the swamp rats playing musical cots because sometimes trapper wanders in dead on his feet and passes out on hawk’s cot , so hawkeye naturally takes frank’s cot because trapper’s is soooo far away , and it doesn’t matter how much frank shakes his shoulder to get him up because he’s either out or he’s pretending that frank didn’t wake him up . so frank sleeps on trapper’s cot out of spite instead of taking the spare one . sometimes this variation swaps around . all their cots smell like each other and the spare always smells like henry’s cigars

I've said this before about the swamp rats but to me they are siblings, they are the worst triad possible, they are three bitchy roommates, they are worst enemies, they are best friends. You know? Do you feel me?

I love the idea of inflicting them on one another forevermore, them grumpily sticking together being well into old age, and they are so so sick of it, but they never leave. Cos they luuuurve one another...

One CAN add sex to it for sure, I'd be into it.

How would you rank the five Swamp Rats?

Hawkeye

BJ

Trapper

Charles

Oliver

Frank

This was extremely difficult, and I ended up ranking them in order of how much I would like them/get a long with them as individuals, not necessarily how great they are for the show. Frank is dead last because I wouldn't like him, but he is so great as a character, so it feels really unfair to put him last. And BJ and Trapper would definitely go back and forth - Trapper is excellent, and in another ranking system, he would maybe come before BJ. Charles would rub me the wrong way, but I also love Mahler and the french horn (and he is such an excellent character). Oliver gets put far down the ranks because we don't get enough characterization for him, and basically what we do get is that he likes football. And everyone always forgets him.

Anyway, I feel bad about ranking them because I love them all. But thank you for making me do this.

I kinda wish they had done at least one episode with Frank AND Charles to see Winchester pisstake Burns so hard Hawkeye and B.J. start to really bond with Charles.

charles would have accomplished in one episode what hawkeye and trapper didn’t in three seasons and that is crumple frank for the next ten years . and one of mash’s greatest crimes was robbing us of it 😭😭
