court one day.
Martha Conway: A renowned prosecutor with only two losses in her career, both of which were when facing her father in court. Despite what many would think, she and Spark don’t actually have a bad relationship, rather she merely decided to try and figure out the same mystery as him from a different angle. Though she would prefer not to face him in court again, given how the previous two times have gone.
Non-Lawyers:
Andor Conway: Spark’s grandson, a teenager who will come and visit his grandfather at least once a month. He often finds himself joining in with Tom and Capsize’s shenanigans outside of the office as his visits are the only time he gets to actually mess around since he has a lot of responsibilities back home (and also his dad is a dick). Also, he has the magical power to contact the spirits of the dead, don’t worry about it.
Redbeard Dunbar: A police detective and Capsize’s brother, he is the head investigator on most of Jordan’s cases, and hence runs into Tom a lot more than either would like (at least until the two warm up to each other). It actually takes until the end of his first case with the detective in charge of the investigation for Tom to realise he’s Capsize’s brother, something that entertains Capsize to no end.
Sonja Foxx: Sonja was Capsize’s girlfriend back in law school. The two were extremely close, until Capsize’s arrest and the subsequent trial where Sonja was the key witness of the prosecution. The testimony she gave made Capsize’s guilt clear, and as Spark proved, was completely false. Why she gave false testimony against her was not revealed in the trial, and Sonja disappeared shortly afterwards, leaving Capsize confused and heartbroken. Recently, she’s reappeared back in town, a fact known to Tom and Spark, but not to Capsize. A little after Tom’s first case, she came to the office asking after Capsize, though she wasn’t there at the time and Sonja quickly left upon seeing Spark. The two decided not to tell Capsize about her reappearance, at least for now while they’re still unsure of why she’s returned.

What did you want to say about your hypothetical Flatland adaptation?
Glad you asked!
Long, long explanation below the cut.
So my Flatland story is sort of a sequel to the original story, and one that actually focuses more on Spaceland. It takes place at the beginning of the year 2050, fifty years after A Square's encounter with a three-dimensional sphere. A Square, at this point, has long since died miserable and alone in prison.
The third dimension, or 'Spaceland' is essentially just the universe as we know it. Earth is populated by geometric humans who see Flatland as an unexplainable curiosity and seek to study it. Of course, Spacelanders can only make their presence known once every millennium, so study has to consist mostly of observation.
There are two major science and technology enterprises leading the study of Flatland: GaussCo, and Sonnwell Scientific. GaussCo's Flatland division was founded and originally headed by a famous sphere named Albert, who was tasked with the duty of contacting Flatland at the beginning of 2000. His role as the head of GaussCo's Flatland division was passed down to his son Juno, and then to Juno's daughter Rutabaga, who is the current head in 2050.
Sonnwell Scientific came into the game a fair bit later, but is rapidly catching up in their research and advancements. However, there is a terrible reason for their success. Their scientists are kidnapping Flatlanders, imprisoning them in their labs, and performing all manner of cruel and unethical experiments on them! The public was outraged when they learned of this, but to Rutabaga's dismay, the outrage quickly died out in favour of morbid curiosity of the experiments' results.
Of course, what Sonnwell Scientific was doing should be a huge violation of the rule/tradition that Flatland can only be interacted with at the beginning of each millennium, but they had found a loophole. By capturing Flarlanders in dark vessels and not allowing them to see or know what was happening to them, they technically were not making themselves or the third dimension known to Flatland. From Flatland's perspective, a series of mysterious missing person's cases were occurring across the world.
The story begins on the eve of 2050. Rutabaga laments her legacy, the flaws of her father and grandfather, and the current state of affairs. In order to clear her head, she visits Flatland to observe it. Unfortunately, she arrives to find Sonnwell's scientists there collecting 'subjects'. She witnesses one of them take a mother and her children from a house.
Meanwhile, Edwin Square is out in town. To his surprise, there is a rush of people panicking, shouting claims of a notable politician disappearing right before everyone's eyes. Soldiers are quickly neutralising them. E Square rushes home to safety, only to find that his wife and children are missing. Realising that they've likely become the latest victims of the unexplained disappearances, he falls into a hysterical panic. Suddenly, a disembodied voice tells him, "You deserve to know the truth".
Rutabaga is absolutely violating the "once every millennium" rule/tradition by speaking directly to a Flatlander, but she does not care anymore. She attempts to explain to Edwin what has happened to his family, but he does not understand. So, like her grandfather, she pulls him into the third dimension, with which E Square is in awe. The lesson continues, and E Square refuses to return home without his family, but Rutabaga has no way of getting them back for him. In the meantime, she puts Edwin in a simulated two-dimensional space in her research facility, where he will live for the duration of the story.
