It had been a slow day today. Sleep wasn't something that Swiss did. He didn't need sleep. But he'd become used to resting at night, because there wasn't much else for him to do since he'd been explicitly forbidden to roam around the many different rooms in the Ministry building at night, in search for food, entertainment or just something to occupy himself with. He'd been here for a few years now and was regarded as one of the more reasonable Ghouls. At least off-stage.

The weather outside wasn't really doing Swiss any favors today. The day wasn't even half done, but going outside didn't really seem like an option, unless he wanted to get himself drenched in rain. So for now all Swiss could do was stay seated at the window and watch the raindrops race one another down the glass. His bed chamber had its windows built towards the back of the Ministry, where he could look over the tops of the trees. It was a whole forest of trees, as far as the eye could see. There was always a human sense of melancholy inside of him during these days. It made him wonder how many times a year humans had these emotions, and how they dealt with them. For him these emotions felt extreme, almost anxiety-inducing, because he never knew how to handle them properly. And fleeing from them had, so far, not been an option.

To someone like Swiss, who wasn't human, was - as far as he knew - immortal, and also extremely fidgety, always looking for something to do, having to sit still seemed like the worst thing that could happen.

❝It'll pass...❞, Swiss thought to himself. ❝Like it always does.❞ He wasn't wrong. It did always go away. Those anxious feelings, insecurities and uncertainties. But the sound of the rain made it seem extra tough today to shake it all off. Swiss looked around the room. It was empty. He knew the other Ghouls had to be somewhere around the Ministry, but he also didn't feel like bothering them with his problems right now. They were probably dealing with the same problems himself, so why add push to shove?

Mostly to himself, and very silently, Swiss began humming a little melody that feld right in this moment. Slow, melancholic chords, tied together to form a little string of them, going with the rhythmic beating of the rain drops bashing against the glass of the window.

Deep in thought, lost in his own head, Swiss was suddenly ripped away from his daydreams by a knock on his chamber door.
