You don't need to walk endlessly on a treadmill.
Why not join a local walking group?
You don't need to go carb free.
Why not cut out refined carbs and stick to healthy ones?
You don't need to spend money on fancy sportswear to go running.
Why not wear your trackies, an old t-shirt and get going?
You don't need protein shakes, energy supplements or a snack before working out.
Why not try a fasted workout? See how it makes you feel. Trust me on that one....
You don't need a gym membership to get lean, toned and fit.
Why not download an app, follow YouTube home workouts or get some fitness dvds from ebay?
You don't need to eat to a set, habitual time schedule.
Why not listen to your body (not your emotions or your habits), and eat when and if you are honestly (and physically) hungry?
You don't need to follow the latest fad.
Why not put some research into what constitutes a nutritional, natural, high quality diet that you can follow forever?
You don't need to feel bad about where you are right now.
Why not commit to taking small, daily steps towards a brighter, healthier you?

On our walk yesterday I collected a few stray turnips that had been uprooted in a field. I'm making soup for lunch! I love my homemade soup. And making some with one of the veg being free is a bonus, lol.

Have you ever heard anyone say -
I really wish I'd never started taking better care of myself.
I hate how fresh fruit and vegetables make me feel.
Thank goodness I slept in instead of going to the gym this morning.
Having my clothes fit better really isn't worth it.
I miss feeling sluggish and bloated.
Ugh. What's with all this annoying energy?
I feel so much better after spending the whole day laying on the couch eating junk yesterday!
I wonder why that is?

Just as I got started with this, I had a serious symptom attack. Dreadful. One of the worst.
I had to pause for a few minutes.
I got through the routine, though.
Afterwards, I was trying to relax with a decaff.
And it was absolutely terrible. My throat is raw with it, and my head is sore.
Non stop for way too long.
I know it can take days or even weeks for trigger foods to clear the system. This is only my first morning without peanuts. But wow, I'm a total mess!
Maybe it's the yoga, lol.
Obviously kidding. Trying to make light of an awful situation!
I am at my wit's end, but I am completely out of ideas.
Still going on over two hours later.
I enjoyed my lunch, though, of course.
Sardines are fabulous. Packed with healthy omega 3's and a good source of protein too.
That's me done for today. In more ways than one. I need to rest literally everything.

Back to legs.
Had to add that last pic to show how tricky it is positioning that weight between my feet for the seated extension!
Excellent workout.
And it was great to get that sunrise in after that.
Dressed ready for a bike ride. Around 40 miles.
Yep, it's all about my legs today!

Well, it's a very long time since I did such an early workout!
Surprise, surprise, my blood sugars went the entirely opposite way. Been low literally ALL night. What the actual??
Anyhooo.....
I gave up after waking up fully at 3.30 and lying there for an hour before deciding I may as well get my weight training out of the way.
Didn't go heavy. The hydrants actually felt the heaviest.
Then I made myself a decaff (waiting til breakfast for that REAL coffee) and I'm sitting by candlelight in my huge dressing gown before waking the boss up.
It won't be a late one tonight!

A good, active (bulletproof fuelled) morning.
Just a short four mile walk between my two morning workouts.
Lovely fresh autumn morning. I prefer summer, lol, but I have to appreciate the beauty of this season.
Plus getting out in the fresh air is always a big mood and energy booster no matter what time of year.
Then after getting home, it was time for a good old fashioned cardio blast before lunch.

Fun, fifteen hour fast, fibre rich, high fat food, free time in the sunshine and fitness.
It's been a good Monday.
I have once again tweaked my macros. I couldn't sustain things at 10% carbs and 30% protein.
I was missing out on fruit and veggies. Just that extra 5% of my daily calories makes a difference. One really good thing, too, is adding that psyllium husk to push the fibre up! I mixed it into my greek yoghurt this morning, when I prepped my afternoon fruit snack. Psyllium is used as a thickener, and yep, it certainly did that! And SO filling!

Still feeling poorly. Still getting on with life as usual. I had my "curl up in my oodie, eat all the fruit and veggies with wikd abandon and whimper" day yesterday.
Back on track today. I've got a bad cold. I'm not dying!!
Tiny bit off my macros. Blame the cappuccino, lol. And I'm using psyllium husk to throw some fibre in.
MyFitnessPal uses total carbs for the percentages, so in reality those numbers will be different. I'm not so obsessive that I'm going to pay a premium subscription for any tracker to use NET carbs!
I add that lower section myself, to get the NET result.
So no, I'm not well. And yes, I'm doing what I do most of the time- carrying on regardless 😊👍
The top pics are from my latest YouTube workout. I'm just uploading it.