From then on Rutabaga and her best friend/assistant Barnaby will try to find some way to rescue Edwin's wife and children, along with the rest of the captured Flatlanders, from Sonnwell's labs, while also dealing with their own personal problems and the flaws of society.
Of course, the whole thing is hypothetical. I don't think I have the patience or commitment to flesh out the entire thing into any medium.

i think in my worldbuilding zygerrian as a language is actually like far less gendered than even english, because all the pronouns specify social standing rather than gender & a lot of words are probably gender neutral unless they’re About gender (like, words for vocations and so on). but at the same time zygerrian speakers are going to assume a woman as the default because that’s statistically far more likely in their culture, so a zygerrian speaking basic will probably default to feminine nouns where in zygerrian the equivalent nouns are gender neutral. this is particularly true of like, the words queen and empress, because in a matrilineal society where some 75% of the population is female and fathers don’t figure into it, it’s like. You wouldn’t have a king very often and you’d certainly want his sisters to hurry up and have daughters so the royal line isn’t toast. if you’re a monarchist anyway.
but anyway what im getting at here is that i think outside assumptions paint zygerria as a matriarchy bc women hold more positions of power & because royal legitimacy is determined matrilineally when really it’s primarily a question of numbers. like certainly one might wonder in a society where 75% of people are female why 75% of people in power are female. that’s a real head scratcher
it’s interesting in the sort of political clusterfuck i have set up in my story. pfeil is a prince, and basically by the time of the plot he and his aunt are the only two members of the line that are alive, and his aunt is queen. if SHE had kids, they’d be in line before pfeil even though he’s older. but if he took the throne and she never had kids, obviously the line would end. EXCEPT.
pfeil is trans. i think zygerria as a culture really has few or no hangups about trans people; they are too busy being comically evil and horrendously bigoted in other ways to be transphobic. so in my mind for all anybody cares he’s no less male than a cis man. but it does raise the question for me of like…whose family ARE they part of, then? because he’s gay, so if he has children he’s having them with a man, who ALSO within that culture cannot pass anything on to his kids. most gay male couples would probably raise an adoptive child for obvious reasons so this is a weird edge case that is suddenly of paramount political importance to all the stupid catgirl empire. i imagine if pfeil ever took the throne and was obligated to have children the solution would probably be that his children would still be legitimate parts of the line because he’s the gestational parent, which is Close Enough. if he had kids with a trans woman obviously she’d take priority as the actual mother but that wouldn’t happen. none of this would happen but you get me. it’s a fun thought experiment.
i think also like. emet is still in this setting. he identifies partially as a woman but not entirely and in a weird way. if he were the dadmom the debates would potentially be really fierce. like is the kid part of the royal line because pfeil was the gestational parent and emet is transfeminine in a not strictly binary way rather than a trans woman, or is the kid not part of the line because emet identifying even partially as female would automatically grant him the right to designate the kid his own heir. Absolute fucking nightmare

BIOGRAPHY
Charlotte has always been the epitome of the oldest sibling among the Moretti Sisters. As a child, she begged her parents for siblings and was thrilled when the universe had given her not just one, but two sisters. Her first thoughts became for them, often putting their needs before her own. She taught them what she knew about their magic, the magic that had been inherited and passed down and how beautiful using it could be. She reveled in using their magic, always finding new and inventive ways to make her sisters laugh. As they grew and blossomed, the threat of marriage became imminent. Charlotte had tried to hold on to her youth as tight as she could, wanting to stay with her sisters always, but was arranged a marriage quicker than she could accept. In those days, it was almost demanded of young women. However could they take care of themselves without a man to guide them? She tried to play the devoted wife, hoping beyond hope that she would eventually find some sort of affection for her husband, but it never came. She became adept at hiding it, but when her tone would become to curt, she'd get the back of the hand, or a smack to the nose. She did her best to hide it from her sisters, but they knew her too well. Fortunately her magic had been enough to keep her from getting pregnant with her monster's children, but that would soon change. Tensions were mounting between the families of Raven's Peak. Charlotte watched in horror as each family fought for power that she had always thought was theirs, by rights. The night the stone broke, she was watching her husband ready a carriage for the two of them, dreading the thought of going to visit his family. Suddenly, her body started waking in ways she had never felt before, her teeth sharpening, her flesh tearing. The carriage had been ready in vain, unused as her first transition into wolf form took effect. She can still remember the pain...and then waking up with the sun beating down on her skin, and her husband with his throat ripped out, blood all over her face and hands. She tried to use her magic when she found her husband, but it was gone. She simply turned around and walked back into her home, later convening with her sisters by gathering them in her arms as they each talked about their own experiences. They were no longer full of magic, only full of animal rage, it seemed. Since then, Charlotte has felt the pressure to keep her sisters and her afloat, to keep them from being hunted and to keep them in the place they'd always thought of as home. She learned to cook and even opened up her own restaurant, going strong for decades, now. She's quick to make friends, though wary when she needs to be. Her life is lived for her sisters and herself, no one could ever doubt it.

