#2 oz vanilla vodka (i used pearl bc its cheap and good)#1 oz lemon juice#1 oz lavender syrup (1 part sugar 1 part 1 water in a sauce pan#healthy coating of EDIBLE!!!! lavender to cover the top#bring to boil then reduce to a simmer for 5 mins#take off heat and let that shit steep for a bit#longer the better#i say 25 mins at the LEAST for a strong flavor#15 mins will do the job tho probs#filter out the lavender w a siv#add 3 drops each of blue/red food dye to make it purple if u want#garnish w a lemon#i bartend at a restaurant and this is one of our signature cocktails#i was iffy about lavender cocktails/lattes n shit before#but this drink changed me. the perfect balance of lavender notes and sweet/citrus#dan and phil#daniel howell#phil lester#amazingphil#dan and phil games#dnp#dnpgames#dipnpip#danisnotonfire#do people still use that tag#whatever. its there#danandphilgames#<3#i love them so much#they are my birth mothers

amazing how often you can reduce the sugar in dessert recipes by 25-50% without negatively affecting the end product. i just do it by default now. today i made carrot cake muffins and ended up halving the sugar called for by the recipe, and the end result still tastes sweet and dessert-y.
#i think recipes on the english internet are dominated by americans and the broad american palate is oversaturated with sweetness#like once you reduce your added sugar intake (and dont replace with artificial sweeteners) and allow time to adjust#you suddenly realize how overly sweet so much of our food is#like im not advocating people never eat sugar i just mean the amount used in food is just unnecessary#these muffins went from 20g to 10g of sugar each and like 10g is still plenty sweet tasting!!

This cake has significantly improved my life for the better. Always use greek yogurt in your chocolate cake base. ate like a 1/2 cup worth of cake and now im dead forever . but worth it.
#more volume + adds chcolate cheesecake flavor + more refreshing + lower cal if you reduce sugar and other ingredients significantly#did it with greek yogurt choco cake base then pour a bit of fairlife choco milk on top once its baked then do a cream cheese frosting then#cereal on top and thats the cake .

I'm honestly so tired, there is so much misinformation about diet and fitness out there... I'm just trying to find something that works for me and my needs but digging through the metric tons of bullshit is just exhausting.

Was giving everything in the vegetable a fertilized drink this morning and admired how big and thick the pods on the fava bean plants were getting.

And later that afternoon it occurred to me that people do typically harvest them before the pods turn brown and dry up so maybe I ought to look up how to tell when they're ready? Sue me, this is only my second attempt at growing them and the first attempt was a failure.
So lookee what I got:

There's a lot more pods left, but they weren't "ready". I think this was about nine pods total.
I know favas take a bit of work to extract the bits you eat, so I looked that up too. First part was stringing and splitting the pods to extract the beans:

The next was blanching in boiling water for a minute or two then plunging them in cold water to loosen the seed coats, then peeling those off:

That leaves you with the vibrant green inner bits, which you can then cook and eat.

I ended up with about a third of a cup of beans. It would be enough for one side serving, but I'm going to stretch it by tossing them into a garlic parmesan risotto instead since I have all the ingredients for it.
I figure if I don't end up liking fava beans then I can pick them out of the risotto, give them to the chickens, and let the rest of the pods go to seed for either swapping or cover cropping. I'll need to let some go to seed anyway even if I do like them to have some for next year.

put like twice the called for blueberries in these muffins and they were like half blueberry and thus wonderful