Yesterday was dreadful. Seriously. The mucus thing was beyond description. I'm considering a consultation with a homeopath. I genuinely can't carry on like this!
Today has been the same. At this point, I'm honestly thinking about just eating the things I like, because nothing I've so far cut out has made the slightest difference.
Anyway, on with my day. I have to carry on regardless.
Up and out in the damp, dingy morning for my 30 minutes. Upper body strength back at home, then breakfast.
I put my apple and nuts (with olive oil, pepper, mixed spices and cinnamon) in the microwave while my coffee brewed. I mix the collagen in my milk.
Head hurts, throat is raw and I'm, well.....pretty fed up with myself right now.
Once again, I share it all. The good, the average and the bad days.
As the day wore on, I went through the motions.
My second workout was basic cardio. Thought that might shake me up a bit.
I wasn't in the mood, lol, but I actually wasn't in the mood to move at all, no matter what kind of training.
But I got on with it, anyway. My stubbornness can be a blessing sometimes.
I was glad I chose that, as it was just a good blast of HIIT. Nothing crazy or complicated.
Perfect for a mood boost, as well as being great for my physical health.
I keep saying this, and I'll continue to do so - Movement is medicine!!
I then decided to go with my earlier thought. Just enjoy my food.
So I had a half portion of salted peanuts with half a portion of plain mixed (Yep - a whole lot of nuts this morning!!), and the first of my real caffeine hits.
I knew I would benefit from just getting on with getting plenty of exercise today.
So after that coffee settled, I was on with a freestyle bodyweight workout for my YouTube channel.
Lovely bacon, egg and mushrooms with cheese, a little salad, grapes and cottage cheese for lunch soon after that.
I was thinking of doing some yoga in the afternoon, but I got busy helping the boss sort out a new bike that we picked up yesterday.
Just needed some adjustments and he also wanted to save things from my old bike that were in good enough condition to keep for "spares".
Monday turned out to be a MUCH better one than I was expecting.
I feel a lot better now. Mentally and physically. And this feels like a day that I have conquered.

I've been a bit "meh" these past few days, but I am saying meh to being meh 😋.
Carrying on regardless is my ethos!
So I posted this morning about my 15hr fast time. That's right for me.
I broke that after my first workout of three.
I'm doing really well with my macros. Sticking to two out of three of the "ketobiotic" principles from the first Mindy Pelz book I read. 50g max NET carbs and 60% min healthy fats. I'm not concerned about the protein amount she recommends. 50 to 75g. That's just too low for me personally.
Especially now I'm back into real weight training!
Day one of my new programme.
Ooh it felt good. Well, those inverted rows didn't.....😂.
Literally years since I did any of them!
The programme had band assisted pull ups, but I can't do them. No equipment. This was the next best thing.
I've also put a fitness plan together for the week. That is always going to have to be open to having to modify or switch days. I can't predict a whole week 100% exactly. Probably will go like that, but have to be prepared to change things slightly. So "Pffft" mood or not, I'm happy with my day 😌

Well, that "keto porridge" messed me up in more ways than one!
Another long story, but my blood sugar crashed massively.
It was in the 2's for a very long time. Waaaay too low. And for way too long!
Had to eat even more to get it to stabilise.
The insulin I took for the porridge wasn't needed, because of the structure of the carb source. Coconut. That particular type of fibre obviously has no effect on my blood sugar! I know all about how fibre works, but for me personally I do still usually need to take insulin for total carbs rather than NET.
Anyway, after all that nonsense, I'm taking the day off. It's knocked the stuffing out of me.
No early walk, and no workouts. Back to normal tomorrow.
So I made a thermos of coffee, and came to sit outside. It's a dull, damp morning, but I still wanted my time in natural light.
Breakfast when I go back in. Not fasting, but I'm simply not hungry. I can still feel the effects of all that coconut, lol.

Ugh. No sunrise hues this morning!
Kind of interesting to note that my mood seems to match. Yesterday was the same. A snow filled sky, then a cloud/rain filled one today.
But I'm still sitting in natural morning light. That's just going to stay as part of my routine now. It definitely gives me a boost when the sunrise is actually there to see!
Another shorter fast, but still within my 14-15 hour schedule.
Upper body strength before my now daily breakfast of peanuts and home made cappuccino. I'm definitely over the two hour caffeine delay after a very bad diabetes night.
Yesterday I had my free day. No workouts and no food/macro tracking. I decided to see how an evening bowl of porridge would affect me. I cut that out of my diet several weeks ago.
Well, it was very nice whilst eating it, but I felt sluggish and overloaded afterwards. And it definitely seemed to have a lot to do with a full night of very high blood sugars! I keep saying this, and this makes it even more obvious - lower carb is my friend.
This morning I feel tired, lacking any "oomph" and just.....Pfft.
So back to my usual way. I won't give in to Monday blues, lol.

Pushing on through.
Seriously not feeling it today, but it's better to still put the effort in.
Would I rather feel a bit off it curled up on the couch or while I'm moving and taking care of my physical health?
The second one wins today.
Pilates after letting my breakfast settle.
Then out in the wet, windy weather for half an hour around the neighbourhood. I kept a pretty decent pace.
Lovely scrambled egg with bacon, cheese, mushroom and a spoonful of collagen peptides for lunch. I started preparing it as soon as I got back home.
Awesome meal 😍.