things that each greaser struggles with:
these are mostly headcanons i came up with. also, this gets pretty angsty.
content warning: alcoholism, addiction, anxiety.
darry:
- maturity. he thinks everybody looks at him like the “dad” of the group instead of just another friend, and he loathes it. he misses whenever he was able to skip work to catch a movie at the drive-in or take ponyboy and sodapop up to the dingo for lunch.
- accidental intimidation. his build is very large and strong, which is good for his job and for when he’s actually trying to, well, intimidate people, but other than that it just makes him feel guilty for being so unapproachable.
- relationships. specifically, darry is very insecure in his relationship with pony. he especially hates it whenever pony dogs on him for forgetting things or accusing him of not caring.
- emotional intelligence. he knows he comes across as cold. and he hates it. he has lots of emotions and he doesn’t air them out in a healthy way, so he tries his best to cut all the emotions off altogether in hopes that the negativity will stop, but it just makes him feel even more insecure.
- social skills. in high school, it was all much easier for him, but now that he’s working full-time and running the household, he’s fallen majorly behind in the social scene. he never goes out to the drive-in or to the dingo, and at first it was because he was too busy, but now, even if he doesn’t have a shift, he’ll make up some excuse because he’s too nervous to go and have to talk to people again since he feels like he’s gonna mess up.
- identity. darry was just starting to feel comfortable in himself and in his role in the world right before his parents died, and when they did, he stopped trying to figure out what made him happy. it has made him insecure of the emotional stint that is centered around his ego and sense of self.
sodapop:
- smarts. it’s canon that he’s insecure about this.
- growing up. while everybody else moves on to new things and grows up, he feels like he’s stuck in the same place watching everybody else progress while he stays behind. this was especially true after sandy left, because marrying her was going to be this huge exciting step in his life and when she left, he didn’t have that fulfillment anymore.
- reassurance. he feels a constant need for approval, and he will take it wherever he can get it. there’s a sort of pride he gets whenever he sees a girl checking him out, but there’s a deeper feeling telling him that she’s gonna run away once she finds out about how ‘stupid’ he is.
- authority. soda has a really hard time talking to people who are in a position of power. he gets all nervous and his hands get sweaty and his face goes sheet white in panic. his charm and social skill is enough to satisfy a conversation with a person his age, but he feels silly trying to be confident in front of an adult. he feels like they look down on him and will laugh.
- fatherhood. he’s very insecure about having a family in the future. he feels like he never appreciated his dad’s skilled parenting while he could, and since then darry has been a sort of fatherly figure in the house, but it’s hard for soda to see it that way. he grew up for 16 years with darry as a big brother and for him to suddenly be forced into a father role is troubling for soda. because of this complicated dynamic between soda and fatherhood, he feels like he won’t be able to be the best father possible for his children.
- legs. he hates his legs. you will never see soda in a pair of shorts, not even when he’s swimming. he doesn’t like the way they’re shaped and thinks that they make the rest of his body look odd, so he wears loose jeans to hide them. he’s also embarrassed of being embarrassed about them, so nobody knows, not even steve.
dallas:
- emotional intelligence. his lack of emotional intelligence is something he battles with a lot. he understands what people are feeling, but he has a hard time understanding why they feel that way. he says it’s because he’s too tuff to deal with emotions, but deep down he knows it’s because he was thrust into a traumatic childhood so early on that he never had time to build emotional bonds with people that would strengthen his empathy and understanding.
- his past, another canon take. he hates talking about it, even the good stuff, because when he thinks about new york all he can picture is 10 year old dallas watching a man being covered in a white sheet by the paramedics on the side of the road. he thinks about his friends from there and knows they’re all either locked up or dead, and it ruins any enjoyment he gets from reminiscing on the good times.
- health. he definitely has crohn’s or IBS or something else that makes his stomach hurt whenever he eats, and it embarrasses him to no end. he’s always anxious that his stomach is going to start hurting when he’s with the gang and is going to have to find some excuse to leave. he smokes so much while he’s out with them to keep from getting hungry until he gets back to buck’s place.
- his friendships. the shepherd gang is close-knit. then, the curtis’ are brothers, steve has known them forever, and two-bit is outgoing enough to make himself fit in to the group. johnny is the closest person dallas relates to, and it’s the friendship hes the most secure in.
- his smile. he knows smoking ruins his teeth, and he knows they’re crooked all over, and he knows that when he smiles his lips crack and stretch out.
johnny:
- his appearance, canon insecurity. he looks young for his age, and when the gang found him in the lot after he was beaten by Socs, they all started treating him like he was young too. he didn’t think the scar on his face was tuff, it just reminded him of being attacked.
