Charlie Barnett (Yord) and Dafne Keen (Jecki) behind the scenes. This duo is so cute 😆

they took them too soon 🥹 And Dafne refers to Charlie as her “annoying screen sibling” 😭
Yord and Jecki you will always be loved.
I miss them already.

Okay, High Republic thoughts for real this time of the Avar/Elzar and Firebrand variety, now that the entire series is out there:
So prefacing this by saying it's been a while since I read Phase I in its entirety, so there are probably some little details I'm forgetting, particularly where Stellan's POV is concerned. I was flipping back through those books the other day and seeing Stellan's name on a page with dialogue was like, woah. I missed him. It feels like it's been forever since we've seen him.
I really thought the Avar/Elzar of it all was going to dovetail into the Order's stance on attachment that we see in the PT. What I mean by that is that someone, whether it be Avar or Elzar, would do something that makes them act out as a result of their attachment to each other. I don't know how much sense it would make since they're both pretty solid in the Light by that point. So I didn't know *how* they'd pull it off, but I did think they would do something with that. Yoda knows they're together and he's chill about it, so maybe Yoda would later recognize that losing one would almost certainly always mean losing both? But that only applies to attachments within the Order so....I don't know. Maybe that shift happens later for the Order. Then again, Jedi-Jedi attachments would be the most intense since they spend so much time together, so warnings against those would be especially firm. Although yes, Avar and Elzar do say no attachments, no expectations, they're still walking a pretty fine line.
Anyway, obviously HR is under no obligation to answer the attachment question, but it was right there so I figured they'd work it into something, since it is such a blatant 180 from what we see by the time we reach the PT.
I was also just reading back through parts of Temptation and Elzar says: "The Force needs something from us. Of course it does, but maybe it needs us together for it." (366)
Well now we know what THAT means.
Anyway, onto the Firebrands:
I wish wish WISH we'd had some Firebrand closure. I know we get the creepy Stellan vision, but only Elzar sees it and even then, it obviously has the Planet X cant to it where Elzar is having to face his fears and insecurities. Both Avar and Elzar are doing that through Phase III, and we see Avar deal with feelings that she wasn't good enough and that's what caused Stellan's death.
Although, the whole 'if I'd lived and had been in the OZ with Avar, she would have ended up with me, not you' thing is sort of interesting. I remember back in Phase I there being some speculation that although yeah, Avar and Elzar very much had A Thing going on when they were younger, things seemed to lean into polycule territory. Which was basically confirmed in Temptation:
"Their fingers were still intertwined. Elzar felt almost giddy about it suddenly, like when they were kids. That thought led immediately to memories of the two of them giggling with Stellan, flirting with each other, and at him, his ears pink when he wouldn't flirt back." (Temptation, 322)
Like yeah Avar and Elzar love each other but man, they LOVE Stellan. And maybe the flirting was for fun, but I also think the love did extend to Stellan in a pretty intense way, regardless of how Stellan himself did or did not act on it. Regardless, it was a very heady emotional relationship happening between the three, which is the point:
"Loving Stellan had certainly never done anything but make the two of them better." (Trials, 323)
So yeah, the weird vision aside, I wish we'd seen the Firebrands together again, even in some weird Force vision way. I was kind of expecting the epilogue to be some Firebrands-reuniting-in-the-Force shebang, even if that wouldn't really make a lot of sense.

If I may also add-- Avar Kriss is a Jedi Master in the High Republic books and comics, and her thing is that she hears the Force as a song. So different situations, people, and locations result in their own song and feeling:
The Jedi Temple's song is peaceful. The song of a friend she's known her whole life is comforting. Meanwhile, if the song sounds wrong or is missing a note, she takes that as an indication of danger and uses it to find solutions.
"It was a song she knew well -- she heard it all the time, everywhere she went...Sometimes words or images came through unbidden, but only rarely. It was all just a song, and Avar sang and was sung to...The Force sang to her, telling her of peril and bravery and sacrifice, of Jedi fulfilling their vows, acting as guardians of peace and justice in the galaxy."
So to OP's point, yeah there is absolutely canonical support the Force having a sound, and that sound being a reflection of circumstances, good or bad. It just depends on a Jedi (or Force-user) being able to hear them and distinguish the differences.
headcanon where the music in star wars is the ~feeling~ of the force at specific moments. across the stars? the force adores the love between padmé and anakin. the imperial march? it's a warning across the galaxy about its fallen son. duel of the fates? that ones quite obvious, being the battle of light and dark. etc etc.

HELLO HI YES I AM CURRENTLY GOING INSANE OVER THE NYCC SW BOOKS PANEL BECAUSE LOOK AT PRETTY JEDI ARMOR
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE IMPLICATIONS THAT THE JEDI TEMPLE GUARD ARMOR ARE SOME OF THE LAST LIVING STYLISTIC REMNANTS OF THE HIGH REPUBLIC. THE (fully my assumptions ahead) POSSIBILITY THAT THE ARMOR IS PASSED DOWN FROM THE ERA OF FIGHTING AGAINST THE SITH. I WILL BE CHEWING ON THE WALLS UNTIL WE GET CONTEXT AND BACKSTORY FOR THIS.

Convergence
Got bored so I made a new cover for Convergence😅
I don’t really like the original one, it just looks kinda weird. I get why Gella is on it but the whole vibe of it doesn’t fit with the story for me🤷‍♀️