- his voice. this is less about how it sounds and more about him not being able to speak over the shouting at home. he hates yelling, and he won’t stand in to speak up for him cause he’s too afraid of being told to “stop yelling”.
- being average. johnny feels painfully average in everything he does. he’s tried to find a skill that he truly loves and wants to take time to be good at, but he always gets frustrated and quits before he can improve.
- romance. almost every aspect of it terrifies johnny. he doesn’t know what a healthy marriage looks like, what he does know was from Mr and Mrs Curtis, but seeing them die together warped his sense of love. he doesn’t understand why you would want to love somebody so much if you didn’t have to. he doesn’t like the “til death do us part” aspect of marriage, because it makes him feel trapped. he’s not afraid of commitment, he’s afraid that he will end up in a marriage like his parents’ and not be able to leave.
two-bit:
- alcoholism. he’s an alcoholic and he knows it, but he’s been stuck in the vicious cycle of addiction for such a long time that the only way he knows how to cope with the emotional baggage of addiction is to drink more.
- social awareness. as of now, he’s very self-aware and extremely skilled in reading a room, but he didn’t used to be. he used to crack jokes at the wrong time and get scolded for it, and it made him feel horrible. like he wasn’t able to experience all the same sad feelings as everybody else because they reacted differently to the sadness than he did. they wanted to process the sadness while he wanted to ignore it.
- being absent at home. he knows he spends the majority of time at the curtis house, and he also knows that his mother spends the majority of her time at work, which leaves his little sister at home alone. he has a good relationship with her, but he doesn’t like for her to see him drunk, and as his alcoholism progresses, that gets to be more and more often. he knows this, and it’s one of the main reasons he’s so insecure about his addiction, because she’s the one who let him know that it wasn’t a one-way street. his problem affected him and her.
- commitment. two-bit is young, but he feels old enough to know how relationships work. he saw his dad walk out on them, and he was never able to process how you could go from marrying someone to leaving and never looking back. at first, he thought that his dad was just a selfish jerk, but when he met johnny and saw that his parents were also married and simultaneously abusive, he convinced himself that all marriages were bound to end up that way. he believes that if the curtis’ lived longer, they would have eventually gotten bitter and tired of each other, because in his mind, that’s just what couples do.
ponyboy:
- confidence. he has a lot of insecurities, and they’re shared pretty evenly between physical and non physical. he doesn’t like his body or his eyes. he doesn’t like how impulsive and dramatic he is.
- security. not in himself, but in life. he’s permanently on edge, feeling anxious about who’s going to be around the corner and what would happen if he got jumped and how many Socs he’d be able to fight off in case anything happened. his parents’ sudden deaths did not help this. he feels like life is constantly tossing him around, and he never feels completely safe.
- emotional outbursts. this isn’t exclusive to ponyboy, but he struggles with it the most. he hates getting upset with people, and he hates hurting other people’s feelings. when he’s feeling too many things, he starts to speak without a filter and gets mad at the littlest things, and he knows that it makes everybody around him feel bad.
- fitting in. in contrast to johnny’s insecurity, ponyboy wants nothing more than to fit in. he’s tired of being the only greaser in his classes, he’s tired of his isolated taste in movies and theatre, he’s tired of being a track star, and he’s tired of all the pressure put on him since he isn’t average.
steve
- masculinity. his dad always enforces an unrealistic standard of being strong, independent, and logical. steve is inherently all of these things, but the pressure he feels to keep it up weighs him down.
- comparing himself to others. it started in middle school when he noticed all of the people liked sodapop more. from then on he couldn’t help but feel like soda was more attractive and charming, darry was stronger and smarter, two-bit was funnier and cooler, dallas was tougher and unbothered, johnny was more likeable and down-to-earth, and ponyboy was more creative and well spoken.
- addiction. there was a time in steve’s life where he was getting high every day. at first it was fun, but then he had to quit track because he wasn’t as athletic as he used to be. it ruined his health and motivation. he started working on cars more to keep himself busy, and it helped a lot, even got him a job.
- hyperindependence. steve’s biggest character flaw is that he can’t ask for help. whether it’s asking for help in school or asking for soda to hand him a tool in the garage, steve can’t bring himself to do ask. it makes him feel like he’s not good enough to do it on his own.

OKAY so on the topic of Star Wars takes wrt “character ends up in an A/B/O universe where they’re an omega, but they were previously a cis male in their canon”
@atagotiak and I had some Thoughts on discord
So, obviously, Anakin would make a good omega and he’s also incredibly murdery. Foregone conclusion that we're using him for this.
There is no preexisting Anakin in the Omegaverse. He shows up JUST as the war is starting. Canon timeline is in the third year of the war (he’s 22), but whatever dumped him into omegaverse also tossed him back a few years. No de-aging, just a bit of mismatched timeline stuff.
He's... really good at war, and clearly a Jedi, so the Temple just kind of goes "WELL OKAY THEN, SURE, YOU'RE IN, EVERYONE PRETEND HE'S BEEN HERE THE WHOLE TIME." The Jedi, by and large, don't care about omegaverse dynamics beyond 'what do you need, medically, to be happy and healthy' and 'what do you need to be aware of so you can be prepared for biases you encounter in the field?’
None of the civilian natborns (mainly politicians) want to put him on the field because of those biases. Anakin, being Anakin, is VERY blatantly an omega in scent, has never been on suppressants (because it wasn't a thing he fucking NEEDED), is incredibly emotional as a person, loves kids, etc.
Like, nobody wants an omega fighting a war anyway, but THIS one is like PINNACLE omega, and those awful Jedi are making him FIGHT just because he's good at stab!
The Jedi: Actually, it's because he's got several years of war experience that we don't, and he's a good tactician that works well with the clones-- Coruscant: You MONSTERS The Jedi: Look, we gave him the option to not stab and he looked absolutely devastated. Anakin, several days earlier: You don’t want me? I’m not good enough??? Jedi: Also he can beat up at least half the temple.
He doesn't know a damn thing about dynamics, but he DOES know that sometimes he's so horny he wants to stab HARDER. The clones are largely disinterested in their generals' dynamics because between mostly-Mando* trainers and no-dynamic Kaminoans, they only really care if a person can shoot.
* Mandalore approves of Fighty Omegas. As far as (traditional) Mandalore is concerned, you want an omega that will kill the threats to your children as well as you do.
Anakin: You know more about being an omega than I do. Rex: ...I'm an alpha. Anakin: Yeah. Let that one sink in a bit.
We have two options for Obi-Wan!
Omegaverse local Obi-Wan (beta) has never met this man before, and is very unnerved that the immediate default reaction Anakin has to his presence is releasing Family pheromones as if Obi-Wan is his DAD and like. This strange, too-tall man from another dimension has got absolutely NO control over what he projects in the Force OR in his dynamic.
Obi-Wan was ALSO transplanted from canon to omegaverse, and is also an omega, for contrast reasons. He is nice and friendly and and likes poetry and that sort of thing... but also he has the highest dismemberment count in the movies. Also he doesn’t prioritize romance.
We went with the second one because it's hilarious.
Someone watching them spar: Wow, omegas from that universe are terrifying.
As previously mentioned, now with some tweaking to account for both: Obi-Wan and Anakin just straight up don't exist until they drop headfirst into the council room, already covered in blood. (It's mostly not theirs.)
Nobody realizes either one is an omega until they "naturalize" to this dimension and Anakin goes into heat... and doesn't realize it, actually, because his primary symptom is heightened protectiveness and aggression. Everyone else with the right nose realizes, because the man has no control over his pheromone production, but Anakin? No. He just stabs. He’s angry and horny and he will cut someone.
Ahsoka has no reaction to human pheromones but basically everyone smells Anakin's "my child!" reaction to her, so... Cool. Have a padawan, we guess.
Anakin ends up sparring a lot with Aayla and Ahsoka, because only humans and near humans have dynamics, so these two don't REACT to the pheromones situation.
(Palpatine is a Kindly Old Beta who tries to treat Anakin the way he EXPECTS Anakin wants to be treated, which is. Not. Accurate.)
(Anakin hates it.)
I'm just so in love with "An omega can't fight." "You wanna fuckin' bet?"
There are plenty of omega Jedi, by the way, it's just... most of them can keep it relatively low-key instead of Anakin's jet-engine broadcast. Some, if they're known to be omega, probably take advantage of being underestimated, like Obi-Wan probably (and especially a version of Obi-Wan that was always an omega, unlike this version). They have a very different way of presenting themselves than Anakin, who's not subtle about being an omega and also not subtle about being all aggressive and stabby.
At one point, Anakin has to protect some Very Traditional Individuals who get all "Stay back, Omega, it's not safe!" and he's just... so tired of this shit. “You are squishy civilians and I'm a trained Jedi Knight and accomplished GAR General who's killed more people in one sitting than there are in this entire palace. Sit the fuck down and let me do my job.”
It starts making the rounds that Anakin insisted on fighting in person, and the rumors shift from "how dare the Jedi force an omega to fight" and over into things that are deeply hurtful in-universe in the vein of "broken omega" and some people try to say it to his face but like...
He didn't grow up here.
He doesn't care.
Say that to one of his friends and he's going to rip out your spleen, probably, but say it to him and he's just staring at you flatly and asking if that's a negative on getting away from the encroaching battle droids, sir?
"You're rather unpleasant for an omega, aren't you?" [deeply offensive] "I literally could not give less of a fuck about your opinion. Move."
It's not that there aren't omegas that act like Anakin, either, it's just that most of them aren't, you know, Jedi who regularly interact with the upper crust, or capable of his level of destruction. Unbeknownst to Anakin, everyone clocks him as Outer Rim based on his behavior, well before his accent gives him away, and certainly before he mentions he's from Tatooine, because Core Omegas Don't Act Like That.
Someone they meet in a more diplomatic setting says something decently passive-aggressive about how at least Obi-Wan acts more like how an Omega should. Then a battle breaks out for some reason, and... well. Anakin and Obi-Wan cause such a scandal by keeping score of kills in a battle, don’t you know?
Turns out sending Anakin to fight Ventress is great because she keeps expecting him to react a certain way but NO he's here to STAB.
I like the idea that Obi-Wan's favorite opponent these days is Grievous because the cyborg doesn't have a nose, and thus gives zero fucks about dynamics or heats. Dooku is a rich old man who has opinions heavily influenced by Sith Juice Making Him More of a Dick, and the Dathomiri can smell dynamics even if they don't have them, and so they have biases about those things. Meanwhile, Grievous is just there to Kill, and Obi-Wan genuinely appreciates the lack of commentary on his dynamic.
Dooku’s probably an alpha, or a beta who's used the whole "we are more level-headed" thing as one of several angles to keep himself the public face and supreme commander of the CIS.
On to more fluffy things that have less to do with political biases.
There's a lot of "I'm upset that my loved ones don't know me," but also please understand the appeal of Obi-Wan marching up to Quinlan like "Yes, hello, I understand you've been read in on the full situation behind myself and my former padawan. I was close friends with your alternate universe self, which I feel is necessary disclosure before I propose the following: Would you like to join me for my upcoming heat, as I have minimal experience with the dynamics situation and even fewer people I actually trust, and I believe I can put my faith in you to treat it as casually as necessary while still having control and respect for my person."
(The Team is in a fairly safe place to process stuff, but having sudden unexpected changes to your biology has gotta be a little traumatizing, on top of ending up in a universe where none of your friends know you and people have a whole host of unfamiliar forms of sexism to point at you.)
Obi-Wan, who wasn't quite touch-averse but was much more easily overwhelmed by physical contact than Anakin (who craved it), suddenly finds his body switching gears and insisting on cuddles with Trusted Loved Ones, which is.... mostly Anakin, on account of nobody else really knowing him yet. Also Ahsoka, who is aware that she's something of a replacement for her alt-universe self, but Anakin explained it as "I love you so much no matter which dimension I'm in or what you're like, and I'd like to get to know you the way I got know her."
(It's rather eloquent for Anakin. He got Obi-Wan to help him draft up the script for when he pitched taking on omegaverse Ahsoka as a padawan.)
Anakin gets a more intensely sexual heat than 'usual' at one point for Reasons (IDK it could be as innocuous as 'we got better food than the usual rations and my body is reacting to the higher fat content with the belief that it's safer to have a baby now'), which nobody takes a whole lot of notice of because they're in a WAR, and also this is only his fourth one so it's not like he's got a lot to compare it to... except then the predominantly alpha clones can't stop themselves from reacting to the pheromones, mostly by wandering past his door and asking if he needs anything, offering up alpha-scented blankets and stuff for the nest to soothe the hormones, bringing snacks and electrolyte drinks, and like, Anakin is flattered, really, but fuck off please.
(He got a warning from medical a few hours before it hit that it would be different, so he actually does have alpha-scented fabrics to help him out. Apparently that's a thing you can just ask friends for, so he asked Rex if he had anything on hand that he could spare. He now has one of Rex’s recently-used sheets and a bodyglove in the nest.)
(Anakin has no idea how to feel about the nesting instinct, but at least it’s warm.)
Tia asked "Oh hey, who has the scared and horny reaction to his carnage?" and like.
Listen. I'm not saying I've been low-key imagining this as Rex being a very subby alpha who's really into Anakin's whole Thing but...
At one point Anakin gets injured in a way that requires painkillers and he ends up whining to the point of almost crying about the fact that nobody is cuddling him right now in medbay and Kix just gives up and comms Ahsoka to come hug her weird older brother.
And Then There Is Purring.
That’s a Thing Now.
Rex ends up in the pile somehow. He came over to check on Things and ended up yanked in by half-asleep, half-high Anakin, who has a grip like an octopus and no impulse control and is purring like a pod motor while NUZZLING HIM.
There’s a lot of blackmail photos featuring Rex’s very intense blush as he’s cuddled by his commander (giggling at him) and general (clinging like a tooka and rubbing himself all over).
Anakin is deeply offended that ANYONE thinks he'd want to get pregnant by just any old person, NO he needs to fall in LOVE there needs to be EMOTIONAL DRAMA and if Padme won't have him (apparently she's in a relationship and no he's not BITTER) then he'll find someone else to have a whirlwind romance with!
People think Anakin's a slut because he can't control his pheromone production (he has NO practice and for health reasons he can't go on suppressants) so he always smells open and ready for flirtations, which Obi-Wan also has to a somewhat lesser degree (he's older so his body just naturally produces less), and then someone tries to cross a boundary and grabs his ass and ANYWAY Anakin has to now fill out an incident report for breaking a civilian's arm.
Again.

9 - Y/n Grady
(Gif not mine. Belongs to who created it)
Part 10
Hybrid Trainer
4 years later
Today's the day, the day I become Owen's wife.
Claire was the one preforming the ceremony and Maisie is taking care of baby Jewel. Stepping out onto the porch of the cabin the wind blows around my white summer dress with my hair completely loose. Owen hangs his mouth open in awe wearing one of his best dress shirts and blue jeans. It's only been a few months since the fall of the island, since the day our baby was born. When Owen mentioned he'd been waiting to put a ring on my finger I nearly went crazy. To an outsider who only sees me as human it's totally normal. But to people like doctor Wu it's crazy. A human and a hybrid raptor getting married.
Finally reaching Owen we interviewed hands with him releasing a wissell. "Here we go huh Y/n. A human raptor trainer." I finished his sentence feeling my heart starting to beat faster in excitement. "And a hybrid, half raptor and half human. About to become..." We both chuckled out the last part together in unison. "Husband and Wife." Claire stepped up resting her hands over our interviewed ones preforming the ceremony. "We are gathered here today to bring these two people together in marriage. You may start with the vows..." Owen clears his throat staring down at me with those green eyes. "Y/n, years before I met you I wasn't good with committed relationships that involved more than sex. For two reasons I avoided it all together. One was because I didn't think I'd be good and because I didn't think I'd ever find the one for me. That was true until you came into my life." He let's some tears show finishing his vows. "Y/n, you and I have gotten through the tough times together. So I promise to always be by your side, to love you and our daughters with all my heart, and from this day forward I'll protect you as your husband."
"Owen, I love you with all my heart. I came into this world scared and confused. An experiment by Dr. Wu to create more hybrids. I thought I was alone until they assigned you to look out for me." I started my vows squeezing his hands in mine feeling tears already forming. "I never thought love would be an opinion for someone who had to hide what they were. That they're part dinosaur. It still amazes me that I managed to get someone like you. So from this day forward I know I'll love you and protect our children, Blue, Maisie and Jewel. And the one thing I'm damn sure of is that there's no one else I'd rather want to call ne their wife. Nobody else except you."
Claire wiped away tears and I see Maisie lightly crying as well. "Maisie uh - rings please." She stepped up taking them from Jewels little hands. "Owen, do you take Y/n L/n to be your wife?" Owen slips his grandmother's ring on my left hand. "I do." Claire turned to me asking the same question. "Y/n, do you take Owen Grady to be your husband?" I didn't my smile could get any bigger today but I was wrong. "I do." My fingers slipped the bkack ring onto his hand. A smirk grows across Owen's face and I had to ask knowing it's never good with him. "What's that for Grady?" He suddenly cups my face in his hands cutting me off with a kiss. I gasped at first then kissed him back. "Owen you were supposed to wait!" Claire scolds him but he doesn’t seem to care instead he pulled me into his chest when my arms go around his neck deepening the kiss.
Suddenly we hear the leaves on the tress rustling. Owen pushed me behind his back without a thought. Claire and Maisie syndrome behind him to. My eyes squint to see some sort of tail hitting against the tress. "Owen, is that - no it can't be right?" I can't even form a sentence when a dinosaur foot comes in view for us to see. Maisie gasped behind my ear when I glanced up to my new husband who has his mouth open a little in shock. A part of me wanted to believe we'd never see her again. That the last we saw her would be when Maisie set all dinosaurs free to roam the Earth. But yet Owen mumbled out slowly finally locking eyes with the last living velociraptor. "Blue."
Comments really appreciated ❤️
I know I've already posted this part but this is just to clear the timelines. Since in the last chapter Owen and her were still engaged.

“Jude” part 1 of 3
On the day Jude turned twenty-five, she hid herself away, found a quiet spot where no one could see her and cried. It was embarrassing enough to have the world know her as a useless, pathetic old hen, but she couldn't stand the thought of their judgmental stares. Even now she could hear their comments, their sneers of her failure to find a mate.
It wasn't her fault her plumage was the color of piss. She tried everything she could to lessen the bright- almost blindingly- yellow of her feathers and failed. Nobody would want that ugly shade passed down to their kin. Now at the age of twenty-five, she was too old to have eggs.
Her mother eventually found her. "Jude? My sweet hen, come out, you haven't eaten all day."
"What does it matter?" Jude sniffled, burying her face into her wing. "It's clear no one wants me. So what's the point?"
"You're being dramatic. Come out here."
Jude lifted up her long head away from her wing. Her piss-colored feathers were a mess and needed grooming.
Her mother clicked her beak. "Oh, my sweet chick..."
"I can't stay here..." Jude whispered. "Momma... I can't. I need to leave this place. Go somewhere else. Start somewhere new."
"This is your home. Where would you go?"
"I don't know. I'll change planets if I have to. Like... Where was that place Lucie went to last year? Earth?"
Her mother's feathers suddenly fluffled, and she stood up, her beak snapping angrily. "You don't want to go there, sweet chick! Those humans are monsters! They eat lesser fowl."
So did Jude's kind. Many species across the universe did. Last night alone Jude ate four smaller birds, feathers, bones and all. But humans didn't eat their fowl raw. They liked to pluck, and broil, and boil, and bake, and deep fry. They did things to fowl no other species has ever done. It was seen as disgusting and cruel.
But humans were not their enemies. In fact humans were their allies back during the Great War three clicks ago. Surely that meant something.
"I need to leave," Jude repeated. "Earth can't be worse than being here. I'm going momma. I'm going."
***
Jude had no expectations of the small blue planet. She read a few books and watched a few videos to get a grasp of what sort of world she was stepping into. She was told many humans eat fowl on the street and she should ready herself should any unpleasant humans choose to use their food to mock her. Jude just hoped she wasn't immediately shunned the moment she got off the ship.
"Hello," Jude said, coming up to her first human. The human was bent over her desk, writing something. "I'm checking in. This is my passport."
The human woman looked up, saw the piss-colored feathers and her jaw dropped. "Oh my!"
Jude felt like someone slapped her. Not even five minutes on this planet and already she was getting looks of horror. Something must've shown on her face, because the human immediately backtracked, averted her eyes and said, "Apologies, ma'am. It's not often I meet an Aves. I hope you forgive me."
At least she apologized. Still, this first introduction on Earth did not forbade well.
"It's fine," Jude mumbled. Lord, she made a great mistake coming here.
After getting her passport confirmed and stamped with an Earth logo, Jude walked out onto the busy floor of the intergalactic travel hub. She was stunned to see it. There were hundreds of humans and aliens all around her, running or walking to their destination. Some were waiting in line for food, others were reading, many were on their devices. It wasn't a scene Jude was unfamiliar with, but this was the first time she's seen so many humans at once.
It took her a few seconds longer to realize while she stared at them, many of them stared back.
The humans were pointing, whispering amongst their own. Some even raised their devices to not-so-subtly take pictures of Jude.
What was this? Why was this happening? Have they never seen an Aves before? There was a fellow Aves by the window, a male with bright blue feathers, but he was being ignored by the humans near him. Only Jude was being stared at.
This was worse than being at home. At least on her homeworld, once someone took a look at Jude's hue, they ignored her. Here, she was a freak put on display. Unable to take it anymore, Jude turned around to get back on the ship. If she had to, she'll jump from planet to planet until she found one so remote, there'll be no one to judge her.
She barely took two steps when suddenly a small boy ran up to her and wrapped his arms around her legs.
"Mmm' bird!" Said the boy, giggling.
Jude startled. "Excuse me?"
"Mmm' bird! Mmm' bird!"
The boy's mother quickly ran up, grabbing her son and pulling him away from Jude. "I am so sorry about that! He just gets excited. Jonas, that's not nice! You don't grab people's legs like that!"
"Mmm' bird!"
The mother blinked, and then took a second look at Jude. She gasped. "Oh? Oh my! You look..."
Jude immediately flinched. Was this going to be her entire experience on Earth? People staring at her and recoiling? Jude curled away, ready to hear all the ugly taunts from home. Ugly. Frightful. Hideous.
"You look..." The mother smiled warmly, her cheeks turning pink. "You look like Big Bird!"
"I- what?"
Jonas broke away from his mother's grip and ran back to Jude, again hugging her legs. "Mmm' bird! Mmm' bird!"
The mother herself giggled shyly. "Oh, this is like a childhood dream come true! You look exactly like Big Bird! It's no wonder everyone's staring at you. I love your feathers! They're so beautiful!"
Jude couldn't even speak. This was the first time in her life someone said her feathers were beautiful. The mother wasn't the only one. The humans who stared at her repeated the same name, laughing and excitedly clapped their hands. Many young children were begging their parents to come over, and even humans who were old and greying looked at Jude with joyful expressions.
"It's Big Bird!" The humans said in a voice of pure delight.
***
Jude acknowledged on some level it was insulting to know the only reason humans flocked to her was due to an ancient children's program. But she didn't care. She came to this planet expecting sneers or outright disregard. Now, as she walked down the street, she reveled in the joy she brought to people's lives.
Without knowing it, Big Bird had made a home for her to come to.
